First off, post your moveset, your EVs etc. if you don't know what it means, read the Advanced Trainers Guide by frostweaver.

Mullet November 16th, 2004 3:37 PM

This should be in the GB Statagies and Movesets fourm, someone needs to move this.

Nathaniel Essex November 16th, 2004 3:41 PM

revision.

ok, try this.

Metagross
EVs - Attack/Special Attack
----
Hyper Beam
Meteor Mash
Psychic
Agility

Salamance
EVs - Attack/Special Attack
----
Dragon Dance
Dragon Claw
Crunch
Double-Edge

Dragonite
EVs - Special Defense/Attack
----
Dragon Dance
Thunderbolt
Dragon Claw
Hyper Beam

BigBoss November 16th, 2004 3:49 PM

Take off Hyper Beam, #1 and don't work on Metagross attack, He's Steel Psychic and his attack is not very high. as for Salmence, cmon, you can't leave him with no flying moves, and you should not have a Dragonite and a Salamence, take him out. also, what are the natures and items they are holding?

Metegross has high attack. It's attack is so high, some people make it an all-out physical sweeper, even without Psychic. You may want a mixed sweeper, but I think I'll suggest a physical sweeper.

For metegross, I'd say:

Metegross
EVs - Attack/HP
Nature: Adamant (atk+, sp.a-)
Earthquake
Shadow Ball
HP Fighting
Light Screen
--
Salemence looks quite good, but try this:

Salemence
EVs: Attack/Speed OR Attack/Special Attack/Speed
Earthquake
Brick Break OR Dragon Claw
Aerial Ace
Dragon Dance
--
Well, for Dragonite, I'd suggest an all-out special sweeper :\ .

Dragonite
EVs: Special Attack/Speed

Ice Beam
Flamethrower
Surf
HP Dark
----
Well, that's the best I can do. I don't have much experiance with this, but it seems OK to me :\ .

revision 2.

ok, let's try this. remember i LOVE dragon pokemon, i just think they are too brutal to not use.

Salamance: EVs in Attack/Speed
----
Earthquake
Aerial Ace
Dragon Claw
Dragon Dance

i figure he'd be a physical sweeper, looks good to me. seems pretty solid, don't think i'll need to change much.

Metagross: EVs in Special Attack/HP
----
Psychic
Meteor Mash
Shadow Ball
Agility

i like this because i can take out a lot of groups, and i have agility for that speed boost to sweep, i think it's great.

Snorlax: EVs in HP/Defense
----
Rest
Substitute
Double-Edge
Shadow Ball

all around tough tank, looks good on paper to me at least. can't wait to raise it in-game.

MewTwo: EVs in Special Attack/Special Defense
----
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Calm Mind
Recover

i know people hate the legendaries but i'm sorry, i go with what i think _looks_ cool. i think calm mind is just beyond perfect, it's probably my favorite ability.

Blaziken: EVs in Attack/Special Attack/Speed
----
Blaze Kick
Sky Uppercut
Aerial Ace
Swords Dance

blaziken is just brutal in the fact that it has a great type combination, i'm not sure how good this one is but it seems sweet. =)

Tyranitar: EVs in Attack/Defense
----
Crunch
Earthquake
Dragon Dance
???? (maybe Outrage?)

i NEED a dark type to just destroy psychic types, and tyranitar just looks so menacing i love it. but i can't think of a fourth move, let alone a great moveset, any ideas?

SkinnyGreenMan November 16th, 2004 7:27 PM

You might want to fix up Mewtwo. It is ment to be a Special Sweeper, so why shadow ball?

Mewtwo
EVs: Special Attack/Speed

Psychic
Ice Beam
Calm Mind
Flamethrower/HP Specal/Thunderbolt
----
Blaziken looks good.
----
Dragon Dance is a good move, so I guess you could make good use of it with your moveset:

Tyranitar
EVs: Attack/Specal Attack OR Attack/Speed
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Brick Break/Aerial Ace/HP Physical/Rock Slide
Crunch OR Rock Slide

But if you must have crunch, I guess that works too.

Frostweaver November 16th, 2004 7:30 PM

Salamence- dragon claw is useless here... get rock slide there instead, or fire blast if rock slide isn't available to hit Skarmory (but rock slide is more useful.)

Metagross- sp.atk? That's just pointless... ghost is physical, mind you. Metagross's psychic type is really rather pointless besides neutralizing fighting attack damage, and fighting Weezing (and only Weezing.) Ditching Psychic for earthquake is probably a much better choice. Be sure that your speed is 198 as well if you're using agility. This probably means sacrificing some EVs in other areas, but the sacrifice is well worth the trade.

Snorlax- take off substitute for brick break if you want it to be a tank. Also, shift some def into attack.

Mewtwo- calm mind sucks without the speed to help it sweep. Change all sp.def to speed, and be sure to get a speed boosting nature. Get calm mind/psychic/2 special attack. Recover if you want Mewtwo to be a special tanker, but if you're doing that, get boltbeam instead of psychic.

Blaziken- blaze kick needs to be replaced by overheat... aerial ace is not too good of an attack due to the low power. But your call... earthquake and rock slide works as well.

Tyranitar- if you're dragon dancing, you may want to shift def to speed. Remove crunch, and add on 2 physical attacks again. Oh, and Tyranitar isn't too good of an anti-psychic types anyway. Not to mention, there's hardly any psychic types out there but Alakazam and Exeggutor, and Eggy will decimate Tyranitar either way.

Nathaniel Essex November 16th, 2004 7:49 PM

thanks!

alright, well my blaziken now will be:

Overheat
Sky Uppercut
Swords Dance
Rock Slide
----
EVs in Attack/Special Attack/Speed

and now my MewTwo is:

Psychic
Calm Mind
Recover
Thunderbolt
----
EVs in Special Attack/Speed

Tyranitar is now

Earthquake
Crunch
Dragon Dance
Brick Break
----
EVs in Attack/Speed

and finally Metagross

Psychic
Meteor Mash
Agility
Earthquake
----
EVs in Attack/Speed

anymore suggestions?

Frostweaver November 16th, 2004 7:54 PM

Blaziken still doesn't need any sp.atk EV, because overheat is a one use only thing until switch anyway. Its base power is high enough as it is.

Tyranitar can just drop crunch all together. It's useless... no one should use crunch but Houndoom >>; Not that crunch is a bad move, but it's just stuck on Pokemon who will suck using it besides Houndoom. Tyranitar's attack is much higher than sp.atk anyway, so stick with attack. Plus you got dragon dance to further strengthen your attack. Use rock slide instead of crunch, for STAB and physical power.

Toothache November 16th, 2004 8:03 PM

Physical Mewtwo can work wonders if you play it right, it's slightly unexpected, after all...

[email protected]/Salac/Lum Berry
EV: 252 Att, 252 Speed, 6 Sp Def
Nature: + Att, - Def
Brick Break
Shadow Ball
Earthquake/Rock Slide/Psychic
Ice Beam/Thunderbolt/Calm Mind/Earthquake

Brick Break deals with Dark types, Shadow Ball for other Psychics and Ghosts, and then insert your choice of physical or special move - it's not like Mewtwo needs any EV or nature bonus to it's Special Attack, after all.

Snorlax: Put some EV in Special Defence rather than Defence, and you may want to slip in some for Attack as well.

[email protected]
EV: 252 HP, 129 Att, 129 Sp Def
Nature: + Att, - Speed
Substitute
Focus Punch
Shadow Ball
Rest

Salamence: Drop Dragon Claw for Flamethrower, and Earthquake for Brick Break, otherwise fine. Adds a bit of Skarmbliss protection to your team

Blaziken - Blaziken's type combination is actually pretty detrimental to itself, adding more weaknesses than strengths.

Blazik[email protected] Berry
EV: 252 Att, 252 Speed, 6 Sp Def
Nature: + Speed, - Sp Att
Endure
Reversal
Shadow Ball/HP Ghost/Rock Slide
Overheat

Can't remember if Blaziken can learn Shadow Ball, if not use HP Ghost or Rock Slide instead

Tyranitar - you can do without Crunch, so leave it. Mixed sweeping with T-tar isn't so great.

[email protected]/Salac/Liechi Berry
EV: 252 Att, 252 Speed, 6 Sp Def
Nature: + Att/Speed, - Sp Att
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Rock Slide
Brick Break/HP Physical

Metagross: Really need to redistribute those EVs...

[email protected]
EV: 129 HP, 129 Def, 252 Att
Nature: + Def/Att, - Sp Def
HP Steel
Earthquake
Shadow Ball
Agility/Psychic

Consider Psychic for anti-Weezing purposes.

Nathaniel Essex November 16th, 2004 8:52 PM

revision 3.

gotcha, alright, let's try this.

Metagross (EVs: 252 Attack/129 HP/129 Defense)
Psychic
Meteor Mash
Earthquake
Agility

Snorlax (EVs: 252 HP/129 Defense/129 Sp. Defense)
Rest
Substitute
Shadow Ball
Double-Edge

MewTwo (EVs: 252 Speed/252 Sp. Attack/6 Sp. Defense)
Psychic
Thunderbolt
Recover
Calm Mind

Blaziken (EVs: 252 Attack/252 Speed/6 Sp. Attack)
Overheat
Sky Uppercut
Swords Dance
Rock Slide

Salamance (EVs: 252 Attack/252 Speed/6 Defense)
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Brick Break
Aerial Ace

Tyranitar (EVs: 252 Speed/252 Attack/6 Defense)
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Rock Slide
Crunch

sounds good? i'm sorry i just like dark attack moves and i need to have a difference between salamance and tyranitar, even if it is just two moves.
