Sims 2 graphics

hey i recently got the sims 2 for my pc, it works fine but everytime i move around the Neibourhood or My houses the Music and the sound crackles in the background. i have tried everything and about to get really annoyed if it doesn't work, help me please.

my system is:

P4 2.8GHZ
1.5 GB RAM DDR
Nvidia Geforce Fx 5500
Windows Vista Home Premium

That hardware isn't really good...
It's a P4, even if it's one of the fastest P4, it's still a P4.
DDR RAM...
The GPU is entry-level...
And it's running Vista.

I do not know how much resource hungry sims 2 is, but meh.

Turn down your graphical settings. On a system like yours, with Vista installed, The Sims 2 barely gets 512 MB of RAM to work with. The fact that it's a Pentium 4 doesn't matter, since The Sims 2 may not be able to use multiple processor cores anyway.

And the GPU won't matter as much because it's a six year old game.

Your hardware is pretty weak for a gaming machine. Knowing this trend I suggest you check for game updates / patches for both the game and your Operating System. After that try screwing around with the audio settings in the game.

as i said the graphics don't matter, when i don't move the sound is fine but when i move around or add something the sound slows down and crackles. maby it is a glitch or something

Patch it up like Yellow said. It shouldn't be that hard to find the patch, since I know that the official site was still up and active in early June, and the official site for the original The Sims is also still fully operational.

You're using a very old graphics card. I suggest upgrading to a more recent one, like this one, provided your card is PCI-e or this one if your card is AGP.

Well, that'd be the manufacturers fault. Look into getting a video card that's supported by Vista and fits into the same slot. Or even just look at getting a brand new computer.

So much for graphics not being a problem >.>...

Quote:

Problem: Stuttering sound during gameplay and lower frame rate and problems showing rain
Cards: Most Geforce cards
Please check for the latest drivers. NVidia is actively working on this issue.
Yeah... consider an upgrade. That graphics card is majorly obsolete.

Go there scan the game. And check the specs you need and update it.
