Pokerus!
Okay, so I guess pokerus is a bit more common in the Gen. IV games. My question is how common is "a bit more common?" Shiny common? Running into a Zubat common?
See, I remember getting pokerus in Ruby and freaking out over it because it was like the rarest thing that could happen to me. But now that it's more common... Does anyone else who got Pokerus legit kinda feel trashed out? Should I feel like that? I know that's stupid but I spent hours and hours looking for it in my spare time before I finally got it. How long does it take to find now? And one last question, is there a way to tell if a pokemon has it BEFORE you catch it? |
Theres no way of knowing a Pokemon has it unless you catch it and check. Or in rare cases when you enter a battle and you finish it, the Pokemon you battled with may have it too.
|
Okay, well that's a shame. Does anyone know how common it is now? I know they boosted it up from generation III to IV
|
What Charizard★ said. You can't know before catching if the wild Pokemon is infected with PokeRus. It's really easy to get it now because of Wi-Fi, but the odds of encountering it are still the same -- 3 / 65536. A quick search doesn't provide any answer to the contrary.

Would you like a Pokemon infected with it?
|
Oh lol, I remember getting this back in my oooold Ruby save file in like 2005. I remember I deleted the save because I thought it was some weird glitch... :(
|
Pokerus isn't common, people just keep hacking it, so now anyone with an action replay has 50 pokemon with pokerus
|
Oh... That's really a shame. I don't see why people use those. Gamesharks, AR's, it's all fun and stuff when you're playing on a ROM, but can't people leave them for that? And thanks for explaining that to me, I just read the Bulbapedia topic and it said that it was more common now, but it didn't say why or how.
I suppose if someone has a pokemon that WASN'T hacked, I would like that have pokerus, but I think chances of that are pretty low now :D |

I just happened to be playing through my Platinum normally when I arrived at Snowpoint, I think it was. Much to my surprise, the nurse told me that my Pokemon had contracted the Pokerus, so that was definitely a (pleasant) surprise. I've kept a few infected Pokemon in my PC ever since, though I haven't used it for EV training in months.
