Steelix Moveset

need a bit of commentary, how's this?

Steelix
EVs: 252 Attack/252 HP/6 Defense

Rock Slide
Taunt
Toxic

figure i'd use him to keep whatever i'm fighting in battle, sound good?

Explosion/Rest
Roar
Earthquake
Protect/Sleep Talk
* Stalking Steelix is fun, I must say...

lizardman November 21st, 2004 1:49 PM

item:ironcoat/leftovers
moves:
earthquake/hyperbeam
crunch
irontail/sandstorm
torment/attract/protect/toxic

Murpheos November 22nd, 2004 3:31 AM

Item: Kings Rock/Leftovers
Iron Tail
Dragon breath
Earthquake
Rock Slide/Crunch/Double Edge

IceKitten November 22nd, 2004 4:37 AM

I use attacking one, but I don't bother with Steelix's so yeah

EQ
RS
Crunch
Iron Tail

Spectrum November 22nd, 2004 4:50 AM

Rock Slide
Earthquake
Iron Tail
Dragon Breath

Meh, I've never used Steelix in battle. I guess I got a bad impression of it after my Lv.27 Quilava sweeped Jasmine's Steelixes.

IceKitten November 22nd, 2004 5:13 AM

Jasmine only has one Steelix XD

She has two Magnemites too

Iveechan November 22nd, 2004 5:19 AM

Crunch and Dragonbreath should never be on Steelix. Ever. Except for leveling up when you need extra moves.

Toothache November 22nd, 2004 5:20 AM

Meh, I can never understand why people ruin Steelix with bad moves...

[email protected]
EV: 252 HP, 129 Def, 129 Att
Nature: + Def/Att, - Sp Att
Earthquake
HP Steel/Toxic
Rock Slide/Explosion
Roar/Explosion

No no no! How many times must people make the mistake of putting Iron Tail on Steelix? HP Steel is the only reliable Steel attack worth getting, even Meteor Mash misses more often than is good for Metagross. Iron Tail is reserved for the weak and the desperate Pokemon (since it's about the only way for Pidgeot to damage something like Golem, unless you count HP Fighting), and Steelix is neither of those - decent attack, monumental defence, and has a nice variety of moves to use.

Spike Razzor November 23rd, 2004 4:04 AM

Tooth brings up a valid point, only something like CB Tauros should ever use such a move. Also, Taunt is impossible to use on with Steelix, it WAY too slow to even make a difference.

Mana Lugia November 23rd, 2004 8:04 AM

I wonder how many people would be trying to self boost against a pseudohazer to begin with instead of just smacking it down with special attacks...

Nathaniel Essex November 23rd, 2004 9:48 AM

good point about the taunt and speed issue, thank you.

Nathaniel Essex November 24th, 2004 1:17 AM

if i was using a steelix as a strick tank, how about this?

[email protected]
Nature: Relaxed (+Special Defense,-Speed)
EVs: 252 HP/252 Special Defense

Toxic
Roar
Earthquake
Rockslide

yea yea i know you're supposed to usually take some form of attack with EVs, but with this wouldn't i be able to take a lot more damage? i mean yea, i'd be hoping that toxic did most of my damage, but with leftovers and all the special defense training, coupled with the fact his defense is realms beyond anything else in game, i'd like to believe this is a good call.

Toothache November 24th, 2004 2:41 AM

Even with max Sp Def EV, Steelix is still screwed against his weaknesses (Fire and Water). The fact that Steelix is marginally faster than Dusclops might provoke me to go with + Att, - Sp Att nature instead. Steelix flinching anything is annoying, Steelix flinching without paralysis is just fun for the user

Too bad his HP sux balls ._.

Anyway, m00b, quake, slide, and roar is the way to go. He doesn't have the defenses to last all battle while you wait for Toxic to take its toll. ANd he DEFINITELY isn't fast enough for Rock Slide to make them flinch >.<

IceKitten November 24th, 2004 6:54 AM

Don't say things like that Kholdstaire, have you read the rules of PC?

Shuckle November 24th, 2004 7:01 AM

lol...

Anyway. go with kholds set.

Mana Lugia November 24th, 2004 9:37 AM

sux balls: Sucks bubble gum balls, you know those lollies that have bubble gum balls in the middle?

What were you thinking, Tig? O_o

Frostweaver November 24th, 2004 4:28 PM

We all know what it implies... don't run around the gap in PC rules. Just because mod lounge is (safe to overgeneralize this ^^) completely lazy and hypocritical, that doesn't give you the power to follow suite and fall from the grace. Watch the language. PE2K and PC work a bit differently from one another.

As well, don't double post.

lol and of course Dusclops have low hp... or else, it'll be another Pokemon up in the deadliness of the calmcune rank =/

Ice demon November 24th, 2004 5:33 PM

Well.....
i would go with explosion, roar, slide, quake
...<< as if it hasn't been stated 5 times already......hehe.........

Mana Lugia November 24th, 2004 7:01 PM

Yes, it implies that, but why are you taking the implied meaning over the actual meaning? "sux balls" in itself isn't even vulgar. And btw, Pe2k frowns on stuff like this too, but cracking down on random things is a bit too much, let alone by members who aren't (sometimes thankfully) mods to begin with. Anyways, yes, I prolly wouldn't advise Khold to say that here, considering the forum is dominated by 13 year olds, or older people who want to think they are 13 and pure. But seriously, is it any justification for someone to post an off topic post, especially when they aren't even a mod here?

On topic, Steelix has god like D, I like Def EVs on it, somewhat. So there, I've made my post on topic...

Kholdstaire November 24th, 2004 10:42 PM

And if you want to say that there are 13 year olds here, they won't take offense unless they know what it is, and if I know 13 year olds, they will think its funny. And if they dont know what it is, how can they take offense?

Anyway, Skarm>Steelix =x

Shuckle November 25th, 2004 4:28 AM

Magneton > Skarm > Steelix

Steel and Electric. ;D

Mana Lugia November 25th, 2004 8:11 AM

Dugtrio > Magneton > Skarm > Steelix < Dugtrio

So anyways, Khold, basically it's a generally bad idea to say stuff like that cuz the older members knows what you are saying and it might corrupt younger people to say that as well, thinking it's perfectly fine.

Shuckle November 25th, 2004 8:26 AM

imhob Steelix > Dugtrio < Skarm :P
