I would have thought Aloe was the grass gym because of what her name means. I now think Dento will be grass because of the monkey so I guess it is a possibility that Aloe could be a rock type gym. She looks like a hardy woman.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire August 24th, 2010 2:13 PM

Well the second gym being rock would be a nice change if it does happen :)

Zelda August 24th, 2010 2:37 PM

I would like a change in Rock always being the first gym type. Mix-up is good and the same isn't always, I wonder if the creators think about that. D;
Suppose if the games came out with new types, I'm sure some of the gyms will have the new types. If not, I'd like to see a rearrange and possibly rock not being there at all.
Mainly if Black and White is going to keep up an original title, there should be new changes. :)

Ho-Oh August 24th, 2010 4:50 PM

Aloe could be electric, with Dento being grass, which would ruin rock's chance for 1st and 2nd. We might not even get rock at all! Though... we'd probably get that combined into a ground/steel gym to cover a part of rock.

I apologize if my idea seems a bit...unorthodox. I have just woken up and now I'm having trouble explaining my views and ideas. :(

I understand what you mean, we do need to see the less seen ones, though I think we should skip steel as we got one last gen...but that didn't stop GF from having water type gym for the last two gens in a row...

PaxAmericana August 25th, 2010 5:24 PM

if we had a rock type gym first, i would slap myself repeatedly till my face bled

Well I don't think that we will have rock as our first gym again :)

Sammuthegreat August 26th, 2010 3:37 AM

I don't know if this has been posted already but it's been revealed on www.serebii.net that Dento has Yanappu, the little broccoli monkey Pokemon. So the first Gym must be Grass-type. Hooray! Finally a Gym where my fire starter will kick ass.

Ho-Oh August 26th, 2010 3:54 AM

:D Well, this is enough confirmation for me. So grass... hmm. Oh, and let's note that his city is surrounded by a forest (well I see a lot of trees behind his gym so yeah), this is good. Very good.

I wonder what Aloe will be now.

Exactly the same what i thought!

and i think Aloe will be fire, because she's a cook and what do cooks need to make their food? FIRE.

MistahDude August 26th, 2010 4:36 AM

Im not entirely convinced that the first gym will be grass. It could still be a combination of Grass, Fire and Water types. His gym hints a lot to it.

This pretty much confirms Dento is either a Grass gym leader or a mixed Gym leader.
This may also confirm that Yanappu did the Solarbeam in one of the earlier trailers, but we didn't see the Pokemon itself, so who knows.

Edit ; Ugh Solarbeam on the first gym leader. ;-; Not looking forward to it.. if it's in-game anyway.

Red Mustang August 26th, 2010 8:38 AM

I think the seventh or eighth gym leader will be dark type(:

That's way overdue.

Remember, he has solar beam in the anime. Not confirmed if the game dento has solar beam. But I'm kinda glad Dento has Ynappu, now aloe can't cook it.

Hence why I said "if it's in-game anyway"? -.-;

So Dento is joining Iris and Ash on their Journey huh? A new Gym Leader follows them along, bout time. Dento seems pretty hyperactive haha, I have a feeling this'll be hilarious. Like one of those over-flamboyant anime dudes. <3

Regarding in-game Dento, I will cry if he has Solarbeam. ;~;

Totaldile August 26th, 2010 11:22 AM

I'm sticking with my intuition. Normal for Aloe :).
(it got it right the first time :3)

Planetes. August 26th, 2010 11:24 AM

There was a new commercial for Best Wishes that gives serious evidence that Dento is grass type http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/CKmaster/Dento.png?t=1282850653 and that Iris will torture poor Pokabu

rocky505 August 26th, 2010 11:35 AM

He must be a water type look at all the bubblez :P

I will have major problems in the games with him :(

There is absolutely no chance the first Gym Leader will have a Pokemon with Solarbeam. I can 100% tell you now that he won't have that move. The first Gym Leader will have Pokemon of levels between 10 and 15, and no Pokemon will learn Solarbeam at that low a level. Plus, Gym Leaders have never had Egg moves on their Pokemon before.

Yes there have been leaders with egg moves before. Both Brock's Graveler and Onix from GSC had rock slide which were egg moves for them. Misty's Golduck from GSC had Psychic which was only a egg move for it at the time.

Wait... wasn't psychic a TM?

Anyways, what if gym leaders didn't follow Pokemon types, but visual characteristics? Like Dento has all "Monkey" Pokemon? Lol, I know it's weird. Maybe it would be fun if only one leader followed a pattern like this? XD

rocky505 August 26th, 2010 12:40 PM

Golduck could not learn psychic by TM until Gen 4.

incognito322 August 26th, 2010 12:48 PM

I have a feeling Gen V Gym Leaders will be even more deceptive than last time (Generation 4). Gym challenges became tougher as Gym Trainers and Leaders alike began to use moves that correspond to the Gym Type instead of Pokemon Types. (prime example was the female Ace Trainer of Canalave Gym who had an Azumarill that knew Iron Tail.)

I wouldn't be surprised if Dento has a Grass, Fire, and Water-type, at this point in the games.

WildBolt August 26th, 2010 1:33 PM

Was it confirmed that he has a Yanappu? If so I think he'll specialize in Grass-Types.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire August 26th, 2010 3:17 PM

So the first one is grass...it would be a bit hard to win with Tsutarja...
