OK, so I finished my Flying Challenge on Platinum ages ago. I was trying to get around to updating properly, but I never did and probably won't, so I'll just post my team.

Duffy (Drifblim) @ Spell Tag
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/7/75/Spr_4p_426.png
Lvl. 57
Aftermath
- Shadow Ball
- Air Cutter
- Thunderbolt
- Explosion
Improved an awful lot once he got more powerful attacks like Shadow Ball and Thunderbolt under his belt. An average Pokemon, but one of my favourites.

Scorpula (Gliscor)
@ NeverMeltIce
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/c/cb/Spr_4p_472.png
Lvl. 58
Hyper Cutter
- Night Slash
- Dig
- Ice Fang
- X-Scissor
Scorpula's great, his speed, power and coverage came in great use when I just needed to hit something hard and fast. Ice Fang was a godsend, he single-handedly beat Garchomp.

Scramblore (Togekiss) @ Fist Plate
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/3/34/Spr_4p_468.png
Lvl. 58
Hustle
- Ancientpower
- Flamethrower
- Aura Sphere
- Extremespeed
Definitely one of the best on my team, Aura Sphere was wonderfully overpowered.

Mangosaur (Tropius) @ Aspear Berry
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/6/63/Spr_4p_357.png
Lvl. 57
Clorophyll
- Sunny Day
- Solarbeam
- Fly
- Natural Gift
Mangosaur is awesome, despite by all standards being crap. Because he's Mangosaur. I had a nice little tactic going against Bertha, Sunny Day+Solarbeam with Clorophyll works nicely.

Dracosect (Yanmega) @ Insect Plate
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/0/06/Spr_4p_469.png
Lvl. 58
Speed Boost
- Ancientpower
- Air Slash
- Bug Buzz
- Psychic
MVP, no doubt. It was great to have such a speedy Special attacker.

Cottonwing (Altaria) @ Soft Sand
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/c/c4/Spr_4p_334.png
Lvl. 59
Natural Cure
- Ice Beam
- Dragon Pulse
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
Here was my tactic against Flint: 4xDragon Dance, 5xEarthquake. Cottonwing rocks my socks.

I would like to take challenge.

Forum nickname: Sajmon180
Name: Simon
Game: Emerald
Pokemon Type: Fire
Platform: PC-Emulator, No$Gba.

I would start with Torchic of course, who I'm going to keep. I'm thinking of Ninetales, Solrock and Macgargo/Torkoal. Are there another Fire types anyway?
I'm going to use 2 HM slaves which is Zigzagoon (can I catch Linoone later?) and Wingull (can I catch Pelipper later?) and eventually Spheal for Diving only.

tachikaze316 August 6th, 2010 4:38 AM

After giving Team Rocket a sound thrashing in Celadon city I headed towards Lavender town, cutting through Saffron city and picking up TM29 on the way. Not much to say about Pokemon Tower, Night Shade could hit all of my team, only Raticate could hit the ghosts, I decided to run from most wild pokemon to avoid getting him further ahead in levels. The Rocket grunts at the top of the tower were, as usual, dissappointing.

With Mr. Fuji saved and the pokeflute acquired, it was time to head south to collect my next 2 team members. The first new recruit was found blocking the path near Vermillion City. Several hyper fangs and several resets later, Snorlax was safely inside a pokeball. I continued to Fuchsia City and the Safari Zone, after paying to enter the zone 13 times (No, really) I finally got a Chansey. After some trainer battles, everyone was around level 30-35, time for the gym.

Leader Battle: Koga
Team:
Raticate Lv.35 Water Gun, Tail Whip, Dig, Hyper Fang
Pidgeotto Lv.35 Swift, Sand Attack, Quick Attack, Wing Attack
Chansey Lv.35 Psychic, Bubblebeam, Thunderbolt, Sing
Snorlax Lv.35 Body Slam, Amnesia, Rest, Mega Punch
Persian Lv.35 Body Slam, Bite, Double Team, Screech

Tried to avoid using Chansey and Raticate as much as possible, after all this is meant to be a monotype "challenge", Snorlax managed to take down both Koffings with Body Slam spam, however he fainted after Muk became nigh impossible to hit (frickin' minimize). Enter Pidgeotto, with the help of several super potions Pidgeotto managed to take Muk down with swift. I figured I'd give Persian a bit of screentime vs Weezing, then it exploded...yeah. Well, Pidgeotto got enough experience from Muk to reach Lv.36, evolution time!

Next time! Saffron city.

Sliph Co. seriously relies on child molesters to hand them out?
This would have made me laugh for five minutes straight... if "Silph" wasn't misspelled. XD Seriously, I'm impressed with the general LOLz of your update.
  • Prinplup evolved, FINALLY, and I find myself in possession of a super-special-awesome Empoleon... who finally fits in the Steel thing that the rest of my team has going on. After seven gyms. Woo Empoleon!
  • Set my sights on training the shamefully-underlevelled Skarmory. He even let a level fifteen Mareep attack him! Twice! ; 0; He is the shame of my family and a disgrace of our ho- Oh. Skarmory. I, uh, didn't see you there. How's things goi- Aargh! Don't peck me, dammit! Stop! STOP!!
  • Sees how slow things are going when Rock Tomb hits approximately two percent of the time, and put off Skarmory's training for the time being until we have Pokémon around that might actually get experience points.
  • After dwelling over Metagross and Bastiodon as my last team member, I decided to switch Steelix for Bastiodon and use the last slot for Metagross. YAY.
  • Put off getting Bastiodon until I find Fly in Pearl, and set my sights back on training Beldum and Mr. Amazing Skarmory. No way I'm taking on Team Rocket and its badly-localized admins with this team as it is...
  • Decided that the Rocketeers might provide some decent EXP and entered the hideout of peril.
  • Went undercover, but Rivalman caught me and misunderstood, thinking I was trying to dress like them. After slugging him and explaining (angrily) that I was GOING UNDERCOVER DAMMIT, I dealt with the Rocket Grunt who was buddying up to me and went inside. Sometimes I really hate that dude...

myrrhman August 6th, 2010 6:20 AM

I'm back guys, this time with an update of my own. I just did a 1 hour video for my ground challenge, but its all there. You can hear my friend fail at hacking while I do this if you want, but most of the sounds are my keys and him cussing because he can't figure it out. I really don't know why I even got the Nidoqueen, she just held me back and took some good moves. My friend did figure out what he was doing an hour after this (if you're interested). Also, I think this is when his sister's hot drunk friend came over. I'm starting to upload the videos now.

Quick Question: Does anyone know of a way to make videos longer than 10 minutes uploadable to here? I don't really want to split it all up.

Next OP update will have me adding aaaaaall the userbars.

Right now, we are on our way to Celestic Town to visit Cynthia's Grandmother and complete the stuff there. As for the last two gym battles, Maylene was SO FREAKIN' HARD, MAN! Her Lucario wouldn't faint and kept using Drain Punch on me to restore health and when I finally got him into the red, she used a Hyper Potion on him. <_< Anyway, Crasher Wake was easier, thanks to Prinplup's Grass Knot and some help from Bastidon and Shock Wave. So, I'll update when I get the time on my vacation, which starts tomorrow but if I don't update by next weekend, don't freak out. XD

And since I've started already I'll give a breif report.

Began my Journey on Thursday July 29

Named myself Onion (gonna nickname my pokemon after vegetables)

Named my rival Turnip.

Started with Bulbasaur, beat my rival soundly in our first encounter. Then I traveled to Viridian where I was given Oaks Parcel. I delivered it and was sent on my way with the pokedex.

Next I traveled through Viridiuan forest, a very easy journey for good old Bulbasaur, and I don't need any antidotes. Next I challenged Brock's gym, probably the easiest thing I have ever done. Earned my boulder badge and was on my way.

Next I got the running shoes and beat all the trainers on the adjoining route. Next I traveled back to viridian to meet with my rival at Indigo Plateau. By then I had a lv. 18 Ivysaur, and defeated his team easily.

Next was Mt. Moon. My main problem here was the fact that I was running out of PP quickly. Luckily Ivysaur learned Razor Leaf when he used up his last PP of vine whip, making things a lot easier. I left the cave with the dome fossil and continued on my way to Cerulean.

Here, on my way to Nugget Bridge, I was challenged by my rival. It turned out to be a close encounter, but I prevailed in the end using sleep powder+leech seed on my rival's Charmander. Then I traveled north across the bridge, and was asked to be a member of team rocket.

I guess I said no, although I wasn't given a choice :( and I proceeded to Bill's. On the next route I caught a Bellsprout who I trained against trainers for the rest of the route to bill's.

After saving Bill and adding a few pages to my pokedex (although bill thought I didn't come to see his collection) I headed for the Cerulean gym. Here, Bellsprout prooved his worth by defeating every single pokemon in the gym, save for starmie who confused the poor guy. Yet, Ivysaur prevailed and soundly defeated my opponent.

Next we traveled south for Vermilion city. On my trip south I captured a meowth to serve as an HM slave. I also battled my way through the route just north of Vermilion, having to go back to Cerulean to heal paralysis.

Next I got my bike voucher and procured a bike. I then traveled east of Vermilion to battle the trainers there before I boarded the S.S. Anne. By now Bellsprout was a Weepinbell.

I then boarded the S.S. Anne and Evolved Ivysaur into a Venusaur. My rival, Turnip, proved to be easy as can be, posing no threat to my team of two. I then rubbed the captain's back and got HM01.

I taught the HM to Meowth and then headed for Surge's gym. Safe to say, this gym was fairly easy. The only trouble I had was Paralysis. I then captured enough pokemon to be able to obtain Flash and I am now headed for Rock Tunnel.

tachikaze316 August 7th, 2010 12:14 AM

With the SoulBadge in hand I decided to head back to Saffron City via Celadon. I finally had enough cash to buy a Porygon. I immediately taught it Ice Beam and Tri Attack by TM, before remembering it would've learned Tri Attack levelling up, oops.

Anyways, on to Saffron City, Chansey cleared the fighting dojo alone (Hm, maybe I'm a little overlevelled). Anyway...Silph Co. I avoided most of the grunts and headed straight for Giovanni. (If I'm overlevelled then I don't want to level up more, that'd just remove any remaining epicness...) Oh good, a rival battle, these are always intere-Dammit Chansey. *sigh* Chansey solo'd the rival battle. I decided at this point that the problem wasn't my levels, and that it was Chansey's insane special stat. So I switched Snorlax to the front and taught it Surf. Turns out Chansey's special stat wasn't the problem...Snorlax obliterated Giovanni's team and all was well in the world, I recieved a master ball which would never see use.

Well, with Team Rocket once again foiled it was time for the gym. I don't want to battle anyone unless I ha- what the hell!? The basic trainers here are nearly as tough as Giovanni. Anyway, I made my way to the leader, avoiding most of the trainers...

Leader Battle: Sabrina
Team:
Raticate Lv.37 Water Gun, Tail Whip, Dig, Hyper Fang
Pidgeot Lv.37 Swift, Sand Attack, Double-Edge, Wing Attack
Chansey Lv.37 Psychic, Bubblebeam, Thunderbolt, Sing
Snorlax Lv.37 Body Slam, Surf, Rest, Strength
Persian Lv.37 Body Slam, Bite, Double Team, Screech
Porygon Lv.28 Ice Beam, Tri Attack, Psybeam, Recover

I honestly can't remember much about this fight. All I remember is it was depressingly easy. I'm pretty sure I only used Snorlax and Persian during the match though.

Next time! The final 2 Gyms.
