After aquiring the MarshBadge I headed back to Pallet Town via Diglett's cave (no real reason, probably would've been quicker to get HM02) and then surfed south to Cinnibar Island. I decided to investigate the creepy looking mansion before even thinking about entering the gym. Several super potions and antidotes later, I found a key, huh. Anyway, rather than doing the smart thing and training my team up, I went straight over to the gym.
Leader Battle: Blaine Team: Raticate Lv.38 Water Gun, Tail Whip, Dig, Hyper Fang Pidgeot Lv.37 Swift, Sand Attack, Double-Edge, Wing Attack Chansey Lv.38 Psychic, Bubblebeam, Thunderbolt, Sing Snorlax Lv.38 Body Slam, Surf, Rest, Strength Persian Lv.38 Body Slam, Bite, Double Team, Screech Porygon Lv.29 Ice Beam, Tri Attack, Psybeam, Recover What a dissappointment, heck, half the time he just used super potions, even when his 'mons were still on full health. Anyway, after that I surfed back to Pallet town and headed to Viridian City for badge #8. Leader Battle: Giovanni Team: Porygon Lv.30 Psybeam, Tri Attack, Ice Beam, Recover Persian Lv.39 Bite, Body Slam, Double Team, Screech Pidgeot Lv.38 Swift, Double-edge, Sand-attack, Wing Attack Snorlax Lv.39 Surf, Body Slam, Rest, Amnesia Chansey Lv.39 Thunderbolt, Bubblebeam, Psychic, Minimize RaticateLv.39 Dig, Hyper Fang, Tail Whip, Water Gun Remember what I said about Blaine being dissapointing? Well, Giovanni wasn't much better. Anyways, I finally had all 8 badges and was off to the pokemon league...after handing my rival another beatdown. Victory Road was mildly annoying and was followed by my first actual level grind in this playthrough. I got my team to Lv.40-45 and taught them a couple of moves before taking on the elite four. I'd like to give a play by play of these battles but honestly, they weren't very memorable. Heck the only thing that stands out is that I tried to DoubleTeam/Bodyslam sweep Lorelei's team (Only time I actually used DT or Minimize) only to be defeated by the somehow still able to get a 100% hit rate Cloyster. Anyway, Elite Four got brutalised, Lance was probably the easiest of the lot but there was still the champion fight...I used a save state because I knew he had a good 15-20 levels on me. Type advantages were used and his first 5 mons did pretty much nothing. Unfortunately, I underestimated Venusaur and got swept the first time around. Cue the save state, and a critical Sky Attack from Pidgeot. Pokemon Blue. Monotype Normal challenge...Finished. Final Team: Porygon Lv.45 Psybeam, Tri Attack, Ice Beam, Recover Persian Lv.41 Bite, Body Slam, Double Team, Screech Pidgeot Lv.43 Swift, Double-edge, Sand-attack, Sky Attack Snorlax Lv.46 Surf, Body Slam, Rest, Amnesia Chansey Lv.49 Thunderbolt, Bubblebeam, Psychic, Minimize RaticateLv.46 Dig, Hyper Fang, Tail Whip, Super Fang MVP: Chansey Award for Effort: Persian Next time. Pokemon Crystal. |
I've finished Johto. I'll post my final team later. Also, if I use Emerald, do I have to beat the Frontier Brains?

Name: Sleet
Type: Steel Version: Heart Gold Anyway since i've already started I'll give a quick update: I chose tododile as a starter, just because he's awesome :) Got to Mr Pokemon's house and got the "Mysterious Egg" That's about it for now (Don't worry my later updates wil be bigger but I can't do much just now because im off to the cinema to watch Toy Story 3 ^___^ ) I'll be back later on tonight so i'll update then. Edit: I'm already signed up so Ignore the First 3 lines :P |
Okay, time for an update.
-Took Charmander as starter -Beat Rival in first battle -Got Oak's Package -Delivered Oak's Package and received Pokedex -Arrived at Viridian City -Grinded on Route 22 untill Charmander was Level 10 -Beat rival on Route 22 in the second rival battle -Easily went through the Viridian Forest -Beat Pewter Gym trainer -Did 2 extra wild battles for a Level 16 evolution of Charmander -Took out Brock using Charmeleon's Metal Claw That's it for now, I don't know why but I recorded all 40 minutes of this and I probably will record the rest |
Another Update~~
I made it to Azalea and defeated Team Rocket in the Slowpoke Well. Next, I went to go train my Pokemon in the Azalea Gym before fighting Bugsy so I fought all the trainers. I saved right before Bugsy, and I'm prepared to fight him. This is my Team: Wings (Zubat) Lv. 13 Rosie (Roselia) Lv. 14 Ghoul (Gastly) Lv. 14 Scorpion (Skorupi) Lv. 14 My HM Slaves: Totodile Geodude |
I would enjoy being a part of an ULTIMATE monotype challenge under the banner of the GRASS type. I shall begin and you shall hear from me later on.
|
Oh, well I'm doing a ground type HGSS challenge, so make sure I'm on JP HGSS ground
|
Yay, I was the last winner of the original one :D! Here's my Ghost team:
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/a/a1/Spr_b_g4_429.png Spook/Mismagius Level 63 Nature: Mild Ability: Levitate Moveset: - Shadow Ball - Thunderbolt - Psychic - Aerial Ace http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/8/87/Spr_b_g4_479.png Electron/Rotom Level 61 Nature: Quirky Ability: Levitate Moveset: - Shadow Ball - Discharge - Substitute - Charge Beam http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/4/4e/Spr_b_g4_094.png Boo/Gengar Level 60 Nature: Relaxed Ability: Levitate Moveset: - Shadow Ball - Thunderbolt - Sludge Bomb - Energy Ball This team should be called Team Levitate lol :D I liked DPPt the most in the Ghost UMC, since it was the only time I didn't do a solo run :x. I solo'd with Haunter in FR, solo'd with Gengar in Crystal and solo'd with Sableye in Ruby. |

Okay. Since I'm bored during the [[rest]] of the summer and all my games are free (finished a Random, yay !) I guess I'll give this a go ! (again, after a mass glitch failure...)
Okay, I've decided. I'm going with Fire types on the following : Red (emulated) -- Crystal (emulated) -- Ruby (GBAd) -- Platinum (DSid) I'm curious how this turns out. Oh, I'm doing a bloody script. Stay tuned ! ^_^ |

Ah, that would probably make things easier, thanks. Right now, I'm using a Drifblim (MVP, at level like 45) that knows Minimize, Shadow Ball, Payback, and Fly, and a level like 30 Haunter that I don't even know what it knows because I've been neglecting him. Its like Shadow Punch, Curse, Payback, Spite or something. Still waiting for another DS so that I can trade and get a Gengar. I'm eventually going to get a Froslass and a Dusknoir.

I defeated red after a short(ish) break from the challenge! Charizard and his flamethrower.. Hate reds life.
Pikachu was taken out easily with Boulder. Couple of crunches and an iron tail and it was done. Espeon tried to give me a challenge. I sent out Scythe. Used swords dance and one critical slash and espeon was down. Venusaur was up next. I sent out Jet, and killed it with peck. Then, he sent out my only real weakness in this battle. Charizard. I switched between scythe and boulder, having them revive one another until flamethrower was out. I then used rock throw and took him out in a few shots. Blastoise, i started with Pinecone and used explosion, weakening him. I then sent out Philips and finished him. Snorlax was the final one. I paralyzed him with thunder wave, then revived Pinecone. I sent him out and he exploded. Johto, is done! next up, Hoenn.. Or however you spell it. My Final Team... Boulder/Steelix http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/0/0d/Spr_2c_208.gif Level 60 -Iron Tail -Dragon Breath -Crunch -Rock Throw Steelix was easily the MVP on this team. He was useful throughout the entire game. I was planning on giving him earthquake, but I'm glad i didn't. I probably would've gotten rid of rock throw, and that would've made killing fire types harder. Gonna miss him on gen three.. Scythe/Scizor http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/9/9b/Spr_2c_212.gif Level 58 -Quick Attack -Metal Claw -Slash -Swords Dance The second best on this team. In the begging, i was about to ditch him. I'm so glad that i didn't. It wasn't completely smart of me to not put any fighting moves on him, but it worked out in the end. Not sure if he pops up in the next one. But if he does, he'll be on my team for sure... Jet/Skarmory http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/6/64/Spr_2c_227.gif Level 56 -Peck -Steel Wing -Swift -Fly I didn't think that he would stick in my team, or be useful at all. But in the E4 fights, he helped a lot. And i needed to fight them a few times so i could afford more revives, which helped me with red extremely. Hope i can see him again... Philips/Magneton http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/b/b1/Spr_2c_082.gif Level 58 -Tri Attack -Thunder Shock -Thunder Wave -Zap Cannon He.. Well, it helped throughout the entire game. Especially during the E4, like most of my pokes. Looking forward to the 4th Gen so i can use his evolution... Pinecon/Forretress http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/7/7e/Spr_2c_205.gif Level 55 -Spike -Rapid Spin -Explosion -Take Down He was actually the worst on my team. I could barely kill anything with him. He was most useful in the red fight, where he exploded and killed snorlax and crippled blastoise. If he's in the next few games, i might get him for his explosiveness... After doing some research, i decided that i will play ruby, for mawile. Steel types are scarce in all the games, so i need all the help i can find. I will post an update when.. when i feel like it i guess.. |

Right then, because I don't have to go many places to check my updates, I can focus more on doing my monotypes! So, I will continue my RBY Normal Monotype (Alakazam, you can add me to the ultimate for all the types. If you trust me, I'm on Johto for Grass, Poison, Ground, Psychic, and Rock. I'm on Kanto still for all the others (except Dark and Steel obviously). Going to finish up Normal Kanto right now (its basically a Clefable solo run, although I have a Wigglytuff I've been training).
Hem hem... Made it to Celadon. Taught Clefable Ice Beam. Went to Saffron so Clefable could learn Psychic. Got Fly for Farfetch'd the Cut/Fly slave Took down the Pokemon Tower Took out Erika's gym in one round, but had to go back and heal for Erika (was out of Ice Beam/Psychic) Erika fainted in 3 Ice Beams. Because I'm awesome and know what's up, I got only the Hyper Potion, Full Heal, Max Revive, Protein, Card Key, Calcium, Carbos, and Rare Candy in Silph. Also beat Rival, got Lapras, and beat Giovanni. One hit the Fighting Dojo Used the Master ball on Snorlax Beat Koga O_o caught a Chansey. Got Surf and Strength, which I taught to Snorlax. Beat Blaine after getting the Secret Key. Went back and Beat Sabrina Then Giovanni Then Rival Got through Victory Road. Loreli didn't like Thunderbolt Bruno didn't like Bubblebeam/Psychic Agatha didn't like Thunderbolt/Psychic Lance didn't like Ice Beam (although Aerodactyl did kill Clefable and I had to use a Max Revive) Rival was really tough, and Alakazam almost ran me out of attacks with Recover, but I beat him... finally. Screenshots coming up. http://i1029.photobucket.com/albums/y357/mexierreman/th_screenshots.png?t=1281216789 Oh boy we're not clear. Hopefully you can read it all. |

Moon -Caught the second member of my team Shrooms(Paras) -After a couple hours of training, running, fighting, frustration, and reliving the horror that is Zubat i have gotten through Mt. Moon and have arrived in Cerulean -Going toward Nugget bridge i had a fateful encounter with Flare and won handily -Attempted the Nugget bridge and won with a couple trips to the PokeCenter to keep Shrooms alive -Finished the bridge and received Team Rocket invitation which i quickly and forcefully declined -On route 5 added the next member to my team Oddish (Oddish) [oops, quickly find the name rater] -Got to and helped Bill, who was convinced i didn't want to see his rare pokemon, but instead gave me the S.S. ticket -Flattened Misty with the only pokemon seeing battle being Oddish who spammed the absorb -Showed Team rocket what's what and received Dig with a quick heal i was on my way toward vermilion -Flew through the underground path and destroyed some trainers, and was ultimately sent all the way back up to Cerulean -More fights and a couple heals later, arrived in Vermilion -First stop in Vermilion would be the S.S. ANNE -Cleared the S.S. ANNE allowing Shrooms and Oddish to evolve then ran into Flare and failed quite hard -After failing for about five more times i beat Flare with a Poison Powder and an Absorb/Scratch combo MVP goes to Gloom for poisoning Charmelion -Met the captain and gave him a back massage, in his gratitude he gave me HM01 for cutting Quest for when the sun shines new: Lt. Surge Current Team: Spoiler:

Anyway... Toy Story 3 went on longer than I expected so I'll have to update some time tomorrow with my first proper update ;) EDIT: What's the rules for Egg trading? How many steel type eggs am I allowed to trade over, Steel types are pretty hard to catch so I'd rather trade a couple over at the start. Another Edit :P : Just looked at the start of the thread, I'm assuming EJ's HG/SS monotype challenge rules still apply so I'll trade over some eggs tomorrow when I properly start my challenge. |
