Yeah I can see them in those areas too, though maybe the water one in a pond with it playing around :)

Well, I actually really like the idea of a 'trio' of Monkeys.
I think my favourite so far is Grass type! Broccoli omnomnom. :D

You get Boappu/Yanappu/Hiyappu at Level 10 at the Abandoned Lot of Dreams.
According to Serebii, this is how you get them. Lovely. Sounds like an awesome place to get them though...

Aloetakura September 16th, 2010 12:04 AM

I like Pokémon like the legendary birds/dogs/eeveelutions and now the monkey trio who are similar but with different typing. I think it's because I like symmetry ^^ It's a bit weird to have just one of them on a team though. I never wanted to use Minun/Plusle for example, since one felt weird without the other. Maybe that's just me ^^

Someone got the Water Monkey...

Water monkey's evolution has been confirmed on Serebii. And I really don't like it... Still, the water monkey was my least favourite of the three so I'm not too put out. If they mess up the fire monkey's evolution...

The water monkey was the best for me. Now it's extremely ugly. ;_; Noooo! T_T

King Gumball September 16th, 2010 2:51 AM

It looks like some native girl...

It is okay I guess but I was hoping for something better.

Surmonter September 16th, 2010 2:55 AM

I don't think the water monkey's evolution is that bad. o.o

Let's just hope the fire evolution is better (since we already know-ish the grass one)

Zelda September 16th, 2010 3:08 AM

Hiyappu sure does look like a female. Kind of reminds me of an amazon/jungle girl; the position of its pose and the look itself gives me that feeling. I expected something entirely different although I'm not sure what. Hiyappu was my favorite out of the three, but now I'll wait to see how the other two come out first to decide on that. This was a quite unexpected design and caught me way off guard. o_o;;

Aloetakura September 16th, 2010 3:16 AM

Oh noes, the water monkey evo is.... horrible. It looks kinda like Jynx :s

Hiyappu_Storm September 16th, 2010 3:20 AM

No! I checked out Hiyappu's evolution and it looks like a girl! Hopefully it evolves again into a better pokemon, and the only reason I prefer this one is because Yanappu is grass type, and I never found them as useful as fire or water types and Boappu looks like Chimchar, who I didn't like.

According to every bit of info that has been leaked that I'm aware of, the monkeys only evolve once each. That's the final form for Hiyappu by all accounts...

Yeah I think it's ok too. Not as good as the basic form in my view, but it's not bad. If the Grass monkey evolution turns out as predicted it'll probably be my favourite of the three, even if I don't find Grass-types very useful in general.

The Red Chain September 16th, 2010 9:46 AM

Well now my favorite evolution out of the monkeys is Yanappu's. Hiyappu's is too feminine for my tastes, and Baoppu's has a funny looking sprite.. dunno what it is, but I'm not digging it. XD

Just in case some of you haven't seen Yanappu or Hiyappu's evolutions, here they are :

Courtesy of Serebii.com

Yanappu's evolution is so awesome! <3 I wonder if perhaps Hiyappu's evolution has gender differences.. but there is no screenshot about Serebii's being female [or whoever the image belongs to].. so I'm not sure.

Zelda September 16th, 2010 4:45 PM

Yanakki, Yanappu's evolution is looking a lot better than the other two in my opinion. Baokkii and Hiyakki look as if they were done in just a couple days or wasn't looked after much. Hiyakki looks really feminine; I would've expected a more fierce with a cute input for all three of them.

I think Nintendo could have put in more time in designing the three as well as a lot of the other pokémon that we've discovered today. Though I'll admit, taking a look at the new pokémon announced out of these three, they have a decent look seeing as some of the new ones look very overdone. ):

The Red Chain September 16th, 2010 5:46 PM

I just saw this, and I have to rant about it.

Why on earth do all three monkeys have exactly the same base stats? Could they really not put any variation on them at all? I know they are a trio, but even the past gen trios all had varying stats, while keeping the same base stat total and overall design. I know they spent 4 years developing these games and we should accept their hard work, but c'mon. 4 years and you couldn't give a little more difference to this poor trio?

They got pretty effed in base stats too hp/defense wise. Guess that marks Yanappu and it's evolution down on the flimsy grass-type list, which was expected to begin with. Pure Grass types just get no love. Pity, I really expected more out of this trio.. ;_;

Pwnyta Jockey September 16th, 2010 5:55 PM

Other than Grass, these monkeys make me want to watch Treehouse. and I hate that TV channel.

At least the water one looks sort of like a hippy...

Astinus September 16th, 2010 6:39 PM

The water monkey's evolution will take some time to get used to, but I do love the other two. Especially the grass monkey's. Must be the head fur.

But it is weird that they have the same base stats. I would have thought that one at least would be different for each monkey. For shame.

I'm still going to use them on one of my in-game teams.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire September 16th, 2010 6:44 PM

I was surprised by the final form of the water monkey...it kind of looks Feminine compared to the others.

ltsang September 16th, 2010 6:46 PM

What are the 3 new starters in black and white and who is the professor?

Ho-Oh September 16th, 2010 8:00 PM

This question doesn't really belong here - however, the starters are Pokabu, Mijumaru and Tsutaaja, while the professor is Aragari. Next time, ask in the starter thread? :)

Pochama95 September 16th, 2010 9:30 PM

Yanakki is the best monkey of the trio I knew I'd like Yanappu the best. the fire one looks lazy and the water one got ruined since the evo came out, too bad I liked the water one 2nd but now I just hated both the water and fire monkey.
