Is it confirmed that there will be no Gen I to IV in the Isshu dex?

Yep, but I recently realized that AR can easily solve this problem. I never have liked the idea of using mine to hack Pokemon, but I'll get over it. :3

Yes. Bulbapedia did it. go to the main page. Its the most recent news

Now I know...it's weird that Serebi and Pokebeach didn't have it when I checked it...

Azure-Supernova August 4th, 2010 10:41 AM

I'm actually pleased about this. It seems like less of an invasion and we'll get to experience the new Pokémon for what they are (as opposed to mixing them in with previous gens and comparing).

A reboot like this is a great idea.

Mana August 4th, 2010 10:48 AM

Why are people complaining really?

No Pikachu? Boohoo, it's pretty useless to be honest, especially in DP/Pt where the Thunderstone took forever to find or you needed 7 badges.

I think it's a great idea to have a Gen5 only Dex. It makes perfect sense.

And to those who want their normal Pokémon what's stopping you trading them over? You are limited EVERY Generation the same way so I don't really see the problem :S.

Zeturic August 4th, 2010 10:50 AM

I love the idea. It gives the series more of a "fresh" feel.

From what I've seen, this game will have the most interesting Pokemon yet. I've really fallen in love with three, Meguroko, Shimama, and Gear.

Zelda August 4th, 2010 11:03 AM

It's going to be strange at first but now thinking about it, it'll be much easier to complete the Isshu Pokédex.
Plus, we won't have to be sprawling around in caves seeing Zubat, and in the waters with no Magikarp!

This is definitely going to be an interesting and strange thing to see.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire August 4th, 2010 11:04 AM

Well I wish we had at least a few old mons but it's still a pretty good idea :)

rocky505 August 4th, 2010 11:06 AM

BW are going to make me feel like a little kid again :D I enjoyed playing blue with not knowing what I'd find xD

Ryu-kun August 4th, 2010 11:08 AM

Oh yeah... Remember the mandatory trainer in every generation that only had 6 Magikarps?
NO MORE!

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire August 4th, 2010 11:10 AM

I'm expecting a Geodude replacement, and a Magikarp replacement, we already have our abra and Zubat replacements it seems...

X Latios August 4th, 2010 11:11 AM

I'm kind of neutral towards this. On the one hand, 150+ new pokemon is pretty cool as it will encourage me to try something different as I nearly always have 2 or 3 Kanto/Johto pokemon in my team. On the other hand, I'll miss being able to play through with some of the old pokemon, especially Eevee since I always have an Eeveelution in my team (except Sapphire).
Perhaps they'll do what they have done in Diamond, make it so you can trade none regional dex pokemon onto the game but they don't register in the pokedex until after the elite 4?

Either way, going to make for an interesting game!

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire August 4th, 2010 11:13 AM

The thing is that most people will have to get the old mon from a friend who has beaten the game...as the GTS only shows pokemon that you have encountered...

rocky505 August 4th, 2010 11:15 AM

Unless Munna has another evolution I see it more of a new drowzee. I am thinking Gaiasu(Whatever it's name is) is either the rhyhorn or geodude line.

but it's tradition :(... jk those trainers are really annoying!

JAK3 August 4th, 2010 11:17 AM

What can I say...
HOORAH!!

No, but seriously, I'm happy that they are giving us a total Reboot in the series, because I was never around in the good ol' Classic days, such as Red/Blue ( By the way, I know this is what Hiiro said ) So it's nice to know that they are resetting all of these things, i'm really starting to like 5th Gen, mostly because I started on Gold, then moved on, and recently came back, and never got to experience what it was like to have these "Reboots", so now it's almost like a new start, new adventures, all with new everything, it just get's me more pumped for this series.

True, so we will see an Abra replacement later on :)...
I see Gear as a Magnemite replacement more than Geodude...

My Light Ball sweeping Pikachu in Platinum and Heart Gold beg to disagree. Pikachu is a lot better than Raichu, there's no reason to evolve it unless you want slightly better defenses and the ability to hold different items.

What do you think?

i happen to like zubat thank you very much -_-

now tenta-not so-cool can burn for all i care

its fontastic as long as their givin i nice variety of fire, water, grass, electric,& dragon types.

i hope theres a few nice steel,& dark types too :)

but with this it gives me 2 impressions:
1- tsutarja will be the new bulbasaur: grass/poison :disappoin
&2- the dex will only have 152 at first (countin victini&an extra legend)at maximum 252 (countin victini)

I wasn't talking about gear. I was talking about the pokemon that idiots keep calling a nosepass evolution.

Oh yeah sorry i read it wrong :P
Yeah I agree with you, it does seem like the new Golem :)

Timbjerr August 4th, 2010 11:40 AM

I'm not a particularly large fan of being forced to use all-new pokemon and ignore my current favorites until after the E4, but it makes sense within the context of the game. XD

I'd still prefer a Safari Zone full of imported pokemon at least, but whatever. XD

Without it's Item, which was only added to buff him up and is very rare to find on a wild Pikachu it's stats are still rather poor and it won't be able to take a hit.

Compared to other Electric families it is poor.

i completely agree with this, and i used to love pikachu, but now id rather use Pachirisu, damn thing is a TANK!

rocky505 August 4th, 2010 11:55 AM

I'd rather use a flailing Magikarp than a pikachu xD
