Pogiforce-14 November 14th, 2004 3:44 PM

I need some suggestions for my Charizard.

I'm a bit torn as to whether or not I should teach a move to my Charizard, and I'm needing advice. Chelsea, my female Charizard, is in a situation where once I teach this move to her, there is no going back. Which is why I need a consensus as soon as possible. Her moves are:

Aerial Ace
Earthquake
Flamethrower
Roar

her personality, I don't recall, but I do know it's one of the three that has no effect on stats. The move I want to teach her is Swords Dance and I'm considering taking off roar for it. However, because Roar is a one shot Tm and Swords Dance is one of those move tutors who will only teach once, I need to be at a solid decision before I make any moves.

Mullet November 14th, 2004 4:10 PM

I would take off roar, and put on Swords Dance, even though I like DD better!

Xilion_Sword90 November 14th, 2004 4:13 PM

Roar isn't a one time TM, you can by them at Celadon Dept. Store...

Pogiforce-14 November 14th, 2004 4:18 PM

However, Swords Dance is still a one time tutor which is why I have to make my choice carefully, and I wanted to get some advice before I did naything. :\

Mullet November 14th, 2004 4:18 PM

He was talking about SD is a one time thing, not Roar!

Frostweaver November 14th, 2004 4:19 PM

battledex, anyone? Charizard is in there...

Mullet November 14th, 2004 4:29 PM

Poji doesn't like the Battledex but he comes here for help but says he doesn't like frosty, I find that strange, and Frosty helps anyone!

Pogiforce-14 November 14th, 2004 4:32 PM

Don't make an issue out of it, Mullet. I come for help not just so Frosty can rate it. I'm looking for everyone'sopinion, not just Frosty's. Just because I'm not fond of him doesn't mean I can't come here for help.

And according to your battle dex Frosty, you're basically suggesting Swords Dance. You know you could have saved me a lot of trouble if you just came out and said that. :\

Mullet November 14th, 2004 4:48 PM

He said DD is generally perfered. I like both though.

My Charizard is:

[email protected] Berry
Nature:+ attack,-def
EVs:attack, speed
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Aerial Ace/Flamethrower
Rock Slide

I really like the Charizard, not the best but works!

Pogiforce-14 November 14th, 2004 4:53 PM

I wasn't asking about Dragon Dance Mullet, and it's too much trouble to get on a charizard anyways.

Mullet November 14th, 2004 4:57 PM

I know that's just mine, and all you have to do is breed, and it's better too!

Pogiforce-14 November 14th, 2004 5:00 PM

"All you ahve to do is breed". Pfft. you're so used to ditto breeding you forgot how difficult it can be to do it without the universal breeder. I don't have anyone who knows Dragon Dance. And is earthquak an egg move? Because Charizard is going to be needing that for protection.

Frostweaver November 14th, 2004 5:05 PM

Charizard can't breed for earthquake, as Charmander can't learn it.

Pogiforce-14 November 14th, 2004 5:08 PM

Then there we go. I can't get a Charizard with Dragon Dance because I can't get Teh moves I want along with it. I hope I haven't used up my Earthquake TM on Colloseum.

I suppose it can't learn aerial ace from the egg either, can it?

Mullet November 14th, 2004 5:37 PM

What you can do is breed it with T-tar, then get it with Rock Slide and DD, then when Emerald comes out teach it AA and Earthquake, that would be the way to do it.

Netbattle is an even easier way to do it but your playing the game!
:D

Pogiforce-14 November 14th, 2004 5:39 PM

Quit imposing on me Mullet. I told oyu a thousand times over I don't do netbattle, and I'm tired of you trying to make me do it. 1. I'm not going to sit and wait for another game to come out to get the moves I want. 2. I want earthquake, not Rock Slide. 3. I can use the Tyranitar I already have, yeah, but Can't i use the Dratini evolution line? Seems to me they should be abl to learn Dragon Dance.

Frostweaver November 14th, 2004 5:41 PM

Charmander can learn aerial ace, so yes you can breed aerial ace. But if that Charizard won't be getting dragon dance, then you MUST have swords dance. Without either dances or HP (seeing how this is in-game), Charizard is useless...

Swords Dance/Aerial Ace/Rock Slide/Overheat

All 4 moves can be obtained from breeding (Charmander got SD as an egg move as well, not just tutor) Blaziken can get all 4 moves, if that helps... If necessary, take off overheat for fire blast if possible, and flamethrower as the last possible choice. Sandslash, Armaldo, Marowak and Zangoose can learn rock slide+swords dance+aerial ace too, if that helps? o.o; Meh... breeding is not my speciality.

All I said was that would be the easy way.

It will take time if you want a good team, that's why I'm rasing a Larvatar. Then I'll use EQ from another game and get AA,a nd you really don't need AA you could have Flamethrower insted of AA!
:D

Pogiforce-14 November 14th, 2004 5:47 PM

My charizard already knows aerial ace, so that will carry over then. My prime concern is that If Flamethrower and Aerial Ace can carry over, plus the Dragon Danec form whoever I get it from, not to mention all the other moves that will be involved, then how can I be sure the Charmander will be born with the four moves I want on it? :\

Plus, can those rock guys breed with a CHarizard? :\ For some reason I havea feeling my Charizard won't be too keen of settling down with any of teh guys you listed for ROck SLide.

edit: Yes I DO need aerial ace mullet, because it's a fast move that Supposedly never misses, and having two fire moves on one pokemon is pointless.

Mullet November 14th, 2004 5:56 PM

He'll still have babies even if it might take awhile.

Pogiforce-14 November 14th, 2004 6:04 PM

Charizard is a GIRL. And they hve what are called Egg groups. mullet. Certain pokemon belong to certain egg groups, and if the parents don't fit in the same egg group, they can't have eggs. Some Pokemon belong to two different egg groups, but I doubt Charizard shares an egg group with any of those guys. :\ If she does then it's a good thing, but somehow I doubt it.

Mullet November 14th, 2004 6:23 PM

I know there are egg groups. If SHE can learn it on NB she can learn it on the game! :D

Frostweaver November 14th, 2004 6:51 PM

T-tar and zard are both of the same egg group... T-tar has always been one of the best breeding partner for Charizard, due to getting dragon dance and rock slide at the same time, with T-tar's ability to learn plenty of stuff to breed on as additionals.

Mullet, let me clue you in on something.

NB distorts things, Mullet. In NB you just ask for a move and bam, It's there. But it's not so easy in real life. In real life, it doesn't matter if she can learn it if she's trying to learn it from someone she's not compatible with. A pokemon that has teh move I want her child to know doesn't mean squat if they aren't in the same egg group.

Mullet November 14th, 2004 6:57 PM

I just checked NB and T-tar learns Earthquake by level, so Zard can get that by egg too, right!

They are in the same egg group, and in NB you can only get moves that they can learn, like you can't get a Zard with Surf, it also tells you how they learn it!
:D
