Weezing

How should I use my Weezing? I was thinking of this moveset with his high attack.

Adamant Nature, Shell Bell

Shadow Ball
Sludge Bomb
Return
Explosion

Is this fine? Or is there a better use for Weezing?

Deaths Jaws November 20th, 2004 6:01 PM

ive always thought that Will-O-Wisp is great on him personally but tht set looks ok to me.

if u want to use Will-O-Wisp replace Return with it and you sould be on good ground

HellishHades November 20th, 2004 6:35 PM

Max 306 Attack isn't that great in my opinion.

I like:

Weezing @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 58 HP / 252 Def / 200 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Will-O-Wisp
- Sludge Bomb
- Pain Split
- Haze

Few HP EVs make Pain Split work much better.

Frostweaver November 20th, 2004 6:52 PM

Weezing just HAVE TO HAVE will o wisp... I tried one without it, and suddenly it loses its major tanking power =/ Being weak to no physical attacks at all with resistancy towards earthquake is great, but then why don't I just use Donphan then... Weezing is a powerful tank, because after one round, your attack drops by half. If you're physical attacking with Weezing, I'll also recommand dropping return for will o wisp as well.

Mullet November 20th, 2004 7:18 PM

So what should a Weezing have on it.

So if you use Will-O-Wisp then your Pokemons attack is lowered?

I thought you would know burns put down attack!

kirby00 November 21st, 2004 12:45 AM

how does pain split work? i never really got that... maybe exploision could be replaced, but then again maybe it shouldn't. if u r gnna take urself out, u may as well gaurentee it, why not use destiny bond instea of explosion. now things like ghost types, and damp cant stop u... and its guaranteed.

Toothache November 21st, 2004 12:58 AM

Problem with Destiny Bond is, if you're slower, like you are against a lot of attackers with Weezing, you won't get the Bond in time, so it's a waste of a slot. Explosion works, but since Weezing makes for a nice tank, it's better to keep him alive.

As for Pain Split, how it works is you add up your opponent's and your current HP, then split the total between them. Say you have 200 HP, and you're facing a Blissey with 600 HP. Using Pain Split, you get a total of 800 HP, so you each get 400 HP. With that, you've healed up to full health, and Blissey has taken 1/3 damage. Pain Split Weezing is fun, I've tried it out, and it's helped me take down Blissey, and Sublax is another fun one to beat.

What about bond with salac berry (that's the speed one right?)?

Toothache November 21st, 2004 1:42 AM

With full speed EV, you have a normal speed of 219, with Salac it increases 329. Faster than most, but not fast enough to beat the super-fast Pokemon (anything with greater than 100 base speed). Problem with that it severely hurts your tanking, as you're having to divert EVs from Defence or HP to max out the speed. Not worth the effort in my opinion, although it would be a nice surprise for some unwary trainers.

Composer of Requiems November 21st, 2004 7:07 AM

Haha... but, most people won't be expecting that from a Wheezing, would they? XD too risky I guess.

Never crossed my mind, I had heard that but just wasn't too sure! :\

Weezing is perfectly fine at using Destiny Bond, if you want to use it. You just need a bit more skill to know when to use it ahead of time... Instead of using it the turn you're about to die like with Gengar, you now use it the turn before you're about to die. The opponent will either have to switch out to destroy the bond, to just suicide with your Weezing, or use other methods to destroy you regardless of the bond (leech seed/rock blast/etc).

Destiny bond does encourage switches if used right, and it can be pseudopyroshuffle. Works quite well if teamed up with wish at the right time with skills.

lizardman November 21st, 2004 1:45 PM

my opinion is that u should use slow damage moves and moves that KO's u and your openent.if i had a weezing here is what moves i would have.

shadowball/sludgebomb
will-o-wisp/toxic
explosion
sludge/facade

thats what moves i would have if i had a weezing.

Arch Enemy November 21st, 2004 3:43 PM

I see! Weezing has only Psychic as weakness due to Levitate, and Will-o-Wisp from egg will help his high defense be annoying towards enemies. What other moves should a tank Weezing have? I guess Sludge Bomb since he will need a damage attack, but I am unsure.

I have not heard of EVs, I will look on this site to find them.

That site has a lot of stat-based information. It's all in German and English -- German mostly, so you may find that helpful in the explanantion of EVs.

wut bout rock, i thought poison was weak 2 rock... and wut if u face a steel type? sludgebomb doesnt work, an it doesnt have ne se moves

Arch Enemy November 22nd, 2004 5:18 PM

Thank you HellishHades!

kirby00, I use Sludge Bomb for the bonus damage of using a move of the same type as the pokemon. Also, poison is not weak to rock, and against a Steel type, anyone would switch out Weezing whatever moves he has.

Shuckle November 23rd, 2004 10:45 AM

Weezing. Should. Be. Hazer. IMHO.

Weezing @ Lefties

Sludge Bomb
Will-o-Wisp
Haze
Explosion

This is why T-Bolt and Flamethrower are your friends. Skarmory says HIE to T-Bolt =] And Fudge Bomb is poop on Weezing =[

kirby00 November 23rd, 2004 3:35 PM

wut is m00b? how bout using psywave? it can do 100-150 damage always if weezing is lvl 100. also it learns it as koffing...

The minimum damage value is not 100.

Mana Lugia November 23rd, 2004 9:22 PM

Psywave actually does from 1-150 dmg when you're Lv 100, go figure O_O

Toothache November 23rd, 2004 9:40 PM

m00b => b00m => Explosion.

As for Psywave, it's a highly unreliable fixed-damage move. If you hit 2 x 150 HP attacks though, it's a threat to many Pokemon, and lethal to some. Adds a little variety to Butterfree's moveset, if used right (but gets screwed by Dark types, along with Butterfree's normal enemies, and Houndoom totally owns Butterfree anyway, especially Early Bird Houndoom.)
