Staff --> Not a request?

Why aren't we allowed to post staff requests? i find that annoying, and it makes the webmaster section almost useless.

With the already strict rule of one thread on your site a week, its not like we would get flooded with staff threads anyway.

Eliana November 24th, 2004 1:12 PM

Well, to be clear cut-
Its not our choice.
However, they did consider Mod Requests. It never happened though. Dont worry, the mods know who mods should be ^^;;.

Morkula November 24th, 2004 1:22 PM

I know- that rule is pretty annoying. I could see the affy requests getting cut, but this forum is almost dead now except for hosting/layout requests and the occasional advertisement. :(

イマクニ? November 24th, 2004 1:22 PM

well... when vroad closes, azsupra t will lose power... so maybe we can have the rule repealed...

pokejungle November 24th, 2004 1:23 PM

To clarify...~

I meant if you want staff for you website! =P

イマクニ? November 24th, 2004 1:31 PM

yeah... i know... thats what i meant.

Claire November 24th, 2004 1:32 PM

AZ is staying an admin, and will probably keep his site open.
We have that rule because otherwise ppl just join PC to ask for staff, and the forum would be overrun with ppl asking for staff, and push down threads where members need genuine help.
The only thing i could think of (although its not really my place to say) is to have a single sticky thread where sites can say which staff they need, but that may again be affected by people joining PC just to get staff..

pokejungle November 24th, 2004 1:42 PM

I like that idea. Us members of PC need these threads. Seriously.

Arcanine November 24th, 2004 1:47 PM

The best way I can think of is just send a PM to an S-Mod or up and have them bring it up to the other staff to talk about that member.

Or have what DF said, start a sticked thread.

Claire November 24th, 2004 1:52 PM

Andy, we're talking about staff for websites, not staff for PC, ya know that, right? ^^;

pokejungle November 24th, 2004 1:53 PM

Well, can one of the mods sticky it.

I sure can't!

*Smacks his head* this is why I don't go to WD that much. XD

Well I think a sticked thread or PMing the owner of the site would be ok.

aRedMoon November 24th, 2004 3:54 PM

Trust me - me and JA hate that rule, but Casey is admin, and will stay admin, so we can't do anything about it. :/

The best bet would be to PM him and talk it over. :/

Thomas November 24th, 2004 8:45 PM

I think the rule is fine. How come you cant just keep up the site by yourself?

Claire November 25th, 2004 7:52 AM

Amphros, when a site grows it becomes difficult to manage alone, so staff are great to have :\
I'm neutral about mah 'staff request sticky' theory -has good and bad points
I've PMed AZ about it, so we'll wait and see what happens ^^

Well, I found it annoying when the same people flood page after page with staff requests week after week. If you really think about it;
Where would be the best place to ask for staff?
Awnser is simple: YOUR SITE.

If you want truely dedicated staff, you would want staff who visits your site on a regular basis, not just somone you found on a message board who probabally posts the same news for 5 other different sites.

Those are the 2 main reasons I made that rule. But most importantly was because half of the threads were begging for staff threads(most of which had 0 replies). I made the rule to help organize PC a little more, If you dont like it, I really am sorry but this is how it is.

PS: Who needs staff anyways? (I do like 98% of the work on VR) ;)

EDIT: Read DF's PM and made a sticky

aRedMoon November 25th, 2004 8:25 AM

Yay~ Casey replied. ^o^

True, true, those can get annoying. But banning them all together was quite drastic. :/

*cries* I know... ;_; *sees my -staff- posting the same thing everywhere and cries*

They're nice when your computer dies. ;)
