The Nuzlocke Challenge

The Official Nuzlocke Challenge
The Nuzlocke challenge is one of the funnest, emotional, and most rewarding ways to play a Pokemon game.

Here are the all-important RULES:

1. If a Pokemon Faints, its dead, release it.
2. No Healing Outside of battle (optional)
3. You can only catch/recieve one Pokemon in each Area. A town is one area, a route is one area, a cave is one area, etc. If you fail to catch a Pokemon for any reason (other than game corruption) than too bad.
4. You must nickname all of your Pokemon (optional, but highly reccomended)
5. No catching legendaries. (Its funner if you act like Nuzlocke and kill all the legendaries).
6. Trading sort of ruins the purpose. Egg trading is okay, same thing with Pokemon that can't have eggs. (optional)
7. Change the battle style to SET. (optional)
8. Make Comics whenever something amazing happens. (optional, but still reccomended :I)
Have Fun and take on the Nuzlocke Challenge!

RULES 1, 3, AND 7 ARE THE ONLY TOTALLY REQUIRED ONES, THE OTHERS ARE JUST TO ADD MORE FUN/DIFFICULTY TO THE CHALLENGE.

Hi, I've been doing a Sapphire Nuzlocke run. In case anyone is interested in reading about my progress I've set up a blog here.

I'm about to get to Lilycove so I won't re-post my journey so far, but I'll carry on posting my progress from this points on.

Kanto_Johto August 13th, 2010 4:24 AM

Okay, seriously. What is the point in this, exactly? We already have loads of Nuzlocke threads for the individual games. What can honestly be accomplished from combining all of them into one thread?

There are some things on this forum that don't need changing/altering, and this is one of them.

Cleaner forum & less searching.
What can honestly be accomplished from having a bunch of the same challenge for every region when you can just put them all in one thread?

myrrhman August 13th, 2010 5:40 AM

What Kanye said. It is the reason we combined the Monotype and Solo challenges; so that we can make the forum a little easier to navigate. It brings the list of challenges from 3 pages to 1 and a half. And we can probably change some of the others over (like alpha fan, gym leaders/elite four, which can be one thread for both types, colors, combine anime and manga) and I bet we can get it down to one page. I know, that might be a bit excessive, and it is unfortunate that some of the people that run the challenges basically got booted out of their challenges, but its for the good of the community.

Indeed. It works out quite nicely for me too seeing as I was the only person posting in the old R/S/E Nuzlocke thread and the guy running the thread didn't update it either; at least this way I know someone might actually read my posts and I'm not just keeping a dead thread alive.

Also, AceDragonite, thanks for adding me to the list of challengers, but could you remove the r from my name? It's Sammuthegreat, not Sammurthegreat.

Thanks!

TrilbyMenetti August 13th, 2010 8:53 AM

I've been meaning to do this for a while and I want to do it for FireRed, so put me down for that. :)

Edit: Not sure when I'll start it though. I'm not sure I'll be able to play it alongside my Random Pokemon Challenge game and Platinum game (first time). So it might be a while, plus I want to try and record this for my YouTube channel.

Leafbarrett August 13th, 2010 9:58 AM

I didn't think that "no healing outside of battle" was an official rule... >.> I thought the only official rules were:
1) 1 pokemon per route/area/etc.
2) If a pokemon faints, then it's dead

Also, what about romhacks? Do they count as an acceptible challenge? I'm playing Moemon Leaf Green with my starter edited to be a Ralts (which makes life so much harder x_x).

I know way back when, when I did the Yellow Version Nuzzy, someone did Brown Version. So yeah, I'm pretty sure ROM Hacks are cool.

Also, http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/3483/1269893749258.png is the official rules, if i'm not mistaken. And Ace, when you get time, go ahead and sign me up for I guess silver. I'll get around to it eventually, right now I'm finishing up three challenges (in the elite four in all of them) on ruby, I'm 3 Badges away from completing my second ultimate monotype, and i'm signed up for the Favorite, Starter, and "New Kind of Challenge". And I don't like being under 5 challenges at once, so when i finish off the ruby ones, I'll be starting this.

Less searching? Oh come on. This forum has about, what, 3 pages?

Nevermind, anyway. I'm currently in the middle of the Pearl Nuzlocke, so put me down for that, please.

In that case, sign me up for Leaf Green (since all other conditions are the same... well, Gary gets a Larvitar).

Should be updating today now, but anyways, don't forget to sign me up on Pearl!

Leafbarrett August 13th, 2010 2:31 PM

...Well, this is a major problem. The game won't let any non-Kantodex pokemon evolve without the National dex, and I can't get it to activate, even using cheats. That means I'm permanently stuck with an unevolvable starter!

PalkiaSpace August 13th, 2010 3:57 PM

I've done many mono-type and mono-species... (not on Pokecommunity, out of boredome before I signed up) but I've never done a Nuzelocke. (Although I've read all the comics :3) I finally have an open game so I accept the challenge!

Sign me up for HG plz. :D

I'll update as often as I can... I'll also put my current status in my sig anyway. I.E., team, location, ect.

EDIT: Oh wait, HM slaves are allowed correct?

MareBear August 13th, 2010 4:42 PM

I'm going to sign up with FireRed for this, please! I'm currently working on my monotype challenge in Pearl and this is going to be done on my computer, but I'll update with this one when I can. I'll put some stats about my run in my sig when I get something going. Thanks guys! XD

Niprop August 13th, 2010 10:41 PM

And now, ladies and gentlemen, for the next update!

Nuzrick stared intently on the TV screen as he waited for the nurse to heal his team.

"Hey, all you TRAINERS out there! HELLO, TRAINERS!"

"......... ......... ........."

"Come on, let me hear you! HELLO TRAINERS!"

"It's me, the POKé DUDE!"

"Today, the POKé DUDE's going to show you how to catch POKéMON!"

"Just imagine... A groovy POKéMON suddenly appearing in the wild!"

"Oh, you want it! You just can't help it!"

"You gotta have it!"

"Let me show you how you can make it happen!"

"All righty, here goes!"

"Keep your eyes glued to the super POKé DUDE SHOW!"

The POKé DUDE walked around in a large patch of grass, until he bumped into a wild Pokémon.

"Woah? What's this? Well, that's not something you see every day!"

A wild RHYDON appeared!

The POKe DUDE sent out an Oddish. The small plant Pokémon cowered in terror before the massive beast before it. The Rhydon simply stepped on the poor creature, and it was history.

The POKé DUDE sent out a Rattata.

"Well girls and boys, it looks like I've met up with a POKéMON much higher level then my own team! Not to fear though, the POKéMON RATTATA has the ability RUN AWAY, so it can get away from any wild POKéMON no problem!"

Can't escape!

"Of course, it looks like my RATTATA has GUTS..."

RATTATA fainted!

"Well girls and boys, looks like I'm out of POKéMON, so I just got a white ou-"

The Rhydon charged at the POKé DUDE and rammed him in the chest, blasting him off.

The End

The show had ended just in time too, as the nurse came over and handed him five Pokéballs. Nuzrick had caught a fifth member in a Budew earlier in the grass, pondered for a while on what to call it, and then finally came to the conclusion that he should name it Budsworth. He kept it in a plain red Pokeball, like the rest.

As he went out the Pokemon Center door, he embraced the area around him. Floaroma Town was different from most of the other areas have been. It was not befouled by the bloodshed of Pokémon yet. Vibrant flowers littered the ground around him, rather then the garbage, stagnant water, and water-type Pokémon carcasses that he was used to in the cities he normally visited. Nuzrick wandered around a bit until he came upon the seemingly largest building in the city. A girl walked by him and started to chatter.

"The Berries you pick can be used as food for Pok
émon. You can also exchange them at the florist's for Accessories to dress up your Pokemon."

An Oran Tree was growing next to the flower shop. After picking off a single fruit, the tree disintegrated into loamy soil. Nuzrick was about to go off when he quickly remembered something. Nuzrick pulled out the bad full of sparkling red dust from his pack, he carefully reached inside of it to pull out a single berry. this berry, roughly as large as an apple, had a mysterious quality to it, and it looked like nothing Nuzrick had ever seen before. He gingerly planted the fruit into the soil, carefully covering it up, and then left it. He figured he should be going to the Eterna City for the next gym, so he left for Route 205. As he was steadily walking along, a little girl ran towards him, an alarmed expression on her face.

"Please mister, you gotta help! These weird people in space suits took my daddy and locked him away in his Windworks!"

...I suppose I can help this little girl. Probably just her imagination or somethi-

Sure enough, there were in fact, two weird space men blocking the way through the bridge across the river!

"We, Team Galactic, are conducting research in the Eterna Forest! This is as far as you will go!"

Nuzrick attempted to reach for his Pok
éballs, but a strange force told him to stop.

"I'll deal with these freaks later, right now, I've got to save that little girl's father!"

Nuzrick approached the Valley Windworks, but a third guard was blocking the entrance."

"Hey you, you're not allowed here punk!"

The team Galactic Member sent out a Skitty-like Pok
émon.

"Hmpth. fair enough. Tyro, time to play rough."

Nuzrick sent out Twig Tyro!

Twig Tyro used Razor Leaf!

After three our four waves, the strange Pok
émon fainted.

"Yeah, like I can win anything with this weak Pok
émon! Heh, you probably think that because you defeated me, I'll hand you over the key and let you through! Heh, fat chance for that, I'll just lock myself in! By the way, the second key is possessed by the grunts near that dumb flower town's meadow, so if you still want to get in, go to them and get clobbered! Heh, I don't feel like a loser any more!"

That's one stupid grunt... Nuzrick thought to himself.

And so, after going through the meadow, Nuzrick found, confronted, and utterly creamed the two Grunts, saved an Old Man who bought him Honey, use it to attract a Wurmple, named him Bunt and went off, when he heard a slight chirping come from his pack.

Rockstar had somehow opened up it's Pok
éball and was staring at him intently.

"Lee! Starly!"

"Eh, what's that? You want to contribute to team team?"

Later at Route 204:

*Dudududun!*

*Dudududun!*

*Dudududun!*

Rockstar was, despite her small stature, smashing through wave after wave of Shinx, Bidoof, Budew, and anything else that got in her way.

"Starly!"

"Keep at it Rockstar, and you'll be strong in no time!"

Nuzrick was proud at the amount of effort she was putting off. It reminded him a bit of another Pok
émon he once had...

*Dudududun!*

What? Rockstar is evolving!

Wheeew! Wheeew!

Casualties:

N/A

Areas cleared of Pokémon:

Lake Verity (*Got* Turtwig)
Route 201 (Could Not Capture Bidoof)
Route 202 (Caught Infinifang)
Route 203 (Caught Rockstar)

Mt. Coronet (Caught Football)

Route 204 (Caught Budsworth)
Floaroma Meadow (Caught Bunt)
Jubilife City (Recived Jirachi)

Yes they are. You can add any rules you like though, so if you want to disallow HM slaves, feel free. The only thing is though, if you want an HM slave you've got to hope it'll be the first Pokemon to show up in any area, otherwise you can't catch another.

Lord_Storm August 14th, 2010 5:52 AM

Well I’m starting a nuzlocke challenge on my Pokémon emerald and the player is called Chez (my real name).

Rules:
Spoiler:
-If a Pokémon faints, I must release it.
-I can only catch the first Pokémon I see in an area.
-Nickname all Pokémon.
-Cannot trade.
-Battle style is switched to set.

Day 1
Spoiler:
I started off doing all the boring stuff and I finally headed out onto Route 101 to receive my first Pokémon from Professor Birch and got Blaze the male Torchic and headed out to start my journey…to find May. I didn’t care if I got into a battle on Route 101 as Blaze was met there so I rushed into grinding to level 7. After grinding, I headed onto Route 103 hoping to get through without a battle but was attacked in the last patch. Damnit.

I ripped May’s Mudkip to pieces with a critical Scratch and proceeded to level up to level 8 and headed to see the professor. On Route 102, I found a female Lotad and named it Lily. Grinding time. After Lily was level 8 and could finally handle herself, I set off to fight through Route 102. By the time I had reached Petalburg City, Lily had become stronger than Blaze and was officially my beast. I then decided to be nice and help a poor little boy catch a Ralts and for some reason, I believe this will come back to haunt me in the near future. I then met Scott and then headed onto Route 104 and caught a female Marill called Mega and went into Petalburg Forest to nab a female Poochyena (what is it with girls?) named Weepy. I just realised that I named Mega ‘Mege’ accidentally and will change it when I get to Slateport City.

After grinding, I realised that Mega has issues with criticals, having hit 7 criticals in the last 10 battles, while Weepy only hit 1 in 5 battles. I grabbed the Bullet Seed TM but then realised it was useless as I could only use it on Lily, who already has Absorb. Mega died on the way to Rustboro against Rich Boy Winston from a critical, and after trying so hard to grind a Pokémon who could barely take a quarter of a level 3 Pokémon’s health, I’m pretty mad. I entered Route 116 to grab a Pokémon to help me tackle Roxanne when I found an Abra. RAGE! I failed to catch it but will get a Whismur from Rusturf Tunnel. I got the Whismur and it was male and I have named it Whistle as a reference to it using sound to fight. I have decided that I am only allowed to buy pokeballs at pokemarts and no potions or status healers. I am going to tackle Roxanne now and hopefully I won’t lose any Pokémon. After beating the second trainer in the gym, Lily evolved into a Lombre, so she will be even better now. Yay. Weepy died as it Nosepass used Block so it couldn’t escape, but Blaze got revenge with a critical ember ripping half of Nosepasses health away from him. Blaze managed to destroy the Team Aqua thug, and I will finish up for today.

My Team:
Spoiler:
Whistle / Whismur
Male Lv13
-Pound
-Uproar
-Astonish

Info – A very powerful Pokémon and can take away half of a Geodude’s life with a single Pound, which is a great help.

Blaze / Torchic
Male Lv14
-Ember
-Growl
-Focus Energy
-Scratch

Info – Is very useful with his high defence for a Torchic and is also strong.

Lily / Lombre
Female Lv16
-Absorb
-Growl
-Astonish
-Nature Power

Info – Easy the strongest Pokémon I have and has high speed and special attack so my attacks are better.

Backup:

None

Dead:
Spoiler:
Mega / Marill – Female Lv9
Tackle
Defence Curl
Tail Whip
Info – The least useful Pokémon I have had, I don’t really miss it.

Weepy / Poochyena – Female Lv13
Tackle
Howl
Sand-Attack
Bite
Info – Was a very useful addition to my team as she was the strongest, but sacrificed herself against Roxanne, I wish she didn’t die.

I will update soon.

Also, Sammuthegreat, I read the episodes on your blog and they were very interesting.

FireRed Nuzlocke Challenge

I started my run on FireRed last night and I thought I'd update, even though I'm not that far. Here are the rules of my challenge, courtesy of RaveSage:

Spoiler:
  1. If a Pokemon in your party faints, you must release it ASAP. You cannot use Revives.
  2. When you reach a new Route/Cave/Town/Ect. you can only catch the first Pokemon you see in that Area. You are allowed to have Pokemon in your PC box as "backup" for when you need new members to replace fainted ones.
  3. If you fail to catch the first Pokemon you see for ANY reason then you've missed out on your chance to get a Pokemon from that area. Because of this rule, you cannot catch any Pokemon on Route 1, ect. if you saw one there.
  4. You may only buy up to 10 Pokeballs from each Pokemart.
  5. You are not allowed to use Legendary Pokemon.
  6. If a town contains Gift Pokemon, you may treat these as your captured Pokemon for said area. For example, the Eevee you obtain from Bill in Goldenrod.
  7. Nickname all of your Pokemon so you have an attachment to them. "Each Pokemon is a best friend to you, to see them die is heartbreaking." (Not really a required rule, but makes things fun.)
  8. If you black out (all party Pokemon faint) and you have no backups in your PC, it's Game Over.
  9. You are not allowed to use any healing items outside of battle.
  10. You are not allowed to switch out before the trainer sends in his next Pokemon. (Change that setting in the Options Menu)
  11. No trading between games, hacking pokemon, ect. You know, stay in the spirit of the challenge...

Anyway, on to the game! I named myself Mary and my rival Gary (yeah, it rhymes, I know) and once all of the intro stuff was done, I proceeded to get my Squirtle, Paradox, from Professor Oak and we beat Gary's Bulbasaur with ease. I caught my next team member, a Pidgey named Hayley, on Route 1 after delivering the Pokeball to Professor Oak from Viridian City. I then headed back to Viridian City and caught my third team member, Rex the Rattata, on Route 22. After some major grinding to level 10, I took down Gary again on the edge of Route 22 with Rex and Paradox. Now, my team and I are going to rest and get some things before heading to Viridian Forest and Pewter City.

The Team:
Spoiler:

Paradox the Squirtle
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/e/e8/007.png
Male / Level 11
- Tackle
- Bubble
- Tail Whip
- Withdraw

Info: Love him! He's got great defensive stats and is able to take some hits. I can't wait until he learns some useful moves so he can be a double threat.

Hayley the Pidgey
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/5/5c/016.png
Female / Level 10
- Tackle
- Gust
- Sand Attack

Info: I had my doubts but I think she's going to turn out to be great. Not as defensive as Paradox, but she can only get better in time.

Rex the Rattata
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/d/d4/019_f.png
Male / Level 10
- Tackle
- Quick Attack
- Tail Whip

Info: He's fast and he hits hard too, a favorite combination of mine. He can also take hits as well, which surprised me. Can't wait to level him up more!

I probably won't be able to update until tomorrow or Monday at the latest but I wanted to get an update in before then.

mondays suck August 14th, 2010 8:25 AM

It's been some weeks since my last Nuzlocke run, about time for a new one. Playing a normal version, since any hacks other than Brown I tried screwed me over badly. Ruby it is, I can't just play this and that but miss the version where it all started.

Prepare for the most soulless nicknaming system ever!
Spoiler:

-Chose Mudkip, named LR.
- Evaded a Pokemon on the May route, and caught a Zigzagoon there, named 102.
- Next route: Another Zigzagoon, called RLY 102.
- lost 102 to a Zigzagoon
- Caught Wurmple, named 104
- Caught a Wurmple, named PBW. PBW poisoned 104 (Silcoon by then, who died.)
- PBR became a Cascoon, unsurpringly. Because Cascoons are EEEEVVVIIILL:shocked:
- killed a Whismur, caught another, VDDT
- Challenged Roxanne. Lost. Everything died in 2 hits from Rock Tomb. Duxtox actually took less damage than Mudkip. Disappointing. :(

Well, at least it was fun.

Leafbarrett August 14th, 2010 9:15 AM

._. I feel like a cheater. I used the 2 random doors in the trees in Pallet Town (probably put there for testing purposes) to go to Navel Rock and Birth Island (both of which had patches of grass added) to catch a Weedle and Caterpie. Am I right to feel like a cheater?

And the kicker is, that Weedle is a RNG-abusing badass, dishing out criticals and poison all over the place.

Scepy's Nuzlocke Run

Spoiler:

DAY 1:
I looked out my window to see my new town, Littleroot. My mom came running up and said that Prof. Birch was waitin for me on Route 101, bu said to go see his daughter first. I went to see May, we talked a bit, then I left for Route 101. When I got there, Birch was being chased by a Poochyena. Here begins the Nuzlocke Challenge.

I chose Torchic. Of course, I couldn't just leave, now could I? I went and battled the Poochyena.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/plmfa/255.png vs. http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/plmfa/261.png

WINNER
http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/plmfa/255.png

So Birch took me back to the lab. He talked a little, I toned out, watchin Torchic eat his pokefood. Then he said to go see his daughter...AGAIN. So fo course I had to go all the way north as possible to battle her.

BATTLE:

So after heading back to the lab, mom gave me some running shoes. I really needed certain shoes to run? Pfft. I headed to bed after that. I was tired, and it was 10:00 PM.

DAY 2:
Time to go catching some more buddies for Blaze, I thought as we ate breakfast. Mom had given Blaze a black ribbon, but Blaze had pecked it off. He was a fighter, not a contest pokemon. After breakfast we headed out. I guess I'll just write in here after I get the pokemon.

~~~5 HOURS LATER~~~
Wow, that was fun. I caught some new pokemon, and trained them a little. I guess I'll put everyone in here.
Day 3:
I went to Dewford and found the Steven that the Devon owner wanted me to find. Steven gave me a TM for Steel Wing, and then left. I used an Escape Rope to beat him out so I could talk to him more, but he was gone. Weird. I grabbed an Abra on my way in and remembered then to train it up. I lost him as soon as he evolved, yay. I went and battled Brawly, and I won with Gutsy the Taillow. After that, I headed to Slateport. Mr. Briney said it'd be a while, so I slept on the way there. I'll record my pokemon from that time.
I arrived at Slateport fully refreshed. Mr. Briney told me he and Peeko would be shopping, so I thanked him and left. I went to the boat builders and found that Captain Stern wasn't there. He was at the museum, so I went there and discovered Team Aqua members! I was surprised none of them battled me. I went and found where Stern was. Right before I gave him the parts, two team aqua members appeared and battled me. I pwned them. We left with no reward, sadly, and headed north only to find May. I lost Blaze to her Marshtomp, but Leana finished her off. I said bye to Blaze and released him. I'll miss that little fellow. He got me through my first battles of the region. CHAPTER 9 – Filling in the gaps
Spoiler:
I decided, after winning in Fortree, that I’d been chasing badges for too long. I needed a break from chasing after my goal of completing this Nuzlocke challenge, and so I decided to go down a few Routes I’d not been down before, and tie up a few loose ends. There were a lot of trainers I was yet to battle, and there were a lot of Pokemon I could still catch. So I started by Surfing north from Rustboro City to the random little outcrop of rock where a couple of trainers were.
I led with Charlie, thinking that I hadn’t used him much. First trainer threw out a Hariyama. Only lv.28, but I hedged my bets and switched in Crash, who finished him off easily. The second trainer led with Machop… great, another Fighting-type that could be super-effective against Charlie’s Normal-type. Still, Machop’s unevolved, and it was only lv.26, so I gambled, and Strength was a OHKO. Trainer 2’s second Pokemon was a Machoke, lv.26 also. Hmm. An evolved Machop… still, 11 levels should be enough, I though.
Blimey.
Charlie used Strength, which took off 75% of Machoke’s health. Oh dear. Not a OHKO… Machoke used Revenge. A Fighting-type move, super-effective against Charlie, that deals double damage – at a base power of 120 – if the user sustains damage before it attacks. Machoke had just sustained a lot of damage.
I nearly shat myself.
Time slowed down. I watched, powerless, as Charlie’s health went down… and down…
…AND DOWN…
…And stopped. At 9HP. 9 out of a possible 115.
Close call. Never again.
Next I headed down Route 105 towards Dewford Town from Petalburg. A few more trainers awaited me here. The first wild Pokemon I encountered was a Tentacool, male, lv.8. Whoopee. Charlie killed it just for the hell of it; I’m sure I can find another Tentacool should the need arise.
Further down was Route 106, where my first wild Pokemon was another Tentacool, lv.31 this time. Accidentally killed this one too, even though it might have been a plan to catch it just in case something should befall Crash… ah well, plenty more ‘cool in the pool.
I hit Dewford and healed up, then headed East on Route 107 as Charlie was getting pretty close to lv.40 by now, when he’d become an Exploud. The first Pokemon I bumped into was a Pelipper, another male, lv.30. I caught him because… well, I might as well really. I named him Clive. He knew Mist, which would have been good if Pelipper weren’t such a terrible Pokemon. I taught him Surf and Fly though, just in case. Onwards to Route 108, where my first wild encounter was a female Wingull, lv.30. Not interested, so Charlie used Shock Wave and she was no more.
I stopped off at the Abandoned Ship, where I bumped into a few trainers and Charlie hit lv.40, evolving into an Exploud! Hurrah. Exploud rock, what with their big silly mouths and angry little faces and series of weird tubes poking out of their heads. Charlie learned Hyper Beam and all was well. Inside the Abandoned Ship I found TM13, which of course contains Ice Beam. I was a bit miffed seeing as I’d spent 80000 Yen on the very same move earlier in the game, but I got over it. It’s only money, right?! I couldn’t finish the Abandoned Ship mini-quest because I didn’t have Dive yet, so I made a mental note to come back and moved on.
I eventually reached the end of Route 109 having defeated all the trainers and wild Pokemon there. I figured I’d been tying up loose ends for long enough now, so I flew back to Fortree City, healed up and set off down Route 120.
CHAPTER 10 – Psych-out
Spoiler:
Route 120 passed without any particular excitement. I’d already caught my one-Pokemon allowance here, so I just killed everything I came across. Route 121 came around and the first Pokemon I came across was a Zigzagoon… boo. I was hoping for a Shuppet, but I probably used up all my luck when I caught Major. Especially annoying was the fact that after I killed Zigzagoon, the next two Pokemon to show up were both Shuppet… I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: “ARGH”. I reached Lilycove with no further troubles, then flew to Slateport to pick up a Pokeblock case and nipped to the Safari Zone in case I could catch anything interesting. That something interesting turned out to be a Phanpy, which I managed to catch – lv. 29, female, Rash, named Rose. I do like Donphan, but I didn’t need another Ground-type, so sadly Rose was boxed away.
I got quite a long way today while I was away from the computer. After reaching Lilycove I quickly did Mt. Pyre, where the first Pokemon I met was a Shuppet. I took it down to half health but then it used Curse, so it killed itself. Arses. After finished Mt. Pyre I moved onto Route 123, where the first Pokemon I met was another Shuppet, lv.27, female. I threw an Ultra Ball at her straight away just in case she committed suicide with Curse like the last one, and it caught her in one! Good news. Her natures was Relaxed (meh) and I named her Spice.
I went back to Slateport to talk to Capt. Stern, and witnessed Team Aqua stealing his submarine. Shady business indeed. Back to Lilycove – via Rustboro to pick up the Exp. Share – to sort out their Hideout, which didn’t take long (and I picked up a Master Ball in the process). Sadly I was a bit late though, and Archie the Team Aqua Boss escaped in the submarine. Spice was gaining a nice few levels by now.
The Route to the East of Lilycove had opened up now, so I Surfed along it, beating a few trainers and catching my first Tentacool (lv.23, female, Naïve, named Gem). Even though I seem to be getting lucky with Pokemon on this run, I’m not getting too lucky with natures. Tentacool’s biggest strength is its outstanding Special Defence, and my Tentacool’s nature lowers hers by 10%. Terrific.
Onwards and upwards, though; I reached Mossdeep, where Steven gave me HM08 – Dive. I taught this to Bubble (a Marill I caught in the pond in Petalburg City immediately after beating my father’s Gym – forgot to include that in my update), caught and discovered that the Gym was Psychic-type. The Gym leaders here use Rock/Psychic types though, which removes a lot of their weaknesses, but importantly makes them weak to Water. Another Gym in which Crash can excel, then.
I trained up a few levels around the surrounding Routes – in fact I made it all the way down to Pacifidlog Town (one of the more ridiculous town names in Pokemon games) and Spice evolved into a Banette. Good times.
Eventually I headed back to Mossdeep to chance my arm against Liza and Tate, the Gym leaders. And in the end, they were no match for Crash and Major. After an easy win, I taught the Calm Mind TM I had won to Spice, and moved on.
CHAPTER 11 – A date with destiny
Spoiler:
After I’d finished Mossdeep Gym, I figured I’d track down the submarine Archie had stolen. Where might one find a submarine… At the bottom of the ocean, of course. I wonder if my new HM will help me out here…?
Of course it did. I tracked down the submarine in no time and started to work my way through the Underwater Cavern, taking out Aqua Grunts as I went along and catching a new Zubat - named him Taser. A couple of close shaves later – Spice is something of a glass cannon, it seems – I made it to the final room, where a large, orca-shaped beast lay dormant in the middle of the room.
As I approached it, Archie appeared from behind me, and challenged me to a fight! I was slightly nervous given that he was pretty tough the last time we fought, but this time I was a whole lot stronger Archie was no match whatsoever. Major wiped the floor with his team singlehandedly.
When the match finished though, Archie laughed… He had the Red Orb with him, the Orb he’d obtained at Mount Pyre! It started to glow, and the shape in the middle of the room started to stir… It was a Pokemon! A legendary Pokemon! Kyogre, the Pokemon that controls the very seas! It awoke, and vanished from the room…
When I got outside, the weather had taken a turn for the worse, to say the least. Torrential downpours now lashed the entire region of Hoenn; the whole world was flooding! And it was up to me to solve the problem. I Dived again to Sootopolis City on Steven’s advice, where I entered the Cave of Origin to face Kyogre.
My first wild Pokemon in this area was a Sableye, lv.32, female. I caught her after a few wasted Pokeballs. I named my new Sableye Shade, and moved on. I now wouldn’t be able to catch Kyogre (not that I would anyway, since Legendaries aren’t allowed on a Nuzlocke team), so I headed onwards to kill the beast.
I reached Kyogre, and sent out Major to do battle. Major had a level advantage (only one) and type advantage, with Kyogre being Water-type. I led with Thunderbolt, which took off over half Kyogre’s health, and Kyogre used Ice Beam. I prayed that it wouldn’t freeze Major… it didn’t. But Major had very little health left; while I was throwing unsuccessful Ultra Balls at Shade, he’d taken a few hits. One more Thunderbolt would finish Kyogre and pretty much save the world, but if it missed… I didn’t want to think about it. Major used Thunderbolt… it hit. Kyogre was down.
I’d saved the world.
I Escape Roped out of the cave, to rapturous applause, showers of women and riches and the general adulation of the entire human race. Or, in true Pokemon style, I left the cave and no-one even acknowledged it. Ho hum.
Next up, I’ll challenge Wallace, the last Gym leader, as I edge towards the finish line!
ARGHFRGL! This challenge is owning my butt. I'm recording it, and can't make it past the very beginning of the game. Once, I got Mudkip and a Poochyena, who died in training -restart- forgot to change settings and nickname Mudkip -restart- Ziggy died in training -restart- Poochyena died in training -restart- ran into a pokemon before i fought may (and found freaking shiny wurmple) -restart- killed first catchable pokemon -restart- Mudkip died X2 -restart- ran into a pokemon before I fought may -restart-. I'm not having a good day yet.
Lord_Storm August 14th, 2010 8:27 PM
Day 2 of my Pokémon Emerald Nuzlocke Challenge and hopefully no more casualties within my team.
Day 2
Spoiler:
I taught Blaze cut as no other Pokémon on my team could learn it, decided to finish up Route 116. After a horrible critical by May’s Torkoal, Blaze was murdered, but Whistle got revenge and Lily destroyed May’s Mudkip. I then caught a male Magikarp and named it Rage. In Granite cave I caught Hammer the female Makuhita in Granite Cave. Grinding time. God Damn then Makuhita’s, critting Whistle after he missed a pound attack, so he’s also dead. Rage finally learns tackle, and my most hated Pokémon so far, Makahita critted with an Arm thrust and killed him. Grrr. I delivered the package to Steven and defeated all of the trainers in the gym and am about to fight Brawly.
Against Machop Lily died from a critical Karate Chop so it’s all up to Hammer. It’s now between Hammer the Lv20 female Makuhita and Brawly’s Lv19 male Makuhita. The battle starts out with an Arm Thrust by Hammer, but is countered by a OHKO Vital Throw.
My best Pokemon was
I have lost the challenge but I am starting again now.
myrrhman August 14th, 2010 8:45 PM
Yes you are. See above post.
Edit: Ho-freaking-ray. I made it past the beginning. On the route between Petalburg City and Petalburg Woods with...
KIPPER (Mudkip)
FANG (Poochyena)
NUZLOCKE (Seedot) <3<3<3
SENTINEL (Wingull)
Guess which one was easy to name?
Lord_Storm August 14th, 2010 9:43 PM
This is my second Challenge, the same rules apply as in my last challenge other than I can only buy up to ten pokeballs per mart and two of the best potions, but I will be using a different starter this time, it is the least used one, yes that’s right, it’s Treecko.
Day 1
Spoiler:
I did all of the boring stuff and got my male Treecko from Route 101, named it Speckle, and left to meet May. Grinded to level 7 on Route 101, encountered a wild Poochyena on Route 103 crushed her Torchic, and Speckle levelled up to Lv8, and then headed home. On route 102, I caught Racer the male Zigzagoon. I was annoyed with Speckle’s nature, Sassy, as it lowered his speed, which is his main stat, but Racer’s Jolly nature was good as it raised his speed, at the cost of his Special Attack. I grinded Racer to level 8, and set out to get to Petalburg City, to meet my Dad. When I got to Petalburg City, both Speckle and Racer were Lv9 so I helped a little boy get a Ralts and then headed onto Route 104. On Route 104, I met Dusty the male Wurmple and in Petalburg Woods I caught Weepy2 the Female Poochyena (reference to first challenge, in which I caught a female Poochyena in Petalburg Woods called Weepy). Dusty evolved after some long grinding into a Cascoon, yay.
I decided that evolving Dusty was my highest priority, so I grinded him first so that I didn’t have a weak little cocoon on my team. Dusty the Dustox! I grinded my whole team to Lv10 and then entered Petalburg Woods. I didn’t know if Weepy2 was going to come out of the Team Aqua battle alive, but she is more powerful than I thought. I escaped Petalburg Woods, got the TM and headed up to Rustboro City. On Route 116, I caught a female Whismur and named her Screech, and in Rusturf Tunnel, I caught another female Whismur and called her Whistler (reference to Whistle on first challenge.
I am going to take on the gym now and am hoping for no casualties. None so far, and I’m about to challenge Roxanne with a Lv15 Speckle. No casualties whatsoever and Speckle has evolved into Grovyle. Yes!
That’s all for today, no casualties and my team is:
Spoiler:
Whistler / Whismur Lv7
Weepy2 / Poochyena Lv11
Racer / Zigzagoon Lv11
Dusty / Dustox Lv11
Screech / Whismur Lv11
Speckle / Grovyle Lv16
I also caught Joducus the Wurmple, now Silcoon. And all that before Petalburg, I'm actually grinding this time.
QUESTION: When it says no healing out of battle. Does that mean no Pokecentres or just no Potions etc. ?
Actually the only rules that are obligatory are faint=death and 1P/area. Anything else is optional (with some rules like set mode being more common than others), so if you want to play with that rule, make it as you like it the most.
OK, thanks.
First little Update
I started my Journey when I left my house. My Mom asked me to get a pint of milk, yet I was stopped by some old man who told me the grass was dangerous. Yeah, I wouldn't call Birds and Rats dangerous.
Anyway, he gave me a Pokemon. He said it was called Charmander. Yet the Random Name Generator I was using called it Kermit, so that's what I named it. Oak did not look happy.
Some idiot challenged Kermit to a battle with his Turtle. Kermit owned it.
Got the parcel, Blah Blah Blah.
Got some PokeBalls and caught my first Pokemon. It was a Bird called Pidgey. The Random Name Generator disagreed again and decided to call it Jožef.
I decided to level Jožef up. Yet it got poisoned by a worm and I couldn't make it to the PokeCentre in time.
When I got into Viridian Forest I encountered my Second Pokemon. A Kakuna I caught and called Ramon. Leveling it up was the hardest as it only knew Harden.
When I got Ramon to level 10 it evolved into an Epic looking wasp. It still only knew harden. Kermit evolved into a boring looking bigger version of it's original self. Except it had a spike on it's head.
Challenged Brock, spammed Ember. Got the badge. On to Cerulean!
Ok, I've somehow managed to get distracted for a while, but here is my newest update:
Spoiler:
Started grinding again. Fought a Seedot, had Mladen (Zig) out, with maybe half HP. My nose itched and I forgot what I was just doing. Used tackle. Seedot unleashed energy.
...
This is pretty much the worst kind of death
So, I somehow got the Boulderbadge or whatever it's called in this version, with this team:
Spoiler:
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac79/mondayssukc/a1-132.jpg?t=1281887141
Man, this is getting huge, should have resized it.... Ah, whatever
So yeah. I pretty much grinded Vasily, killed stuff around Rusboro with mainly Joducus and let Groyvle Shi Huang solo the gym. And I caught 2 Whismurs, none of which has been grinded yet.
Spoiler:
Also, up to now, I've been able to "borrow" a picture for every single Pokemon from Nuzlocke's ruby comic (obviously, except Huang, although I could do that as well if I wanted). Let's see how long this will be doable. Bets?
._. For once, I'm actually one of the people that's GOOD at something Pokemon-related... Guess this makes up for my competitive battling being suck-tastic.
Well, I AM playing Moemon Leaf Green, not normal Pokemon Leaf Green; like I said, those were probably there to test the different sprites. I'll just look at it this way: I'm just using what the game gave me.
Bwah. 3 times I've tried to edit this message, and only now does it actually let me. The other 2 times it gave me server errors and I had to wait nearly 10 mintes each time before I could even get back in.
Took on Deoxys, took down Deoxys. :D
OHSH*T. Machoke with Revenge and a 3-level advantage just about DECIMATED my Sandslash... ;-; 3/84 left... Sitrus Berry to the rescue, but missed with Iron Tail, and right back down to 7... Next Iron Tail did the job, but oh god, that scared me... *clings to Sandra* ;-;
Ooh, fancy. The forum automatically merges double posts?
Day 6:
We got to Lavaridge today. I saw May in the hot springs, but I went on to the gym. I got past every trainer, used my one heal, and headed to Flannery. She was mean! She killed Leana and Trickster, but Lily finished her off. I'm happy I got that extra Whismur from Rusturf Tunnel. Time to train him/her. I don't know what gender it is. That's sad...
^darksceptile I found a shiny on my Nuzlocke Run as well!
Diamond Progress
I was standing on the top of Spear Pillar, the highest point in Sinnoh. Right now I would have felt like I was king of the world, but Cyrus’s plan was in its final stage, and if he succeeded there would be no world left to be king of. Jacques and I had just defeated Mars and Jupiter and my Pokemon were fully healed. This was a Nuzlocke Challenge so my Pokemon must be kept in top form at all times. “Enough chatter” began Cyrus “Time to create the new world that I desire!!!”
Cyrus held up the red chain. “I call on the power of the legendary Pokemon, the deity of time, Dialga!”
The ground shook as a figure emerged the eons and centuries of time. Its deadly roar seemed to shape the very fabric of time itself. I knew this wouldn’t be an easy fight. I ran towards Dialga, ready to bring it down. When Cyrus stepped in front of me. “Where do you think you’re going?” he asked
“I’m going to stop your insane plans once and for all, Cyrus!” I cried. Cyrus seemed to chuckle at this, “I can shape the world as I see fit” called Cyrus “I am a deity, you are a fool to challenge me!”
Then, Cyrus gave Dialga an attacking motion. It was about to unleash its signature attack, Roar of Time, when the three lake guardians, Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf appeared. They combined their psychic powers, and the red chain that bound Dialga had snapped. “I’ve had enough!” Cyrus yelled “You won’t be interfering with my plans any longer, Mick!”
The battle began as Cyrus sent out Honchkrow. I used B.O.B, my Porygon-Z, as it new Thunderbolt, and possessed a magnet as its hold item. I’d known Cyrus would be using 3 flying type Pokemon, so I’d thought this strategy up. Cyrus delivered the first blow. His Honchkrow’s Night Slash was a sturdy hit, but B.O.B was still standing. “Thunderbolt!” I commanded.
Honchkrow’s high HP stat left it alive, but barely. Cyrus unleashed another Night Slash, but B.O.B took the hit and continued with another Thunderbolt to leave Cyrus at 3 Pokemon. Next up was Gyarados, Thunderbolt could have easily killed it, but this was a Nuzlocke Challenge, and if a Pokemon was gone, it was gone forever, ergo I wasn’t going to take any risks. I switched to Jiffy, my trusty Gastrodon, as it can take a hit or two. Jiffy easily took Gyarados’s hits, left and right as it covered for B.O.B who was nearly devoid of HP. Eventually, Gyarados was downed via strength, but the battle had just begun. I could see Cyrus twitch, perhaps he was losing his cool.
“Enough is enough!” cried Cyrus, “Go Weavile”. Weavile was Cyrus’s ace Pokemon, even one night slash could send your HP down to 0. I promptly sent out Kazzy, my Infernape for the type advantage.
“Night Slash!” Cyrus bellowed. Weavile charged for Kazzy and slashed it with its sharp claw. I watched Kazzy’s HP fall, could this be the end of our time together? Kazzy survived the hit and promptly countered with an array of punches and kicks known only as Close Combat to finish off Weavile once and for all. Cyrus threw his final Poke ball in a fit of rage to send out Crobat, a powerful poison and flying type Pokemon.
“Your done for, Cyrus!” I called out, while throwing a Pokeball. B.O.B was ready to blast Crobat to pieces.
“Crobat, use Poison Fang!” called Cyrus. B.O.B was down, but not out. “Thunderbolt!!!!!” I commanded. B.O.B drew all its inner power to deliver a powerful string of electricity to Cyrus’s Crobat. It was nearly finished, we were this close to saving Sinnoh, no, the entire world at large. Crobat’s weakened state let B.O.B attack first and deliver the final, shocking blow.
Cyrus put his face in his hands as Crobat slowly fluttered to the ground, not crying, but shaking with anger. He burst up and shouted “No this isn’t over, the human spirit is incomplete and WILL be destroyed!”
I had defeated Cyrus. I couldn’t believe it. That wasn’t the end of my mission, however, I had to defeat Dialga and save the world. I could hear, Rowan, Dawn, and my rival Jacques cheering for me as I stepped into battle. Dialga let out a mighty roar. “Go Kazzy!” I cried. Kazzy let out a battle cry, ready to defeat Dialga and save the world. I led with Flamethrower, which braised through Dialga’s hard steel plating. I was quite confident that we might win. Then Dialga unleashed its most powerful attack, ripping right through Kazzy, Roar of Time. I watched Kazzy’s HP fall to 0, every second of it pained me. I had lost my starter Pokemon, but he wasn’t just a Pokemon, he was a friend.
“Avenge his death, Jiffy!” I cried as my Gastrodon came out, sheer determination in its eyes. Dialga had to charge, so we took advantage and unleashed a critical hit mud bomb, defeating Dialga. I stood there, I had done it. I had saved all of Sinnoh. I was congratulated by my friends. I was a true hero, but at what cost. I paid my final respects to Kazzy, and continued on, tears, ever-present in my soft blue eyes.
“This isn’t over!” I cried, facing the sky “I’m going to make Kazzy proud, and become the League Champion!”
and the reason I use big words and such is because I entered it for the short story contest.
Anyway there is a New, "Ask Ace" feature. Anyone can submit a question and I will answer it or give advice to the best of my ability.
Example:
N00b: I need a fire type for the Elite Four in Hoenn.
Ace: Camperupt is both sturdy and powerful and Torkoal's ability makes it immune to lowered stats, both are very good choices. :)
The Story so far:
+ http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/9/9d/Spr_1b_004.png I picked Charmander and named him Dargo =D. Me and him are gonna be best buddies... ^^
+ My rival, Nuzloke, challenges me. To which, I respond with pwnage. Dargo grows to lv.6 =D
+ To viridian and back for old man Oak's parcel, blah blah...
+ I get my pokedex and I'm off, back to Viridian =D. I thought I'd pop in to Route 22 and see what I can find...
+ http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/4/48/Spr_1b_029.png To be perfectly honest I was kinda hoping for a male. Nonetheless, I caught her and named her Chelsea.
+ Back to Route 1 for some good ol' fashioned grinding =D. There were a few close shaves, but we got there.
+ At lv.8 I decided to press north. After watching the old man's tedious (and let's be honest, after 14 years, pointless) lecture on catching, I begin Route 2. Wonder what will appear first...
+http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/c/cd/Spr_1b_016.png Meh, why not. Called him Jefferey, after a friend's suggestion.
+ Back for more grinding! D=<
It’s my second day on the challenge and hopefully it doesn’t end up how the last one did, as I was careless, and sammuthegreat, couldn’t think of a name for my Makuhita, so I just thought of something that would hurt.
Day 2
Spoiler:
I left to find Peeko and rescue him from the clutches of Team Aqua after grinding my team up a little, and being scared of what happened in my last challenge I’m grinding all of my team really high. After grinding all of my team to level 16, I decided to challenge May, and I am really hoping not to lose anyone. Well that was easier than I had expected, two OHKO’s by Weepy2 and I’m on my way. I headed off to Dewford, and grabbed an Old Rod and got to fishing. In Dewford, I caught a female Magikarp and named her Cannon, and put her in the PC as backup. In Granite Cave I found a male Makuhita named Wrestle, but have placed him in the PC. I went to find Steven first and then grinded my team to level 20 before fighting the gym. While grinding, Racer evolved, which is awesome as Racer was not powerful enough, but should be stronger now. Whistler and Screech have both evolved into Loudred and are both very good now. Weepy2 has evolved and has become insanely strong, but I just have to watch out for those Lv10+ Makuhita’s and their Arm Thrust’s. Lv10 Makuhita! 2 HP Weepy2! Aargh!
Time to challenge the gym. I hope for no casualties, and an easy win :/. I love Dusty with Confusion and Gust with his OHKO’s against every Pokémon in the gym, please, please, please do this against Brawly, Dusty. Yes! 2HKO against Machop, 3HKO against Meditite and 5 hits to kill Makuhita, I killed Brawly!
Time to go to Slateport City! I unleashed fury upon Slateport Beach, and obliterated everyone until I got my Soda Pop! I met Dock and went to pay to get into a museum that is being raided. After Racer OHKO’d all of the Team Aqua grunts Pokémon, I gave Cpt. Stern the Devon Goods and left for Mauville. On Route 110, I found a female Minun and named her Zapps, and threw her in the PC. I completed the first Trick House Puzzle and got a Rare Candy that I’m going to save until I need it. As I got into the battle with May, her Combusken used Double Kick on Whistler and left him with 7 HP, I panicked and changed to Racer and obliterated the rest of her Pokémon and ran back to Slateport Pokémon centre. I arrived in Mauville after a few easy battles, but I will continue next time.
Giovanni was an absolute joke... ._.
Lord_Storm: Yes, that's the ticket! Just grind like crazy, and your team will be fine~ All 6 of my pokemon were at level 10 before I even entered Viridian Forest. Maybe that's why I'm doing so well: I'm making DAMN sure my pokemon are high enough of a level to handle anything. Oh, and you might wanna update your signature.
And a tip to anyone playing: As soon as you get to wherever the department store is in your game, if you have any Super Potions, sell them and go to the rooftop. Selling a Super Potion gets you enough to buy a Lemonade, which is FAR better :D The vendor drinks > everything else in terms of HP per price.
Spoiler:
Ok, so I started Ruby and found my team in a situation where it required some grinding. So I started grinding Mina the Whismur, and everything went well, until that one crit. By a Zigzagoon. I should have seen it coming... Well, at least Chidiebere has been doing very well so far. So I grinded C. to a decent level and advanced to Dewford. The first thing I did there was challenging Brawly, with Joducus. Unexpectedly his Machop had Seismic Toss, which made things somewhat harder and made me use a few Potions. Makuhita was no challenge though.
Speaking of Makuhita... Yes, I caught one in that cave, and it's unnamed because I misclicked. Ah well, there's worse things than unnamed Pokemon. Wattson, for example. I think with Huang and Makuhita he should be piece of cake though. For once.
This leaves me with the following team:
So, Ace, does this mean that I get to revive someone? Also, playing through next segment tonight.
Meap and Cheese August 17th, 2010 3:11 AM
Can I sign up for a Ruby Nuzlocke Challenge?
Lord_Storm August 17th, 2010 3:24 AM
I don't have much time so I'll keep this brief.
I grinded my team to level 30 and took on Wattson, with Whistler taking down all of his team except for Manectric, who Racer took down easily. That's all today but tomorrow will hopefully have a bigger update.
My team is the same other than the levels, which are all 30.
Meap and Cheese, you are automatically signed up when you post your first update to the challenge, and AceDragonite, I don't seem to be on the list of challengers for R/S/E, when I am doing a challenge on Pokemon Emerald.
Second update :D
The Story so Far:
+ Enter Viridian Forest. And the first pokemon is:
+ http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/d/da/Spr_1b_013.png Nice B)
+ I call Weedle Larry, and it was a simple case of growing some levels until Pewter City.
+ I decide to do some grinding. After what seemed like forever, I challenged the gym.
+ Bad move. I was fortunate enough not to lose anyone against the first trainer. Back out for some training - much to the dismay of the team. However, 2 cool things happened:
+ http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/0/06/Spr_1b_014.png And then...
+ http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/4/45/Spr_1b_015.png Larry. Too cool for school B)
+ Back to try and beat Brock. The fight ensued, and I had a brilliant tactic... spam Sand-Attack with Jefferey! >=D Switched out to Dargo so he could burn that rock to death. Same tactic with Onix. No casualties.
+ On to Route 3 now, and after a few battles:
+ http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/b/b3/Spr_1b_030.png Chelsea's growing up... =')
+ New capture: http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/c/cd/Spr_1b_016.png JeffereyII - should anything happen to my dear Jefferey. Boxed.
+ I reach Mt.Moon, and catch the first thing that appears!
+ http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/f/f7/Spr_1b_041.png Inevitable I suppose. Okay Zuzu, you're boxed.
+ http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/6/6a/Spr_1b_005.png Dargo's cool points just went up B)
+ What's that on the ground... a Moon Stone! >=)
+ http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/e/e9/Spr_1b_031.png The grinding was worth it after all... ^^
+ I nabbed the Dome Fossil (might aswell treat that as my Cinnibar pokemon) and got the hell outa there.
+ What will I find on Route 4?
+ http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/8/81/Spr_1b_021.png I was looking for one of those =D I shall call him FeatherJoe. Boxed.
+ In Cerulean, I find a Rare Candy. Now who to use it on... Jefferey!
+ http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/0/07/Spr_1b_017.png Right decision much? B)
+ Next step: Nugget Bridge =D
Time to continue
Spoiler:
Beat Team Aqua and May (Combusken was a pain, stupid Peck...). Advanced to Mauville. Really hoped for Oddish on the eastern route...and got Illumise. Useless. Aliyah is at level 14 and enjoying the box. I'm not going to waste all the time to grind an Illumise up again after E386, where that thing was a total disaster. So, right before the Wattson battle, Makuhita evolved. So I got myself a few Super Potions and challenged. Magnemite went down in one hit. Voltorb selfdestructed, which only did 1/3. Magneton used Sonicboom twice and then died. Wow, Hariyama is awesome. Except that it's name is still Makuhita.:cheeky:
But there's not only good things. For example, I think my only Pokemon that can learn Rock Smash is Makuhita. Ugh...
The Glorious Team:
:t267: Joducus, level 24 - Gust, Mega Drain, Poison Sting, Stun Spore
:t297: Makuhita, level 25 - Tackle, Vital Throw, Sand Attack, Arm Thrust
:t309: Cinzia, level 24 - Quick Attack, Thunder Wave, Spark, Howl
How can add those pokemon emoticons that look like pokemon themselves?
Leafbarrett August 17th, 2010 9:50 AM
:t###: with those ### being the number of the pokemon. If you want to add Charizard, for example, you'd use t006 to get :t006:.
...Speaking of Charizard... My first casualty has happened. Sabrina's Alakazam got a crit Psychic when I tried to switch in Ayumi from my Lapras. Never stood a chance.
R.I.P.
Ayumi :t006: Lv5 - Lv38
You could go here and find the sprites. So to add the Charizard sprite from Platinum, you open up, say, the Platinum Sprites page, and find Charizard. Click on the link and the picture will appear - right click, then "Copy image URL."
Then when you post here, click the little picture button at the top of the text box you're typing in - it looks like a little picture frame with mountains and a moon/sun in it. Paste the URL you just copied into the notification that pops up on screen, and voila:
http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/plmfa/6.png
Charizard!
Also, your rules are pretty intense, haha. I'm playing without any healing/reviving items at all, but I am using TMs, Rare Candies and hold items. I think I'll play your way on my next Nuzlocke, because after the 4th Gym this run has been pretty straightforward on the whole!
P.S. Read my blog chronicling my journey, the link's in my sig :)
Also I'll sign everyone up
Kylie-chan August 17th, 2010 7:06 PM
On a Platinum Nuzlocke now (my HGSS one... I just... lost interest, since I've played HGSS so many times XDD;;)! Except I edited one route to have 100% encounter rate for Delibird -- because I feel like playing with a Delibird. It learns Fly, it's cute, and Present is hilarious, though veryyyy risky to use. 8( I just got to Oreburgh Town with:
Delibird Lv. 9 (it swept an entire team)
Chimchar Lv. 12
Shinx Lv. 9
Zubat Lv. 8
Gonna have to train so I can beat Roark @[email protected] It's gonna be fun. Not.
Ace: Nice comic!
^hey Kylie-Chan, didn't think I'd see you around here. And thanks for the praise.
I can understand when you want to play with a certain Pokemon on Nuzlocke, lol I have a Porygon-Z on my diamond, and Captain Slash, the Scizor on my LG. Its nice for a change of pace because I've played the games so many times.
Oh and Hita, my mankey shown in the previous comic, died. so it killed a diglett (that I needed badly) then died...I feel like I swallowed a double-edged sword XD
And just 1 question....
http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/CKmaster/Pokemon-LeafGreen00.png?t=1282118437
HOW THE HELL AM I GOING TO BEAT LT. SURGE?
Scytha August 18th, 2010 12:54 AM
Just about to start a Diamond Nuzlocke.
Arggg. I'm going away, so I'll have to do this later.
Use Weepinbell. Electric resistance and Sleep Powder to minimalize Double Team spam. Raticate with Dig could work fine as well. Or just delay battling him until waaaaay later.
As for my own run, I still haven't decided which of Hariyama's moves to delete for Rock Smash. It knows Tackle, Sand-Attack, Vital Throw and Arm Thrust. Suggestions?
Hmm. Bella there would be a good choice, and Slash for backup.
Tackle if you want to increase power (Rock Smash is 40 while Tackle is 35). Sand Attack if you want to keep Tackle for (slightly) more type coverage.
mondays suck August 18th, 2010 10:17 AM
Actually Rock Smash only has 20 power in this generation, factoring in STAB that's 20, which is still not exactly much. I guess I'll delete Sand-Attack, since both the Fighting-moves are very situational, and if I delete Tackle, pretty much any random bird will kill me...
Move deleter is in Lilycove... Could be worse, I think I'll manage to get there in the mid 30s.
PalkiaSpace August 18th, 2010 10:24 AM
Not a big update, I only ran back to New Bark to get my everstone, then went back to Azalea. I fought a couple of rocket grunts, but my team is the same.
