Ocarina of Time on the 3DS!?

Quote:

In a recent interview, Eiji Aonuma told Official Nintendo Magazine that Nintendo’s newest upcoming handheld console – the Nintendo 3DS – is a perfect fit for the Zelda series:

“With the Nintendo 3DS, all of the new elements and the 3D technology is perfect for The Legend Of Zelda series. It’s everything from the depth that you get from riding through vistas or a more accurate sense of distance between you and the enemy you are fighting. I think it is perfect for this series. Of course we are very excited to see what it can do.”

Needless to say, we’re excited too! The 3D technology and updated graphics will certainly add a level of realism to the 3DS remake of Ocarina of Time. As the game is a beloved title for many a Zelda fan, it’s likely comforting for many to know that the only changes revealed thus far have been improvements to the overall look and feel of the game.
I just read this, and i was like EPIC WIN!!!!

i just hope they dont screw it up by changing everything, i wouldnt mind the enemies being updated so their harder, the ice cavern being a full dungeon like it was meant to be, & hyrule field having more to it, maybe even putting a light temple with a boss so we earn the 1st medallion, & add the unicorn fountain with the sword beam just for fun, maybe even a 2nd quest with everything twice as hard. And i LOVE the updated Graphics, none of the Cel Shaded crap.

so tell me, what would you like to see in:
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time [for the 3DS]

tell us all the things you want to see changed, updated,& exc.
or do you just want the classic good old Ocarina of Time?

I hope they'll bring fun that isn't fleeting, but this is a Zelda game, so I know my hopes will be too high.

If I actually buy the 3DS I'll be sure to get this as I never actually played the OoT before.

countryemo July 28th, 2010 10:29 PM

I never really did play this, the first enime boss thing in the deku tree was to hard for me xD nver passed that.
i would probally still but this, wvwn though o would still get the 3ds. yay for waiting LoZ OoT 3DS to become old and used to buy at cheeper prices :/ very few times o get "new" oh well. i cant wait, i think itll be a interesting gameplay, and i like the zelda seires that i played. but i think i heard Majora mask was interesting hopefully theyll remake that to, never heard of it/ mean played, saw ect.

I'm totally getting this. I mean seriously, look at that. It's like, completely remade. It's not a port, it's completely remade! Gah! How can you beat that sweet deal?!

JeXsus™ July 29th, 2010 12:54 AM

3DS you will be mine!! And so will this game and several others. Such as Kingdom Hearts 3D! ^_^

Barney. July 29th, 2010 3:58 AM

3DS. Best Fan Service ever? Possibly.

MEGA WIN BUY WIN WIN NOT FAIL WINW INWINWIWNWIWN OLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Side note: OoT is certainly not my favorite Zelda, that title goes to Wind Waker, but it's still one of the best Zeldas going.

TRIFORCE89 July 29th, 2010 4:21 AM

I'm not sure what route this game will take.

Option A) The Super Mario All-Stars route. Essentially the same game with obvious visual improvements and some bug fixes. Possibly a compilation, maybe Master Quest will be featured as the second quest.

Option B) The Super Mario 64 DS route. Essentially the same game with obvious visual improvements and some bug fixes. But, with a couple of new stages and gameplay elements. Sorta feels like a gimmicky rerelease

Option C) The Pokemon route. An "enhanced remake". Take what we loved and make it modern. Not a replica remake and we accept and embrace the differences. And new features and gameplay elements.

Option D) The Metroid: Zero Mission route. This lies somewhere between Mario All-Stars and Pokemon. Basically the NES game with better graphics but modernized to fit with and play like more modern entries in the series. A epilogue of sorts was added (kinda like the Sevii Islands in FRLG).

I have a feeling we'll end up with Option A. I'm hoping for things to be more like C or D

Jolene July 29th, 2010 5:20 AM

I think there are a lot of things in Ocarina of Time that need to be improved for it to still be a good game nowadays. I don't mind really if they add any new things I just hope they bring the older things up to date because some of it is really bad!

JakeyBoy July 29th, 2010 5:32 AM

Wait, so they've actually decided to release it? When did this happen?

Anyway, I knew I would get this if it came out since the pictures were found hidden in the E3 website. It's just so goddamn pretty <3

I Laugh at your Misfortune! July 29th, 2010 8:27 AM

As long as they redo the Water Temple, it's epic win.

Yes, I don't want a rehash like they did with Pokemon. FRLG were just big no-no's in my book. I don't even like them. If they're going to do this with the game that's considered to be the greatest game of all time, they better not screw around. Super Mario 64 DS was fail. I don't like it, and I never will like it. I'm embarrassed to own it. I'm hoping for your A option, seeing that All-Stars is a great thing to have. I grew up with it.

I actually laughed out loud at that, haha.

OoT was one of my favorite games as a kid, it is the best game in the whole series in my mind. So yes i'll most likely buy this remake if I get a 3DS that is. Also I hope they keep the game play the same, but just upgrade the graphics.

Izanagi July 29th, 2010 2:08 PM

Heck yeah, I'm excited! I was born into the Gamecube generation, so I haven't had an opportunity to play Ocarina of Time. I'm stoked.

gamecube kinda sucked, only good things were pokemon, metroid, need for speed, & call of duty... wind waker was horrible, well the final dungeon was the worst part, but it was still pretty bad, overly easy, the sailing took too long & i cant stand that cel-shaded crap link is supposed to be a badass hero not a cutesy lil midget (no offense to midgets, i love yall).

but ya im stoked too :cer_boogie:

I know we haven't seen much of it, but it looks kinda cel-shaded.

Or at least not Twilight Princess levels of detail. Looks like it reflects the official art a bit.

Agreed completely, that was one thing that always bothered me was there wasn't much interaction with the enemies, they just attacked etc. Should be interesting to see though :).

i hope the stalfos arent so easily hit, cuz if you lean into a strike, you can usually hit them threw their shield lol

plus if they have better AI, theyll be able to dodge my barrage of jump attacks >:]

Eternal Nightmare July 29th, 2010 5:06 PM

Hell yeah I'm excited for OOT on the 3Ds :D. The graphics looks so beauturful. I don't want new gimmicks like Super Mario 64DS no no no. Just plain old OOT with a bit more challenging bosses and dungeons I suppose. Also I don't see don't see the use of the touch screen except for choosing items. God I really don't want to control Link via stylus like Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks :<.

Wind Waker's not horrible. It's dragged out, but not horrible. It made Player's Choice for GCN for a reason, you know.

Also, in regards to the graphics that we see from screenshots, I like that it looks like N64 style, but before this was announced, I hoped for an OoT remake, but with TP graphics. The dark storyline is just crying for those gorgeous graphics. But if sticking to N64 style is the approach, I won't complain. This was and still is a great game to play, and I'm glad that with this remake, people that weren't around for the original will be able to give it a shot. However, I do feel that playing the original is better, but that's just me.

Eurydice July 29th, 2010 7:53 PM

omgosh i am so excited for this. ocarina of time is one of my favorite video games of all time i cant wait for this. it looks so amazing ^_^

Timbjerr July 29th, 2010 8:26 PM

As ashamed as I am to admit it, even though I was gaming since the SNES era, I didn't get into the Zelda series until WW came out, and I was 15 at the time of its release. The only time I've played OoT was through the Wii's Virtual Console, and despite how great the gameplay is, the graphics just haven't aged that well. I'd really love to see a polished remake on the 3DS. Between that, Pokemon B/W, and Kid Icarus, my purchase of the 3DS is sealed. :P

best game of all time? i surely don't and never did think it was the best of all time. hell, i can name 20 games i like better than OoT. i do, however, hope they don't **** with it too much. on the same note, i hope they don't leave everything the same and just enhance the graphics.

I wasn't speaking on behalf of the entire world, just the majority of the game's reception. Websites and magazines consider it that way, so don't take it to heart. But I do agree. That's what Nintendo did when Red and Blue were remade, along with adding some islands. And that was really it. I don't want that.

I'm not looking forward to fishing for a Heart Piece and a Gold Scale though, that's for sure.

Everyone has blocky hands, triangle noses, and square hair. :P I'm sure that'll be improved. It is a little awkward to look at.

Aro-kun July 29th, 2010 9:35 PM

](^ o^)-b Yaaaaaay better graphics ftw. I'm sooo buying this! I hope they do it "Enhanced remake" style. I never finished Oot cause i was young and scared to go in the shadow temple ((( \('~')/ ))) I'm gonna finish it this time.
