I voted for Dento, Poddo, and Kon cus... well my theme says it! ;)

otakulily October 4th, 2010 2:48 PM

Woah. 4 votes for Hachiku? Since when was he popular?

King Gumball October 4th, 2010 3:07 PM

No body like Yakon. How sad... I thought he would be more popular.

Boarbeque October 6th, 2010 3:51 AM

How could you not love the Cowboy Business Man with the Green Crotch?

raidercm October 6th, 2010 12:17 PM

I'm sorry, I don't know if this is the right place to post, but can someone tell me if there are gym leader rematches in this game?

King Gumball October 6th, 2010 3:52 PM

raidercm:-- Nah unfortunately there aren't any gym rematches this time around.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire October 6th, 2010 4:34 PM

Iris is the most famous still, maybe it's because she is also an anime character...but so is Dento and the others will eventually appear too...

Zelda October 7th, 2010 3:24 AM

I'm going to assume Dento, Poddo, and Koon are popular because it's the first time we've had three gym leaders in one gym. Although it didn't turn out to be a triple battle between them, I like the idea of having to battle one depending on the starter you choose.

As for me, I haven't decided which one I favorite the most yet. Since I won't be importing the Japanese versions, after the English version is released I'll wait to make a decision after I've battle them all. Things I'll be looking for is their little role before the battle, how much of a challenge they put up and the character design overall.

Snow Phoenix October 7th, 2010 3:54 AM

Hachiku vote as well. I love his design and his Pokemon type. I just hope the translation doesn't ruin his name or something ;.;

The Electric gym leader is my next favorite though because her design is also awesome o.o And she has that ever so adoreable Emonga.

PlatinumDude October 7th, 2010 4:12 AM

Here's something that crossed my mind about Shaga and Iris. Both of them have the same Pokemon, so instead of Shaga having Onondo and Ononokusu, he could have Jiheddo and Sazandora (yes, I know that both will be underlevelled, but at least there's some variety).

S h o n October 7th, 2010 4:34 AM

I like Dento, Poddo and Koon.I finished this game last week,it's fantastic :D

What?! I had such high hopes for the rest of the gym leaders.. :( I thought wow if this is the 2nd gym leader I can't wait to fight the later gym leaders! If she was the toughest nut to crack, then the rest of the game is going to be v. boring indeed.

I just beaten Arty. His toughest Pokemon was surprisingly Hoyga (Bug/Poison). But I had a Mogryuu with Dig so that didn't pose much of a problem for long. Hahakomori was super weak as long as you had a flying or fire type. Ishzumai hit quite hard but went down easily with water type attacks thrown at it.

I'm kind of disappointed they put in another bug gym leader. We have too many bug gyms already!

I'm hoping in future you get to double battle or triple battle the gym leaders and their assistants.

As far as I know, the only other bug type gym leader we have is Bugsy.

Another game has gone where you can't be a Gym leader....:(

Too bad I'm getting Black though.....

Yeah that bug dude is only the second bug gym, so I am happy that there is another bug gym leader. Though he reminds me of a jester.

Anyway, I love the triplets. Personally, I think the idea of 3 Gym Leaders is awesome plus the whole cafe' thing with the gym is pretty nice

PaxAmericana November 1st, 2010 2:34 PM

I voted the trio, because they rule!

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire November 1st, 2010 3:02 PM

I saw the gym leaders teams and they seem like of empty in diversity to me...

Member November 3rd, 2010 7:43 AM

They are decently strong as you progress. I like how in each version, the 8th leader and town are different.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire November 3rd, 2010 2:41 PM

Both eighth gym leaders sound like they will be cool :)
Also does the 8th gym leader in Black have different pokemon from Iris?

Yes, they both have the same team.

I voted for Shaga because I love his beard, and the fact that he is a Spartan Mayor.. so manly

and hot

Brave Jonah November 3rd, 2010 3:07 PM

Kamitsure for sure. She's...well, she's...*drools* :12:

Ah I see, I like better Iris she is quite cute :)

Drake(Elite Four) November 3rd, 2010 4:34 PM

I think Shaga is pretty cool.

mervyn797 November 7th, 2010 7:37 AM

Gym battles aren't tough enough to impress me.. unfortunately. The first gym battle was pretty fun though, Boappu was a rather tough opponent. Bah, I don't even remember the gym leader's name. x_x

xMiZx November 7th, 2010 8:36 AM

My vote went to Kamitsure - Electric Gym leader and her gym is rather epic.

Gymnotide November 7th, 2010 11:41 AM

Kamitsure was very annoying to fight underleveled. She wasn't hard or anything, but Volt Change is really annoying if it's all she uses.

Myaora November 7th, 2010 12:20 PM

The first gym was the only Gym that actuallly posed a threat, then again I simply adore Kamitsure!

vava18 November 8th, 2010 9:23 AM

Thy Gym of Electric was very hard to pass, i lose about 6 times, that amongo was a pain in the ass

Emonga. Anyway.

I found the first and second gyms the hardest \: Third/fourth/fifth the easiest.

sixth/seventh/eighth were all mediocre. I would of loved more of a challenge.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire November 10th, 2010 5:23 PM

By the sound of it Isshu was easy compared to Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and even Sinnoh...I miss the Hoenn gym leaders just by hearing how weak Isshu's are...

Zelda November 19th, 2010 5:25 PM

I don't know, there are a couple of people that had a difficult time with a few of the Gym Leaders. I guess it all depends on what level range you've reached to them though. I hope they do put on some kind of challenge for me however, and I'm pretty sure since B/W has been leaning towards levels being high for various points in the game (like the Elite Four levels, Victory Road's, and even how long it takes for one Pokémon to evolve in levels) I'll have a chance to get the challenge I'm expecting. n_n;

As for looking through the designs of each Gym Leader, I would say I like Kamitsure the most and by far, my favorite Gym Leader for this generation. I love electric type Pokémon, and her design fit overall is quite outstanding. Her outfit fits the electric typing but as for the challenge she puts up I'm not quite sure. Of course she's only the fourth Gym Leader so she won't be too difficult to defeat and so there's not really much I can say to that. XD;

PlatinumDude November 19th, 2010 5:34 PM

By watching the gym battle videos on YouTube, I figured out part of Kamitsure's battling style. Her Emonga spam Volt Change, swapping out one Emonga out for the other (if one Emonga uses Volt Change, Kamitsure switches in the other one). While this is annoying for most people, it can be countered; I also came up with a strategy to counter it. By having Dangoro/Gantoru/Gigaiath/Ishizumai/Iwaparesu set up Stealth Rock, the Emonga will lose 25% HP with each switch in.

Edit: a simpler solution would be to put a Ground Pokemon up front, and pray it doesn't die to Emonga's other attacks.

You know she is the only one who hasn't had a Military related clothing out of the 4 electric gym leaders, ironically she is also the only female electric gym leader...

chaos11011 November 20th, 2010 5:39 AM

Kamitsure is my favorite by far.Heck, even my Zeburaika will be named after her.In my previous Nuzlocke Run I was saw her.All I could say was "Stunning" I was speechless. She is my favorite gym leader in Pokémon. Before I hated Electric Gym Leaders, they wern't just appealing to me.Kamitsure is a fresh new groove for the Electric Gym leaders.

~*!*~Tatsujin Gosuto~*!*~ November 20th, 2010 11:55 AM

I find it amazing that they made an Ice cream Pokemon and now a gym leader has it. my favorite gym leader would have to be Hodomoe city gym because it has two cool looking Pokemon (I'm starting to become a sucker for Doryuuzu now) and Waruvile

One that has a sense of fashion too. And is she listening to and iPod or something? Really goes with the technology theme in Black.

dragon0fangz November 23rd, 2010 12:41 PM

I voted Arti.

He's awesome.

1. Bug types
2. Artist
3. Hiun City

but i am disappointed by how easy he is. Adeku makes up for being a bug type champion. (3 of 6 pokemon, dont argue)

Also, with Kamitsure, her name could be Electra. (from electricity...)

Those are really good names I hope that Fuuro is Ava in the English versions now :)

I started new game and got owned by D.P.K, I'm still stuck on them, Mijumaru is gross in battle >:

Serene Grace December 3rd, 2010 4:24 AM

Researching into the first Gym, I've come to the conclusion that GameFreak are trying to make us smarter trainers by making the final Pokemon at a type advantage to the ones we choose. I mean, normally this is done with the rival trainer, but when the Gym leader also has a Pokemon stronger than you, it starts to make you think a little more before using moves (as Gym leaders tend to have a specific strategy or at least healing items to make the battle more challenging); transforming the people who have the traditional mindset of 'Press A a few hundred times and win' to people who take type advantage and the likes into account.

Guys.. Pokemon is getting modern! :D

Count December 3rd, 2010 8:33 AM

The gyms aren't too challenging. Except for gym 1 and 2, I had no troubles beating any.

Yeah but they failed unfortunately :| Before you fight you get given the Monkey that has a type advantage to theirs, so unless you want the challenge people generally tend to use the monkeys :o

Kamitsure. She's sexy, awesome, and is the hardest of the Isshu gym leaders. I miss the Hoenn leaders..they had talent and were hard to beat

So many things wrong with this sentence. ;~;

Kamitsure is just Pixels, get over it :|
She's not the hardest Gym Leader considering she's only the 4th Leader and her top Leveled Pokemon is 27/28.

Hoenn leaders are even easier. Sinnoh leaders are the hardest.

HallwayKid December 3rd, 2010 9:10 AM

Dento/Poddo/Koon and Aloe were the only leaders where I had to grind before facing them. The rest were so easy. I train 5 Pokemon at once and was still out-leveling them. The only time I had to grind after Aloe, was for Victory Road.

This. D/P/K/A Are only hard because there aren't many types of Pokemon around those areas that can take them down, although if there was, the levels of wild Pokemon is just ._.

Horrible.

da_absol December 3rd, 2010 9:18 AM

..no gym leader is hard for me because i overtrain. Sinnoh was a piece of cake in my opinion. Isshu was quite easy, but she had the best strategy.

Well thats all good.

Her strategy was to just keep using an attack so she could switch out. .___. Whats so amazing about that? She needed speed and Snivy + Co. could knock her out.

Exactly! By giving you the Monkey that has the type advantage over their Pokemon, they're forcing you to think and not make random, sporadic decisions.

Wouldn't it be fairer if you were given the weaker monkey and forced to overcome their strategies with the "underdog" in a sense?

The Red Chain December 3rd, 2010 9:48 AM

Iris has become my favorite gym leader. <3

Like dragonomega said, it would be a bit weird as they already have a weaker type in their starter. However, I think it would be better if they get a neutral type with maybe a move that has an advantage over the Gym leader's last Pokemon. So the typing would be fairer but with some way to be able to think and defeat them.

Yes, she is pixels, but you don't have to tell people to "get over it" for liking a character.
Let them be, sheesh. XD

Anywho~ I think Kamitsure or Fuuro are second favorite to me. Not sure which yet, they're both pretty cool.
Kamitsure is pretty cool because of her design and stoic expression. I like how they used the poker faced look of a model and an android as an inspiration for her.
Electric is my second favorite type as well, so it only makes me like her more~

Fuuro is very free-spirited, and charming to say the least, and I really enjoy personalities like that.
Her gym is hilarious as well! When else in a Pokemon game do you get shot out of a cannon and face plant into the wall right before the gym leader?
I couldn't stop laughing at that. XDD

Fuurou have on of the best designs, besides Kamitsure and the ice type gym leadre (forgot his name now). I just find awful there's not a dark gym YET.. What the purpose of dark types, if they haven't a grm, after all?

Nakuzami December 3rd, 2010 1:20 PM

My favorite is Kamitsure. She and Fuuro are some hot pixels XD
But, I think Kon comes in second for me...not quite sure, the only gym leader I dislike is Poddo.

Her hair is over the top in the anime. I miss Dawns nice neat hair. All the girls have had crazy hair except Dawn. But Iris looks nice in game. Her hair doesn't stand out as much.

No love for Yakon, the fifth Gym Leader? I'm not stepping into 'fanboy/girl' territory of anything (or am I?), but personally, I like him. He's got a badass, doesn't take crap from anyone atmosphere abou him. Plus...he's a Wild West cowboy or at least some representation of one. It's about time we have one of those in the games!

Yakon is a little weird to me.
Plus, we all know there's gonna be an RSE remake next *rolls eyes*

I actually like Yakon's design a lot. His cowboy/western style really is unique and I would have never expected such a Gym Leader for the Pokémon games as I've never really thought about it before. He seems like a "professional cowboy" with the suitcase and all as well. :P
