Your signature type?

If you had to make A team with all pokemon sharing one common element what do you use?

I personaly use water because Its simply so diverse. If I tried I could probably name a water pokemon with every other sub element except fire!

Though ironicly my very first pokemon was fire and I love the fire element... but its just not as diverse and has more common weaknesses like the ever powerfull earthquake, surf ect...

Water can easily block out its 2 weaknesses with sub elements like

swampert, gastrodon, quagsire, whiscash (and launtern if its got volt absorb) can all negate electric.

Most water pokemon can learn ice beam which negates grass aswell as some sub elements like flying or dragon.

Zaroas August 18th, 2010 4:12 PM

Steel, because it's sturdy yet strong. Some Pokemon, like Forretress and Skarmory and very good defense wise while Pokemon like Scizor can be extremely powerful. It can be very diverse like water, as well as unpredictable.
Ironically, my first non-starter Pokemon, Magnemite, is steel type.

Timbjerr August 19th, 2010 1:52 AM

Poison because of their show and tactical battle strategy. :D

Toxic everything in your path, perhaps flamethrower'ing the occasional steel-type, and it's only a matter of stalling until you win. :P

Mirby August 19th, 2010 1:56 AM

This one is a toughie... I'd have to say...

I can't pick one. I choose a whole team that I can swap out at will to take on any type! D:

MonsteR. August 19th, 2010 2:00 AM

Water. Dont know why but i have always liked water over everything else, even though its usually the last type i add to my party.

Cohacq August 19th, 2010 4:04 AM

Fire, as I have always loved that type for it pure strenght.

Also, Psychic for that same reason (being introduced to pokemon through the first movie kinda made an impression regarding the psychic type :P)

Agent Clank August 19th, 2010 9:44 AM

Eletric.
Because I'm always suprisingly good with them and I seem to always pull through.

Aether★ August 19th, 2010 9:50 AM

F-F-F-F-F-FIRE! I love to burn everything I can in the game. It's quite powerful type. Psychic is my second signature type and Electric is the third.

Legobricks August 19th, 2010 9:55 AM

Grass... now shame there are no grass+flying Pokemon (none I've seen anyway) since I tend to use birds. Put you to sleep, leech seed you, poison, stun; the monsters themselves aren't often particularly strong but you can in a way just sit back and wait for your enemy to whittle away, plus they tend to have healing moves like Synthesis and XXXXdrain.

Jumpluff and Tropius.

and my signature type is probably steel or bug.

okjoek August 19th, 2010 11:10 AM

Yea, how can you forget tropius and jumpluff?

fire sadly has too many obvious weaknesses like the ever common earthquake and how water pokemon outnumber fire pokemon in the pokedex overall.

I still manage to make it sucessfull through a number of tricks like will-o-wisping and putting a grass sunny day/solar beamer into the team aswell as a poison pokemon that can use flamethrower.

Weavile05 August 19th, 2010 12:47 PM

Fire and Fighting are kinda tied. Fire types are my Favorite Starters (except for Feraligatr) and Blaziken and Infernape are my Favorite Starters overall. Plus Magmortar and Lucario are some of my other favorite Pokemon. After that, I would have to say... Flying.

Legobricks August 19th, 2010 12:55 PM

Jumpluff... I dunno actually.
Tropius, I don't like it much and barely ever see it. I've only ever seen one trainer with one... :/

Still, neither of them are birdlike.

TokioHumaNeko August 19th, 2010 1:03 PM

Fire,Dark,Poison,and Psychic for me.

Seviper,Ekans,Arbok,Umbreon,Houndoom,any of those.

Usagirainbow August 19th, 2010 1:16 PM

Tied between Dark and Ghost for me (...so obvious >.> ) at first I was more of a Water user but after 3rd gen. I dunno..everything shifted for me xD (maybe because it was the first time i didn't use water as a starter?) though lately i've been leaning more towards Ghost...

The Red Chain August 19th, 2010 1:35 PM

I would have to say Psychic.
I'm very fond of all the psychic type Pokemon. They are very fun to use~
I already have a mono-type team I'm working on.. currently consisting of Metagross, Espeon and Girafarig.

Before you say anything, Girafarig is fun for Baton Passing. It's not totally useless. D':
I'm liking the idea of using Jumpluff and Roserade together more and more though lately..
Maybe I'll give Grass a try sometime. :D

Kelp August 20th, 2010 7:16 AM

I'd use Ghost, then stock up my team with pokemon like Spiritomb and Sableye, with no weaknesses. >=D

Sydian August 20th, 2010 9:48 AM

How about normal types? :) They're, imo, the most diverse of any type, seeing that they can learn a ton of TMs, even though it's weird seeing a Furret with Flamethrower, Zigzagoon with Surf, and Persian with Shadow Ball. Oh, and let's not forget that normal types include the ~fabulous~ Smeargle. ;) But I can find a way to work with any type, really. I love diversity among teams and movesets.

dragoniteuser August 20th, 2010 9:52 AM

Dragons... you can't go wrong with them!

littlekid137 August 20th, 2010 10:46 AM

I'd go Dark.

When dark was released in G2 it took me forever to figure out a weakness vs Karen in the E4 (Houndoom, murkrow).

Master Of Electric Raichu August 20th, 2010 11:01 AM

ELECTRIC!!!!!!! seriously i only use electric types ever since cystal i thought the other types were lame but the ground type gens are HARD!!! i use dig with my raichu thats the only way i win and bite with luxray i like electric types because i like sp atk and atk and speed

Amore August 20th, 2010 12:05 PM

Steel, and Dragon, hence Dialga is my signature legendary :D

Silhouette August 20th, 2010 1:13 PM

Oh man, this is going to be tough. For me, it's either electric or steel. I can't decide amongst the two!

Steel has awesome designs, like Aggron, Steelix, Metagross, Empoleon, Jirachi. . . I would probably list all of the steel types, here. But, along with them, the Electric type has some cool designs, too, like Luxray, Ampharos, Electivire. . .

I'm in a dilemma here. :(

Alamos August 20th, 2010 1:21 PM

Have to go with electric on this one. Steel for second place though.

dragon0fangz August 20th, 2010 2:31 PM

i decided im going to be the bug type after all, since no one else is, and i love all of the bug types designs. some of the steel, i can frown at (Magnezone, Probopass, Empoleon, and a few others)

Nurse Barbra August 20th, 2010 3:41 PM

Well Fire/Fighting/Psychic/Ice are whats mainly in my team.
(Blaziken with Blaze kick and Brick break, Mamoswine with Ice moves and earthquake, Poliwrath with Brick break and Hypnosis,Gardevoir with psychic)

Sweet Candace August 20th, 2010 3:48 PM

Electric types have always been my fave. Water and Dragon come right behind Electric, but those 3 are my 3 favorite types.

But, to stop babbling and get straight to the point, my signature type is Electric.

Lati-Fan95 August 21st, 2010 4:14 AM

My favorite type? That's easy... Psychic!^^ I love how you can teach them almost everything and their powers are awesome, too!^^ And my two all-time favorites are in that group, too!^^ Oh, and it's also because since I played Pokemon, I've always loved the move Psychic!^^

Impo August 21st, 2010 5:44 AM

normal and psychic :D
people always underestimate normals, but they are actually pretty good
type-wise ;)

chickenofunity August 21st, 2010 9:35 AM

Water has always been my favourite type. The fact that there are so many water pokemon also helps.
Most of my favourite pokemon though are of normal type. However, I'd have to say Water overall, just cus it's water. :)

tente2 August 21st, 2010 10:03 AM

Grrr.....

Eh, that's a tough one. Ice, Bug, and Ghost will always be my three favorite types... but if I had to choose, I would say I like Ice the least of the three, and I have no idea whether I like Bug more or Ghost more. However, I will say that I've only recently (generation-wise, I've loved ghost types for a long time) started liking Ghost-types. I started liking them at generation 3, because misdreavus and the ghastly line didn't cut it for me. Generation 4 is when the became my absolute faves; Mismagius, Drifblim, Dusknoir, Spiritomb,
all genius.

And with that, I think I'll say Bugs are my favorites purely for their divine cuteness.

Enigma August 21st, 2010 12:55 PM

I'd be able to use an entire team of dark types. :3 Absol, Houndoom, Mightyena, etc, are all dark types, and they are awesome. x3 I I wish there was a dark-fighting type, It'd be immune to Psychic, super-effective against Ghost types (thanks to it's dark-type), double-resistant against other dark types, able to take out ghost-types with a dark-type move (that you can't take out with a fighting-type move), etc.
I'd be sure to include Tyranitar and Honchkrow, in case I wanna go for some 2v2 Earthquaking. Shiftry or Cacturne would be useful, as well as Sharpedo or Crawdaunt, so I can have a Grass/Fire/Water combo on my team. Weavile'd be good for fast sweeping, but Sableye and Spiritomb have no weaknesses. I'd also think about using Darkrai, if I was allowed to use ubers.

Alex Dee Bestest August 21st, 2010 1:44 PM

Honestly, even though I am a Pika-Addict, I love Psychics. Pikachu is one of my favorites only because of its form. I'm not really a big fan of Electrics. Well, when it's time to pick a starter, I always pick water, but if there were Psychic starters, I would totally pick them ALL!

Brendino August 22nd, 2010 12:41 AM

My signature type is Normal, just because of the diversity that it has. There are about 50 different Normal type Pokemon, and about 30 other Normal/xx Pokemon, and most of these Pokemon can learn a large variety of moves. The only trouble I usually have is when I'm facing a Ghost type, but that's why it's convenient that Normal types can learn many different moves.

DraconicDino August 22nd, 2010 4:09 PM

Urgh. That's hard. Psychics are cool, Ghost-types tend to be awesome, Steel-type Pokemon almost always look cool, and a ton of other types and traits I could list... I'd have to say Dragon or Grass, though. I always have liked the Grass type for some reason, and I'm obsessed with dragons. 8D I guess what I need is a Grass/Dragon-type...

Morgnarok August 22nd, 2010 4:22 PM

I never have ever relied on one type ive always tried to have all 3 starters, but if i did i would go with fire or dragon.

Echidna August 26th, 2010 7:14 AM

i would definately build my team from the dragon type seeing that only two types are strong against it and they usually have the best stats and knowing that the fire, ater, electric, grass types are not very effective and the dragon type pokemon can learn like 75% of all moves and thay look better than any other pokemon and they are the most rare pokemon out there seeing that there are only 19 of them, which is very small compared to other types. and 6 f the 19 are legendary. WOW!!!!

Red Mustang August 26th, 2010 8:23 AM

Fire or Electric(:

That'd be a cool type combo.

okjoek August 26th, 2010 6:37 PM

I made a lance copycat team cuz hes my fav dragon trainer.

against my brothers it works well, aerodactyl starts out with stealth rock

heres the team:

dragonite
kingdra
salamence
gyarados
areodactyl
charizard

Instead of putting 2 dragonair/dragonite I put kingdra for more ice resistance and salamence for pwnage.

Ho-Oh September 7th, 2010 5:58 AM

Probably flying, although fire is my favourite. I dunno, I always need to have a flying type in my team for some reason, which I grind to higher levels for no reason at all. :D So, if I had a whole team, flying, defs. XD;

Ficher September 7th, 2010 9:43 AM

I always have a flying, fire, and dark Pokémon in my party.

GlitchCity September 7th, 2010 12:31 PM

Flying and dragon moves. Practically my entire team knows Outrage (one of my favorite moves) and I was able to get brave bird for my Pidgeot, I just wish that they would give Pidgeot a dragon move besides Twister......

Exactly like me. I choose other types to make it more fun but water is my favorite.

Meadow September 7th, 2010 3:23 PM

Grass, because I love every grass starter out there, and they have nice moves, too.

solarowl September 7th, 2010 3:43 PM

hard one... maybe flying, dragon, steel, fire, water, and ghost. reasons:

flying: ive always liked flying types for being cool and birds are awesome
dragon: they have good resistances, most dragons have great stats, and that they know a variety of moves besides dragon
steel: steel, like dragon, has good defense and good resistances, Magnezone and others have levitate, which gets rid of ground attacks, and some steel types can be fast and can hit hard
fire: Fire types sometimes have great special attack or attack which is what i use the most
water: i like water types because they have some good stats and squirtle was my first starter. oh and, i liek mudkipz
ghost; well whats not too like about them? theyre cool! But sometimes theyre not that great battle wise

overall id say around the steel dragon flying types.

PlatinumDude September 7th, 2010 4:29 PM

Water and Fighting types. They provide good coverage (but not together at the same time).

rockets>u September 7th, 2010 4:57 PM

Fire and flying.

My team always end up being Charizard, Pidgeot, Arcanine, Ninetales, Moltres and Entei in every game.

Too bad there is this thing called Stealth Rock, but I don't play Gen IV, so all good :)

Gardenia101 September 7th, 2010 6:38 PM

Grass type. I can make them star! ;D

Weavile05 September 7th, 2010 7:04 PM

It used to be Fire and Fighting, since they were my fav types, but now, since I started an Ultimate Monotype challenge, I've gained a newfound respect for Normal Types. They are awesome!

Devil Flamingo September 7th, 2010 8:04 PM

Definitely Grass, I always have to have one in my team OR ELSE. :D

Pandesal September 8th, 2010 4:58 AM

Eh, I tend to try and mix up my teams (in terms of what types I use) when I play through a game. Though if I had to choose, even though my favourite is Electric, I'd say Normal type due to their diversity.

Aquacorde September 8th, 2010 5:23 AM

I try to mix up my teams, but unless I have 5 eeveelutions and a flyer, I usually end up with three or four water-types.
