What age group do you think pokemon black/white are aimed at?

well, yeah, pokemon has always been aimed at like the 10 year old age group (not saying that older people don't play it, just that the games were...made to be playable by that age group?)

but... black and white are probably going to have an even more advanced plot (the games keep getting more advanced every generation), and the protagonist is said to be older than before. so this probably means that they're aiming the games now at a bit older of an age.

you think this is true? what age group do you think the games will be aimed at?

Poeman August 21st, 2010 10:53 AM

It's aimed at kids around 6-10

Honest August 21st, 2010 10:55 AM

Well, it all the past ones were rated E for everyone, but I doubt that they'd rate B/W E10+ or T. But to an exact age, probably ages 8 and up. That's my guess.

abood321 August 21st, 2010 10:56 AM

like any pokemon game all ages group.

coolnick37 August 21st, 2010 2:03 PM

since pokemon still has a lot of fans that were playing pokemon r/b/g/y i gues they will be trying to please the older fans too but still keep the young new fans hooked on, so they obviously aim at 8-16 yo

Logiedan August 21st, 2010 2:06 PM

I don't see why they would change it. There are many fans of Pokémon that vary in age, that's why there is a Junior and senior competition for the Pokémon VGC.

King Gumball August 21st, 2010 2:12 PM

I always thought that pokemon was aimed at like 8-15 or 16. I don't think it will be specifically aimed anyone 16+.

Bloo August 21st, 2010 2:12 PM

All ages. In Japan, everyone play video games, so this is supposed to be widespread

unbeatible pokemaniac August 21st, 2010 2:34 PM

im gessing 11-20... but my brother is 25 and he still lovess playing leafgreen and his saphire so its mostly set for Everyone

orange discontent August 21st, 2010 2:41 PM

All ages, obviously. BW is an attempt to attract older/former players while still drawing in new players.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire August 21st, 2010 2:42 PM

Everyone still, besides some kids play rated T games...and some play teenagers play pokemon still :)

dieter57 August 21st, 2010 2:44 PM

I think this hen is ment to still attract the older fans and still speak to newer ones

well that's what I'm saying. the older fans. I'm thinking the games will have a bit more advanced stuff to appeal to the old fans, who are now about 15 years older. obviously the games still have to be playable by around 10 year olds, but I think the games will also have things that keep the game fun for the older players

Ho-Oh August 21st, 2010 7:12 PM

Guys, try to not give one liner answers (well, too general ones - like all ages), because I know this thread was intended to be a discussion regarding the demographic, not just what you think based on the past of Pokemon. I guess, state why you think so.

For me, personally, I think it is aimed at both the younger and older fans - HG/SS attracted the older ones, and now with a new start, B/W is aiming to attract the younger kids, as well as the ones who've grown up with Pokemon - or might've gotten back into it due to HG/SS, which is represented by the older characters.

Logiedan August 21st, 2010 7:35 PM

I don't know if it will attract older fans after pre-released information on the games recieved some comments, especially on how horrid the designs of the new Pokémon look like. Some fans got disappointed especially because of the new Pokémon. Still, i'm on the idea of it being released and available for all ages because that's how Pokémon has been all this time. Though in reality you still need to know how to read to play..

o0PinkSquid0o August 21st, 2010 7:45 PM

I'd say pokemon is aimed more at the older kids than the younger ones.
well its aimed at everyone but little kids don't know anything about EV's IV's or competitive battles

Xander Olivieri August 21st, 2010 7:59 PM

From the look, it still seems to be generated towards the younger crowd, even with the given "maturer" outlook, but system wise, the new battle systems seem to be aimed more towards the older members. The new systems require a more in depth look at competative battles as well as a certain level of thinking for battle combinations.

Does it even really matter what age group it's aimed at?

Nope. XD The only thing that matters is that people buy the game, enjoy it, and keep the pokemon franchise alive by buying future games.

Kenshin5 August 21st, 2010 8:23 PM

I think it is aimmed at any age group that has money. All generally it seems it would be aimed at children like 6-13 but the older players that played the former games will be attracted as well. Btw topic creator you spelled "Black" wrong.

This is what I'm thinking, they only care for the money...

dragon0fangz August 21st, 2010 8:41 PM

im thinking anybody from ages 3-114 will play it. XD

MistahDude August 21st, 2010 8:44 PM

Anyone that can read and think. They dont really care all too much. They throw stuff in there for little kids and older people.

Although all of this is somewhat on-topic, can you try to limit posts that possibly draw the conversation away from the original intention? Thanks.

I don't think we really when off topic with those first ones seeing as we are talking about the age they are appealing for, I don't really think they are aiming at any real age group other than kids, the rest is extra for them...at least that's what I think...

Agent Clank August 22nd, 2010 6:17 AM

I think its aimed at anyone and everyone, like always.

Kirbychu August 22nd, 2010 7:19 AM

Pokemon has always been aimed mainly at 6-12 year-olds, but this one looks like it will attempt to grab some more teenagers as well. Then again, the more "advanced" plot could be nothing more but a bonus for the older players.

Volroc August 22nd, 2010 9:41 AM

why you gotta be a certain to play pokemon? :/ seems rather stupid IMO

austy14 August 22nd, 2010 6:24 PM

I think with the older player characters they're letting you know it's ok to play pokemon when you're older than 10 that you aren't some dork playing a kids video game. But a true pokemon fan wouldn't care :)
