Luck, or is the accuracy nerfed?

So, moves with 70 accuracy seem to hit a lot less than it says they should. this is only in hg/ss, as in d/p/pt it was fine, but moves like thunder seem to hit a LOT less than they did in other games. i'm lucky if thunder hits 1/5 times on any given pokemon. this is over multiple files and on numerous pokemon. why is the accuracy so.... innaccurate?

SilveSol July 7th, 2010 1:57 PM

Probably depends on the evasion rate of the Pokemon you are against or the accuracy of the Pokemon you are using.

batmon July 7th, 2010 2:46 PM

Use it in the rain, 100% accuracy.

EJ July 7th, 2010 5:03 PM

^That's not the point of this thread though lolol

I actually agree with the whole accuracy % appearing unlikely. Have you also noticed the opponent seems to score critical hits way too often, or that their moves will hit more often than they should?

mooglehunter July 7th, 2010 5:14 PM

definitely. i'll get critted by moves like fury attack all 5 times quite often by the slowest pokemon out there, rhyhorn. not only does it hit 5 times EVERY GD time, but it will crit for every one of them

uh, critical hits aren't calculated on speed any more.

I actually think its quite normal. 70% Accuracy means that you just about have a 1/3 chance of missing. When combined with other factors like Sand Veil or Snow Cloak it can be lowered even more so it becomes around 50%. Even with these factors, for me they usually hit 3/5 times which should be about average.

Maybe you should test it more or use more accurate moves for your Pokemon such as Fire Blast (85), Hydro Pump(80), Ice Beam(100) and Thunderbolt(100).

Good luck finding a solution.

You people are just unlucky.

Or at least I haven't noticed anything That bad..

Accuracy is kinda rigged, to tell the truth.

I remember when I joined the VGC, my opponent's Mewtwo used Thunder (40% accuracy?) on my Palkia without the aid of any rain. Basically, it knocked my Palkia out. And then he procceded to spam it against my Rayquaza (which killed it). I COULD have expected Thunder to miss by the second turn or so, but nooooooooooooooo....

For example, if a Sandslash uses Sand Attack on a Pokemon with nice accuracy, expect the Pokemon to miss every attack it throws at the Sandslash...huh!?

By now, I could expect Game Freak to fix the accuracy system by Generation 5.

Thunder has 70% accuracy.

I find my Will-o-Wisp tends to miss the first time each time I use it.

It's random. It's generated. It's a number. The game isn't rigged or out to get you or anything.

Thats lies.
I missed a stone edge in our match and you got a crit on the same turn. coincidence? I think NOT. Obviously you rigged the gaming gods to smite me down.

that was a joke, i totally agree with your point. :) Jigglypuff = voice of reason

Myles July 7th, 2010 10:30 PM

I've noticed this from the start. But I know it's just a perception thing: you acknowledge and remember misses more than you do hits.

Unless your in the Battle Tower, in which case it really is rigged, to create fake difficulty.

Evasion rate doesn't exist. Double Team, SmokeScreen and moves like that are forbidden in multiplayer (I WISH THEY WERE FORBIDDEN IN-GAME. GAH!)

Mujahid July 8th, 2010 1:46 AM

Tell me about it !!....I was in the battle hall against a Mamoswine....I went for Ice fang..missed...mamoswine used blizzard ..hits....again Ice fang ..misses..blizzard hits...Ice fang misses...blizzard hits...I was so mad at the game..I lost ..curse u luck hax !!

Lance is the one who really ticks me off the most using crits. To be honest, he's the one who seems to get the most crits on me every time in game. Ex: 2 of my pokemon get crits on him, while literally 5 of his get crits on mine.

I'm so glad I stopped using so many dragon types.

Oh and now I'm starting to get more crits lately. Like with Giratina, who actually got two crits every battle I fought. And Darkrai the same.

I agree. The first time I challenged Lance on SoulSilver, all three of his Dragonites scored Critical Hits with various moves. And their Thunders always hit too, which annoyed the heck out of me considering mine are guaranteed to miss four out of every five times.

mooglehunter July 8th, 2010 6:47 AM

now how about confusion, i'm not sure what the chances of youactually going are, but to me it seems that if I get hurt tyring to use a move once, it will continue to hurt me until the confusion goes away. i have had multiple low lvl ghost type pkmn killd this way against a normal type that new swagger

G-Virus July 8th, 2010 9:14 AM

^ Same happened with me and my Crobat. I confused another Pokemon, it uses Swagger. I hurt myself, it doesn't.

NickofTime July 8th, 2010 9:23 AM

Tell you the truth i mean it doesn't matter, the computers need those hax to even be a challenge, so i don't have a problem with it.
