Walk around with a haunter/gengar with mean look as first ;)

§acred†Beo! July 17th, 2010 8:11 AM

It's the same strategy with Entei, Raikou etc.

Use mean look, and then put it to sleep. Should be pretty easy from there.

Charizard★ July 17th, 2010 8:12 AM

Yup, your best chance is to use Mean Look, or Shadow tag ability (I think).

Sydian July 17th, 2010 8:20 AM

lv 34 Wobbuffet, Max Repels, Mirror Coat, but not too much. I used this strategy in Sapphire for Latias. I don't care much for legendaries anymore, but I do know my tricks to roamers for when I did want to catch them, haha.

MegaKuriboh July 17th, 2010 9:39 AM

I know Latias is a b****
Seriously it took me forever to get her (I have no Pokes with Mean Look)
Eventually I gave and threw a Master Ball.

Mayfan24 July 17th, 2010 10:01 AM

I tried the Shadow Tag/Arena trap method, it still fled :/

alisaie July 17th, 2010 5:38 PM

Arena Trap wouldn't work on them because of their ability.

I would use these methods, but because of my first encounter with Latios, he's wandering around burned (not on purpose. I simply used Flamethrower and viola). I guess I'll just have to be lucky one time when I encounter it.

System! July 17th, 2010 6:32 PM

Latias would appear when I don't want her to appear (ex. EV training). I got her HP down to one point because of my Scyther's False Swipe. However, every time I encounter her, she'd burst instantly out of my Quick Ball and flee.

I swear she's trolling me.

n64benowitz177 July 17th, 2010 6:35 PM

I got so frustrated with catching the Latias in my game that i traded for a masterball, because I couldn't take it anymore.

Eeohnex July 17th, 2010 8:46 PM

Like a lot of people mentioned already, try and use Mean Look. Or if you want to take the easy way out, you could use a Masterball. Good luck.

pichuspark July 17th, 2010 8:52 PM

When I first tried to catch Latias for the VGC, I captured a Diglett in Vermilion City and basically went back and forth to catch Latias...then I almost screamed in pain when Latias escaped despite Diglett's Arena Trap ability (I think it's something about Levitate...)

So, when I encountered Latias again while training my Gligar, I was able to catch her with a Quick Ball...yay :)

Droidz July 18th, 2010 2:05 AM

Latias is quite a pain i couldn't even be bothered catching mine in Soul silver.

Dedemaru July 18th, 2010 2:14 AM

I too gave in and threw my Master Ball. The way I saw it was that I only had one roaming legendary left and the stationary ones won't run.

Slowking Bro July 18th, 2010 6:36 PM

I've mostly ignored Latios to raise some of moy other Pokemon, but I'm ready to hgave a hard time with Kanto's geography.

rockman0 July 18th, 2010 7:02 PM

I find it hard to hunt them down because the map is no longer in the bottom screen. Or maybe I'm just lazy. >.>

Do like others do, use Mean Look or a Masterball. Or maybe you'll get lucky, like I did with Raikou.

mikey July 19th, 2010 5:43 AM

Mean Look would probably be the best strategy to use when dealing with roaming pokemon. Once you use it, it can't escape. Then you can try to catch it and you can save your Masterball for something else.

rocky505 July 19th, 2010 8:05 AM

Using mean look won't help much with Entei and Raikou i think they have roar. So use a mean look passer (Umbreon or Smeargle) and go to a suction cup pokemon (Octillery or Cradily)

Venusaur's awsome July 19th, 2010 3:04 PM

i ran into latias at mt silver and had snorlax thought i was lucky but 4got snorlax is very slow and used block it still fled i had no more masters cause raikou but one time i put entei to sleep and it still fled!!!!!!!! it was such bull

EXACTLY why I don't care for the roaming legendaries anymore. It's too tedious to keep checking the Pokegear map all the time. And I swear, Entei and Raikou hate me. I'm somewhere looking for them, and they're around Ecruteak all the time. I go near Ecruteak, and they run off to Kanto. I quit trying to catch them after that.

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ July 20th, 2010 7:34 AM

Raikou was far tougher than Latios for me. With Latios, I kept chasing it around, lowering its HP with every encounter. Then, when it was low enough, I sent in my Mean Look Pokemon, inflicted something (can't remember if it was Sleep or Paralyze), and after three of Kurt's Fast Balls, it was mine.

Raikou was the one I used the Master Ball on, after wasting my first stock of Fast Balls and about six Ultra Balls (it used Roar).

Rengoku July 20th, 2010 7:46 AM

I think it adds on to the fun of the game, plus I don't think legendaries should be caught so easily too!
I stalked my Latias in Sapphire and she's still with me up to these days cos' she's just, ah, more special like that.
Nowadays I just clone Masterballs (Sue me) to catch fleeing Pokemons.

Pikadance14 July 20th, 2010 7:49 AM

I used a Ranch Mew that I had taught Block to for catching the roamers.

Mew @ False Swipe/Hypnosis/Block/Synthesis

Worked like a charm for catching the roamers, along with other less-annoying Pokes.

Amore July 20th, 2010 10:23 AM

Get a Smeargle, guys....we really need somebody dedicated to breeding them like this:

Smeargle
@ Muscle Band (it's not very powerful)
lv.34 (lowest needed to catch ALL roamers so far existing.)
-Spore
-False Swipe
-Mean Look
-Softboiled (for recovery, as Smeargle ain't that strong)

I'll either get one, or use my Master Ball

Lukar July 20th, 2010 6:47 PM

I just said "Screw it" and used a Master Ball on Latias after I realized the only legendary I had left to catch was Rayquaza, if I can ever get someone to trade me the required Groudon for a bit.
