This is going to come out a bit blunt, but this is old news. Sure, there might be some people who haven't noticed, but I'm sure a lot of people already have. :\ Anyway, normally I catch them in the order: Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres. :P Nevermind, a lot of people actually didn't recognise it, so I'm wrong. xD Sorry. :S

Emlam July 4th, 2010 6:21 AM

There's also Mew ... and MewTWO. O_O

Iceshadow3317 July 4th, 2010 6:27 AM

I catch them in diffrent orders, but in HG, I caught them in this order.

Moltres
Zapdos
Articuno.

Blaze The Hedgehog July 4th, 2010 6:29 AM

I guess it's sort of similar in how the names of the Pokemon Eevee and Ho-oh are both palindromes.

Don't forget Girafarig, which actually makes sense since it's got two heads. :P

The encounters in R/B/Y are more or less set up so you "find" them in order, though Surfing to the Power Plant for some electricity before heading out to Seafoam seems like a better idea.

Regardless, Articuno would probably be the most immediately attractive to someone coming across it with a low-level team, since it starts off with a solid Ice attack instead of weak/inaccurate attacks like Thundershock/Thunder/Fire Spin that you probably have on some of your Pokemon already.
Zapdos is nice, if you haven't used up your Thunderbolt yet. It's also the only one whose Ice weakness isn't covered by the other element.
I do usually catch Moltres last, if at all, 'cuz it has a pretty unfortunate movepool. :P

RivalGator July 4th, 2010 8:45 AM

Ironically, I never noticed. lol.
But I never catch them in the same order twice! lol.

There are many things like this in Pokemon. Has anyone seen that in GSC, Whitney's gym is in the shape of a giant Clefairy?

beserker300 July 5th, 2010 5:57 PM

Someone must've messed with the link cable or something during the trade though, 'cuz Mewtwo is one messed-up Mew clone. o_o

redsaber5859 July 5th, 2010 6:55 PM

All I can say is... WTF? This is an obvious fact that almost everybody knows, I think everybody eventually figures it out, red out

Droidz July 5th, 2010 7:34 PM

I actually didn't know about the trio birds thing. But i knew about Ekans & Arbok being snake & kobra backwards.

For some raisin*, playful sarcasim doesn't transfer well to alot of people online. :(

Also, little known fact: The three beasts from Johto are all zombies

*This is intentional for my own amusement

HaloSonic July 5th, 2010 8:28 PM

to be fair, this news is really old... althoigh my order is Zapdos, Moltres and maybe articuno, but this was back in RB days, itt went to Zapdos, Articuno Moltres when FRLG came out. for some reason, i didnt like articuno at all, but i liked Zapdos the most, even to this day, even though it's probably the worst of them for competitive play (pfft, as if I play competitively)...

Mewtwo was made to be stronger
SO it doesnt quite look like Mew

Charizard★ July 6th, 2010 6:51 AM

Wow I never noticed that xD
Its pretty cool though :<

GoldvsRed July 7th, 2010 4:23 PM

Don't mean to sound like a douche, but that was the first thing I noticed when I first saw them... And I was 6 back then.

mikey July 16th, 2010 6:44 AM

I never noticed that before until my friend pointed it out. That's pretty cool though.

Oh and Mewtwo comes before Mew in the Pokedex :/

Mᴱᵀᴬᴸ July 21st, 2010 6:54 AM

I'm suprised about that fact. I've been a Pokemon fan for 10 years, and I haven't noticed it until about a month ago.

Heart's Soul July 21st, 2010 11:26 AM

Sigh, there are so many.

Bulbasaur series are all dinosaurs (but Venosaur is the only one with a poison reference, venom)
Charmander series are all Charred.
Squirle and Wartotle are both turtles, and Blastoise is a tortoise
Then- the 6 bugs (Weedle- needle, Metapod- Metal Pod (harden) and Beedrill is so obvious)
Rattata was Ratattak in the beta- Rat Attack
Spearow and Fearow (Sparrow)
Pikachu is a hard one. Pika is a squirrel/rat-type animal and Chu is the god of thunder.
Vulpix is a very hard one. Vulpix is actually a latin word, which is for a red fox (vulpix vulpix)
Dratini - Teeny Dragon
Dragonair - Air Dragon
Dargonite - Dragon Knight

Those are the ones I just randomly thought of that aren't so obvious.
