1 new pokemon,Victinis' type !

The Japanese Yahoo website has inadvertently leaked Ken Sugimori images of a new Bug-type Pokemon, the previously revealed swan Pokemon, and Shikijika. You can see all three images below. Victini has been confirmed as a Psychic / Fire type. It is the Victory Pokemon and has a new ability called Victory Star. It stands 0.4m tall and weighs 4.0kg. Ken Sugimori images of Aloe, Dento, and Team Plasma were also leaked.

The swan looks so much better now and that bug is pure win..!

560cool. August 3rd, 2010 5:30 AM

Wow... poor Aloe. She's so fat.
Anyways, I'm excited about Fire/Psychic typing. A lot actually.
And the new bug looks great. I think the swan will be Water/Flying imo.

Mujahid August 3rd, 2010 5:32 AM

I think that's just her apron and the swan probably will be water/flying....but that bug looks awesome..i'm all excited for it's evolutions !

mikaldinho August 3rd, 2010 5:35 AM

wow, this is some cool info!

Sammuthegreat August 3rd, 2010 5:35 AM

Suddenly Victini is near the top of my must-use Pokemon list... I've been wanting a Psychic/Fire Pokemon since the first Generation. I wanted something a bit... bigger and fiercer. But you can't have it all.

Also, really like the bug, can't stand the little deer, and the swan is so much better in this picture.

560cool. August 3rd, 2010 5:36 AM

Well, you may be right. xD
I can see that little bug turning into an awesome, fiery leaf which will be Fire/Bug. That's be awesome.4 4x Weakness to Rock tho'. :|

Ho-Oh August 3rd, 2010 5:41 AM

Oh my God, 5th Gen's Caterpie <3

The other two are... less cute, but I still like them!

Also what Fire/Psyduck?

...Psychic*, wow. XDD;

Chrisixx August 3rd, 2010 5:54 AM

cool :D i like the swan and the new bug... but how can you get Victini again?

thedestinedblade August 3rd, 2010 6:00 AM

The bug is definitely cute. :D Psychic/Fire is an interesting new typing. I think it's the apron that's making Aloe look rather round.

JAK3 August 3rd, 2010 6:01 AM

Agreed. 5th Gen Caterpie should be full of win, and it's good to know that they are keeping the tradition rolling. Can't wait to see more on it, because I'm lovin' the buggy.

Sora's Nobody August 3rd, 2010 6:03 AM

That bug ppokemon is so cool! and yes Aloe really does look fat. so they are bringing to things in this generation a black person and a fat gym/elite

Volroc August 3rd, 2010 6:04 AM

*falls over laughin* i called it, i was the first person to say Victini was fire, you guys doubted me, i wasnt wrong hyeahaahahhaahahhha

i like the new bug, its got the 1st gen look, but it feels fresh& unique

the swan is ok, & bambie is awesome XD

Planetes. August 3rd, 2010 6:35 AM

I ACTUALLY LOVE THAT BUG POKEMON, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, I HATE BUG POKEMON NORMALLY...

Guy August 3rd, 2010 6:38 AM

Fifth Gen's Caterpie is so cute. I like it already and can only imagine its evolutions to get better.

I always liked the swan. I too agree that it might be Water/Flying.
If I didn't know any better, this region is coming in with quite a few flying types [Mamepato, Hatooboo (Mamepato's evo?), Koromori, Wooguru, plus Swan].

Shikijika is cute. I assume it's going to be a Grass type considering the flower upon its head.

That wasn't how I pictured Aloa to be like from her VS. screen shot, but she's not actually fat; it's just the pants and apron that are brought out too much in the art concept. I'm still curious to exactly what her role is in the game (Elite? Gym Leader? Or something else?).

Eternal Nightmare August 3rd, 2010 6:53 AM

Loving this gen even more than I already do. I also REALLY happy about Victinis typing. Psychic and fire are both my favorite types so I'm content. I really wonder what his ability does actually.

The caterpiller looks so great and has that caterpie style to it. I hope it doesn't evolve into a butterfly though and will be more playable that Butterfree and Beautifly.

The swan looks rather attitudish in the artwork. Like its ready to yell at someone. And the stance reminds me of a mom with her hands on her hips xD. The deer hmm because of the artwork and seeing it close up I have my doubts about it being a Stantler pre evo but only time will tell.

I'm glad to see a nice unstereotypical black women in a game such as pokemon. Hopefully Aloe is strong and give me a run for my money.

PalkiaSpace August 3rd, 2010 6:58 AM

Upon looking at Aloe again, she isn't reallly fat, but the pants are like 23 sizes too big and the arpon is huge. She looks like a Big Bertha follower from Ranger 2. remember her? lol

The Bug type, Like said before, is full of epic win. I bet it'l'l only learn like, bug bite an string shot, but I don't care, it's going to be on my team.

Shikijika is... Like a deer version of Shaymin. I'm guessing Grass, or maybe even Grass/Normal, or Normal/Grass...

The swan is amazing. Do I sence a freind for Altaria? (looks wise, not evo wise) Or a Split Wingull evo?

We saw team plasma the other day...

Dento... I'd rather not say anything.

Charizard★ August 3rd, 2010 6:58 AM

Wow, they look pretty sweet xD
I like the deer one xD

Spherical Ice August 3rd, 2010 7:40 AM

Omg Gen5 Caterpie <33.
Cool typing for Victini, and nice swan. Not so sure about the deer though. :/

pichuspark August 3rd, 2010 7:55 AM

Nice typing for Victini! :D
D'awwwwwwww! That 5th Gen Caterpie is so adorable! I wonder what it's gonna evolve into...

Åzurε August 3rd, 2010 7:57 AM

Psy/Fire, huh? Interesting. So much for PUREFLYING!, but this is good too.
The new Pokemon designs aren't bad at all. The swan isn't much more than a stylized mudane swan, but that's okay. Shikijika is sort of odd. Very much reminiscent of Shaymin. Assuming Aloe's a trainer, she looks like she could be pretty tough, and Dento... Is a guy, right? The design is not bad, it's just hard to tell. xD I wonder what Victory Star does.

She isnt fat, she is just wearing big clothing.

The Gen 5 caterpie looks amazing but I hate his potential typing of Grass/Bug because of 2 4x weaknesses and 3 other regular weaknesses. Hopefully it turns out to have better stats than Parasect in it's final form.

I am guessing the Swan pokemon is one of Aloe's pokemon and is Water/Flying.

I would love if the Shikijinka branch evo season theory is true. I would love for a Normal/Fire, Normal/Grass, Normal/Ice and Normal/Psychic.

Psychic/Fire on Victini makes it a great special sweeper.

It seems like we are getting tons of psychic and fire types and very little water types for once. We still need more Dark and Ghost types.

New bug Pokemon? Oh, that's just Weedle and Burmy's child.

The deer looks okay now that I've seen some better artwork of it, but what's with the Shellos coat? I actually like the swan, and I've always thought Weedle and Burmy were cool Pokemon. Aloe looks ridiculous, and I still think Dento is a bit fruity...

Bay August 3rd, 2010 8:27 AM

Haha, I was correct that Victini looks like it'll be able to flick a fire with that sly look on its face. XD However, didn't expect it to be part psychic. D: Even though it would be nice that another tiny legendary isn't psychic, I'm cool with the fire/psychic typing.

I like the bug's art. Looks cute, though it reminds me more of Weedle and than Caterpie. XD. Can't wait to see what kind of bug it'll evolve into. Shikijika's art is adorable (again, BAMBIIIIII), but when looking at the trailer I thought its fur color was brown, not pink. O.o I also like the art of that swan. It looks fierce. XD

I too like Aloe and Dento's art. I notice though Dento's art has his eyes slightly bigger than his anime counterpart. Also, looks like Dento will be important somehow in the games, so can't wait to see that.

I indeed remember that. I guess you were right. It still doesn't look like a fire type to me, nor a psychic one for that matter.

That swan looks a lot better than it did in that previous art. I like it a lot more now. I also think it'll be one of Aloe's Pokemon. It has the same pose as Aloes artwork. :P

Masterge77 August 3rd, 2010 9:10 AM

If you look closely, the deer has Skymin's head and tail, as well as Shellos' colors (pink and white seperated by a yellow band), even more closely, it has Skitty's forehead, obviously, the next CoroCoro will have all these Pokemon and characters, complete with their names and types......

Neptun August 3rd, 2010 10:38 AM

I hate the swan, but will admit that it looks better on that picture than the one Serebii had. Totally love the other! I'm so exited for the new game ^_^

That bug is so awesome! he is so cute with his little teeth sticking out! :D
I like the swan, but she looks like she is in a bad mood.
I love Victini's typing,very cool.
I like the deer more since I saw the offical artwork.
and Aloe...she is not a Team Plasma member..she looks like a chef.

WarpstarX August 3rd, 2010 11:26 AM

That leaf makes the new bug look bug grass to me (even after it evolves) any body else?

I was actually considering the same thing. Could it's final stage have leaf-like wings perhaps?

Bamboo Basara August 3rd, 2010 11:31 AM

I think this is the first bug Pokemon I have ever liked. Hell, I adore the little guy, I can't wait to catch some. :)

I wonder what it will evolve into. A Centipede would be pretty cool.

Thunderpunch August 3rd, 2010 11:36 AM

I like the swan. the others look too babyish.

Smitje August 3rd, 2010 12:53 PM

The bug might evolve in a walking leaf or some kind..

Ynfiniti8 August 3rd, 2010 1:10 PM

Victini's typing is awesome and unique. I was hoping for some new typings this gen.
That bug pokemon would so pwn Arceus in a battle. I want one!
The swan pokemon probably belongs to Aloe. And I think that maybe Hatooboo (pokemon revealed earlier in demo leak) might evolve into it, however I might be wrong and it might just be an evolution of Mamepato.
The deer is, well... a deer, but I'm interested in it's typing.
Also Aloe needs to change clothes, she does look fat.

Myzou August 3rd, 2010 1:35 PM

Honestly, I'm beginning to wonder if the Swan is a Farfetch'd evo.

It's eyes and stance are very similar to how Farfetch'd acts in the games and the anime.

(The Ugly Duckling - a Duck turns into a swan~)

Dillon_68 August 3rd, 2010 1:37 PM

That new bug Pokemon is an EPIC WIN.

I'm surprised at how much love that little worm is getting, I expected a lot of hate! But of course I love him, bug and grass being my two favorite types. I think a centipede is a very good idea for his evolution. I hope that happens. He will most likely be on my team.

dieter57 August 3rd, 2010 1:45 PM

i love the bug and the swan!
and victini=WIN!!!
and also, is it just me or does it look like shayminn sky form had a baby with a shellos to make that wierd deer thing?
i also think the bug will be bug/dark or bug/grass
swan will be water flying
and the deer either grass/normal, psychic/normal, or just normal.

Haza August 3rd, 2010 1:53 PM

Yay! Bug/Grass finally... maybe we will get a Tree Hopper Pokemon... or a Leaf Bug. Aloe... not as "thin" as I though she'd be.

ummm... wormadam?
well, atleast in the plant cloak anyway.

i think aloes apron makes her look bigger then she is.

Dillon_68 August 3rd, 2010 2:04 PM

Is everyone forgetting Paras/Parasect for GEN 1? Bug/Grass isn't new....

Haza August 3rd, 2010 2:16 PM

Oh, I guess I did forget about those... well, I'm still excited about this one because it's actually cute.
Also, Victini has surprised me once again. It's typing is awesome. We officially have confirmation that this generation will bring at least 6 new Fire-Types.

Hm, I don't think Farfetch'd would evolve into that swan. I think it's a bit drastic for a Pokemon game to have one species (a duck) evolve into a totally different species (a swan). Not counting bugs or Poliwag/Poliwhirl/Politoed since those ones are more realistic. Also, I would assume Ferfetch'd would still have that stalk if it were to evolve.

It's not THAT "farfetched" to have an ugly duck Pokemon evolve into a beautiful swan... have you ever heard the story of the ugly duckling? And maybe it is just a female evolution...

Yeah, I heard about it, but still not so sure. Don't know why, but I don't think the games will use that story as a basis for Farfetch'd's evolution, even if they have based the many myths and stories of Pokemon from various sources. Then again, if anything, it could be an evolution only for the female Farfetch'd. Also, like I said, that swan didn't have that stalk. In the Pokedex entries, Farfetch'd can't live without its stalk. It would be weird to me if Farfetch'd evolved and didn't have its stalk.

remoraid>octilary?
please tell me how a fish turns into an octopus.
at least farfetch'd is a water foul, just like swan.

but i don't think farfetch'd evolves into swan anyway.

True that's a bit weird, but according to Remoraid's bulbapedia entry, Remoraid and Octillery are based around gun artillery also, so that kinda works I guess.

Okay, think that's enough for this Farfeth'd evolution discussion in this thread for me. x_x

dieter57 August 3rd, 2010 2:48 PM

agreed.
how about that deer pokemon?
your thoughts?

Luck August 3rd, 2010 2:50 PM

Oh god, that bug is so hideous. Not even 100 Wooguru's can make up for how ugly that bug and Munna/Musharna are.
I'm at a loss for words when I see that most of you actually like the new pokemon.

Fire/Psychic though, that's pretty interesting, I may not hate that weird phallic legendary as much as I normally did.

Haza August 3rd, 2010 3:07 PM

The deer looks more reindeer based than Stantler so I don't think they are related.

Gardenia101 August 3rd, 2010 3:12 PM

They are all so cute!
XD
I will especially want to catch that deer, looks like a grass type

CakeForTheSoul August 3rd, 2010 3:17 PM

I like the Bug. I see Sky form Shaymin being paired with the Reindeer.

Zelda August 3rd, 2010 3:53 PM

They all have great designs and I am very fond of them.

The deer looks really cute; it looks like it could be Bambi's sister. xD It also looks like it would be a normal type pokémon.
As for the swan, not many people like it but I think it's awesome. Reminds me of Pelipper for some odd reason. I still find it pretty cool anyway.

The bug type is so adorable. It's the new worm pokémon after Caterpie and Wurmple I suppose. The leaf on its head is huge!

ShinyFufu August 3rd, 2010 4:43 PM

I think 5th gen caterpie will be bug/grass.

Logiedan August 3rd, 2010 4:58 PM

I absolutely love that bug's design. Though i have a feeling it'll evolve into something more aggressive. ];

Dark Rukario August 3rd, 2010 5:00 PM

The new bug and that deer looking one are gorgeous! The bug reminds me of Weedle, but is cute in it's own way.

dieter57 August 3rd, 2010 5:19 PM

why is it that when i look at the bug, i think of this Fakemon?

I was the first to say it, so whadda I win? Sorry, Volroc, but you come in close second. Give me my prize, give me my prize. Such an important Pokemon, and I was the first to suggest its full typing. Again, I'm sorry, Volroc, but if it's any consolation, you still correctly predicted one of its types. And you said that before me. So, technically, we're tied.

destinedjagold August 3rd, 2010 10:24 PM

The pink deer is so darn cute, and it kinda reminds me of shaymin somehow...

I bet you all a million bucks that bug evolves into that mantis.

Livewire August 4th, 2010 2:07 AM

heck yes for Pyrokinesis! (psy/fire) thats pretty awesome typing. :D

Im really, really loving that bug for some reason, its a cuter weedle. And im glad the swan is better looking than it was shown to be in that pokebeach (i think) image. whew. :/

So it goes from a leaf bug to a armored axe dinosaur?

That "Mantis" has bug like armor because it probably undergoes what Larvitar and Bagon did. Larvitar and Bagon both evolved into Cocoon like Pokemon and then they evolved into massive and powerful bug like Dragons. Kibago probably undergoes this same change when turning into Ononokusu.

Back to the Leaf Bug:
It will probably turn into a cocoon and then into some sort of bug/flying or grass/flying pokemon. Or it could be different and not be a Cocoon or flying bug after all.

IMO, This is just adding to the whole "Isshu is part of America" in my eyes.

Bambi is an american cartoon, and it's obvious part of the inspiration was from Bambi, at least to me. The colorations, if replaced with Bambi's colors, would be a Pokemon-ized form of Bambi.

The swan, if it ends up evolving FROM a duck (not saying Farfetch'd as suggesting that earlier made people go NOOOO:P) is based on the Ugly Duckling, one of the most famous childrens stories in the US.

At least to me, these just add to the possibility that Isshu is america. The map matching New York and many other things also. XD

Ah: And it has to be said - The fawn looks like a West Sinnoh Gastrodon and a Stantler had an egg, then stole a flower from Shaymin and Dyed it. >_>

o0PinkSquid0o August 4th, 2010 4:17 AM

I Looooove the bug!! its sooo cute!! Finally a cute bug pokemon!
I hate the swan even more and that picture has ruined the deer thing for me too... it looks like something out of a kids bedtime story book :S

Also I think Fire/Psychic is an awesome combo, I just wish it was on a pokemon other than a legendary. I hate using legendaries in my team :(

Dmatt August 4th, 2010 5:47 AM

That bug is the biggest win in a pokemon design for this gen. It's like it came straight out of a gen 1 time capsule ... I *love* it.

That and the grass starter's eye are pure pokemon spirited wins.

Swan and bambi are cool, all is looking good.

1- i dont see how that thing is a mantis at all:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a8/Mantis_religiosa.jpg
while [insert image of pokemon here]
has no arms, likes like a dinosaur, and doesnt even have bug-eyes, it has only the torso-shape in relation to a mantis, therefore its clear not a mantis.

2- nope, its the caterpie, caterpies turn into bees, butterflies,&moths
i think this one is bug/grass

3- its not a bloody mantis, how does it look like a mantis? i mean seriously noones seen a mantis, thats why ive put a picture thats a lil up close& personal with a mantis, cuz Scyther IS a mantis, but that thing is NOT a mantis

4- my hunger rant is over :P

The swan, if it ends up evolving FROM a duck (not saying Farfetch'd as suggesting that earlier made people go NOOOO:P) is based on the Ugly Duckling, one of the most famous childrens stories in the US.

At least to me, these just add to the possibility that Isshu is america. The map matching New York and many other things also. XD

Ah: And it has to be said - The fawn looks like a West Sinnoh Gastrodon and a Stantler had an egg, then stole a flower from Shaymin and Dyed it. >_>

this post has everythin im thinkin :P

oh and to the person who thinks bambie&shi-watta isnt related
look at the pic, theres not THAT much difference
and i doubt you can really count colouration, considering last time i checked slugs werent made of boiling lava,& glowing red *points to slugma*
the tail is a horrible excuse, bambies tail did that several times in the movie, when it moved/was looked at,at certain angles
& lastly, bambie wasnt exactly super long legged when he was born, its called growing, which doesnt happen in pokemon :P

whoot 2 rants :P i must be really hungry lol

Although I agree it's not a mantis, and... unappealing, spoiler please x_X You'll murder someone's connection.

skyluigi2 August 4th, 2010 7:58 AM

OMG the caterpillar looks awesome! :D
i wonder what itll evolve into...

Kanto_Johto August 4th, 2010 11:03 AM

That Bug Pokemon is one of the best designs I've seen so far for this Generation. Simple, but effective, just like every good Pokemon is. I have a feeling it's Caterpie's counterpart for this Gen.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire August 4th, 2010 11:08 AM

wow everyone seems to like the bug :)

I'm i the only one who seems to think there is some sort of connection between http://pokebeach.com/news/0810/bug.jpg

I don't really see a connection between the two :\

I can see where you see how they resemble each other by the colors, but they're two different pokémon. First off, Rankurusu is an Amplification pokémon and it's a psychic type.

The little worm is really cute though.. :3

Azonic August 5th, 2010 6:00 AM

Victini is the most adorable thing evurrrrrrrrrr

I'm impressed by this generation. The only ones I don't like are the two Riolu / Luke clones and the deer. Srsly I mean that deer looks like Skymin with a pink tablecloth wrapped around it.

But the other designs are off the hoook.

What MRAS said.

Game exclusive Pokemon won't evolve from what appears to be common in both games (being the Caterpie clone).

Why is no one talking about Victini's signature move Complete Burn?

Well, it's just been recently revealed the Pokemon has that attack (just found out about it now), but not much info about it yet except most likely it's a fire type attack. I think it might be an attack where it deals with both direct damage and a 100% chance of being burn. Or, it could be an OHKO fire attack.

Smitje August 5th, 2010 8:51 AM

Hey I found this in a dutch forum real or fake???

It's been already confirmed that it's fake. In the fake Pokemon thread, a few people already stated the reasons why it's fake like too many mistakes in Japanese and the quality of the sprites.

incognito322 August 5th, 2010 9:07 AM

Why is no one talking about what Complete Burn might translate into?
I mean come on, if that were the English name, I would laugh.

I think it's Incinerate, since that's what we call complete burning. No other word at the moment would seem to fit that description. (that I can think of)

richmix August 5th, 2010 6:31 PM

These pokemon look cool!! I really like the swan!!!

johnny18 August 7th, 2010 5:25 AM

This gen seems to be very cool.
Love the bug.....Can't wait to have one as my buddy ^_^

GlitchCity August 7th, 2010 6:10 AM

Hrm I'm just going to assume complete burn is either a status changing move... maybe like Spore with 100% accurasy at burning the foe.
Or.... any old fire move with super attack power and probably one stat changing effect.

It actually makes all held berries useless when it attacks someone holding one.

Victini's ability also raises its accuracy.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire August 7th, 2010 4:28 PM

New info came out, apparently Complete burn, gets rid of the foes berries...
Victini's Sa is : Victory star which increases it's Accuracy :) This all came from both Pokebeach and Serebii.

o0PinkSquid0o August 7th, 2010 5:15 PM

Seriously? thats what it does? well that doesn't sound so epic :S

It doesn't...I'm guessing it's such a normal move then not it's Signature move...so it could still have a signature move with the word "Victory flare, ect" in it :D!

Pretty worthless ability, as Keen Eye serves a similar purpose. Then again, it would be pretty scary if it had something like Serene Grace if it got a lot of moves with secondary effects.
Complete Burn seems interesting, but I don't exactly know many people that would use a berry over something like a choice item.

Maybe the ability increases the accuracy level one stage per turn like Speed Boost does to the speed stat.

dragon0fangz August 7th, 2010 7:13 PM

no, idiots! its like compoundeyes, a very epic ability that raises your accuracy. Keen eye PREVENTS your accuracy from lowering. so, its like Hypnosis will hit 95% (example) So Complete Burn , which is at 80% should now have 100% accuracy.

I was wondering if someone corrected the statement as I was reading all these vm :), Yeah it's like Compound-eyes :)

That would be pretty interesting, but I don't think it would make that much of a difference in the metagame since OHKO moves and the like are banned, as well as evasion moves.

Sorry, I completely forgot about Compoundeyes, since only four pokemon possess that ability.

It will probably be better than Compundeyes because…well, three of the pokemon with that ability are unevolved and the fourth one is a measly butterfree. I can only imagine Victini having a better movepool than butterfree.
