Diamond pearl or platinum.im new

Ok so i have not owned a pokemon game since the original blue one. Im wondering what game is the best at the moment (which one has the strongest pokes in it.
Which game has the best cover character? Dialga palkia or giratina?
out of those which one is better overall and has the most use.
much appreciated

Platinum would be the best game to get, as it includes all of the Legendary Pokemon in it, and in general is just the better game.

NJ fury S July 11th, 2010 8:09 AM

but how strong are the main 3 pokemon? i want to know which of the three is best because you get the cover pokemon first and the other 2 last i want to have the best one first...

Rengoku July 11th, 2010 8:26 AM

Since this is the DPPt's area I'd say Platinum.
I can never play my Diamond anymore, it's too slow in speed x__x;

I'd say Heartgold or Soulsilver if you add them to the choice though, those're just ownage.

Out of the three, you're best off getting Platinum. Diamond and Pearl were too slow, due to them being the first pokemon games on the DS, a total new perspective for GameFreak. For me, Platinum really smoothed out the rough edges, plus you have two cracks at capturing Giratina ( both in the Distortion world and in Turnback Cave ), and you can obtain Dialga and Palkia quite easily, both being capturable atop Mt. Coronet. Also, on Platinum you can obtain every new type of pokemon on the Sinnoh 'Dex, without having to wait for the National 'Dex. This gave me a chance to build a much stronger team facing the Elite Four than I ever could of done on Diamond/Pearl.

So yeah, i'd go for Platinum.

ok so plat it is then.....since you get giratina first. is he stronger than dialga or palkia? and how is hos A-O form any diffferent?
can you switch between A and O?

Rengoku July 11th, 2010 10:33 AM

Strong or not is up to individuals, some people think Giratina is, some people think Dialga is, end of the day it's up to yourself.

I have Diamond, but I'd recommend you to purchase Platinum as the third game always have improved features over the initial pair of the set in each generation. I can't really answer your question on the legendaries however as I refuse to use any legendaries other than Darkrai ;)

EDIT: Yes, you can switch between his forms in Platinum as far as I know.

Weavile05 July 11th, 2010 12:04 PM

Platinum, it has more pokemon than Diamond or Pearl, graphics are better, pace is a little quicker, Giratina (main legendary) has an awesome new form only available in Platinum, and there is more fire types (only one besides starter in DP, and it's not all that good). The protagonist is also a little more realistic.

Charizard★ July 11th, 2010 12:53 PM

I'd choose Platinum if I were you. Its the best out of those 3.

When Giratina's holding the Griseous Orb (I think that's the item) in Platinum, it changes to its Origin Forme, which is only in Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver.

I lost my ds so i play my ds games on my pc using NO$GBA.So i had to wait a while before i could find pokemon plat but i finally found it & will be starting it up today and ditching my diamond version i have on my pc.

Corruptodile July 16th, 2010 3:10 PM

Why have the choice of Dialga or Palkia when you can have both and much more? Go with Platinum.

There's so much more to do, as well as new forms for some Pokémon (and how can you not pass up Giratina-O? :O godly).

Event Arceus my friend. :P Though it's annoying as I missed it :/ So I use Platinum mostly.

Droidz July 18th, 2010 2:14 AM

I'd choose out of the three, Platinum. It's the best.

§acred†Beo! July 18th, 2010 9:17 AM

I just restarted my platinum last night after trading all my old pokemon from my boxes over to my Heart Gold version. So yeah i'd say platinum is worth it especially if i'm playing it a second time through.
