Naruto coming to the US?
the New York-Tokyo eNerGy 2004: Anime and Game Festival will take place on the weekend of November 19th in New York City. The event will include screenings of new anime from Gonzo, Studio Pierrot, Toei and other Japanese studios. These animes include Crayon Shin-Chan, Cutey Honey Live Action Movie, Full Metal Alchemist, Hello Kitty, Kakurenbo, Naruto, NIN NIN Ninja Star Hattori, Otogi Zoushi, Paranoia Agent, Samurai 7, Samurai Champloo, and Jungle wa Itsumo HaRe Nochi Guu. The fact that Naruto is included in the list is very interesting, even more interesting is that the website for the event states:
The massive cultural phenomenon in Japan has been at the top of every anime fan's wish list in the US, and it is finally on its way here! Following the exploits of a young ninja in training Naruto, a feisty blonde kid holding the spirit of a ferocious nine-tailed demon in his body, the NARUTO series deals with his small team of adolescent ninjas, led by their teacher and mentor Kakashi.... Perhaps they know something we don't about it finally being on its way here. We will be watching closely to see if a license to the Naruto series is announced. This might be it, people. Naruto may finally get a license this Friday(that is, one officially announced).. Dang it, if 4kids has it I'll... or it's just Pierrot pimping the property out. [/brutal realist] though I really would like to be licenced already so people would stop the speculation. |
...Naruto series will be butchered if 4Kids gets it. -_-;;
|
I agree, I really hope Naruto stays in Japan, the originals are far superior to any kiddiefied translation that 4Kids can cook up. I was mortified by what they did to One Piece, and I think they could make Naruto even worse by translating it.

I can live with that, as long as they make use of the DVD space available - something like 8-10 episodes per DVD would be nice and not too taxing on the pocket.

Yeah, I know they like to only use 3-6 episodes per DVD, but with the amount of episodes there are, there are certainly more fans (like myself) who will appreciate getting more episodes. It's definately possible, there's more than enough space on a DVD.

Hehe, relax, take deep, long breaths...
But yeah, it's a real pain in the neck, and it's not just limited to Geneon, most companies do this with DVDs - don't use half the space available, and then charge silly amounts of profit on top. I'll be glad once the Blu-ray DVDs come out, they can potentially store up to 200 GB - you can probably fit two entire anime series of the size of Naruto in that space. |

Gama!~I would hate to hear this 4Kids Spokesperson: We have Naruto!!! Nyeah, nyeah, boo boo! |
I have the Chrono Crusade DVD...each DVD can store up to 10 episodes. o_O;; I think they only store 3-6 because they are holding back? A regular CD disk can store 3-6 episodes of something and a DVD is 2.1MB large. Unless they use the new blue disk technology for PS3 that can store tons of information.
I just want them to subtitle it with original voice acting. I think lots of things will be changed and just imagine how their names will be pronouced... |

Weeeel, it's friday, and... blue, any word on who's lisencing Naruto?
puni puni~ |
No one did, the anime didn't get bought. It most likely will stay like this now at least untill 2005, it's to late in the year for a anime to start dubbing...sorry for the week long false alarm v v;.
|
You make it sound like the event was only one day. The convention lasts from Friday to Sunday. Be patient for cripes' sake. o_O Usually these things are announced during the weekend when there's plenty of people who aren't held back by school or work.
They're playing Naruto at 12:30pm on Sunday after Fullmetal Alchemist and Samurai 7. So there ya go. Helps to actually look around on the site befor assuming things. >_> |
Wait!o.0 What now? I was informed it was going to be on the friday leg of the con? Oh well, guess I was wrong...just have to wait and see I suppose
|
Cool! Now I get to see Naruto act like a dum dum. lol Can't wait to see it. Has it even come on yet or is the premiere episode this Sunday?
|
Wa! I was right, stop throwing me off my kilter people![rantmode off] The friday showing is the one that would have proved if it got bought or not, and of course it didn't v v;. So, I guess that ends speculation for this year.
|
The site said they played it on SUNDAY, not Friday. And of course, they pulled a fast one on everyone and played the Japanese first episode. Why they did that, I'll never know. They basically said "We know you've seen this. We know that you're past 100 episodes of viewing it already. Want this in English? TOO BAD! AHAHA!" It was the ONLY show there played in Japanese. o_o
|
Well, at least I knew that if 4kids got it they wouldn't be showing it there....to fearfull of crazy otaku fanboys. But I do belive it's to far into the year for anything to happen with the show...so we now have to wait for January 3rd when dubbers setup again for the year.
|
The show's already past 100 episodes. Wouldn't exactly call that too early. One Piece is past 100 and they've gotten it just fine. o_o
|
I meant early in the year, dubbers usally don't get a anime after 2 or less month are left in the year, money earnings thing.
|
Didn't stop 4Kids from their latest meeting and announcing the anime they recently grabbed this month. >.>
|
They picked that up at the start of november, enough time. Plus I said MOST of the time, it matters whene they start the dubbing on it.
|
Great.I love the manga.I hope it comes soon.I thing the voice of Susake sould be the voice of Hedi of yuyuhakusho.
