Amore how about I start a new topic for us to talk about?
What's your favourite dragon type Move, and why?

tkallab October 20th, 2010 11:25 AM

When it comes to originality, Dragonbreath. It reminds you of a dragon's ability to breathe fire, but it's really a Dragon move. If you ask me, this should have been the strongest Dragon move.
The move I use mostly is Dragon Dance. It's my Feraligatr's key move, that will allow him to sweep in an awesome fashion once I finish my Shoddy Battle Pokémon Lab team.
In-game, it's Dragon Claw. Good base power, perfect accuracy and reasonable PP make this move perfect for in-game sweeping.

Amore October 20th, 2010 12:42 PM

Draco Meteor.

Has to be said, that thing has an awesome animation and name. The animation in PBR when my Dialga used Draco Meteor almost tempted me to keep that abomination of a game (as did Hyper Beam coming from Magmortar's cannons).

Also, despite the setback, it's so damn powerful, even Dragonite, whose Special Attack is his worst (or second worst, can't remember) stat, can dent most steel-types with a Draco Meteor.

Finally, the fact that it's exclusive to dragon-types is awesome.

Dooonerz October 20th, 2010 12:48 PM

Same with Amore, it has to be Draco Meteor. It's even funnier when Ash's Gible tries to learn it in the anime. xD

Spinosaurus October 20th, 2010 1:08 PM

What's your favourite dragon type Move, and why?
Dragon Claw. Always loved it, always will.

Time Guardian October 20th, 2010 4:49 PM

Before Dragon Claw came around, it has always been Dragonbreath because of its chance to paralysis. (which has helped on a couple of occasions) Ever since Gen 3, it became Dragon Claw because of the reasons that takllab explained. (Plus it was invaluable during the Battle Mode of Colosseum)

Dragonbreath is still second favorite for those that can't learn Claw and/or for the early part of the game. Although I still have yet to test out Dragon Pulse, which I plan to on my Dialga.

Draco Meteor is ok, but I only find it good as a last-ditch effort to me. But I never used it outside of my Diamond version, and when I'm with my friends, I don't ever have my team ready in my G-4 games to be able to test the move on even ground.

I need to get PBR, though, since then it gives me some use of my soon-to-be team in SS.

Silhouette October 20th, 2010 5:43 PM

What's your favourite dragon type move, and why?

I would say Dragon Pulse. It's just an all around decent move with no real drawback.

dragoniteuser October 21st, 2010 2:01 AM

Well I guess I should answer this topic aswell...
My favourite Dragon type move is: Outrage!
Not for it's power but because it was Dragonite's signature and exclusive move until the 4th gen! Sure it has the confusion drawback, but 99% of your opponents wouldn't last two turns in which Dragonite would get confused!

Dragonite + Outrage = Epic Combo!

tkallab October 21st, 2010 9:00 AM

Did you draw that, draggy?
Outrage is one of the most awesome moves in the games too, but my problem with it is that it might have been Normal as well. I mean, why is it Dragon?
It must actually be the hardest for Nintendo to make Dragon Moves. They're just plain physical attacks with nothing special, but used by dragons.
Because I now feel unnecessarily obliged to share my opinion about all Dragon moves, I'll just do so.

Double Chop (new move): Why is this Dragon and not Fighting?
Draco Meteor: Don't get me wrong, one of the best moves out there, but again, 'why Dragon?'
Dragonbreath: Yes. A great reference to dragons breathing fire, but in its own element, and it has been given a great twist by making it able to paralyze.
Dragon Claw: A Dragon Slash. How can a Slash be Dragon? Dragonized nails..? You get my point. Very practical move though.
Dragon Pulse: I don't get this. Water Pulse is a ring of water shot at the opponent, Dark Pulse some kind of evil wave... But I don't know how to imagine a 'Dragon Pulse'... But also very practical.
Dragon Rage: The very first Dragon move. Awesome early on, but pointless late-game. And again, why Dragon?
Dragon Rush: Why Dragon, and it misses too much.
Dragon Tail (new move): Like a Roar that hurts. But again...
Outrage: Great attack, no one can last against this and the setback is easily curable. But wai dragon?
Roar Of Time: I'd make this Stellar type if it existed. And Hyper Beam variations always suck.
Spacial Rend: Stellar type too. This move would be cool IF IT WEREN'T FOR ITS LOW PP.
Twister: Flying type much?
Dragon Dance: Yesh, the most awesome boosting move for physical sweepers ever.

Oh god I'm so idealistic...

PaxAmericana October 21st, 2010 2:00 PM

I would like to join!

Should Tyranitar be a Dragon?
I feel it should, because it resembles a dragon.

Amore October 22nd, 2010 7:45 AM

Welcome!

But please, replace the second part of your post with something related to the topic of dragon-type moves, before you start them all off again:P...just makes life less voting-oriented, that's all.

You've been added to the member's list.

Btw guys, has the dragon pokemon challenge died? Or just hidden...

Time Guardian October 22nd, 2010 8:32 AM

I've been working on it at a snail's pace, so it's not like it died...at least not to me anyways. I don't have much progress in it at all since I haven't been able to load the game up that much.

dragoniteuser October 22nd, 2010 9:55 AM

Like I said, I lost my mojo...
But when I find it, I'll finish it in two days tops!

tkallab October 22nd, 2010 10:51 AM

Still had no chance to get started... I was going to start today, but Amsterdam's public transportation was really annoying.
I'll start tomorrow!

zapdos926 October 22nd, 2010 8:44 PM

My fav dragon move? It would have to be draco meteor. It's powerful, doesn't missthat often, and it's only drawback is the sp.atk lowerage(? Is that a word?) I will disagree with tkallab on one thing though: what other type of pokemon could summon meteors from the sky? Flying: no, grass: no, psycic: maybe(if it had ninja skills, but only dragons can learn it in game) other wise, I agree about the other moves.

Welcome new ppls.

I would do the dragon race, but I don't feel like restarting my ss (only 46 hours logged, but already cought lugia, ho-oh, mewtwo, zapdos, and suicune) and I might do it on my pearl after I trade all my lv.100's over to ss (Im gonna need to catch alot of unknown)

tkallab October 23rd, 2010 1:49 PM

Still didn't start today, replayin' mah Ace Attorneys and Professor Laytons in celebration of their upcoming collaboration. Maybe tomorrow..?

shininglatios217 October 23rd, 2010 9:49 PM

Topic #1: Maybe I'll start tomorrow the challenge and record it on my computer (my DS is still broken but that's off-topic).

Topic #2: Like most people say, mine's Draco Meteor. Maybe I'm attracted to Hyper Beam-like moves.

Off Topic: I thought I was the only person here that played both games.

tkallab October 23rd, 2010 11:55 PM

I think Draco Meteor is only useful in a pinch. It doesn't have that much PP and it lowers your stats. So it can be like your last resort... Not very useful in-game, to say the least.

And Phoenix Wright vs. Professor Layton is gonna be awesome!

Time Guardian October 24th, 2010 3:31 AM

I never was a fan of the hyper beam-like moves in the game, they were powerful, yes, but in matching against friends/ in stadium, I find myself always getting pummeled while recovering, so it never was reliable enough for me.

Then again, I dislike most 2-turn moves unless one of the turns helps give you some sort of immunity. (I like solarbeam out of the 2-turn moves, though, but only when it's on a Ground. That's besides the point though.)

As for Draco Meteor, I just simply can't find myself using a ton of moves that despite powerful, bring your stats down to near-useless. But that's just me. I'm one to usually stick with ol'reliable then to use a higher power counterpart with a cost.

And yes, PL vs PW is indeed going to be awesome, I can tell that and I still haven't gotten around to playing the PL games as of yet, but I'm a BIG fan of Ace Attorney here. Curse you Capcom, I will force you to stateside this one even if it means having to infiltrate your headquarters.

I once read on Bulbapedia that those "pulses" could be considered types of "auras." Aura Sphere is, well, aura. Water Pulse probably uses aura to make water move. Dark Pulse is an evil aura. Then, we have Dragon Pulse, which is a dragon's special aura.

Silhouette October 24th, 2010 8:29 AM

So I think we need a new topic. Actually, we haven't exactly had a vote in a while.

But for now, which dragons would you consider the most evil and most heroic?

As for what I'd say, I wouldn't consider Giratina evil, because the Pokedex says it was banished for being too violent (or something along those lines). I would consider Tyranitar evil, since it actually has the dark type in it. I think that the Lati's could be the heroic ones, or even Rayquaza.

dragoniteuser October 24th, 2010 8:42 AM

Well I consider Palkia and Dialga evil!
In fact I hate them and I agree that ve should vote(kick them out)!
And most heroic, I'd say Lati's and my beloved Dragonite!

Charizard★ October 24th, 2010 10:07 AM

Evil= Salamance, Dialga, Rayquaza, Palkia, Giratina

Heroic= Dragonite, Latios, Latias.

Amore October 24th, 2010 10:39 AM

I'm afraid I'm having to go with Dragonite as "heroic", after all, look at its' pokedex entries:

"It is said that this Pokémon constantly flies over the immense seas and rescues drowning people."

"It is said to make its home somewhere in the sea. It guides crews of shipwrecks to shore."

Lugia is another:

"It is said that it quietly spends its time deep at the bottom of the sea because its powers are too strong."

"It is said to be the guardian of the seas. It is rumored to have been seen on the night of a storm."

Tyranitar has to be bad, by this:

"Extremely strong, it can change the landscape. It has an insolent nature that makes it not care about others."

Salamence, I don't think is either heroic or evil. I think it's so uncontrollable and violent because it's so extremely happy at finally flying, but can't control its' powers.

Gyarados is like Tyranitar:

"It has an extremely aggressive nature. The Hyper Beam it shoots from its mouth totally incinerates all targets."

"Rarely seen in the wild. Huge and vicious, it is capable of destroying entire cities in a rage."

"It is an extremely vicious and violent Pokémon. When humans begin to fight, it will appear and burn everything to the ground with intensely hot flames."

Although it could be, by the last entry listed above, simply trying to get us all to quit (luckily, Milotic was invented some time, enabling some conflicts to be calmed non-violently. And for all others, there's pokedex holders).

Dooonerz October 24th, 2010 11:19 AM

Heroic Dragons: Lati's, Dragonite, Charizard, and my beautiful Salamence <333

Evil Dragons: Giratina, Gyrados and Aerodactyl
