If the seasons are just for looks, not affecting Pokemon rarities or availability than I will be happy. If it DOES take 2-3 months to have more Pokemon available to me, that too is fine. I am a pretty laid back guy, I do not believe in hacking, I always take pride in my in-game accomplishments. If I have to wait for something, it makes it more worthwhile. It saddens me to see people play the game solely for competitive reasons, its a GAME, which is meant to be enjoyed. These games will have plenty of longevity/replay value, which is well appreciated from me.=)

I do as well, I don't mind waiting 2-3 months to get a Pokemon :)

Decent idea, but hope there aren't season-exclusive Pokemon. I could forget playing my DS even when im waiting for a Pokemon to appear in a specific season. :(

Then again, you have a whole season to remind yourself to get those Pokemon added to your collection. Plenty of time to pace yourself.

On that note, I hope they pack the game full of season exclusives to keep me occupied. I wouldn't mind seeing holidays too. Sure, some people don't believe in those holidays, but hey, Animal Crossing did it and no one filed a lawsuit.

Dark Rukario July 30th, 2010 9:19 PM

I really like the idea of seasons, and I don't think I'd mind having to wait 2-3 months for the seasons to change because it would be more realistic that way. In Animal Crossing I used to ocassionally change the date if I needed something from another season, the only problem with that was weeds xD

Morgnarok July 30th, 2010 9:27 PM

Well,It doesn't sound like the best or worst idea they had but we will see when the time comes.

@Everyone: Argue with this logic! XD

I will argue... I don't wait 3 or 4 seasons to complete my fish collection.. I get bored so i fastforward the clock... I am sure lots of people do or have done this...

Yeah, I expect all of those who don't want to wait will fast forward while those of us who would wait 3 months won't fast forward :)

Ho-Oh July 31st, 2010 12:18 AM

I really love the seasons idea, however I don't think it'll go along with actual time.

Instead, I think it'll be determined for a week based on your ID number, as to when you get different seasons. You might get winter for two weeks in a row, but nothing more than that, or...! It varies between days, or it could be tied into the storyline, (which matches the other idea) like... about going back in time, and then in each point the seasons change and something relevant happens, idk. D:

...actually all of those ideas are unlikely, I just can't wait to see it in-game.

vibratingcat July 31st, 2010 12:27 AM

haha sounds pretty cool. Shame i will be importing it from japan so the seasons would be opposite.

ionbru xp July 31st, 2010 4:29 AM

I hope Australia and the rest of the southern hemisphere get opposite seasons :)
in animal crossing having snowfall during our summer was really weird...

Kanto_Johto July 31st, 2010 4:34 AM

Real time seasons?

You have got to be kidding me. Terrible idea. Having to wait 3 months, 6 months or even 9 months to get a Pokemon is a ridiculously long time. I'd lose a lot of respect for GF if they included that.

I hope that we get season-exclusive Pokémon, like the Pokémon that we can only fin at certain times of the day, or days of the week!!!!!!!! :D

I hope these will be real seasons, like on Animal Crossing; not fake seasons that change throughout the week, or something like that.

I also think that we will see special forms of Pokémon, depending on the season (something like the forms of Burmy).

Somehow I think that seasons wont be on every route, and I also dont think Pokemon will be relative to seasons.

I dont want to wait months for a certain pokemon.

giradialkia July 31st, 2010 6:55 AM

The inclusion of seasons? Hell yes. I don't even know why, but I just think it's really cool. However, I doubt, and would seriously hate if Pokemon were to become exclusive to a certain season. Yeah, you could probably fast forward, but that'd probably screw up something else, like transferring from the Gen 4 games.
So... Seasons= Yay. Season Exclusive Pokemon= Nay.

WarpstarX July 31st, 2010 7:07 AM

I time travel all the time in Animal Crossing and in PKMN:SS so if pokemon were exclusive to different seasons (which I actually doubt a bit) It wouldn't be a problem.

Blueknight July 31st, 2010 7:11 AM

Maybe this is how we'll get leafeon/glaceon. Level up eevee in the winter to get glaceon. Of course we could always give leafeon a leaf stone.

Åzurε July 31st, 2010 8:09 AM

I've always been bugged by faster-than-normal day/night cycles. 24 hours is more reasonable to wait out than months, but I'd be happier personally with a calendar-accurate seasonal system. Assuming it's a game-wide phenomenon, it would present some fun challenge-play throughs. I don't think it will be (unless there's a reason they're releasing all this stuff in the summer), but it's nice to hope. You can change the date and stuff if you really gotta have something from another season, anyways.

Spherical Ice July 31st, 2010 8:14 AM

I think maybe having more common Pokémon in different seasons, but not Season-exclusive Pokemon, would be pretty neat. Either way, I think this is a cool novelty that I always like in games. :>

Sorry, but you can't actually know that for sure. In DPPt if the time in-game was different to the DS' internal clock, you'd have to wait a day to be able to migrate. I assume it'sd the same for HGSS. I'd imagine they'd do something like that for transferring Pokemon, if you were to change the clock. Though you're right, that wouldn't affect the season-exclusive Pokemon (if they were to be implemented into the game).

Well, actually, no. You're wrong. The game time is set by the DS Clock, so it can't be different. It detects if it has been changed, and it won't let you migrate again until Midnight has passed and a new day starts. So, if, for instance, you wanted to time travel in DP to Friday for Drifloon, all you need to do is set it to 11:59 PM on Thursday.

As for the topic, real time seasons would be awesome. I can't see completely different Pokemon for each season, but maybe one or two in each area being exclusive to the season. It'd be cool to see season based evolutions.

...I wish people would stop whining that seasons would be too long to wait for a certain Pokemon. I always hated the fact that the games seemed to be stuck in Spring/Summer. It felt unnatural.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire August 1st, 2010 4:39 PM

I think only that we could have some pokemon that are typically rare become more common during a certain season...for example some pokemon mate in the spring so we will see more of those pokemon...

Though to be honest, it'd be pretty interesting to see what winter would look like in certain areas. Frozen lakes, anyone?

And then you could do Ice fishing! lol

True.

Because, as can be extrapolated from how Gen IV's reacts to editing the date, it is not something the game wants you to do.

I've never had a problem messing with that date

It doesn't cause major problems. It locks out time based events until the next day. You really never noticed?
