Maybe it is the Phoenix Pokemon I've been asking for since Season1 Episode1 of Pokemon (Ho-Oh Doesn't Count) Fire/Flying? Fire/Dragon? Maybe Fire/Flying then evolves and becomes Fire/Dragon?

Fire -> Fire/Flying -> Fire/Dragon

Chrisixx July 11th, 2010 3:49 AM

when will the next coro coro magazine come out?

Ho-Oh and Moltres are both already Phoenixes.

Ho-Oh being the Eastern variety and Moltres the Western.

Azure-Supernova July 11th, 2010 4:22 AM

Eagle?

Hmmmm... definitely looks like one of these:

http://www.tobinphoto.com/images/photos/bald_eagle.jpg

Then again it could be a Golden Eagle or even an Osprey. If this is the evolution to Mamepato and his (supposed) freaky looking turkey evo, then it might be worth investing in raising the ugly son of a, just to get one. But I'm hoping it's either a bird on it's own like Skarmory or it evolves from something a bit smaller like Fearow did.

Major_Tom July 11th, 2010 4:53 AM

A partial picture of it is now viewable on Serebii.

Ho-Oh July 11th, 2010 4:59 AM

Just going to link a picture, but thanks to the above poster for noticing. Also, it's called Wooguru.

http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite/corocoro07.jpg

Wow I really like this bird so much more now. The sprite looks surprisingly large... and looks much more like a legendary.

He reminds me of a Native American warchief.

That looks pretty cool, but I'm disappointed about the fact that it's typing is normal/flying...

Wooguru (ウォーグル) is the Valor Pokemon, is Normal / Flying, weighs 41 kg, and stands 1.5m tall. Its name derives from "war" and "eagle."

I gotta admit, i like him so much more too :D
I wasent that iffy but eh it was good. hurry up leaking! sorry.
But it dosent look like the 3rd evo. if it was then... YIKES O_O

Iceshadow3317 July 11th, 2010 5:21 AM

Gotta love EAGLES!!!!!!!!! I got what I wanted woot!! These pokemon will be in my team.

ionbru xp July 11th, 2010 5:22 AM

its name is wooguru which sounds a lot like Garuda the mythical bird.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garuda

if it is based off a Garuda its probably a legendary :)

I want a non-Legendary evolving Phoenix... From the ashes type thing... You know what I mean?

Rengoku July 11th, 2010 5:23 AM

Oh yes!
Finally a native bird I like since Pidgey line!
This one is just epic *__*

It kind of looks like Garuda too...

WARNING THIS PICTURE IS HUGE!

Well someone wanted a Normal Legendary Pokemon... There you go...

Arolu July 11th, 2010 5:26 AM

It does remind me a lot of that eagle-like Digimon in the second series...
Anyway, it does look amazing and I would definitely have one!
I did expect it to be a Normal and Flying typed Pokemon but, I bet an awesome move set and statistics will help with that.

:)

Iceshadow3317 July 11th, 2010 5:26 AM

I don't think it is,but I wouldn't mind another group of Legendary Birds. If it is,I don't think it is part of the Trio. For the simple fact it is normal type.

This guy?

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2f/Aquilamon.jpg

I'm pretty sure Aquilamon was based on Garuda as well xD

Gymnotide July 11th, 2010 5:29 AM

tbh I think it's awesomeness is stifled by its name being essentially "Woogle."

WOOOOOOOGLE

Anyway, less based on Garuda than the fact that Eagles were supernatural in Mesoamerica?

Ho-Oh July 11th, 2010 5:30 AM

Wow @ similarities o__o;

I like Wooguru more. :(

Iceshadow3317 July 11th, 2010 5:37 AM

I wonder what the American name will be for Wooguru?

I hope we get a new badass flying move to match the new badass birdy.

Warbird or something stupid... Maybe just Garuda xD (I'm nicknaming it Garuda if it isn't dubbed that)

Free Fall is the Pokemon's new move its a two turn move where you pick up the opponent the first turn and slam them down on the second...

The other members can be Thunderbird and Roc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roc_(mythology)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbird_(mythology)

Iceshadow3317 July 11th, 2010 5:48 AM

Ya I was thinking of a Thunderbird and Roc acutlly.

It says the Roc had fought the Solar Bird, Gurada before. So it is highly possable.

Sora's Nobody July 11th, 2010 5:55 AM

I really really like Woogoru, its just plain Awesomness!! oh and @Calder Garuda is the name of a digimon! Not the name of the newest member of the 5th Gen (we know of)

Ravecat July 11th, 2010 5:59 AM

No, Garuda is the name of a mythical bird that the Digimon is based on.

Major_Tom July 11th, 2010 6:15 AM

http://pokebeach.com/news/0710/corocoro-new-pokemon-2.jpg This is Makomo who is the professor's friend, she plays some sort of role in the games story. The pokemon is Musharna which is the evolved form of munna.

Gymnotide July 11th, 2010 6:22 AM

Why is everyone saying it is based on Garuda without real proof?

It could just as easily be based on the Native American thoughts on the Eagle, FAR from the Hindu Garuda.

Evidence?
  • Well, a lot are saying that Isshu is based on New York to represent Americans in the Pokemon world. We had Eagles and Native Americans in America.
  • The name isn't even remotely the same as "Garuda," except the "oo" sound. The name just references "eagle" as far as we know, which means it could be anything.
  • The only evidence of it being a Garuda is comparisons with Digimon and their, get this, made-up color-scheme. The only thing we know of Garuda is that he has a golden human body and red wings, where the Pokemon in question looks far from humanoid and is more blue than golden.
  • The thing freaking looks like a headdress:

http://www.getreligion.org/wp-content/photos/2009/09/Hunkpapa_Lakota_Headdress-2005.03.27-04.34.04.jpg

Iceshadow3317 July 11th, 2010 6:28 AM

Actully his name is based of War and Eagle.

Major_Tom July 11th, 2010 6:29 AM

The version specifics are black city and white forest.

Iceshadow3317 July 11th, 2010 6:39 AM

3 rivals. Don't forget we also have the other protigist as a rival.

Ho-Oh July 11th, 2010 6:43 AM

...Perhaps we should keep the bird discussion to this thread, and the scans to the other relevant thread? :x

Also, I keep thinking it is called Garuda now. D:

WOOOOOOOGLE

Gonna make an amendment to this heh

I forgot it was Japanese, so it would probably be more pronounced like "whoa-oh-goo-roo," which sounds a lot less stupid than "woogle" lol Then again, I know spit Japanese, so sue me.

MistahDude July 11th, 2010 7:33 AM

I kinda want to keep the name as it is. Its cool enough. Wooguru!

JAK3 July 11th, 2010 7:43 AM

I actually love that little Minezumi guy, he looks like a Pokemon who tries to be tough, but really isn't, who knows. Koromori just looks silly, and Kibago is actually really cool. Musharna looks way too much like Munna, so I hope Munna has a third evolution.

Jerme July 11th, 2010 9:44 AM

that chipmunk beaver thing looks like it's.....high

Charizard★ July 11th, 2010 9:56 AM

Wooguru. It looks pretty cool though xD

Kardashian July 11th, 2010 10:46 AM

do we know is this is the regional bird? if it is. DO WANT!!! I'm so getting this. LOVING Isshu.

MistahDude July 11th, 2010 10:49 AM

It is the Valor Pokemon and has two abilities, one being Encourage. The Valor Pokemon has an ability that makes it a powerhouse? Its American alright.

Barker July 11th, 2010 11:57 AM

Wow, I'm surprised. The art actually looks great.

Zeturic July 11th, 2010 12:09 PM

Well, I'm disappointed. I really wanted a Vulture.

Its design is okay, but it's one of my least favorite Pokemon revealed so far, ahead of only two: Tsutarja and the sarcophagus. I just am not a fan. It looks bland and uninteresting.

That's an opinion. So was my saying "it looks bland". So it doesn't really matter what you say. My mind isn't going to change.

Ravecat July 11th, 2010 1:43 PM

Don't bother, very few understand what an opinion is.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire July 11th, 2010 1:48 PM

I hope the bird is a legendary! it's head dress reminds me of some native american's head dresses, I mean with the amount of feathers, if only it was more colorful :)

Lot's of people like to state their opinions like they are fact...I mean just look at the US they think Democracy is the best type of government and state it as fact but that's only an opinion as the world hasn't tried to form a new form to govern...they even try to pressure foreign countries to adapt their opinion...

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire July 11th, 2010 4:40 PM

Well it's best to keep your expectations low as if you make them to high it would be less fun than what you had in your mind :) Though I think for you and for me they have surpassed those expectations TS :)

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire July 11th, 2010 4:45 PM

Neither would I, actually I rose those expectations today and I hope for a Story plot better than PTRSE had :)

With me being a full blood Native, I'd be ecstatic if this Pokemon paid homage to us. :)

When I first saw it, it just screamed out "Native american bird" :)

Ho-Oh July 12th, 2010 8:43 AM

Well if it is native american...then it's more likely to be legendary than not, cause then it'll seem like it has a deep history to it or something.

That would make it similar to Zapdos who is based on the thunder bird another native american legend :)

Ho-Oh July 12th, 2010 8:49 AM

idk, I just really want it to be legendary XD;

I want the same thing, I just see it as a good legendary plus it isn't to "exotic" compared to the other legends we have had lately in gen 4 and 5 :)

Gardenia101 July 12th, 2010 8:52 AM

Yeah, ummm.... All I can really hope for here is a flying/grass type. There are only 2 sets (Tropius, Hoppip and evolutions) and only tropius can learn fly, and it's a DINOSAUR for goodness sake! Lets get a grass-type BIRD for a change! Besides, those feathers could be leaves (But probably not...)

Ho-Oh July 12th, 2010 8:54 AM

The sprite looks reaaaally large so idk that's where I'm getting the legendary thoughts from.

Aaand... isn't it confirmed to be normal/flying and not grass?

Thomas July 12th, 2010 8:56 AM

Looks like maybe an evo to Pidgeot or Fearow, or mabye some cross evolution of the two.

Haha I remember when they first introduced eggs, I thought you could like mate two different species of pokemon and make a hybrid. haha

I think he meant he want's another pokemon who isn't the bird we just got to be a grass bird :)

Ho-Oh July 12th, 2010 9:02 AM

Really, I tho--oh well.

Either way, grass bird seems sort of unlikely, considering it's usually flying being super effective to grass, though the other bird revealed actually looks like it has grass type potential, anyway.

Well we have two lines of Grass/flying...wait three if you count sky forme Shaymin so grass/flying isn't new :)

Ho-Oh July 12th, 2010 9:09 AM

Oh, I meant birds*, but I mean...idk, it seems like birds peck at grass and yeah. Unlikely, imo.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire July 12th, 2010 9:20 AM

Well shaymin is some type of deer and they eat grass two :)

A Pixy July 12th, 2010 7:15 PM

I have a feeling this is going to be the Skarmory of Isshu. A completely random single evolution Pokemon with a unique Type.

rocky505 July 12th, 2010 7:19 PM

I don't see it being Legendary since they do not have 2 abilities unless they have different forms.

MistahDude July 12th, 2010 7:30 PM

Wooguru looks like a Bald Eagle wearing a Native American Headdress.
