Second Generation Travel Journal
This thread is for discussion on your fond memories of RBY/GSC and your recent adventures. So for all of those that can't play your old games, this is the place to reminisce on your first Pokemon, getting stuck in your own house, and going for that Mew glitch. And for those of you still duking it out with Brock, Misty, and those nasty Rockets, feel free to talk about your recent adventures and accomplishments.
That reminds me. First time through Silver, I was so mad at myself for accidentally killing Red Gyarados. I've only recently been able to catch it for whatever reason. I was a nubcake. :( |
When I first played R/B/Y and G/S/C I was only just learning to read. So I remember pronouncing the names to towns and Pokemon horribly wrong. The worst part is I used talk to other kids at school about Pokemon and when I mentioned certain items and places in the game they wouldn't know what I was talking about. For example I would pronounce "potion" as "pot-tee-on."
Goodtimes<333 |
I used to think that to turn off the game, you had to hit 'exit' on the start menu. XD And I thought that if you repetitively hit A, it makes the attack stronger. So Thundershock was powered by A taps. :D

Well, the A button does solve a lot of problems. I also didn't read anything. Didn't get past Brock during my first Yellow playthrough, cause I didn't bother to read that Electric moves don't affect ground types.
|
I was like 7 when I played Crystal and I grinded my Machoke to death, and wondered why it wouldn't evolve :P
|
Just restarted my Silver version and decided to keep track of it here. Projected team: Magmar, Tauros, Dodrio, Espeon, Hitmonlee, Quagsire
|
My favourite memory of Pokemon Red was my three legendary birds and how I traded them to Gold and beat the whole game with the three level 100 birds even though they kept hurting themselves.
When the game got corrupted and I got angry and screamed until my dad would buy me a new one. |
My favourite memory of the Pokemon franchise occurred when I was seven or eight, which was around the time I obtained my invaluable Silver version. I was in my friend's house with another friend and we sort of had a rivalry thing going on to see who could be the best Pokemon Master!
So Johnny had received INTEL that there was more to Mt. Silver than just the first room (none of us had figured out you could challenge Red) so after about fifteen minutes of searching, David found the door and went straight on through and talked to Red. Myself and Johnny were going crazy because David hadn't told us where the door was and if he beat Red first, he'd become the Pokemon Master out of the three of us. Eventually we found it (disclaimer: Johnny did, I was just watching his screen). By this point, David was losing to Red horrifically. We started our individual battles with Red and I remember all of us shouting abuse at our games when something went wrong or exclamations of glee when the battle turned in the direction we wanted it to. Five minutes later, David and Johnny have lost and it's one versus one. My Lanturn versus his Blastoise. His Blastoise is faster because my Lanturn is less leveled up than he should have been. Blastoise misses his attack (don't remember what it was) and Lanturn gets a critical hit. VICTORY TO REKKY THE GREATEST POKEMON MASTER IN THE WORLD. At least that was what us seven year olds determined back in the day. |
I thought I'd post an entry from the journal the Johto champion RAIAN has written. I had a feeling it was private, but I don't really care. He should've put it away.
Dear Journal, I saw her again when I was looking for furniture for my room. I couldn't stop staring at her; she was stunning. There's no possible way I could describe her. I feel awful for defeating her and making her cry back when I first came through this town. I decided to apoligize to her, but I couldn't summon any courage to even walk towards her. So I pretty much just walked out of the building, my tail between my legs. Maybe I'll go ask her out if I happen to walk by her. I SWEAR, she's one of the most beautiful creatures I've ever seen... Oh yeah, I also caught a Snorlax today. Felt I needed to share. Must be pretty serious. |
I. DESPISE. WEEDLES.
And pretty much every beginning trainer in FireRed/LeafGreen. They're always way stronger than your Pokemon no matter how long you grind, and you have to fight about four thousand Weedles before you get to Cerulean City. Oh, and your attacks ALWAYS miss and your opponent ALWAYS gets critical hits when you have low health. </rant> @MartinOddity- I felt like I'd give my in-game character a bit of a personality and add a roleplay type thing to it. |
i LOVE yellow so far... my first playthrough.... I am only at pallet and named my PIkachu: Buddy
|
I remember getting a new gameboy pocket, at 9 years old. my first year in a new house. thinking back, having a den and a living room and having my own room, was so great, but getting that gameboy and then seeing Pokemon red under the tree, my mind was solely on pokemon. i remember not having problems with any words, except Technique. i would say, tech witch. i played red all day long. I loved it so damn much. I remember being stuck in sliph cope forever till i got to Gary, who would beat the crap outta me. i remember discovering the old man glitch and misisngno. i still remember going in walmart one day and asked my mom for pokemon yellow. she would say its the same as red.. i still own red and yellow. i once had gold and silver, but i lent it out and never got it back.
|
I remember getting stuck in my house like everyone... And grindan forever in Viridian Forest because I couldn´t find the way through it... And finding it weird that Kakuna had arms. I also remember Pikachu being the first Pokémon I ever caught, and finding Nidoran creepy. I spent my first year playing Pokémon on the first few routes... And I never managed to reach the league.
My memories... Sigh. |

Well, after almost 10 years the internal battery on my Gold version has finally bled dry, taking with it the Pokemon I caught and trained up.
I kept meaning to transfer them all over to N64 for safe keeping but never got round to it. That'll teach me to procrastinate :( |
Quote:
I never really had any problems while going through the pokemon games, I guess I was a smart little kid, so I can't really share any stories about getting stuck in places for days. I guess my best memory of my first pokemon game would be finally getting my first pokemon ever, a venusaur, up to level 100. Those were the days. |
I remember when I used a Master Ball on a Graveler in Dark Cave; I also remember getting stuck in the cave too, so I sat my Game Boy Color down and when I came back my brother saved the game, so i was pretty much stuck in Dark Cave with no Flash and it took me hours just to get out. I was mad that I wasted a Master Ball on a simple Graveler -___-"
:t354:TG |
I think one of the greatest memories i had with my blue was finding out that the rival was actually the champion. All of my pokemon were either worn out or fainted from the last battle, and i thought i won the game until Lance tells you that you have one more opponent. I was kinda shocked that the rival was the last opponent (why cant later champions be a surprise like this one?). And of course, i got wiped out cause my pokemon were all in bad condition.(and i was out of recovery items)
And another memory that stuck with me was when i defeated all the one time only pokemon and didnt bother catching them at all. I thought they were just obstacles or bosses that were there to give me more experience. I felt really dumb about that. And another one would be when i freaken released my hitmonlee for no reason. Jeez i was such a noob back then. : ( |
i just started playing Yellow again :)
|
I remember being in 1st grade and sitting in my neighbors garage for about 7 hours playing through my red version. There was street a little ways away from mine that had about 10 guys on it and we were all really into the games at the time. It was my first time going through the game and it was all their second time. I remember I started at Lt. Surge and by the end the of the day I had beaten Sabrina. Good times....
I also remember once in about 3rd grade I was over at my same friends house. It was a rainy day so we were just kinda sitting around outside waiting for the rain to stop. One of my friends told me that when you beat the game bills backyard opened up and it had every pokemon in the game back there that you could catch. I of course believed them and went home that night to try to figure out how to get into bills backyard. The next day they told me it was a joke -.- Another story about those guys, they were the first ones to show me how to do the missingno. glitch back in about 3rd grade as well. I thought it was so cool being able to duplicate rare candies and master balls. It made the end of the game too easy >.< Recently I've been playing through red at school on visual boy advanced when I'm done with all of my work. It's been fun and it's great nostalgia. I've also been listening to a lot of the music from red/blue on youtube lately (the best music IMO). Even though I never kept the volume on when I was younger all that often (I wanted to save batteries), I still remember all of the songs somehow. |
I'm just about to get on the S.S. Anne and get cut. Maybe also get Mew and Kadabra a few levels built up :D
|
Best memory in RED must be first time beating Elite 4. I was a noobie, so all my Pokémon died almost instantly. But, Hitmonlee of all the pokémon out there saved the day! One High-Jump Kick OHKO Dragonite and also killed Blue's Blastoise! Good days. Also i love that i captured all legendaries (except Mew) the same day.
Today i captured the last Pokémon's so i have all 151. Too soon to call it a memory, but it will be. |
I beat the E4 easily on my red a few nights ago and have now moved onto Silver. Just got into Goldernrod city on the game.
|
Just played through Silver again for the first time since I was about 9 years old, amazing game. Haven't been addicted to any of the newer versions like that, even graphically the animations are better than a lot of the newer stuff.
|
Hmm. I just found a diary on my long dead save file on my Red that got deleted. Here it is:
I just beat the Elite 4 for the 15th time! My PokeDex is almost full. I just need Blue to trade a few Pokemon with me! I was bored, so I went home. Mom made me dinner, asked how I was, I told her I was fine. I dug out a Mr Mime, Kadabra, and Chansey out of the PC to help and keep her company around the house. She thanked me and I went outside. I visited Oak's lab. He congratulated me and told me I was going to finish the PokeDex. I went to Blue to nag him to trade but to no avail. I guess he's pretty pissed off that I beat him w/ a critical hit. I hope we will settle and have a pure battle, no crits, no hax, nothing. Just a fair battle. Well see ya later. That's how I imagine a life in Red/TYSON (the save's name) Unfortunatley, the save was wiped after my bro kicked the N64 and smacked the controller out of my hand. |
I think my first memory from red was in '96 when I played a translated Japanese copy, and I had no idea what the game was about or what I was doing, so I just kept going to the Pokemon center because I liked the music XD
From silver (my favorite version by the way) I remember just loving the whole experience. That was the best game for me at the time, because I liked the way the story kind of advanced after 3 years. |
Last week or so I was playing on my Game Boy with my old Blue version, and started over. I was training the Magikarp from the old man.
However, the stupid Jigglypuff kept singing my NidoranM to sleep. Every. Single. Turn. But I prevailed! Eventually, they would fail at their song and I would knock them out in one turn. The days before the EXP. Share were painful... T_T |
I remember next to nothing about Red, my first Pokemon game, since I was 5 or 6 at the time. I don't remember a lot of specific things about Gold or Crystal, but I sure remember a lot of nostalgic feelings about them!
One unfortunate event that I do remember. I was training my Tyrogue, and I must not have been holding the Gameboy very firmly. It slipped and hit the hard floor, and I think the Gameboy broke AND I lost the save data :( I was so attached to those Generation 2 games. http://pldh.net/media/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/175.gif |
Beat Pokemon Blue. Here's my finished team:
Spoiler:
|
My fondest memory of Blue is Hydro Pumping my way through the E4. It was so funny, because the attack looked like the opponent's Pokemon had broken a water main underneath it or something, because all these little spouts of water came up underneath it. Out of interest, my Blastoise was my only Pokemon that first playthrough. I never caught anything else. Ever.
Remember the old 'it's super effective' sound? ;; So nostalgic. I'm getting shivers thinking about it. |
Blastoise was my very first Pokemon :)
|
Blue
I got Pokémon Blue when I turn 5 along with a Game Boy color. I couldn't read by the time, much less English :D
The thing I remember the most when playing that game is how hard I pressed A button when trying to catch a Pokemon or inflict more damage :D I also remember doing the Missingno glitch for hours and hours searching for a Mewtwo, because my uncle always got one :D I just found why this happened last week when reading about the glitch, my name was always BERNARD and my uncle's name was PEDRO, so it was impossible for me to get one that way. |
My Pokemon Red memory (the one i can remember) was when i first got the game. I was 9 years old. At 9, a lot of changes happened around me. The day after my 9th birthday, we moved to a bigger house. It was old, it had bugs, but it had 3 bedrooms, so my teenage brother was more than satisfied with not having a baby like me in the room with him. Anyway, like most kids, i went to bed early Christmas Eve. That December i covered my bases. i wanted Toys, Video games, and toys. Anyway, with my bedroom being directly across from the living room, i ran toward the tree. a lot of stuff that i use to this day was probably under there...but the star of the show was Pokemon Red. i played for hours that day....good times...
I also have a Yellow memory,(A short one) I was at walmart, or kmart, and i went to the videogame section. my brother was there and my mom too. back then, i had to go to a certain section with somebody, but we all went. I saw Yellow edition. Back then, i watched the tv show too, so i thought it was the tv show edition if pikachu is the starter. I begged my mom to get it. my bro chimed in and said "its just like the other one you have", in a non-helping nature. i said it had differences. my mom saw they eye of the tiger...or maybe that i was going to throw a fit...so she bought it for me....also, i was stuck on brock for a month or 2 before i realized i needed a butterfree. G/S memories are kinda sad. i was in middle school around this time. i remember the egm magazine with Ho-Oh on the cover. i was so into the game. i remember i even had Pokemon magazines with articles about it, and on the back, showed the starters and there evolutions. another good thing was that my good friend was into it too. so when he would spend the night, we would battle, and trade and stuff. one of my favorite moments was when i got to goldenrod city. it is my all time favorite city! i love everything about it, and i remember falling in love with the Olivine music. and a WTF moment, when some random guy gave me HM Strength. the sad part comes from when i let some guy borrow my Gold. he never returned it. i asked and asked every day. i even asked a friend to interrogate him about it...but it was no use. i bought Silver sometime after and then it was taken also... |
Pokemon Silver, This may be a bit too late but in 2006 my adventure started, it was really fun I enjoyed it, Just like GSC I have enjoyed HG&SS FR&LG B&W!
|
Played Red ever since I was 3 or 4. It was a gift from my grandmother's friend. My cousin (2 years older than me) and I shared it. I remember the days we fought over the cartridge. Squirtle is my first pokemon. Although my first level 100 is Snorlax, I didn't train it. I remember finding a way to get into the room where Lt. Surge was. I didn't knew how to get in there and I skipped Gyms. After weeks of finding a way, my cousin helped me get the 3rd badge and we are off to Saffron City. However, we didn't knew how to past through the Saffron Guards. We were stucked there like a few months till I bought a fresh water and walked through there and walah! After that, my cousin took the cartridge from me and I never saw it again.
Until last year, I asked my cousin for the cartridge and he gave it to me. However, the game save was deleted (well, after not playing for like 7 years?) and I started it since than and my first level 100 of that run was Snorlax. (again :)) All those memories, I missed them. :) |
I started playing yellow wen I was 7 n man was I mad when my haunter didn't evolve lol. Then came yellow and I couldn't beat Brock lol. Then came silver and I didn't know how to move the two people battleling on the way to go get your first badge lol. Really good times
|
I was four when I received my first ever video game, Pokemon Yellow. I was so awesome at it, even though I couldn't read half the words. In fact, I was SO AWESOME at it that I trained my Pikachu (and only my Pikachu) to level 70, had my brother evolve it through a trade, and then sobbed when Blue sent out his Sandslash at the Indigo Plateau. Ah, youth.
Pokemon Gold turned out slightly better (but not really). I kind of scrambled through the game until the Lake of Rage, where I captured the Red Gyarados and spent the better part of two years getting to level 100. I then proceeded to own everyone in the game. Obviously, I didn't have much skill (come on, I was six), but me and Gyarados are best buddies. I even traded a clone to Crystal to preserve him for eternity, because my save battery is due to die any minute now. Yeah, I know this is a huge tl;dr. Sorry. :l |
I have begun playing Blue again and I am at Vermilion ( Haven't beat Lt.Surge yet) with this Team:
Wartortle Lv.30 Tackle-Bite Bubblebeam-Water Gun But since Lt. Surge is an electric leader and every time I try to catch a wild Pokemon I One-hit it, I am stuck. |
My most recent run through Gold brought some of my favorite moments in the game in awhile. First off, I raised my Eevee into an Umbreon. I'm very glad I did, because that is not only my first Umbreon, but it really impressed me in battle, even before it evolved. And another thing I loved about this was my battle against Lance- I haven't had this close a match in awhile.
It started off with Ampharos against his Gyarados. Gyarados used Rain Dance, Ampharos used ThunderPunch, down. Then he sent out his first Dragonite, used Blizzard, took down a lot of health. But then I got lucky with a critical ThunderPunch that was further boosted by Rain Dance. Second Dragonite, I switch to Furret who does little damage before being taken down. Then I sent out Kadabra, who I was expecting to be a major staple in this match. Wrong, one Psybeam, one Hyper Beam. Then I sent out Umbreon, who only needed one Take Down to defeat it, thanks to being weakened from the previous two Pokemon. It managed to get in a Twister before, which in addition to Take Down recoil, left Umbreon with little over half HP. Aerodactyl, I send out Ampharos. It took Ampharos a Thunder Punch and an Iron Tail to defeat Aerodactyl, and he was left with red HP. Lance sent out his last Dragonite who easily took down Ampharos, and to my surprise, my Red Gyarados. Still, my Gyarados put up an impressive fight before being taken down, leaving Dragonite with less than half HP. I send out Typhlosion and use RollOut, which takes out Dragonite by turn 2, but its Outrage attack did a number. Lance sent out Charizard, but it got taken down in one hit by Typhlosion, and I won the match. That was a good match in my opinion. |

So inspired by this thread, I just pulled out my GBC and am restarting Yellow as I type. I am flooded with memories from being 8 years old. My fondest memory, though, is training an Abra, evolving it, then trading back and forth with my friend Cody to get an Alakazam. I think I got Ala to about level 70 by the time I was at the E4. I remember running out of PP on my attacks though so I had to beat Blue with Flash and Struggle. |
i remember not ever beating ONE game when i played. I could never figure out that there was a story line you had to follow. i just liked beating gyms and making a whole bunch of wild pokemon faint!
But since i found my yellow and changed the internal battery in my crystal 2 days ago, im having a wonderful time! i beat yellow a month ago, and im in Olivine city heading to Cinnabar Island right now in crystal! GOTTA BEAT EM ALL!....POKEMON! :D |
Playing through Yellow again, and the gym leader music is instantly my favourite again. I just love it. I have to argue that it's the some of the best music in the series.
|
I remember being 5 and playing Yellow.... I would get to Pewter with hardly anything other than the Pikachu, then take on Brock. I'd lose, start back at my house, then rage quit after about three tries.... I seldom ever got past Brock, and would die in Mt. Moon and NEVER be able to beat anything... So I'd turn the game off!
A year or two later, I found out you could heal at a Pokemon Center... then a little later, I found the Save function... then finally caught a Caterpie and evolved it fully. When I was 7 or 8, I got all the way to the mansion in Cinnabar, couldn't figure anything out, then quit till I was maybe 11, when i finally beat the game! The sad part is that I beat Gold and Crystal before Yellow.... |
mmm the colour ones probally had my best memories - like getting blastoise for the first time. also when i defeated the first 5 gyms before i lost the game. made me pretty proud :D
|
Ohhhhhh the metal games' music was so charming, and the color games were the best as well. I like 8-bit music ALOT.
|
Just started playing Silver version over again last night, the music and the graphics are a blast from the past :)
Going to start to build a strong six Pokemon team early so I'll have an advantage later on. |
I remember I was playing on my game boy pocket instead of my GBC and was in the bug catching came and caught a venonat whilst not really paying attention.. then a scyther showed up and I was like OMG and I tried to catch the scyther but couldn't and got all upset.. but I got in second with my venonat.
>_> then I went on my bro's GBC to discover that the venonat was a shiny.. @[email protected] I was like.. omg.. |
I remember in Blue version when I defeated Lance I went on against Blue "Gary" & when the champion music came up I was like huh whats happening!? And finally I realized it was the champion battle when I saw "Champion Gary would like to battle". I was mindblown
|
A while back in like March or something I finally managed to get a hold of a GB/GBA switcher link cable from a friend and got to evolve my hard-trained scyther in crystal. I felt so great! I love my Scisor!

I remember when I first played Pokemon Crystal. It was 5 years ago, back when I was becoming 10 years old. I had a friend who had pokemon crystal, and I was a die-hard pokemon fan back then. Anyways, I borrowed pokemon crystal, and Gold, but was focused more on crystal. I realized he was at the pokemon league, but hasn't caught suicune yet. I battled Suicune, but foolishly used the master ball. I feel so stupid. Playing Pokemon Crystal actually Inspired me to get the game. I don't have it though, but I have been wanting the game ever since. This year might be the one!
2 Years later, I actually got Pokemon Yellow, a really good classic. I was usually stuck at Brock, with his super strong onix >:( I finally beat him, which was good, and went to beat the rest of the game. Another 2 years later, My Pokemon Yellow game died. Suprisingly when I saved it without putting in another save battery, It saved perfectly. It was actually good it deleted on me, because I could catch a level 100 nidoking in veridian forest using a glitch. I did other glitches like Mew glitch, and stuff like that, but I actually beat the game again. :D Oh what wonderful memories, but now life is crap. |
Background Story about me and Pokémon: Spoiler:
So, after a background story, on to the memories: *First day of gaming I played for like 5 hours straight, defeating both Brock and Misty with my Powerful Charmander. Even tough I weren't a kid, I was a total nubcake with no sense of which moves who were powerful or not. *Got stuck in alot of places: (Cereulan City, Saffron Guards, Rock Tunnel, Lavender Town-Poké Flute hunting). *Captured like 20 diffrent kinds of Pokémon's who all did some kind of appearnce in my team. But, finally, I had this team for the Elite Four: Charizard, Electrode, Pidgeot, Kabutops, Hitmonlee, Alakazam. My favorite team of all time, because it was the first. And finally my epic Elite Four Challenge. My Pokémon's were underleveled. They did their best, but did fall pretty soon. When the battle against Lance were going, I only had Charizard, Kabutops and Hitmonlee left. I tried to make a risky move and decide to send in Hitmonlee against his last Dragonite. Hi's Hyper Beam misses and my Hi Jump Kick hits, so I defeat him! But, problem is my Rival (named after two fat twins I hated) is the champion. Charizard and Kabutops tries their best but faints. Up against his level 65 Blastoise is my Hitmonlee (around 45-55). Yet again, he lives and goes for the Hi Jump Kick! Scared and excited I say how Blastoise lost his life and I became the champion! Some weeks later I captured Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres and Mewtwo the same day. Since I was a heartless bastard I let Articuno replace Pidgeot and even worse, Mewtwo took the hero HITMONLEE's place. Sorry Hitmonlee, one day I will thank as the hero you are. Will mention Crystal Adventures later. |
Sweet nostalgy of Pokemon Red.
I got it when I was like, a child (don't know how was my age). My first Pokemon was a squirtle. I remember that I got stuck in Cerulean city for days and I farmed my Wartortle to level 35 before finding the famous "stolen house" with the man who gives you TM28. I remember, me too, how awesome the Champion Gary Theme is! But after I had to remove my save. Reason? My dumb sister had removed my lvl 100 Blastoise and my lvl 100 Zapdos. From that, I were disgusted of playing with Zapdos then I discovered Articuno and fell in love with it. How cool is that, an Ice beam in Dragonite's head! Hahaha! |
Yea, I'm a Articuno fan too. Beatiful Pokémon.
|
Yesterday I finally managed to level up my Scizor from level 56 to level 57.... believe me when I say that took me a long time....
|
Crystal holds a very special place in my heart because it was by far my most played Pokémon game (aside from Black now). I remember my very first shiny Pokémon, and no, it wasn't Gyarados. Remember that egg you get from the Daycare man when you talk to him for the first time? Well, it contains either Cleffa, Igglybuff, Tyrogue, Smoochum, Elekid, or Magby and has a 50% chance (I believe) of being shiny. Anyway, I was just biking along the Bug-Catching-Contest park (National Park?) with my egg when all of a sudden, it was hatch time!
At first I was a bit confused why my Igglybuff didn't look normal. I mean, it was a lighter hue of pink and hinted with green. I knew Igglybuff didn't have green in it normally. But, I chalked it up to just a color error and went on my merry way to train my new little pink ball of cuteness. But then......"Go! IGGLYBUFF!" *shine shine shine* I mean, I still didn't understand. But I just knew my little Igglybuff was special. And I refused to evolve it because I thought it'd just turn into a normal Jigglypuff. And that shiny Igglypuff never left my party. Ah, nostalgia. |
tl;dr alert
After reading these posts, some of the situations in them applied to me in one form or another. Here's some of my memories of playing through the Gen. I games (mostly from when I first got Yellow, which was my first Pokémon game, for Christmas 1999).
Most of my memories I'm posting about Yellow are from 1999-2000. With Blue, which I acquired later, 2001 or so. Quote:
I don't know how I managed to beat Brock the first time around (using mostly Normal attacks), but on later save files/playthorughs, I went the Butterfree route. EDIT: Early on, I thought the only way to beat Brock in Yellow was to trade for a Bulbasaur or Squirtle from Red or Blue. Quote:

Other memories of mine (all on Yellow): *On Route 1, I tried to figure out relentlessly how to access the grass on the sides of the route made inaccessible by the blocks. I even thought at one point they contained rare Pokémon. *When going to Viridian City for the first time, (when I first got that game), I couldn't figure out what, if anything, needed to be done in order for the Gym to open (thinking it was the first gym). *I tried to capture many other trainer's Pokémon (especially those that cannot be found in the wild, such as Weedle and Meowth), which was really stupid and ignorant of me since the sign in Viridian Forest and the game manual specifically warning not to do this. *When I got to Saffron City for the first time, I couldn't figure out how I would ever be able to get in the Saffron Gym (NOT the Fighting Dojo), which was always blocked by a Rocket Grunt until you defeated them in the Silph Building. When I did beat Team Rocket in the aforementioned building, I then entered the official Gym to battle Sabrina, even though I had not made it to Fuchsia City yet, thinking this gym was the 5th (not the 6th, as it actually is). *I really spoiled my Pikachu the first time I played through it, even though NPCs and the game manual tell you to raise your team evenly. I abandoned this practice when my save file I made this mistake on (and other mistakes, including the others I mentioned above) got wiped. Finally, as I have brought up a few times here in the past, all of this ended on Labor Day 2000, when early in the evening, I turned on Yellow, only to get an error message saying that my save file data had been "destroyed". Everything I had accomplished, as well as all the mistakes I made, in that save file were wiped out. I had that file since early 2000 (when it was still winter) at the latest. I don't know what I did to cause this, as I was unaware of any glitches to exploit at the time. (Now that I think about it, maybe the clock/odometer ran over.) |
Been playing Pokémon Crystal lately - and spotted Raikou - for the FIRST TIME EVER in all my years of playing :) Had him on my Pokédex so I hunted him down and caught him with my Masterball :D I'm still in shock lol :)
|
I don't have a lot of memories of playing Red. I was pretty young. I think one of my cousins showed me the Mew glitch and Missingno one day but at the time I just thought he found it in the game. I ended up losing my Red and found it in the grass one day and it would not work. :(
I have a lot of memories from playing Gold. I played it alot cause when RS came out I didn't have a GBA. My teams were pretty bad. Mostly legendaries I think. My friend discovered the clone glitch and would clone his Lugia and lend them to me lol. That's how I would beat the Elite Four most the time. I remembered I burrow a friends Cyrstal version. He wanted me to get through the Burned Tower cause he hated the music. I did that for him and he said I could finish the whole game after that. I kept it for four years and ended up ruining the clock. Now it's always 12:37 pm on Wednesday. XD |

Oh the memories of playing Pokemon Yellow are too nostalgic. I faintly remember playing Gold and having a Quilava. A couple years ago me and my brother tried to fit a Pokemon Gold cartridge in a DS Lite, it did not go well.

Oh nose; the nostalgia when I was still playing pokemon with my dad :(
I was sad cause I remembered how my dad truly enjoyed pokemon games, well, me too of course. I was only 12 years old when I have it. He will get angry on me when I forgot to charge the rechargeable batteries, I too of course get angry at him when he forgot it too. Pokemon Red and Blue was my first GBC cartridges. I remember when I was stuck at Brock cause my first pokemon was Charmander I thought that picking who's in the cartridge's sticker is the strongest pokemon on the game lol. My dad picked up Bulbasaur and asked for a trade if I want Bulbasaur instead of my Charmander I declined of course. My team on my very first playthrough is only my Charizard which is level 87 who has the HM 02 Fly. I was shocked that I need to battle my rival before I can enter Indigo Plateau. I was confident at first cause I pawned his 5 pokemons at that time then his Blastoise came! And then my poor Charizard lost in just 1 hit. I restarted my Journey with Charmander but this time I raised 5 more pokemon. With knowledge of weaknesses. They are; Victreebel, Alakazam, Gengar, Charizard, NidoKing, and Aerodactyl. Then the e4 battle come. the average level of my pokemons was only 45. But still managed to beat the e4 then, the awesome battle theme came. I was shocked that I need to beat again my rival. I restarted the battle cause I was nearly ran out of PP and thinking that I need to heal all of my pokemon cause this battle will be intense. I was right. He killed 4 of my pokemon when he used Alakazam. My pokemon left was Nidoking and Charizard. Then pawned him back with my Nidoking, then his Blastoise pawned my Nidoking. Finally its my last chance to beat him. My Charizard was Critical only when his Blastoise used Hydro Pump. Then I don't know but his Blastoise kept using Seismic Toss I know that it will take 2 turns to launch his attack so I used Fly everytime I saw the message " Blastoise is blahblah" then I won I nearly threw my gameboy that time lol. Dad even bought me my 1st mountain bike cause he promised it to me that he will buy me one when I finished pokemon. |
i remember getting yellow and silver together and playing silver 1st and not knowing how to get out of the house... and here i am what like 11/12 ears later and im still playing these games.... although silver, gold and crystals batteries are dead yellow and blue are still going strong and im currently replaying yellow :) its been great!
And ya sort of know your getting old when you go on Amazon only to find that a brand new version of pokemon yellow is worth £200 "/ ahh the good old days :) |
My most memorable time of RGB is when I first got Pokemon blue from an older guy (said he didn't want to play anymore......And now I'm probably bout the same age as him back then). When I put the power on, the screen of my purple GBC blew my mind. My Pkmn team was already lvl 100s, and it was sth like: Pidgeot, Exeggutor, Dugtrio, Raichu, and two more. Also, my pack was filled w/ master balls, so, of course, I went to the nearest tall-grass area and started throwing master balls everywhere ^^;;
Then, I went to a shop in......some random city, and they were actually selling master balls!!! (He probably cheated -_-) So I used up all my money to buy about 5 master balls and used them all again. Repeat *10, then reset my game to begin my real adventure. I think that's why I loved Pokemon blue the most; MASTER BALLS...... |
I remember my 1st ever legit lv.100!!!! ho-oh in pokemon silver... it was an epic moment of triumph for me.... then my cousin who was really jealous of me done the copy glitch while i wasnt looking and traded the copy to him.... was not pleased at all! but now the battery is dead and that ho-oh is long gone.... RIP HO-OH!

I seriously thought I was the only one... when I got my Red the first day it came out all those years ago, it took me like an hour to figure out that the carpet was the way to exit your house... lmao |
I still have a very painful memory, one that wll never fade away... I remember back in the day when I was playing my pokemon Gold, something strange appeared. As I was just a kid and had no internet I couldn't know what that was. I still recall the glimmer, those unreachable stars, the strange purple tone on an otherwise green spinarak... oh boy, it was the first shiny pokemon i encountered. Why is it so painful? well... I HAD NO FREAKING POKEBALLS T_T so yeah...ended up killing it... *sob*

I remember the first time playing through Pokemon Gold, I got up to the part where I had to surf east from New Bark Town to get to the Pokemon league and the fat guy stops you and says "Do you know what you just did? You just took your first step into Kanto!" and tells you to check your Pokegear map.
I almost shed a tear to see that all of Kanto was available in the game and I had no idea it was even in there up until he told me. I don't think I got Pokemon Gold until years after it was released so seeing Kanto again was just awesome. |
The first Pokemon game I played was Pokemon Silver.
I got it one Christmas, My brother got Gold. We went around to our Grandparents (Like every Christmas the whole family goes there.) and there two of my cousins were opening some presents and they got Gold and Silver aswell. (We were all very young around 5-6) We started at the same time and adventured together. In the first few hours we all had 4 gym badges and decided to battle each other. My brother had the highest level Pokemon, it was Charizard. I Remember he took out Me and My two cousins using only Charizard. Now 11 years later I can beat him no problem... unless he uses that Charizard :') |
POKeMON Chapter 1; Kanto Travels
TIM POKeMON: 2 (1 in box) Badges: 0/8 Rank: POKeMON Trainer El Team http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/3/30/Spr_1b_007.png SQUIRTLE | Level: 10 Tackle, Tail Whip, Bubble ____________ Part 1 | The Legend Begins TIM born in PALLET TOWN use to play with his child hood friend BEN all the time, unfortunately, BEN became born with TIM and began seeking no adventurous activities. 7 Years later, TIM is now eleven, he decides to leave home and head out of town for a moment. He is suddenly stopped though by PROFESSOR OAK, the town's local scientist. He brings in TIM and offers him and BEN, his grandson, a POKeMON. TIM, always fascinated by the water that PALLET TOWN rested next too, decided on the water-type, SQUIRTLE. Just as TIM is about to leave, BEN stops TIM and challenges him to a POKeMON battle. TIM narrowly escapes defeat but comes out victorious. Distraught, BEN leaves the lab and TIM heads out of town like he decided to in the beginning. Part 2 | POKeMON Enthusiast, Not Quite Trainer TIM sets out of PALLET TOWN into ROUTE 1 where he meets a POKeMART sales representative and hands him a POTION for free. TIM thanks him and then continues to head north. The winding trail to the next city was dotted with Wild POKeMON, all equally dangerous. However SQUIRTLE proves more then a match for them. Finally TIM sees a sign that says "VIRIDIAN CITY", This is TIM's first time in this city, being a bumpkin from PALLET TOWN, his mother usually retrieved things from this town whilst TIM played his SNES in his room. TIM entered the town and conversed with the locals. As the tried to pass further north from the town he was angrily stopped and redirected by an old-man blocking the path from the city to ROUTE 2. TIM instead though it would be better to stock up on provisions anyway. As he entered the POKeMART the clerk calls him over, TIM nervously steps forward. The clerk hands him a box and asks him to deliver it to PROFESSOR OAK. TIM agrees and leaves the store. He heads down the same path he started from and returns to PROFESSOR OAK's Lab. PROFESSOR OAK thanks TIM for delivering his mail and asks him for a favor, but not before BEN re-enters the lab. PROFESSOR OAK then becomes serious. He asks that TIM and BEN take a device known as "a POKeDEX" and would record data of all the POKeMON species around the world. TIM and BEN agree. And they both set out. Part 3 | POKeMON Trainer, Not Quite Master Before TIM sets out once and for all, he stops at BEN's sister and grabs a Regional Map to help him stay his course. TIM then backtracked to VIRIDIAN CITY and continued to head north, after buying POKeBALLS, ANTIDOTES and other assorted sundries. Before heading to ROUTE 2, TIM spoke with the cranky old man who stopped him earlier, the man apologizes and shows TIM how to catch POKeMON. After that TIM moves forward but spots a sparkle in a nearby bush. As he draws closer he realizes it's a POTION stuck in a flimsy, old tree. He then headed north past ROUTE 2. After crossing a check point, TIM entered the dark and maze-like VIRIDIAN FOREST. Distantly TIM heard the cries of a POKeMON, almost sounding like "Pika!" Whilst searching for any unusual POKeMON he came across a small bug POKeMON. The DEX asserted it was called CATERPIE and TIM, with help from SQUIRTLE caught his very first POKeMON. TIM now continues to search for the Pika-Sounding-POKeMON, so he keeps his eyes open for any non-bug-type POKeMON. To Be Continued. |
Hmmm, my memory of my 1st blue version is that even though i got the Sliph Scope, THE GHOSTS WERNT IDENTIFYED!
On Red Version, I beat the game and went into the Ceuralean (sorry if i mispelled it Cave, I was wandering around there for hours, then i finally made it to where mewtwo was, was thinking "What the--- what is this doing here?", and didnt even save, battled mewtwo (WITH NO POKEBALLS TO THROW) killed it, and the saved >.> never got out cause i traded my red for my friends fire red (worst plan ever) In my 1st silver version file, i wasted my master ball on a Donphan in Victory road, In my 2nd file, i decided to go check out the whirl islands more, and i have to say it was my best idea, for i located Lugia all on my own, when i saw it, (i had my master ball) i went up and talked to it, entered battle, saw lugia and fell in love with it and used my master ball. On my Yellow Version, i captured EVERY legendary pokemon except for mew On my Crystal Version, i transfered my legendarys from yellow to it, got all the way to Red, when i first battle him i was confused, the second time, i took a closer look at his sprite, then immediatly grabed Yellow and checked the trainer card, and realized it was the same character, that i was battleing myself (Paradox anyone?) Most of the gold versions i got had dead internal batteries, one of them died on me while i was in Team Rocket's hideout. Oh, Also, i forgot to mention that on my first silver version, i caught a shiny Arbok, and unfortunetly when i didnt have pokeballs, found shiny machop, sentrent, geodude, and some others :( *Edit* Almost forgot, in my 1st crystal version i had just captured entei, the last of the 3 beasts i needed to, and then my crystal version got washed and was unplayable >:( Quote:
if this helps, your welcome :) |
Pokemon yellow journal!
Hey everybody! I just restarted my pokemon yellow game and wanted to add my personal pokemon journal as it goes along, everyone is free to post and add their opinion on my pokemon journey.
I will be adding character profiling every once and a while so you can see what the characters look like. One thing i will make sure not to do is make it bland, and i will mark the journal entry's by days. I will try to post as often as i can so keep up to date! (I will also be doing this with all of my other pokemon games but i decided to start with the classics) Day 1 Cant fall asleep In the midst of the night with a cool spring breeze brushing by my face i couldn't happen to fall asleep. All i could do was daydream about the day to come and think about all the adventure that was yet to behold itself upon me. And i could only wonder about the first pokemon i would be getting. It was so tough to pick... The stern bulbasaur, the awesome squirtle, and the ferocious charmander. All of them are great, but which one to pick... I just don't know. I will have to find out tommorow (Character profile coming soon) |
Hun, you don't need your own thread to tell your story. There's already a journal journey. Merged.
|
Yo guys. Since the gym leader challenge thread for red version is closed I figured I'd post here in the form of a journal update.
*beat brock and headed to mount moon *caught a parasect *went through mount moon and grabbed the dome fossil. *now I'm about to do the mew glitch. Beat Gary (named john) and about to conquer nugget bridge. But yeah that's basically it. I'm having fun with this challenge, even though it's locked ;) |

Been playing Pokemon Yellow the past week. Whilst 2 of my friends been playing Red and Blue. Got a pretty OK team for where I'm at (Just defeated Lt.Surge.) Lost my first match today though, against Lt.Surge. Sucks. But only 1 loss is hardly anything.
My current team: 1. Butterfree lvl24 2. Charmander lvl19 3. Pidgey lvl21 4. Pikachu lvl23 5. Bulbasaur lvl17 Pokedex completion rate: Seen: 55 Own: 24 Just been exploring digletts cave, and gathering up some items. For now I'll probably just relax in Vermilion city and hang around and go pick up Squirtle. |
My Journey is starting right now!
Hello everyone i am starting my own journey right now in Pokemon Red
Info Name : Red Rival name : Blue Starter : Charizard Ingame data : Defeated Blue |
Good to see someone else starting as well.
New update: So just played Pokemon Yellow for a few hours today, headed back to Mt.Moon to go catch some Clefaries. Took a hell of a long time to do so, but I got them. I caught 3 total. 1 to trade with someone for Mr.Mime near Digletts cave, which I ended up doing so. And another to involve into Clefable, and one to keep as a Clefarie. Also spent some time on the out-skirts of Vermillion city battiling the trainers on the fields to gain up some levels. And headed over to the watch tower to speak to Pro.Oak's aide and picked up the item-finder for officially owning 30 Pokemon. Spotted a Drowzee, and got to catch 2 of them. Hoping to evolve one into a Hypno. Headed back to Vermillion city, spoke to a Police officer and she gave me Squirtle, however I decided to fill the 6th spot on my team, it was a Dugtrio I caught in Digletts cave, level 29, I couldn't miss that opportunity to have such a strong lvl Pokemon at that time to NOT be in my team. So I put Squirtle in the daycare, where I may pick him up later in the game. Going to stop at Route 9 tonight, heading into Rock tunnel tomorrow, going to be annoying as heck. Current Pokemon team: 1. Bulbasaur lvl 20 2. Charmander lvl 20 3. Pidgey lvl 21 4. Pikachu lvl 23 5. Butterfree lvl 24 6. Dugtrio lvl 29 Pokedex Completion rate: Seen: 63 Own: 30 |

So tonight and this morning I explored through Rock Tunnel without the HM Flash, purely because I didn't want one of my Pokemon to be stuck with that HM forever. So I navigated my way through the cave using my Pokemon Yellow guide book I have. Took a while and end up catching myself a Onix, put it straight to the PC.
Battled all the trainers there and Dugtrio came in handy for a lot of the battles, just used Dig on them and they were gone mostly in 1 hit. So I finally left Rock tunnel and entered the path to Lavender town, and versed a few trainers on the way. I actually don't like Lavender town anymore, ever since that creepypasta video on it, I can't look at it the same way, the music even hurts my ears even though it's not meant to and it's all in my head. But still, I looked around and visited the Name rater and changed Dugtrio's name to a nickname. Left Lavender town to go on my way to Celadon City, on the way versed some MORE trainers, caught a Abra and a Kadabra and finally entered Celadon City where I am about to go visit the DEPT. Store and pick up a few things. I also as well whilst in the Pokecentre, traded with my friend Julian and got myself 2x weedles and a Kakuna. And traded with another friend Jarrod and got myself a Meowth. Oh and I evolved Charmander to Charmeleon. Current team: 1. Bulbasaur lvl 25 2. Pidgey lvl 24 3. Pikachu lvl 27 4. Butterfree lvl 28 5. Dugtrio lvl 32 6. Charmeleon lvl 25 Pokedex completion: Seen: 70 Own: 42 |
Spent all day in Celadon city, got myself an Eevee and evolved it to a Vaporeon and then I bought some supplies in Celadon city DEPT. Then visited Team rockets gambiling centre, spent a while there trying to get lucky, ended up getting enough to get myself a Vulpix so I was fairly happy with that, then I took down the whole base of Team Rocket and defeated Giovani VERY easily with Dugtrio and Butterfree.
Got the Silph co and then went to Lavander town where I again took down the whole tower of all the crazy possessed trainers and rescued the man. Picked up a Pokeflute and then saved the game. 1. Pikachu lvl 30 2. Butterfree lvl 31 3. Charmeleon lvl 29 4. Bulbasaur lvl 26 5. Dugtrio lvl 33 6. Pidgey lvl 25 Pokedex completion: Seen: 82 Own: 46 |
Wow, a memories thread.
Pokemon Blue was the first game I played and was too much of a noob that time (now I'm just noob). I hate caves where you had to use Flash (even now), but I love the move Surf. I taught Surf to every Pokemon possible to learn it! My most treasured accomplishment was to catch Mewtwo in a Pokeball. |
Basically to much to write - but I'm up to the elite 4 now! and my Pokemon are all ranged level 44 - 47. Currently, the league is to strong at the moment, so i'm going to keep versing them and level them up as much as I can. (I've already spent all my money on potions, healers etc) so that way I won't lose any money. And then when I think they're defiantly ready, take on the Elite 4 and have a real go at them.
After that I'll start doing a daily Journal post on my journey. |
I'm doing a generation run starting with Yellow right now. On my way to Lavender!
Team: Pikachu Lv. 24 Mankey Lv. 22 Pidgeotto Lv. 20 Ivysaur Lv. 24 Wartortle Lv. 24 Charmeleon Lv. 24 |
I randomly started a new Crystal file last night, the last remaining of my metal set. Just a few minutes ago tonight I caught a shiny gastly!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v140/angel624/pokemon/image_zps15ad3a37.jpg This is such an old game, I could lose her anytime but she's the first legit shiny I have gotten in a long time. |
One of my fondest memories, is the first time I managed to beat the E4 in Silver. It was the first time I actually managed to beat the E4, in any game so I was really happy. I was really bad about training other Pokémon for battling, so basically the only good Pokémon I had was my Typolosion.
|
Just beat the Elite 4
Final team: Charizard Lv. 49 Kadabra Lv. 50 Pikachu Lv. 48 Primeape Lv. 46 Venusaur Lv. 46 Blastoise Lv. 48 |
For me, the fondest memory I have of Gen 1 is that overwhelming feeling of completeness and accomplishment I get after registering the Original 151 in my Pokedex. That one moment reminds me of a simpler and happier time in my life where it felt like everything was right in the world.
(Can't say I feel the same now. *sigh* I guess we all have to grow up at some point.) |
I started a new game on red this morning :)
- got charmander -beat blue in oaks lab -delivered the package for oak -caught pikachu in viridian forest -beat blue again. |
Quote:
Hahaha I know exactly what you mean. So much simpler times. I remember the first time I ever played pokemon red, I chose Bulbasaur, caught a Caterpie and a Pidgey and went through all the way to the second gym badge with Misty, I just couldn't stop playing. I was a total noob and enjoyed the game so much that it has lasted with me all of these years. My first champion team was Venusaur, Arcanine, Pidgeot, Diglet, Poliwrath, Raichu One thing that even makes me laugh until now is that when I got close to Vermillion city I decided to let my Butterfree go "free". LOL My best friend still gives me a "You're so dumb" look when we look back to those awesome simpler times. I regret nothing! |
Quote:
Remember Everything, Regret Nothing!!! It bewilders me why most kids today want to grow up so fast (they obviously don't know how stressful it is to be an adult). I loved and enjoyed my childhood and wouldn't have given it up for anything. Back to Pokemon. My first champion team (which took me ages to build) was: Charizard, Pidgeot, Raichu, Snorlax, Exeggutor and Lapras. I tell ya, I was a complete noob. |
Got blue version around when it came out for my big old grey gameboy. Was the greatest thing I've ever received and Pokemon may be the only thing thats stuck with me this long.
My fondest memory is between: not knowing the trade evolution thing and training my Kadabra up to level 96 legit and asking my mom why it wouldn't evolve. Or finally beating the Elite Four/Champion and reaching the HoF that so many talked about. Had Blastoise, Dragonite, Pinsir, Beedrill, Dugtrio, Dewgong as my first ever HoF team. |

Named my player Seth and picked a good trusty partner, Victor the Cyndaquil! We ventured on to Mr. Pokemon's house and received a Mystery Egg! What could it be? On the way back to the lab, I battled some red-haired kid that called himself ??? but when the police asked for his name, I said his name was Biology because I was in that class at the time, and I just can't stand it. I gave the egg to the professor and got some Pokeballs and used one to catch my next party member, Farrah the Sentret. So cute! I also caught Belle the Bellsprout to use for Cut later on. Ooops spoilers...! After a little grinding, we took down Sprout Tower (Belle didn't watch or partake, don't worry) and Victor evolved into Quilava. After this, we decided we were ready to take on a gym challenge and we beat Falkner and his level 9 Pidgeotto with ease. We met up with Professor Elm's aide to receive the egg again. What's in there?! As we progressed south of Violet City, we caught our third party member, Marshall the Wooper! Puts that Mud Slap TM to good use, at least. Now we're preparing for Union Cave. Yup yup! |
Best memory in Gen II?
My best memory is when I was playing Pokemon Gold and I was in the whirl islands and my typhlosion was seriously underleveled, and my other pokemon all fainted. (I was about 8 so i wasn't that good at pokemon lol) So, I finally got to Lugia, and i was a little worried at first that Lugia would pummel my typhlosion, so I pressed A and his cry came up and the battle started. And what do you know, it was a shiny! I was really excited now and I was really determined to catch it. (I first heard about shinies at school from my friend, because he caught a shiny Hoothoot and showed it to me.) So Lugia attacked first and my typhlosion's health went way down to red. Then my typhlosion used Flamethrower and Lugia's health went into yellow. So i threw an Ultra ball and it was caught on the first try! I was so happy, I danced around the room lol. So a few days later, I showed my friend at school on the playground and his jaw dropped. And he said, "So theres a new Pokemon Master in town, huh?" That is one of my most special memories of the II gen. :D
|
In my Pokémon Red version I had a beast team as follows:
Blastoise Lv86 Pidgeot Lv86 Dewgong Lv85 Arcanine Lv84 Vileplume Lv84 Dragonite Lv84 Besides that team... I never found strength. I never got through victory road. I also thought rapidly spamming A while catching a Pokémon would help. I thought pressing B made me go faster and I could not for the life of me pronounce "Technical Machine" and "Giovanni" I said Tekneekal Mecheen and Govani My first shiny was a shiny was really lucky. In yellow, after I figured out how to find strength, I beat the game easily. Then I went to Cerulean city to battle my friend. I noticed Cerulean cave was open. I went through he cave and found this weird looking thing I thought was a statue. I talked to it and it was.. A shiny Mewtwo. I was confused because I didn't know what it was, but I caught it. Then my friend battled me and I used Mewtwo. On the next school day my friend was yelling saying "YOU GOT A SHINY MEWTWO?!?!???" The whole day was screaming and amazement. |
I remember the first time I found Lugia. I didn't know what I'd found so naturally I didn't save. Saw what it was and thought "Hey, Lugia! I'm gonna try to catch it!" Suffice to say my level 100 Feraligatr didn't like that plan. I never really understood how to play Pokemon, I only ever trained one Pokemon and I taught it whatever HMs it could learn. I believe that particular Feraligatr knew Cut, Surf, Strength, and Whirlpool. 1 attack and that Lugia was forever lost.
I also remember once I tried going through with a Pidgey. As I said, I didn't really understand the concept of "train more than one Pokemon," so all I had was that Pidgey. I got to Jasmine without any problems, though. |
Leaf Green Update! Last time I was at Misty's gym.

Pokemon Crystal Community Run: Chapter 1
A fresh start I allowed the community to choose my team for this run, and the results were: 1. Typhlosion 2. Jynx 3. Donphan 4. Ursaring 5. Suicune 6. Umbreon Should be an interesting team to use. My clock does not work when the game is off, so I'm struggling to catch Phanpy and Teddiursa within a reasonable time limit, since I need Eevee to evolve at night as well, and those two can only be found in the morning. But, I chose to be a girl, because Crystal has the best female protagonist of all the games, and named her the default KRIS. My Rival, as a call back to the first time I played Gold, is named ???. I have delivered the egg to Elm at this point, and am on the hunt for Phanpy. I really hate that Pokemon can flee in this game. It makes me sad when a 5% runs away. |

Upon arrival to Azeala Town, we spoke with Kurt and saved some Slowpoke bye running Team Rocket out of their well. During that, Farrah evolved into Furret! We took down Bugsy easily since Victor is obviously a Fire type. Then we had another battle with Biology, which was also easy. We didn't get into mischief in the Ilex Forest, nor did we serve the devil. We got Cut and used that to get through to Goldenrod City. Whitney wasn't really that hard to defeat and we pressed on to Ecruteak City and fought a tree. Turned out to be a Sudowoodo, so I caught her and she was named Suki. At the Pokemon Center in Ecruteak, we met Bill. We went back down to Goldenrod and on the way back, Marshall evolved into Quagsire! We spoke to Bill in his home and got our 4th party member, Rogue the Eevee. After that, we bought TMs to help Farrah and Marshall's moveset out and stopped there for now. |
Pokemon Crystal Community Run: Chapter 2
I finally managed to catch both a Phanpy and a Teddiursa, and proceeded into Violet City. At first it reminded me of my more recent runs of HeartGold, but the differences soon made themselves apparent as I realized that the remakes are not just straight recreations of what was. Notably, the path to Sprout Tower looks very different from the 4th gen version, with much less water in Crystal Version and lack of a bridge. Sprout Tower itself was more or less the same with the only real change being that the layout of Sages on the top floor is different. Another difference is Falkner's team. In Crystal version, none of his Pokemon exceed 10, but in HG his Pidgeotto is lvl 13. As a result of this, I did not need to grind as much as I expected. My team is pretty nice so far. I really need a Special move for Cyndaquil. Phanpy is too early to judge, but is doing okay. So far, Teddiursa is my favorite Pokemon on my team, since it's dealing the most damage right now.
