Spoiler:
Welcome to the world of Zinnos. The region is very lush, trees everywhere, water as far as the eye can see. The region is governed by Celebi, a native Johto Pokemon who fled the region shortly after Team Rocket's failed-attack on it.

You are a young [boy/girl], age 17. You're not really into POKeMON training, but you do have one. A rare Pokemon which you found injured in a nearby forest. Your father is a researcher and your mother is a cook. As new Pokemon began to be discoverd, budding trainers flocked in packs to the new region of Sinnoh. This is bad in that your father's lab is failing. Moving from Azaelea Town to a small village in a remote-northern location was far from your idea of a good time but at the time it was good for business. With the catering industry slowing down for the season and the overall lack of new trainers, your family is in a bit of a financial bind. To make matters worse, your home has now been foreclosed upon.

It seems lately that wild Pokémon have been attacking people. What's worse is that tame Pokémon have been attacking their trainers! No one quite understands why, but it is happening frequently. This furthers your fear of training Pokemon but at your Dad's request you take on the job of being a trainer to enter in the Pokémon Grand Championship, which takes place in one year and has a prize money total of $500,000; more than enough to pay off the $200,000 owed to the bank.

So off you go to train and catch two more Pokémon, as the tournament requires 3 Pokémon per competitor. As you travel from town to town, facing gym leaders to test your power, you run into a strange bunch of characters. Including a quirky rival, an arrogant gym leader-pseudo rival, and strange men and women in black. Venture into the world of Pokémon Requiem and discover these hidden truths!

Spoiler:

This is a comprehensive list of errors present in Requiem Beta 2. Since this hack is dead none of these will be fixed. If you want a more enriched Requiem experience visit the Shattered Dreams thread as that is essentially an updated Requiem.
  • There are some places that you cannot ride your bike.
  • The intro sprite for the Hero/Heroine have not been changed. [This is not a priority]

http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/2004/711287690558.png
Spoiler:
Q: Why did you restart the hack?
A: It crashed. I found a working Beta but decided against continuing from it as it was somewhat buggy.

Q: Why did you remove the Spritemon?
A: As nice as they are I feel like they served no purpose to the story. To be honest I feel like I used them originally to bring in a crowd. This time around I want the story to hold the hack up without the Spritemon.

Q: What about the palettes? Why did you change those?
A: For the same reason that I refuse to use a Rom Base. As nice as a new palette is, I feel like they're just another gimmick to support a hack. Again I think the features and story of the hack are more than able to hold it up.

Q: You should do [x], [y], and [z]!
A: I'm pretty open for suggestions but for now I think I'm satisfied with the way things are going.

Q: How long til the updated beta!?
A: It's out now. Download the IPS patch and patch it to a clean Fire Red rom.

Q: What tools do you use?
A: A-Map, XSE, Translhextion, NSE & UNLZ GBA.

Q: Who are the starters?
A: Treecko, Cyndaquil & Squirtle

Q: Why?
A: They are each a pure-type from their generation.

Q: Who do you recommend?
A: Cyndaquil is the easiest to play with. Squirtle is the hardest. If you're looking for ease chose Cyndaquil, if you want a challenge chose Squirtle, if you want to just play go with Treecko.

Okay I'll just give my opinions on this. And why did you quit Shattered Dreams? ;_;
I read your story; It's pretty nice. Good introduction with the background and setting is always pleasing. I like the idea of the new legendaries. I can't wait to see their sprites more than anything. It's not much of a lively story though. Let's hope that the 'POKeMON GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP' will be more interesting than the boring E4.

The features are nice. Trainer rematches sounds nice. I think you should try to create your own palettes though. Everything else sounds awesome.

Okay, so the tree palettes and grass/ground don't really contrast. So you should try experimenting a little more with the palettes. The fakemon look really nice. And the events look interesting. I couldn't see Wesley's tiles in the screens? o0

Yay! XD; a beta release this week. Looks like you've made some good progress. Good luck on getting further. Annnnddd..it should really be your decision whether you want to release the beta for Shattered Dreams or not.

altariaking September 13th, 2010 8:56 AM

Looks good, but didn't Samson already have names for those fakemon? You should keep them.

esperance September 13th, 2010 12:12 PM

I really like the grass and tree palettes. Very nice.

Good luck with this hack!

I have to agree with this. I though all of Samson's names fit the sprites well, but it is your decision.

Kevin September 13th, 2010 1:23 PM

lol Yeah I liked those names but it's your hack, your Pokemon. Anyways the palettes look alright, And I don't see any tile errors... So good luck on this.

Yeah he had names for them, but I changed the ones that I didn't like too much. Some of the names changed all the way others slightly and some not at all. I don't know, just something to set them apart from how everyone else will use them. If Samson wants me to use his names, I'll go ahead and change them. But I like most of the names I picked.

The PGNC is done in tournament style. I have most of that script written up already. It's strictly 3 on 3. And the story carries into and after it. You'll see what I mean soon. Also the reason you don't see WesleyFG's tiles is because there aren't any. I planned on using a few but didn't, but that doesn't mean I won't use some in the future. We'll see.

altariaking September 15th, 2010 10:03 AM

Fair enough, although it is kinda like calling a Pikachu sparky because you don't like the name Pikachu ._.

miksy91 September 16th, 2010 2:43 AM

This hack looks quite good, and I've a feeling I'm going to play beta 1 when you release it (even though my habit is only to comment on threads and not play the actual hacks) :D

Also, the fakemon look good (I read you didn't sprite them yourself), and I'm fine with the names you chose for them.

nasonex September 16th, 2010 3:48 AM

Wow! The fakemon looks awesome! It's neatly done!

I'm looking forward onto playing this Hack.

Maybe you can use custom tiles for the trees, grass
and buildings. Well, just a suggestion. :D

The fog also intrigues me, It's like I want to see how
it goes out with the Hack. :P

Everything else, They're neatly done!

Good Luck with this one! More power! ^^

Thanks, but I opted to still to the fire red stock tiles. That may change if I find a better tree, we'll see.

Update
Today, I completly finished Beta 1. Be patient folks;). Meanwhile, I'll be refining the hack, with extra features and starting Beta 2 (which I deadlined myself to have done by early December). After beating the beta, you can go back and rebattle everyone, who should for the most part have stronger/different teams.

nasonex September 16th, 2010 6:45 PM

Very Nice screenies Quilava's Master! I'm
impressed by the fakemons! It's nicely done!

But I'm wondering why vircalf is color blue?
Taurus is brown and milktank is kinda pink with black.
It feels weird or maybe it's just me..

I love the gym! I wonder how it works! :P

Hopefully the Beta will be bug and glitch free!
(Fingers crossed) :D

I'll be playing the Beta for sure! Good Luck
Quilava's Master! :)

Quilava's Master September 18th, 2010 8:54 AM

The beta has long since been completed and I think it is time for a release. The first beta of POKeMON REQUIEM will be out before Today at 3PM EST. The list of glitches, errors, and oddities has been updated with only ONE still remaing. Not bad if I do say so myself.

Quilava's Master September 18th, 2010 4:46 PM

Okay folks! The first beta is up. I've been working hard these last few hours in an attempt to perfect the beta, but I know there is something I'm forgetting. Oh well, check the first post for the IPS patch. Please report any and all errors and oddities, and I'll release and update. Enjoy!

Awesome! I'll download it right now! Can't wait to play it, and I'll be sure to report any bugs/glitches.

I played it just now, there was a few places where the text got cut off, I don't have any screenshots, sorry :(

Other than that I enjoyed it. Just wondering though, how are the grass starter's stats? I got wiped out about 3 times.

One thing I think you should do is heal the Pokemon after you battle to save your dad's life :)

Edit: Second hack I've played, go me!

It's attack is = to its defesne. Both relatively low. Its Special Attack is really high for its stage, it hp = its sp def both are relatively average. I got the opposite, i blew everyone out of the water using the grass type, while I got creamed with the water type. I'll try to find and fix the cut off text. Also it just dawned on me that you were never healed. The original draft of the script had you healed after the battle, when I re-wrote it I guess I forgot it.

I agree with Alignment, the grass starter got owned a bunch. Also, don't you think there is a bit of a large gap between wild Pokemon in Euphrates Walk and East Route? I am still grinding so I can go on. I plowed over the Gym Leader, but the trainers in East Route are creaming me.

EDIT: Okay, I got as far as I could, it froze and I didn't save.

I'm sorry. Seeing as I only had one beta tester you can expect some things to slip by. All the fixed one have been slashed. The one's with the missing accent haven't been fixed as it doesn't seem like a huge problem that needs to be erradicated forthwith. The big one (the Chrono Battle) is definitely one that shouldn't have made it to public release, the reason it happened was because your starter wasn't in your party (further explanation in the spoiler). The updated patch is up. In addition to those you listed, I fixed a potential game breaking problem, where you can get stuck on EAST ROUTE. I HIGHLY recommend who ever downloaded the first patch, delete it and download the upload.

Spoiler:

Random fact: Up until your first fight with CHRONO you need to have your starter with you otherwise the battle will NOT commence. This is because the decision to include CHRONO as your rival wasn't included until after I mapped and scripted MOZILLA CITY. While the decision to make his main POKEMON your starters opposite wasn't included until right before I had to put together his script. This means that i didn't set a specific flag for each indvidual starter, so the game checks for what starter family (yes it even checks for their second and final forms) you have so that it knows which battle to load, right before the battle. Thus if your starter isn't there the game doesn't know which battle to load, so the battle won't start.
tl;dr KEEP YOUR STARTER UNTIL AFTER BATTLING CHRONO. Sorry for any inconvenience. Oh yeah, PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE UPDATED VERSION! It contains a remedy to any potentially game breaking errors or oversights, as well as a smoother level curve (to bridge the gap between Mozilla & East Route) and adjusted stats for the grass starter.

Updates
I tried to restrain myself on posting any updates as Beta 1 has only been out 4 Days, but seeing as it's slow right now and I have a pretty significant chunk of free-time, I thought what the hell.

First and foremost is a change that people will notice in Beta2. The spritemon formerly known as GRAINBY has undergone some changes. It's new name is PUMELBY (which is what Samson named it to begin with). It is no longer half rock half ground. It is strictly FIGHTING and it has an evolution which was not present in Beta 1. Also the trade in Mirroredge changes aswell. Instead of trading Yachibi East for Pumelby you now trade Lantkin for Envyromoss.

nasonex September 23rd, 2010 9:49 AM

Nice new Fakemons! It's nice to know that your up
for Beta 2.. :D

And the maps, they're all good. Nice palletes. But I
don't like the idea of the third shot...

For me, it's better to use a cycling road or just don't
don't make the hero/heroine go back and forth on
just a straight direction..

Everything else is well done. I hope you progress far
and Good Luck! :P

Multinun looks awesome. I would of been laughing if you put in a Plusle or Minun like pokemon and its symbol is Pi and an Exponent one whose ability is pressure because the opponent loses 2 pp and and anything to the second power is squared XD. Other than that, I think that the hack looks good and I will be looking forward to playing it. Keep on going and don't slow down!

chrunch September 24th, 2010 11:47 PM

You stole my Plusle/Minun Idea D: I was going to do an equal Pokemon >:0

Anyways, this is looking great, l haven't played the beta yet, but the palletes look nice and the Equasle idea you stole D:<

Next Up: Screenshots
This screenshot will reveal three new spritemon and two beta2 locations.
note: These shots are from Beta 2. You will not see nor obtain any of the revealed pokemon in Beta 1.
Spoiler:

Introducing Trotler and Leckle! Both are NORMAL type prevos! Trotle is obviously the prevo to Stantler and Leckle to Keckleon. Honestly they are just watered down versions of their evolutions and differ in mainly their attack range. Third is Oko. It's a dual type Fire & Poison. It expells alot of poisonous gasses through its snout. If it cannot get thesee gasses out, it will explode

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/siennatown.png http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/Sienna.png http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/sonic.png
For those wondering about the open space in the third shot, it's to allow easy running/biking from sienna to sonic hill. This makes for faster egg hatching.

I thought it was fire and steel called volrunt???

Haha, I would have done a pi one but I would have gotten carried away and had a hack full of mathmatical rats X3. Also no slowing down anyday soon for me haha!

if you haven't noticed a lot of things changed with the spirtemon. If Samson PM's me then I'll change them back at his request. Also i changed its type due to an imbalance of fire/steel types (too many) as opposed to poison types (only 2).

The Egg shop script seems really neat. I think it'll make a great feature.

Though it should be "We sell EGGs that Trainers don't want." Basically you there shouldn't be an apostrophe. Capitalize "Trainers" because they're a group of people.

Comma after "Anywho". Your last screenshot looks worded pretty awkward. "I take care of the precious Pokemon of TRAINERS." Maybe "I take care of precious Pokemon that belong to TRAINERS." instead?

Lastly, you using "TRAINERS" in the last screenshot, and in the second not capitalizing it at all seems pretty inconsistent. I'm being a tad picky, but it is true.

Good luck with your future scripts and events.

That is the original script for the daycare in Fire Red. I don't agree with the grammar there either but meh, can't be bothered to change it.

My responses are in bold. I am typically very grammatically correct, but I'm divided between hacking and finishing my Biology homework :P.

When i chose the Grass-Starter i felt like i was destined for destruction. But i always considered grass starters the underdogs of the pokemon games since people rarely choosed them. Everything else such as tiles, and events are damn enjoyble. All the new pokemon were really enjoyable to see and i can't wait to play the next beta.

Update
It is with great displeasure that I announce that thsi working version of Requiem has crashed. In the available download there is a tremendous game breaking error. I've had to restart a few times and it's tiring. But I will say that I have revamped everything in this hack. First and foremost I must say that I will no longer be working with Samson's spritemon. Nothing against them it's just thaty I was able to effecrtively remodel the story surrounding Celebi as opposed to the fakemon Knote. Instead I plan to keep this version of Requiem third generation only. Also I've decided against using WesleyFG's pallete. Instead I will be using Fire Red's stock tiles and pallete with the only deviation being the use of Emerald's grass. The story on the forst page will be changed and new screenshotss will be released soon. As a bonus for anyone who enjoyed the original Requiem beta 1.5 will be released Friday. Enjoy.

I do the same!!! haha but I think the cause of the crash was graphical. First the trade screen messed up then the title screen refused to go past the rival. It either has to do with me improperly editing the graphics or messing up a pointer on my reecent binge of HEX editing. To be honest though I'm happy with Requiem the way it is at this moment. I had kind of reached a decrease in motivation and this crash kind of reignited my Rom Hacking Spark.

Quilava's Master October 11th, 2010 7:56 AM

Okay here's that update that I promised. It was supposed to happen Friday but I gto caught up in my weekend :3. Anyways I've uploaded what i call the FinalBeta. That doesn't mean that there will be no more beta's it's just a name I used for the last Beta of Requeim1.0. Currently I'm working on Requiem2.0. If you haven't noticed in the first post, the screenshots have been changed. Like I said the tiles and palettes for the most part have remained the same. And to add a little fun I'm going to answer any questions I think people would ask, in a Q&A fashion!

A: It will be finished and released on 12.01.10. Nothing is going to change that.

Q: What tools do you use?
A: A-Map, XSE, Translhextion, NSE & UNLZ GBA.

I have to thank you for this. Until I read this, I always compiled my scripts into my game. Then I checked them in-game, and if something was wrong (there are always errors, most of them are text errors) I just compiled the script into the game again. Now I realize if I continue to do that, the chances of my rom crashing in the future increase. So I'm using your method now, I script and compile on a "test rom" and when the scripts are perfect that's when I insert them into my real rom. Once again thank you ^^ (Sorry for off-topic)

The final beta is just a tad longer than the original. You get another rival battle in and even get to visit the town with the daycare. You go through a cave, and two more routes. It is what I considered beta 1.5 but the last of that version of Requiem

Quilava's Master October 28th, 2010 3:05 PM

I don't want anyone to think this hack is dead so here I am with a long over-due update. Over the last month I've been doing a lot of behind the scences things. More than 85% of this hack has been de-capitalized. I've brought in the whole Headbutting trees concept (which is a fan favorite). I've also changed somevsprites. They aren't all going to be HGSS because I like some Third Gen. sprites better. I'm glad to announce that to this date, there aren't any game-ending glitches. As a matter of fact, I don't believe this hack has ANY bugs, at all. In terms of on-scene progression, I've made it to Mirroredge City, which (if anyone remembers) is where I ended the first beta of the last draft. But this time I'm aiming for a whole release, which means maybe the first half of the game. I'm sure the wait will be worth it.
Enough babbling, time for some screenshots :D These screens were taken progressively and cover the span of 3 different locations. I have a folder full of them but won't upload them all. Gotta save a few surprieses in there ;)

Ideas?
Right now I'm torn between two ideas of how to implement a berry system. Any ideas?

drew6464 November 2nd, 2010 3:45 PM

Great looking game. I think you should make it so that the berries are named their normal ones and colored the same; "Oran Berry", a blue hard fruit, should be "Orange Fruit", a blue peelable fruit, etc.

I don't like that idea much at all, I'll leave them as is to retain the Pokemon-ess

Anyways updates.

I've been refraining from posting too many updates but now I come bearing goods. I've now mapped and scripted to and thru Springzone Tunnel (Used to be called Mt. Spring Zone). This is where you battle your rival, Chrono, for the first time, and where you meet a second rival, Ariel. Also I've completly scripted the Bug Catching Contest! The rules are similar to G/S/C with one major difference. You may NOT use any Bugs obtainable in the competition during the competition. For example Caterpie is available in the BCC so you cannot use it during the competition. This is so the game doesn't misread your original Caterpie for your captured Caterpie. It's not too big of a deal, I see nothing wrong with it. With that said the BCC will be available as soon as the first beta is out. On the topic of Beta's I'm ready to release one on 12.01.10, as promised. However I'm seriously considering pushing it back to allow for more substance. I'm unsure right now.

Screens:

Now to explain the screenshots: I know Norah's sprite is just an edit of the Magma grunt but I don't care, I like it. I'm not aiming for a stunning graphical presentation so this will do. The old man with Fuji's sprite is Mr. Kirk, the owner of Gymstone Park where the BCC is held. You can't participate in the BCC until you rescue him. The red head with the goggles is Chrono, your first rival; OW credits to NiKa. His character sprite is a splice made by me, I'll reveal that next time. I'm aware that the Rocket Grunt saying "badass". Yes I know it's a swear; a VERY mild swear. They're Team Rocket so I don't see the issue with them using minor swears, such as "ass" and "damn". The swear won't be anyworse than this.

Damn/Crap/Ass/What the hell are not swears. They are "teenager" words,
that's all. Anyways, Norah's sprite is well made, who cares if she has
the Female Magma Grunt pose?

Anyways, nice updates, and good luck.

Update time!

This update has to be one of my all-time favorites. Today I'm going to introduce the Hero & Heroine.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/Ace.pnghttp://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/ariel.png
These are their official names. Ace & Ariel. I quite like their sprites. Their OW's are not done but the backsprites are being worked on. All of the sprites were done/edited by me. With exception of Lex.

But wait that's not all! As promised, I'm revealiing your rival, Chrono. His last sprite to me was horrible. I like this sprite too.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/Chrono.png

And that's all.....wait I lied. I really didn't like Electra's sprite so I got a new one. Like all of the others these should be fairly recognizable. Also I've decided to reveal the third Gym Leader: Lex. His type is....not telling. I'll reveal that when the beta releases. Speaking of despite college life, I'm progressing rather quikcly, so I may be able to make the December 1st release date. I'm aiming for one more gym (meaning 4 in total) in the First Beta, making it longest Beta i've ever released.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/electra.pnghttp://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/lex.png

I'm really hoping to have this done and ready for release by the first. Wish me luck. I still have no idea how to incorporate the berries into this hack. I'm juggling a few ideas but we'll see. I do hope to have berries in the beta.

I love the update, maybe you should try to make the hero have long leg and more of a skinner body, he look weird re size and like a midget.

Hacks which use Team Rocket as the villain group are my favorite, as of course, Team Rocket forever.

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/backshot-1.png Better?

I come bearing great news from the land of milk and honey. The third gym is in scripted and finished. This gym you can skip if you want. There's nothing stopping you from just plain out skipping it but I don't recomment it since you need four badges before you can head to South Zinnos (Zinnos is split into two islands North and South). The beta does look like it's going to have 4 gyms and will cover everything you can do on North Zinnos before obtaining the Snow Gloves and Gogoggles. In the beta you get to go to the circus and there is another altercation with Team Rocket this time revolving around Eris, Norah's boss. The end of Beta 1 really sets up the plot of Beta 2 which is MUCH more story oriented than Beta1.Allso the Males OW's are done. He isn't wearing a backpack in his OW's and I didn't realize it until it was too late. I'll save that for absoulte last since it's nothing major. The female's OW's aren't done yet but I'm getting there. Oh and of course here are some pretty self-explanatory screenshots. Nothing big really.

Hello all, today is the 12.01.10. I know that I promised that a beta would be released today but I must say that I've decided to push it back. it's nothing major just that it will be released on Friday instead of today. But to be clear the beta is completed. Just waiting to hear back from my beta testers. In the beta there are 4 gyms as stated. alot to do if you just talk to everyone.
I come bearing screenshots of the new (to fire red) trainer classes.

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/waitress.pnghttp://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/waiter.pnghttp://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/cook.png
The waiter and waitresses. The Pokemon they use are ones that would help in a waiting job such as weak psychic types, Aimpom and Pokemon with vines/tentacles/ect. Coks use food related pokemon, or those that can aide in cooking. (Mushrooms/Fire types/Cows).

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/IDOL.pnghttp://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/screens.pnghttp://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/firebreather.png
The clown ands Idols. The idols are named after teen pop stars. They use Pokemon relating to music/sound. The clowns have wacky names and use circus animals. Firebreathers use fire types (obviously). These guys can be fought in the underground circus.

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/prizes.pnghttp://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/arkana.pnghttp://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/ponf.png
These shots are misc. They are from the Crimson Game Corner and the last gym leader, Arkana.

Update
I was amazingly able to stick to the street date for this beta. The new beta is up now! Download the IPS patch and patch it to a clean Fire Red Rom. Now there are some issues with the beta that I gotta announce.
  • The Male OW's are missing the Backpack. This will be fixed in the 2nd Beta.
  • The Female OW's aren't inserted since I am fairly sure nobody would really play with her. They are being worked on and will be in the 2nd Beta.
  • Over 93% of the Rom has been decapitalized, which means there are minor things that are not. (What comes to mind immediately is CENTER and NO THANKS)
  • There may be some run-off text somewhere, but I think I got them all.
  • The intro hasn't been changed yet. That will be fixed for the 2nd Beta.

The beta lasts 4 gyms. After you beat the last leader, Arkana, you can go back and rebattle the other Gym Leaders (though the chance of them wanting a rematch is low) who have altered teams and are MUCH stronger than before with the exception of Arkana who is only slightly stronger. You can also rebattle every trainer after Route 1. Their teams and chance of rebattling you change after the next gym. Any bugs please report here and I'll address them. If the bugs are major I will release and updated patch. Remember the beta IS locked. So don't plan on stealing or looking through anything I have in the ROM. Thanks and enjoy.

This makes me quite happy (especially since my random decision to check this thread again led to me finding the new beta a mere half hour or so after it was posted), as playing the previous beta, I found it to be really enjoyable. I'll play through this new beta, and if I see anything wrong I'll comment. Otherwise I'll just play through and have fun.

Also, congrats on dragging me out of lurking.

Sorry for the double post but I come with an update. I took down Beta 1.0 and replaced it with Beta 1.1

The update fixes some movement errors present in Beta 1.0. It also corrects NPC speech in the hotel in Crimson City where their speech wasn't changed. And some more decapitalization. The most major changes made are the complete revamp of Route 5. Also you will notice that the headbutt trees have been changed into Berry Shrubs. Headbutting trees are still present. You can headbutt the small secondary trees. Also you'll notice some dark spots in the water, that confirms Dive is in. Enjoy the Beta! Let me know if any errors are present.

Nicely done, Quilava. :P I'm still in the spriting business. There are several complaints about the boy sprite, so if you want I could edit that for you.

I'm sorry that's the end of the beta. In the next beta it shows up right after you beat the fourth gym.

Ok, was, it was fun. Although I have no idea what the ??????????? item that gets you underground is yet.

It's a lot closer than you think ;) PM when you think you've found it/

Yay for random tree you can walk through in Aria Town. Gotta watch that Quilava.

How's the game going? :P I love it so far.

2RandomStudios December 12th, 2010 7:49 PM

This seems like it could turn into a great hack! I really like your "theology" that you can have a good hack, without all that fancy tile-insertion. I can't wait for the finished game!

Thanks for enjoying it! I cjust caught that movement error (near the Mart right?) just to warn you there should be one or two more movement errors that I didn't catch in time (route 7 comes to mind). They're nothing major so you can go about the game without em ;)

Thanks means alot. I mean tile-insertion is nice and graphically appealing but I see nothing wrong with the standard tiles to the point wherre I have to have a major overhaul in the tilesets. (I don't feel the same about all of the cave tiles though, those suck XD). And the hack is progressing nicely! Thanks for the support.

:P Oh, and a certain someone is deprived of spriting practice and is super bored, so if you're in need of the next gym sprite or something, lemme know.

About the Beta
Alright folks I come bearing good once again. As usual with a beta release I try not to put up too many updates but it's been about a week and a half so I figure why not. First off I want to thank everyone who downloaded and played the beta. I got a few PM's about issues that needed to be fixed. So I bring Beta 1.3. It's not as drastic a change as 1.0 to 1.1. I fixed some movement permission issues. There shouldn't be anymore but if there are send me a PM please. I also fixed a tile issue that was only present in Beta 1.1. The issue shoes up in Witchville Forest. If it bothers you so much, downoad Beta 1.3. Fixed a house in Crimson City which was oddly lefted untouched. I also fixed a bug that occured in the 4th gym, in which Arkana would never rebattle you.

Enough about Betas
The Male's OW's have been fixed. He now has a visible backsprite. They were completed recently but are NOT in Beta 1.3.They will be, however, in Beta 2.0 (which should drop on or before 03.01.11). The female's OW's aren't happening as fast but they will be in Beta 2.0. Unlike others I have not stopped working on the hack just because I released a beta. I've already added the 5th Gym. And will reveal the leader in a few moments. The rest are misc. screenshots. Some were obviously taken earlier than other, noted by the lack of backpack on the male OWs. Now without further ado, screenshots!

Ending note:
Please report any glitches and/or errors found in Beta 1.3. If need be I will release another update but I think this beta is fairly playable with minimal errors. Enjoy!

sky_queen3 December 19th, 2010 3:01 AM

No, I have the ?????? (however many ?) item, it doesn't do anything though. :( I just get the there's a time and place message. (I'll see if it's fixed in this beta first...)

Vacation

I've taken a slight vacation from hacking. Being that I'm on vacation from College I'm trying to relax. What this means is that I'm still working on Requiem, slowly though. Since the next Beta isn't due out until March 1st, I don't see a need to rush. I will still be on PC so VM/PM me. You can still ask about Requiem and I will still be making changes to the Beta accordingly. Just don't expect any new screenshots or many updates until at least January 20th. Just clarrifying that the updates will be slow but I do NOT want this thread closed.

teejermiester December 27th, 2010 6:42 AM

I really like your ideas about how a hack should be held up by its story, not its features and looks. Plus, I like all the features you put into your hack, like headbutt, underground, and diving. I'll keep an eye on this hack. Keep up the good work, quilava!!

drew6464 December 31st, 2010 11:07 PM

Hey, Quilava, buddy, your new sprites done. Check it out, I PM'd you.
I'm on the really hard forest part! Whoopee! Time to grind my Ralts and Ekans.

Anyone need sprites for their hack, I'm always open. 50 percent of the time. Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the best, but if you want someone extremely reliable you may want to ask Quilava just how many days it takes me to send the sprite.

PatJamma January 1st, 2011 5:38 AM

Ego +1. It's comments like this which push me to do my best! Thank you!

I know I said I was taking a vacation but with the recent snow storm that hit my area I had some free time. I decided that I'm going to release something I like to call Requiem Beta1.0 - Perfect. What this is an update with EVERY bug/glitch fixed. Two things do remain unchanged though. The world map and the intro heroes. This is being worked on and I don't promise they will be done in time. What changes in this update? A WHOLE LOT! Allow me to list them:
Spoiler:
  1. Hero and Heroine have completed OW's. This means Walking/Running/Surfing/FieldUsage/Biking ect. The whole 9 yards.
  2. The bags have been changed to resemble their ingame counterparts. In other words the Bag screen has the Platinum bags for both Trainers.
  3. Route 7 has been completely redone since in Beta 1.0/1.1/1.13 (1.3) it was quite boring. It's definitely better now.
  4. The cave tiles/palettes in Springzone Tunnel have been changed. I like them more now than ever before. Also the third room in the cave has been shortened since in beta 1.0/1.1/1.13 (1.3) it was just big for nothing.
  5. Norah has had her levels altered in Beacon Tower as they were too high!
  6. I fixed the issue with Spinda, in Beta 1.0/1.1/1.13 (1.3) it looked weird.
  7. The fishing guru's text has been fixed.
  8. You can obtain AND use the Itemfinder; in beta 1.0/1.1/1.13 (1.3) you got a ???????? instead of the Item Finder.
  9. The issue with your dad's lab and the lights have been fixed.
  10. A lot of Pokemon had their moves altered to resemble their Gen V selves.
  11. Any gramatical errors have been fixed.
  12. Any movement permission issues have been fixed.
  13. Lex has had his leves altered since he was too strong.
  14. Chrono has had his team slightly altered.
  15. The texbox issue in Mirroredge has been fixed.
  16. A new road block has been devised for Route 7.
  17. Members of Sienna Circus have had their levels altered since they too were too strong.
  18. The intro has been changed.
  19. The Togepi Egg you recieve from your father has its description changed.

The update should come by Wednesday of this week, but be warned. Being that there were so many drastic changes I have changed the game code. What this means is that if you currently have Beta 1.0, 1.1, or 1.13 (Accidentally released as 1.3) you will NOT be able to continue the saved date you have. This is to prevent the game from freezing/crashing and/or creating Bad Eggs. Sorry for any issues this causes but it's all for the better. Just like Betas 1.0/1.1/1.13 you should be on the look out for the following, which are easy to miss:
Spoiler:
  • You can rebattle trainer by talking to them. They won't always want to battle but on occasion will. After a while their teams get stronger.
  • The ghost of Witchville, a Pokemon that only appears on 8 random tiles in the forest.
  • Raikou who is available in the aforementioned Betas. I won't say how but it shouldn't be TOO hard.
  • Obtaining the Good Rod.
  • There are two in-game trades in the Betas. One for Murkrow the other for Skitty.

PerfectRequiem

And it's here people! I forgot that I have to work tomorrow so I won't be able to post the patch. The Perfect Beta is here tonight as a result. There should be no error in this update. Actually there might be a few really small ones but no major ones, I don't think so though. The Beta comes in the form of a .rar file. Which means you need Winrar to unzip it. You must patch it over a CLEAN Fire Red Rom. I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to use a CLEAN rom. You can't patch it to your preexisting Requiem rom. It won't work that way. Also you can't use your previous save file. I've made sure of that. Below are screenshots of major changes in the hack. Finally there won't be another release until 03.04.11. That is when Beta 2.0 comes out. If there are any issues VM/PM me or leave a comment in a this thread.

drew6464 January 6th, 2011 6:44 PM

Noice one. I hope you liked my sprite.

Quilava's Master January 15th, 2011 11:12 AM

Hello people of PC. If you all haven't noticed I haven't been posting updates. This is to allow time for people to download and enjoy Beta 1 (Currently released as Perfect Beta). But rest assured I am working on Beta 2. I'm aiming to finish development on Beta 2 by February 20th and a release is planned for March 4th. I'm not totally sure how many gyms Beta 2 will have but all of the remaining gym leaders have been sprited and their backstories have been made. To save the surprise I've not released any information other than their names. (With the exception on Kera who is th 5th gym leader and is NOT in Beta 1) I head back to college life this week and as such you can expect the updates to start pouring in! Here's what I have for you today: Mud Sport and Water Sport have been changed.

Mud Sport now reduces the speed of all of the opponent by 1. The logic behind that is as follows. Yhe field is covered in mud reducing the speed of the opponent; in a double battle all but the user are affected.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/Mudsport.png

Water Sport now increases the users speed by 2. The logic behind that is as follows. The field is hosed with water, increasing the mobility of the user.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy330/Quilavas-Master/Watersport.png

In other news Water Spout has been renamed Aquapressure. This is so that it can be distributed to other Pokemon (Such as Poliwrath and Blastoise). The effect is still the same. More updates should be expected in the coming week as I continue to work on Requiem.

Edit: It just dawned on me that the Mud Sport and Water Sport changes have been applied to the Perfect Beta! So if you have the Perfect Beta the changes are right there for you to use. If you don't have the Perfect Beta...what are you waiting for?!

Ps: Download the flawless Requiem Beta in the first post! Be one of the 362 to download Requiem!

The beta spans Four gyms. Along with 4 Team Rocket missions and a Cave. About 3-5 hours of gameplay depending on what kind of Trainer you are.

Where in the world is the Card Key? I have spent about half an hour looking for it, and it is frustratingly not being found.

To avoid spoilers I've sent you the answer in a PM. Tenn Tenki I've also sent you a PM answering your question. And to make this post not spam I will reveal the sixth gym leader, Amber, on Thursday. I will also reveal Team Rockets' Commander, which you've heard so much about in game, Eris. Also in the coming release you will realize almost all of the pokemon have new sprites and movesets. I'm debating releasing an update of Beta 1, that would allow you to see these changes. Idk we'll see how the week goes.

Kokowood January 18th, 2011 9:36 AM

I decided to give this hack a whirl, I'm right after the 2nd Gym as I type this. Overall the hack seems pretty good so far, there's nice things here and there and although I don't play too many hacks and don't have much of a ground to base this off of, it seems like it's doing a fair job so far. Somethings I jotted down while playing though;

  • The Drowzee Sprite looks odd, or is it just me?
  • I like the fact that repeated Trainer battles are actually continuous and not one time only, but the fact they always use the same level Pokemon is a bit of a turn off. I'm not sure if there's anything to fix this or if it was intended as such, but just throwing some thoughts on it out there.
  • Is it just me, or is it far too easy to get Paralyzed in this game? It could just be I have horrible luck, but I haven't gone a single paralyze inflicting move that hasn't done its job.
  • The sudden spike in difficulty is both welcomed and a bit annoying. I know you said Squirtle would be the toughest route, which is who I chose, but the sudden spike from lv3 to lv9 enemies, and then lv9 to lv14-16 was a bit of a shocker. This hack is giving me a new hatred for Magnemites I can tell you that much. Hahaha
  • And just a few sprite problems I've noticed; I took a screenshot, but being under 15 posts I can't link it right now, but there's a Berry bush on the route between Gymstone and Mirroredge that can be walked on, and in Electra's gym the generators (?) are cut off. These aren't anything major, just thought I'd point them out.

All in all I'm really liking this hack so far, I'll keep an eye on this and definitely finish up the Beta. I like that in between each Gym, so far at least, there's a little something to do. 2 Rocket events in 2 badges certainly is entertaining. Also major bonus on all the Rockets NOT having the same Pokemon. There's a few similarities here and there, but I'm glad to run into a Rocket and see a bit of mix-up instead of the same team i just faced a battle or two ago.

Poke2011 January 18th, 2011 2:22 PM

i love the idea about the mudsport and water sport but will they still have the previous effects?

lock1234 January 18th, 2011 4:14 PM

Something I noticed: there seems to be a lack of a Surf HM, or I am just completely missing it. Also, the Thunderbolt TM from the Game Corner Prize Store gives you Zap Cannon instead.

I'm not sure if there's anything to fix this or if it was intended as such, but just throwing some thoughts on it out there. They change levels (and typically have slight alterations to their team) after you get the next gym. In other words any trainers you fight before a gym will be leveled up after you beat the gym.
  • Is it just me, or is it far too easy to get Paralyzed in this game? It could just be I have horrible luck, but I haven't gone a single paralyze inflicting move that hasn't done its job. I didn't change any of that so your luck must suck =P I find it too easy to be "immobilized by love" but meh, what can you do about it.
  • The sudden spike in difficulty is both welcomed and a bit annoying. Magnemite is especially hard to take out with Squirtle. Get a Wooper lol.

Thanks for playing. I really hated how Team Rocket was confined to Ratatta and Ekans so I added some different poison-types and dark-types to mix it up a bit.

Nope. Their old effects seemed somewhat moot as the pokemon who learned mudsport where immune to Electr Types anyways. Also the ones who learned Water Sport had a 1/2 resistance to Fire anyways.

Requiem has officially been downloaded over 500 times!

Hello PC. I come bearing new screenshots. 4 of these were revealed last Monday but I have come with more. In these screenshots you see Route 10, Aryd Desert (Route 11), Ouija Town and my newly inserted Worldmap!
The worldmap took FOREVER to insert but I finally got it after reading a tutorial by Haefele. I got it to work quite nicely actually. Also I reworked the system to allow you to Fly everywhere on the Worldmap, (where previously flying from directly from Kanto to the Sevii Islands was impossible). Also the screens showcase your next encounter with Chrono. There is no battle with him at this point. He gives you Go-Goggles (to travel through Aryd Desert and reach Savahna City) and HM04 (Strength). Also you'll notice the Daycare center is situated in Ouija Town.

Beta News
The next Beta will be released on March 4, 2011! Sadly it will only have two more gyms than Beta 1, totaling 6 gyms. In the beta you get three more HM's (Strength, Surf, & Fly). There are 2 more encounters with Chrono and one more with Team Rocket (which is a BIG one). You will also finally get the Bike. Also you will notice in Beta 2 that a few maps have been spruced up as well as heck of a lot of sprite changes, courtesy of Heart Gold & Diamond.

Note: The small circle at the top of the WorldMap represents the four towns in South Zinnos.

Ps: Including the 191 included in the thread, Requiem has totalled over 500 (Total of 503) downloads since December 4th! I wanna say thanks to everyone and hope that Beta 2 can get as loveley a reception as Beta 1!

I only announced the release date because right now Beta 2 is 75% done :)

Yes Chinchou is catchable. It's in Underwater Rotue 1, The Safari Zone and by fishing in the ocean on Route 8. Sorry but you can't get to either of these places yet. Both are available in Beta 2.

I hadn't planned on it but sure why not. But you'll only be able to continue where you left off if you previously played the PerfectBeta.

Google LunarIPS and download it . Then apply the patch onto a clean Fire Red Rom

That means it's time for my weekly update! First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who has been playing this hack for playing and for the positive (well mostly positive) feedback I've been getting. The support and feedback is definitely enough to keep me motivated to finish this hack. Secondly I want to point out a few changes. I changed the name of the routes from the ever cliche Route (insert number here) to something that either sounds cool or coincides with the map layout. Secondly I noticed whilst playing through Beta 1 (for inspiration purposes), that there is a MAJOR lack of sidequests. This has been changed. I've added, so far, about 5 sidequests! Also while plaing Beta 1, I realized that I REALLY hated the way Crimson City came out. So I touched it up and it looks WAY better, in my opinion. While I was doing that I thouched up Akirs Town & Gymstone City. Then, while working on Beta 2, I realized that I was up to the sixth gym and yet the player still had no Bike =/. So I did the logical thing and added the Bike Shop to Shell Harbor City (at the expense of the Battle Berry Shop). Just a small side-mission and BAM! you're mobile. Also I added the PokeCenter and PokeMart songs, from Ruby into the hack. But then I realized the tiles in the Mart didn't go with the new jaunty tune, SO I added the tiles from D/P/Pt to the PokeMart. In other location news, the Safari Zone is done - I think people will be pleased with the available Pokemon. In Sprite news I've changed nearly every Pokemon sprite and changed the available Pokemon to add variety.

Edit: Another feature I put in the hack as kind of a side-thing is dating. It's a little something extra but is definitely worth looking into. Obviously I set into effect the precautions to make them gender specific. In it you have to meet them at a certain place, not unlike a date. Your Boy/Girlfriend does things like buy you items, give you advice and sometimes help you train. There are 3 different people for each gender to date and each one is unique in his/her own way. This also leads me to this next point. I've implemented Swarms in this hack! Swarms are activated when your Boyfriend/Girlfriend tell you about them. Unlike R/S/E/D/P/Pt/HG/SS Swarms won't happen all over the route. Only is specific patches of grass (which is up to you to find). Some Pokemon can only be found during Swarms and the chances of finding a Shiny are increased, only slightly of course. Swarms will end randomly or after five battles with the swarming Pokemon.

Funny as it is, I thought the front view of the Male OW was weird looking.

Anyways it's Thursday. This means another update! I want to expand on the two features I announced Tuesday.

Dating
Spoiler:

There are 7 girls and 7 boys around the game who you can date. However, like in real life, you have to appeal to them. This means you'll need to impress them, whether that be with a lot of badges or having some rare Pokemon. You can only date one person at a time, and trying to date two or more will result in your appeal points with everyone being reset to 0. You'll be told how much your base appeal is [on a scale of 1-10]. With no badges your appeal will be always be 0. In order to get the full effect of the Dating System, you have to get your boyfriend/girlfriend to max appeal [10]. In order to do this is by going on dates. Dates, Gifts, and Completion of Errands get you +1 appeal. Failing to finish Errands, messing up the dates, or getting the wrong gifts earns you -2 appeal. You will also be asked to help them train. Beating them gets you +2 appeal. Losing gets you -3 appeal. Also each girl/boy awards bonus points for doing their missions.
There are three tiers of Bf/Gf's:
Tier 1 boys/girls are easy to get with [meaning they award you a high base appeal points] and easy to make happy [meaning they award you with high bonus appeal points for doing their missions]. The downside to this is that they don't buy you rare items like other tiers and they unlock the Common Swarm category [see below].

Tier 2 boys/girls are of a higher standard. They aren't hard or easy to get with [meaning they award you average base appeal points] and harder to keep happy [meaning they award you with low bonus appeal points for doing their missions]. They buy you useful items but their missions are harder to complete. They activate the Uncommon Swarm category [see below].

Tier 3 boys/girls are the cream of the crop. They are hard to get with [meaning they award you very low base appeal points] and very high maintenance. This means they don't award any bonus appeal points for completing their missions. They almost always buy you rare items (such as Nuggets and Heart Scales which are used for the Move Tutors). They activate the Rare Swarm category [see below].

The Attract Factor: The move Attract, TM45, can be used to boost your appeal. This move can only be used once and will gain you +3 appeal points. Trying to use this more than once will result it -5 appeal points. If your appeal points [AP] are already at 10 and you use Attract, you will be reduced to 5AP. Tier 3 boys/girls aren't affected by Attract as strongly [resulting in only +1AP].

Breakups: You cannot keep a boyfriend/girlfriend who doesn't like you. That said when your AP drop to the danger zone you are at risked for being dumped. The Danger Zone is an AP score of 1-2. At 1-2AP you are at risk for being dumped. If your AP drop to 0 you will be dumped. When you're dumped your AP with that boy/girl is wiped clean and you lose the oppurtunity to activate that category of Swarms. Luckily these girls/boys are forgiving and you can always try to rebuild your AP to 10. It is also possible for you to breakup with a BF/GF voluntarily.

Swarms
Spoiler:

Now for Swarms. Swarms can only be activated by your BF/GF when you have 10AP. Pokemon only Swarm is specific locations on the map. You will be told where to find the Swarm by your BF/GF. The Swarm will go on until your next encounter with your BF/GF. Their are three types of Swarms:

Common Swarm: On every map there is a rare pokemon. This swarm activates the Swarm of that Pokemon, but making them easier to run into. For example Stantler is rare to find in Witchville Forest but a common swarm makes it easier to find.

Uncommon Swarm: This Swarm activates a Swarm of pokemon not typically found on that route. These Pokemon are hard to find throughout the game but with this Swarm makes them easier to find. For example: Magmar is exclusive to Springzone Tunnel but this Swarm makes them easy to run into on Springzone Trail.

Rare Swarm: This Swarm activates Swarm exclusive Pokemon. These Pokemon cannot be caught anywhere else in the game. Some may be found in the Safari Zone but for the most part their impossible to get without the Swarm. For example: Roselia is not found in the wild. This Swarm is the only way to get one. Another example is Bulbasaur, who can only be found in the Safari Zone (they're also pretty rare there), can appear on Marble Hill with this Swarm.

That pretty much sums up two features which as pretty exclusive to this hack. Leave feedback please.

Note:These features probably won't make it into Beta 2 because I'm still working on the Swarm aspect.

I really like the BF/GF concept, as well as the Swarm concept. About Attract though, you mean you can only use it once per battle, once during, or is it sort of an out of battle effect? Other than that, I don't see any flaws; I eager to see what will come of this when it's finally implemented.

Thanks. With the Attract thing I mean as a field move. In battle it functions the same as it usually does.

Update Time
And I'm back with another Tuesday update! This week's 8 screenshots reveal information about the 6th leader, Amber. Also you can see the Blackmist Museum, which contains tiles that I've inserted from R/S/E. As with everything else in this hack, I've put a spin on a few unclarified issues with the canon. And I've updated Electra's gym. Now it uses the floor tiles from Mauville City. Also the color scheme is AWESOME in my opinion. The other gym shown is Blackmist Gym, which has been destroyed by a fire. I'm also revealing another one-off Pokemon, Snorlax. I'll say no more on the subject.

Beta News
I'm still pushing for a March 4, 2011 release. This beta only adds 2 gyms, sorry. But this is where things get serious in the storyline. You meet ther ever elusive Commander Eris of Team Rocket! There are quite a few twists and turns coming your way that I don't want to spoil so I'll say no more. The beta should be done by ther last week of February, and sent out to the Beta Tester's a week before the hack is due to be released. If you would like to beta test, just shoot me a PM. You have to have some credibility to your name though. Also the BF/GF system may not make it into Beta 2. I'm still working on the Swarm system and that's what is stopping me.

I'm really liking this hack, good plot, main characters' sprites are awsome, and the BF/GF system is intresting.

Thank you, I worked hard on this so it's good to see some support!

Update
Sorry I'm late on the Tuesday update. I meant to do it last night but I'm coming down with a cold so yeah =/
Anywho I don't have too many screenshots this time around. Last time I brought a heap load so I thought it would be okay if the screenshots were light today. Last time I showed a screenshot of Ariel & Snorlax. This Snorlax needs the PokeFlute (yes the same one that Red used) to be awoken. It is at level 30. However unlike its Fr/Lg counterpart it isn't enough to merely beat Snorlax. You HAVE to capture it! If you run from it or make it faint it won't go away it will just say "Snorlax tired itself out and fell back asleep" so bring lot's of patience and Pokeballs. I'm debating making all one-off battles like this since it was such a PAIN when you accidentally made it faint.
In addition to the Snorlax event I bring a new and improved World Map! The old map I felt was awkward looking with all of South Zinnos crammed into that tiny circle, not to mention a town dot for Gymstone was missing. I managed to reduce the bulkiness of the region and throw all of south Zinnos in there too!
More information about the BF/GF system + Swarms will come in due time. Again, I have a deadline to make and the Swarm system isn't yet complete so it won't make it into Beta 2 but will definitely make an appearance in Beta 3.
I aim to have Beta 2 finished by Sunday, beta tested and released by Next Friday. This next Beta will end after you escape the Rocket HQ. There are only 2 more gyms than Beta 1 but a little more to do. This Beta serves as a tune-up to Beta 1 with every error fixed. But of course with every new release comes errors. So I updated the first post with the new errors in Beta 2.

Edit: Send me a PM if you want to Beta Test for Beta 2. I have 4 already and a couple more wouldn't hurt.

I really can't find the entrance to the underground/Sienna Circus/gambling corner or whatever it is :s It's really frustrating as I find the hack itself pretty good :p
