But judging by that head PxP showed of Yinappu's evolution (which looks legit), the monkeys are gonna have crazy hairstyles or something. I can't remember which one, but he also stated that either Hiyappu or Baoppu will have dread locks. <333 And this does seem likely considering Sigimori and his.... "buddies" talked about how they evaluated peoples' hairstyles when it came to designing the Pokemon. Afro Buffalo, anyone? :B

Hahaha, the Afro Buffalo is so cool. By looking at the current Monkeys and their hair styles, it's safe to say they'll indeed have some pretty wicked stuff going on.

As for the starters, I'm honestly not that disappointed in their designs, though they could have been cooler... but it's really just Pokabu's typing that ticked me off. :(

Like if you raise all three to level 30 and have them all in your party, all three of them will evolve into one combined EPIC grass/water/fire monkey. Triple Typing would be cool.
Anybody else agree?

Notice all of their tails.
Baoppu has 1 part.
Yanuppu has 2 parts
Hiyappu has 3 parts.

I also agree the other two should have markings on their heads

I think that the "Three Typings" would be...well, it's just not happening...

I saw this earlier on but never gave my comments on it. Reading the description for the Yanappu evolution, it fits the title; the Elvis forelock, arrogant pose and simply more larger and a little more furrier than Yanappu. I'm thrilled to see the official design though, seeing as that one is just supposed to look similar to the real one.

Notice how the mouth is still open which represents "Speak No Evil". Considering that, Baoppu's and Hiyappu's evolutions may as well have and keep a pose action of "See No Evil and Hear No Evil". This time I question how different the pose will be but I expect it to be similar, since Yanappu has its arms spread out just the way the above evolution for it does too. Then again, this isn't the actual art so all I just said could turn out completely wrong. XD;

Haza September 12th, 2010 9:44 AM

I think it was lame of them to release Yanappu alone at first and then release the other two a month later... lame.

The Doctor September 12th, 2010 9:47 AM

They wanted to give us a taste of one monkey ( ironic, the brocolli one ) before they released the full one

Boarbeque September 12th, 2010 10:06 AM

The fourth monkey in the Wise Monkeys is known as Do No Evil, but I doubt they would make one to fit that.

Something that learns no attack moves but has a very special Array of defensive and healing moves?

Devil Flamingo September 12th, 2010 12:39 PM

Eh, I don't really like monkeys, and these three are no exception, and neither are their evos. And the fact that they're pure-types is just even more off-putting, because it's boring and uninteresting. I love Grass types, but Yanuppu and his evo are just gonna be another useless pure Grass type who's outclassed by pretty much anything that's got a more useful or better or interesting typing (Roserade, Breloom, Torterra, Abomasnow) or else by Sceptile and Tangrowth, the only pure Grass types that matter and could ever become OU (but aren't), seriously (the rest are extras imo).

1. We don't know Yanappu's evolutions type.
2. We don't know their stats.

So I am curious on how you already came to the conclusion that they are bad.

1. Yes we do; it was leaked with that list or what-have-you going around (from pokebeach.com or something), and it lists all their evos as pure types.

2. Stats will make little difference; Tangrowth and Sceptile have as good stats as a Grass type could hope for, and they are still UU, not OU.

And I have made no such conclusion; Tangrowth, Sceptile and Meganium aren't "bad" because they're pure Grass or because they're UU instead of OU. I am simply stating that as far as I'm concerned, Yanappu and his evo are just going to be another pure Grass type with decent/good stats that, while a bit of a novelty as far as pure Grassers go, won't be anything to write home about as far as competitive battling goes. I am perhaps being slightly too cynical about this, but as someone who's pretty much trained every Grass type under the Sun of the Pokemon World, it's hard to be excited about a broccoli-esque monkey with same old boring pure Grass typing. *shrug* Perhaps as far as pure Grass Pokemon go, Yanappu and his evolution will be the cream of the crop, but I wish GF had been more creative than this.

All this pure Grass (Smugleaf line, Yanappu line, Churine line, Monmen line, etc.) running around in Isshu is unnecessary, imo.

That would be so totally cool. Would make for a cool baton-passer I imagine.

I think these 3 Monkeys have a brief Role to play.

The only role I believe they'll play is to simply correspond to the trainer you battle... Which is very brief lol.

solarowl September 12th, 2010 4:32 PM

They aren't that bad! They're kind of cute. ANd for all you know, Yannapu's evolutions could be the strongest pure grass type yet!

I'm concerned about the Gym leader styled battle. The VS. banner.

Well each of them have their own VS picture as you can see in the scan above. ^^;

Watch these monkeys be extremely hard to find in B&W. D:
I will be very sad if that happens.. ;-;

CZbwoi September 12th, 2010 7:15 PM

I'll LOL if the monkey's are version exclusive.

Blue one in Black.
Red one in White.
Green one 2 years later in the 3rd game.:cheeky:

solarowl September 12th, 2010 8:39 PM

Not many pokemon actually have roles really mostly legends. These guys are probably just the gym leaders and then a fe wroutes later catchable.

teh_great_saiyaman_is_now_a_trainer September 12th, 2010 8:41 PM

maybe they will be like the eevee brothers

eevee brothers? you mean like evolving by stones? Maybe since there is a stone for every one of those. FOr some reason, I want them to have three evolutions and their second requires their type stone to evolve into the last evolution.

I'm guessing they'll each be in their own special part of the region. Like : Yanapu in a Forest
Fire one(forgot name): Volcano
Water one(forgot again XD): Marshy area

Hopefully they aren't as difficult to find like Aipom in the Honey Trees. D; Even though it'll be a bit of a challenge, some people actually like challenges, even if it as small as catching an uncommon pokémon.

It seems likely that they would be uncommon or rare since as you said, there is three of them. However we could be wrong and they would be common for a change.

Keep in mind that the picture shown isn't the official artwork although similar. You might have a change of opinion when you see the official design. ;)

We actually do know their types in their evolved forms. According to Pokexperto all of the monkeys evolve once and are still pure typed.
