I got both games for my birthday years ago but I always had a preference for Pokémon Gold. Ho-oh was my favourite Mascot of that series. I got HeartGold for that very reason. :P

I prefer Gold, I really like the concept of Ho-oh, thats not to say Lugia isnt awsome because I think he is, but I prefer Ho-oh and spend most of my time in Ecruteak because its buildings remind me of the temple I used to visit as a kid. Though in reality both games are so alike it doesnt really matter to me.

Sewzie September 1st, 2010 6:48 AM

Gold.
idk why, probably because I played it first and just got used to it. Somehow, when I played Silver, the "feel" was different.

Nathaniel. September 1st, 2010 1:08 PM

I prefer Silver, because I like Lugia much better.

monsutafangs September 1st, 2010 2:48 PM

Gold. I liked the sprites better ;D! Though, I got Soul Silver this time around

Noka September 7th, 2010 3:17 PM

Definitely Silver...mostly 'cause I liked Lugia at the time, and didn't know about Ho-Oh. Even though I do know about Ho-Oh now...I still like Lugia more.

Stellar September 7th, 2010 8:56 PM

Silver. <3
I almost always buy the games based on which color or stone is prettiest, which worked out in the case of G/S because Lugia >>>>> Ho-oh.

I felt the same when I got Gold. The two games might as well be one, but somehow Silver just felt better.

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ September 8th, 2010 6:04 AM

Silver because of Lugia and the better version exclusives. Also IMO a greater number of the sprites looked better in Silver than in Gold.

Sparkling Ruby September 8th, 2010 7:12 AM

I prefer Silver simply because I like Lugia best. xD

Skaterzpenguin September 8th, 2010 3:49 PM

I started out with Gold and its been always my main game to focus on. Same goes for HG since it makes sence from my past.

Limey-chan September 8th, 2010 4:01 PM

I chose Gold initially, but I think I prefer Silver purely for the selection of version-exclusive Pokemon available.

ChrisTom September 8th, 2010 4:57 PM

Gold. Only because it was my first Gen II game. Also because I'm Autumn! :P

jujuju September 13th, 2010 1:56 PM

Silver because it was the third pokemon game I ever played, first of this generation. Although, I like the pokemon in Gold much better. The favoritism of Silver is simply due to nostalgia.

ChaoticArchon September 14th, 2010 3:18 PM

Silver. I don't care too much for the Legendaries.

Skarmory >> Gligar
Donphan = Ursaring
Persian > Primeape
Ninetales < Arcanine

...so Silver wins by a little bit. I love Donphan. STAB Earthquake with 120 Base Attack is a beautiful thing. Also, elephants rock.

Sapeiro September 14th, 2010 3:23 PM

Gold. No doubt about it.

Maybe because that was the first Pokémon game I've ever actually owned (and the only one, if I don't count the R/B/Y Pinball).

Also, Gligar is made of win.
Ho - Oh > Lugia.
Arcanine >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ninetales.

Wings Don't Cry September 14th, 2010 8:07 PM

I got Silver first but I like Gold more since some of the sprites are really bad in Silver, not bad just they look like a completely different Pokemon.

As silver being the first pokemon game I played and beat,
I would have to say Silver.

dragons September 17th, 2010 2:39 AM

i prefer gold alot more, its more fun and i dno just the places u have to go and etc. is more exciting

solarowl September 17th, 2010 11:52 PM

Wait, what...? None of the locations are different in either game...

And for me it has to be Gold, as it was the one I first had, though I admit that Silver's sprites were of better quality for the most part.

Soul Hunter X September 21st, 2010 1:24 AM

Gold, because I want a high level Lugia.

Ho-Oh September 27th, 2010 11:57 PM

Gold.

It was my first game ever and well, the Bell Tower (idk I forgot the name) was awesome and I loved exporing it. I've never played Silver, but I do know that back in the days of the graphical abilities of Game Boy's being limited... that the whirl islands were less appealing than the tower. Plus, that tower is one of my memories as a child or something, idk. As for their remakes, Silver's animation for the islands wins over the tower, so yeah.

WinterSong October 24th, 2010 7:33 PM

Silver. I always prefer silver anything over gold because, to me, gold feels like fake or wannabe.

icycatelf October 26th, 2010 4:44 PM

Silver, but mostly because it was the very first Pokemon game I ever got (next to 1 or 2 N64 games). I also like it because a lot of the sprites look better (expecially Celebi which can be obtained via Celebi Egg Trick which I only recently learned about) and because my favorite Pokemon (Ho-Oh) is the highest-level Pokemon in the game. But mostly because it was my first game. *nods*
