If I can just soft reset to get a shiny Churine than I don't have to rely on luck hunting for a shiny Monmen.

I don't think you can get a shiny from an in-game trade. Everything is already pre-determined besides the shiny-ness which is dependent on whether or not your Pokemon is shiny. :(

Really? I was wondering about this because I remember I could get a different gender via an in-game trade everytime I soft reset.

Sammuthegreat September 28th, 2010 4:32 AM

There's a few shiny versions that in my view look better than the originals:

Pendoraa - truly the best shiny this generation in my opinion
Erufuun
Kurimugan
Kuitaran
Urugamosu
Terakion - he needed a bit of colour

Funnily enough I really like the normal colourations of all the above Pokemon anyway. In fact I plan to use all 6 in teams at some point. I think most of the other shinies are either:

Better but so similar it makes little difference (Daikenki, Abagoora, Denchura, Kobaruon)
So similar it makes no difference either way (Jaroda, Yanakki, Baokki, Hiyakki)
Different and a lot worse, so no thanks (Ononokusu, Warubiaru, Gigaiasu, Doryuuzu)

Also, Wargle's shiny is awesome - but the original design was so awesome it'd be impossible to mess it up :)

Turnabout September 30th, 2010 11:07 AM

Ahhh, I have to say I'm quite content with this gens shinies. And there's plenty I'd love to own. Still disappointed with Reshirams and Zekroms though.

I've always wondered though... what decides the shiny's colouration?
I've always assumed they had a set "pattern" for creating shinies, but I really don't know.
Do they really decide each pokemon's alternate colouration individually? :/ Because it bugs me that some shinies are so hideous... @[email protected];;

King Gumball September 30th, 2010 5:35 PM

Hmm.. I was thinking. Do you guys think they added in a new technique to find shinies eaier, like similar to those foreign breeding techniques, and the pokeradar? I hope there is a new meathod that you can use in the Dream World.

The Masuda Method will probably return.

I certainly hope it does, not that I ever really used it, but for others sake.

KaosDoom September 30th, 2010 9:12 PM

I'm SRing for shiny Zekrom. Been like a week so far and probably estimated of over 4800 Zekroms seen from SRing and running away method combined.
I may go for shiny Victini next after beating the game.

Dragonika October 1st, 2010 5:02 AM

Once you get the national dex is it possible to obtain the national dex pokemon in shiny also X) ?

Yes of course. You just need the national dex to get access to Pokémon apart from generation 5

Blastin'Tyruntz October 1st, 2010 7:09 AM

Victini's shiny looks sick. I really want a shiny, but I already caught my regular one. Level 46. :)

Holy Flying Spaghetti Monster in heaven... I think I just caught myself the pink version of the battle pony Birijion! My first legendary shiny ever!

But why, oh why has this shiny to be pink?!

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire October 2nd, 2010 3:30 PM

Abagoora's shiny version just awesome :D!

T'was very random indeed. In fact, it was so sudden that I jumped out of my chair when I saw that hideous pink.

But what really freaked me out was when I trained said pink Birijion and this shiny Reparudasu jumps out of the tall grass.
Just look at this beauiful fur she has... much better than the normal colour palette of this pokemon.

What a day... the last time I encountered two shinies at the same day was in Pokemon Saphire if memories serves right.

LOL the last time I ever found a shiny was like more than a year ago and I have only foound 3 in total. Hopefully my luck will be as good as your when I get the game. Congrats on the shiny sexy leopard too :)

mineowyn October 3rd, 2010 2:11 AM

Can someone tell me how a shiny Victiny is cuter than the normal Victiny?

http://veekun.com:81/dex/media/black-white/shiny/494.pnghttp://veekun.com:81/dex/media/black-white/494.png

I don't get it. My sister insists I catch a shiny Victiny because the colour scheme is "better". I think the normal Victiny's colour scheme is more natural.

I think most shinies look unnatural bar a few exceptions.

Jerpy October 3rd, 2010 5:15 AM

A lot of the new shinies look like their made from candy...! :D
Very different array of colours in pastel-like tones... Love 'em!

Yeah...the tan one complements the orange-red, IMO... But the shiny does evoke the feeling of peppermint candy...sorta... :\

chanchimi October 4th, 2010 3:58 PM

I actually like the Shiny Victini more.... But I suppose that that is because Red/White is my favorite color combination.

ScentedLove October 4th, 2010 5:55 PM

Right now I'm soft reseting for a shiny tsutaja I'm only at 2000. I agree I like the shiny Victini more.

The Red Chain October 4th, 2010 6:28 PM

Well the one shiny I have right now is Shiny Tsutaaja. <33
Was a pain to get too! D<

It's pretty much the only shiny I wanted next to Doreida and Rankurusu.
I want Shiny Victini too for the value more than than colors myself. I think I'd want it more for colors if Victini had blue where it's red/orange is, but I still like the shiny nevertheless! :3

Boarbeque October 6th, 2010 3:49 AM

I found a shiny pokemon before. I didn't realize it was a shiny because it didn't really look that different compared to it's regular sprite. I knocked it out.

zapdosa October 6th, 2010 5:11 AM

Ononokusu and Zoroark's shinies are by far the best imo.

Surmonter October 6th, 2010 4:57 PM

Began to hunt for a Shiny Zoroa today through hatching. I traded over an English Ditto with hopes the Masuda Metod was still in the game. So..hopefully it is. I also have it knowing Dark Pulse, since the parent Male Zoroa has it from breeding my female Zoroark with a Weavile.

If you're curious how I got an English Ditto, I traded a Ditto from my English HG to my friend's Japanese HG, who then transfered the Ditto to her Black then traded me it. She also did that with my Shiny Leafeon, Treecko, event Entei for Zoroark, and event Celebi for Zoroa.

In exchange I gave her a Shiny Squirtle.

Egg count: 5

Shinyb-ball October 7th, 2010 5:25 PM

How many shinies do you have?

Just as the title says, or post your first shiny in B/W
Mine was the one and only pants pokemon Zuruggu.

I just got traded a shiny Fushide, I guess I could add that to my list of 2 shinies now lol

Ho-Oh October 7th, 2010 5:36 PM

Meeerged with shiny discussion, where you can discuss shinies you own, too.

123wert50 October 8th, 2010 7:09 AM

1. Ya, 1. I'm just that epic. I have a whole 1 shiny. I bet your jealous right? Ya you are. XD

Livewire October 8th, 2010 7:23 AM

If I decide to Matsuda/SR for a shiny, I'm getting a shiny Hitomoshi or Gamgerouge (Blue Frog thing) They're awesomely colored shinies. :D Zoroark is pretty awesome too.

ScentedLove October 9th, 2010 11:59 AM

I just found a shiny koromori that I'm going to probably going to trade.

RainRaikou October 9th, 2010 1:14 PM

Emboar looks very demonic in his shiny form but its odd that i dont like the non shiny form.

pokewalker October 10th, 2010 5:56 AM

I found a shiny Tamagetake today at route 10 today. I was VERY happy :D

Yono October 13th, 2010 5:46 PM

Yesterday, I was training one of my Pokemon for a team, when I came across a Shiny Kurumiru and caught it in an Ultra Ball(all I had at the time).

He's Brave and has the Chlorophyll ability. :)

Zelda October 15th, 2010 2:27 PM

http://i54.*.com/k0k6wz.png

After making a theme out of Bachura, I decided to take a look at its shiny form and see how well it is compared to its non-shiny form. I prefer Bachura's regular appearance as these colors are dull. I do like how the eyes and feet color that differ from yellow, change from blue to purple. Although it isn't a poison type and this color would give you that vibe, it makes sense as some spiders are poisonous. I am happy however, that we have our first spider that isn't part poison type. Aside from it being suitable for a spider, the purple doesn't really go well with the yellow and makes it all the more dull. :(

Amai October 17th, 2010 4:23 PM

I agree, its normal colors are vibrant and nice. Its shiny colors are dull.

I have began to hatch for a Shiny Munna via the Masuda Method.

At 30 eggs. Hurray for only taking 1000 steps to hatch with Flame Body in front. ^__^

----

EDIT: OH MY GOD! I JUST HATCHED A SHINY MUNNA ON THE 36TH* EGG! OMFG! OMFG! OMFG

I am so excited, you have no idea. Really. Omg. Recorded it on video. OMG FIRST SHINY IN BLACK WHITE! AND ONLY TOOK AN HOUR!

It has Forewarn (worst possible ability) and is Jolly (worst possible nature) but who cares? It's SHINY! <3 <3 <3

Zennerick October 17th, 2010 5:52 PM

404 OH NOES

For the record, in case no one has said it, the link in the first post gives an "404 Error" now.

Ho-Oh October 17th, 2010 5:57 PM

Thanks for telling us, but unless your post relates directly to shinies, it's not needed. Just PM or VM one of us next time.

MY FAVOUITE SHINY OF ISSHU!!!

Congrats and, only on 60 eggs. I am really, really jealous at the moment >.<

I just love of it is so balloon like (shiny), and the green flowers look so cool. I love how it floats around in the video you took. So cute <3

Ho-Oh October 18th, 2010 12:55 AM

Shiny Munna actually looks better than non-shiny Munna. XD; But wow, only about 60 eggs? That's pretty good for a shiny (I think?) I so want a shiny Denchura for my first when I get to play next yeaaar.

King Gumball October 18th, 2010 1:14 AM

@ Amai-- Did you use the Masuada method to get the Munna? that is breeding a Japanese Munna/Musharna and a foreign Munna/Musharna together?

It is good, although it's not that rare to happen with the Masuda Method I believe. Thank you ^_^

Well, foreign Munna and Musharna do not exist yet. I did however get an English Ditto by trading it to my friend's Japanese Heart Gold, who then transfered it to her Pokemon Black, then traded it back to my Pokemon White since transfering doesn't work with English games if Black/White is Japanese.

But yes, I used the Masuda Method.

I am going after Tsutarja now ^__^

Edit: Just realized Munna was the 36th egg, not the 66th. I was being stupid, my box names confused me I thought the second box started at 60, but it ends at 60 making my shiny on the 36th egg. Sorry for being stupid ^_^;

I will never be that lucky again. :(

King Gumball October 18th, 2010 9:55 PM

@Amai- Oh sorry, I meant foreign Ditto XD

@Kaori- I actually like the shiny Bachura more than normal. I think the purple eyes look like little amethysts, making it heaps cuter <3

Amai October 19th, 2010 2:54 AM

I think the dull-colored Bachura should have been the normal one. The brighter yellow and blue eyes seem like shiny colors to me.

I don't like the dull yellow though. I like the purple eyes.

At 60 eggs with Tsutarja. I am going to start breeding it with Egg moves now. I want it to have Iron Tail and Glare, so what I have to do is:

Male Agron w/Iron Tail -- Female Gible
Male Gible w/Iron Tail -- Female Seviper
Male Seviper w/Iron Tail and Glare -- Female Tsutarja

Male Tsutarja w/Iron Tail and Glare -- Ditto

Ho-Oh October 19th, 2010 5:08 AM

Well... BachuLock looks nice as a normal coloured Bachura and the (whatever program Erica showed last night) one from that program last night was adorable and pretty, so... I dunno, I think now I'm used to the normal colouring of Bachura, that the shiny one, you'd expect more. So really, I think the normal Bachura is fine, but the shiny one needed improvement, idk.

#Emochu October 19th, 2010 9:52 AM

Rainbow-Sasuke October 19th, 2010 10:49 AM

The worst shiny is Gigaisu. It is the most fail colour scheme ever!

All these posters sure are getting lucky, then. :cer_laugh: I hope there are easier ways to encounter Shiny Pokemon other than the proposed Masuda Method, though, like chaining with the PokeRadar... Or at least raise the shiny encounter rate to a tolerable level! :P

Amai October 20th, 2010 2:34 AM

Personally, I think the Shiny Rate is fine the way it is.

Makes them more special when you find one.

Sydian October 20th, 2010 8:00 AM

It's gonna suck if I encounter a Pokemon I've never seen and I don't notice the sparkle and I just kill it accidentally. But no, I haven't found a shiny in White yet. Maybe soon? :)

Not really. They're different animals (although this can be debated), and they're not the same colors, unless you consider light green yellow and pink purple.

Rankurusu October 21st, 2010 5:47 PM

According to bulbapedia they are both based on the Baku, a mythical dream eating tapir. But I agree they are different Pokemon

LOL I thought Drowzee was an Anteater.

I dont think their shiny look that alike. Munna is too pink for Drowzee's mouldy pink colour. I love Munna shiny a million times more.

Zelda October 22nd, 2010 3:02 AM

Munna's and Drowsee's shiny form don't have much of a similarity, but Munna's evolution does have a bit in common with Drowsee. Perhaps not in shiny form but compared to Drowsee's shiny form and Musharna's non-shiny form, they look very much alike.

http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite/pokemon/518.pnghttp://img408.imageshack.us/img408/4443/spr4d096s.png

Not the best of pink, but the flow of curved lines on their stomachs and the way they have two colors for their body from the curved lines match. Drowsee has a more duller look to Musharna however.

I like Munna's shiny form though. The pleasant use of green, pink, and light yellowish-green mix together well to represent the floral and attractive look. :3

Porygon Z October 22nd, 2010 3:38 AM

Denchura... Not too much different, but I love the Shiny one! http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/shiny/596.png

Enbuoh... I think it's the most horrible colour combination! http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/shiny/500.png

But, man, two Shinies I love are Sazandora and Waruvial. The first is green and black, the second brown and gold. I love them man! http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/shiny/635.png http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/shiny/553.png

I agree, the colours are pretty awful, but it's probably because of the blue not clashing with the orange so well, i'd rather have the orange be white. o:

Ho-Oh October 22nd, 2010 6:21 AM

Really? The first time I saw it, I was like "omg wow these colours are pretty awesome", I dunno, I like how it's opposite to real flames, as in how flames can be blue and yellow (I forgot what exactly blue flame does but it's representative of something!)

I just think the colouring of that Pokemon are one of the best of Isshu.

I know! Enbuoo's normal coloration is awesome enough, but its shiny variant evokes freaking blue fire! :cer_love: If the ability Blaze was ever depicted in sprite form, it would be red Enbuoo gradually glowing and intensifying its power, until its fire begins to burn as hot as blue fire (shiny Enbuoo), resulting in a substantial power increase. Then it would commence to kick butt with pretty blue flames. :D

^ Just a note for the future, try to not always post your egg count, unless it's at a large number like 1000, or every 500, instead, just discuss shinies in said post and put your egg count on the bottom and that's fine. :) (Otherwise people could get the impression of just posting to increase your post count, or something along those lines).

That'll probably occur in the third game, so we could have a blue one with animation like that. :D Actually I think when I get the games I want to SR for a shiny Pokabu due to the awesome colouring.

Are you serious? But the shiny is pink lol, that is the down side to a new gen then, it is hard to distinguish between the normal sprites and the shiny.http://veekun.com/dex/media/black-white/shiny/554.pnghttp://veekun.com/dex/media/black-white/554.pnghttp://veekun.com/dex/media/black-white/back/shiny/554.pnghttp://veekun.com/dex/media/black-white/back/554.png The back shiny sprite is adorable <3 I would never evolve it, ever. You are lucky that you caught it then :)

An animation like the one I described possibly being in the third version of BW would be pretty nice to see! :cer_nod: I intend just to get the normal-colored Enbuoo as my starter, though. It looks menacing and utilizes the common red-orange color of fire (and plus SR-ing for a shiny one would take quite a long time, probably). Furthermore, Enbuoo's shiny color looks like one that shouldn't be seen often; instead, it seems like a coloration that should be reserved for a special event (such as during the activation of the Blaze ability).

I think you can easily mistake a Shiny one for a normal one if you've never seen it before. I've done that before in past games.

I have 360 hatched Tsutarjas, and 60 eggs in my boxes to hatch. Maybe I will get lucky :3

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire October 24th, 2010 12:40 PM

I have to say that shiny Kibago is quite awesome but it's final form shiny form isn't my favorite shiny

Shiny Ononokusu reminds me of shiny Charizard and Rayquaza.

While Doryuuzu is one of my favorite B/W Pokemon, its shiny form is horrible, IMO:

I haven't seen Doryuuzu's shiny until now, but I have to agree. The dark pink/red and blue don't flow together and much less, fit it's design all that well. It's pretty bland but I guess what they wanted to do for it was switch the reddish-pink zigzags on it's body to blue, whilst having the fill with the original (reddish/pink) zigzag color. I do however, prefer the non-shiny form as well. ;(

O_o Now THAT'S determination.
I've never been lucky with shinies (the only shiny I own atm is a shiny Bidoof T_T). But I really hope I can find at least ONE shiny whenever I get Pokemon Black. :3

Amai October 24th, 2010 4:40 PM

Y'all are crazy! I love Doryuuzu's shiny. :( It's so flashy! <3

It is? o: I feel so proud now! :3

I am now at 450 eggs, I will have to release all the Tsutarja at 570. :(

Whaaaat? You should give 'em out to people or something. xD
But those are a lot of Tsutarja. O_o

Amai October 27th, 2010 10:51 AM

I've decided that after every 600 eggs I will alternate Pokemon.

If I get to 600 with Tsutarja (at 570) I will release all the Tsutarja and start on Chobomaki.

Sydian October 27th, 2010 11:17 AM

I found a shiny Fushide today. :) First BW shiny. I wasn't supposed to find it, actually. I just got tired of using Repels while looking for where Virizion was.

His name is Bwchv! :D

http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/2/22/Spr_5b_543_s.png

Not the prettiest shiny I've ever found, but when the final result is:

http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/b/b8/Spr_5b_545_s.png

I feel a lot better! ;)

dyenguard October 27th, 2010 4:31 PM

does anyone know how to get a shiny riolu or lucario without using hacks or cheats? it seems impossible lol

Greenbeans October 27th, 2010 4:34 PM

Oh congrats, the final evo is awesome in shiny!

Ho-Oh October 27th, 2010 10:42 PM

Fushide looks better than the final evo in shiny imo (and hey, the colouring even looks better than the non-shiny sprite).

I like Fushide's shiny colouring better than the non shiny colouring. The Shiny form makes it look cute strangely and more bug like IMO.

Ho-Oh October 27th, 2010 11:17 PM

Mhmmm, I think that should be the normal colour scheme for it, though it technically does look "shiny" in a golden way :(

It reminds me of chocolate. I really want a shiny one now to call chocolate. If the English version allows more character limits.

The final evo looks more evil, but less poisonous. It actually makes it look a bit like a fire type. I like how intimidating those contrasted bright blue rings are too. Makes me wonder why the black rings on its little baby evo are not contrasted...

Ho-Oh October 27th, 2010 11:25 PM

I dislike it. The red and aqua just doesn't suit and blue looks much better on Emboar, who, as implied, actually is a fire type. :(

Logiedan October 27th, 2010 11:47 PM

I disagree. ):
Pendoraa's shiny colours are more contrasting than it's original sprite and it really does show off the circle/oval patterns and everything. I like it more than Fushide's colours.

Ho-Oh October 27th, 2010 11:49 PM

Oh, I meant in general. I dislike the colours overall for it, shiny or not. It might just be about how the body is drawn though, it just looks awkward. Maybe if the red was lighter? It just seems like a candy cane, or something :(

Logiedan October 27th, 2010 11:56 PM

Haha, it's hard to picture it as a candy cane but I guess I understand. ;P
I'm loving Crimgan's colours.
http://veekun.com/dex/media/black-white/shiny/621.png

They made a great choice with clashing the saturated, bright yellow and green really makes it ideal.
The colours sort of remind me of Bowser and the game, Bowser's Inside Story.

Ho-Oh October 28th, 2010 1:47 AM

I dislike those colours together. D:
...though it does look better than the normal sprite.

Something about yellow and green looks just wrong to me (do note that I dislike Crimgan as a whole, anyway, so it's tough finding things I like about it).

Plus, it just doesn't look shiny? It looks like a normal Pokemon, rather than a shiny, if you're basing off first impressions.

Hmm, it reminds me of nachos for some reason. :/ Don't ask how. xD

Still, it's a pretty interesting Shiny Pokemon.

I recently hatched a Shiny Kibago when clearing out leftover eggs in the PC and came across it.

Ho-Oh October 29th, 2010 7:03 AM

You hatched a shiny Kibago and didn't know? Woooow. That's so lucky. XD

When the games come out here I want a shiny Kibago.

The Pendoraa shiny is one of my favorite shinies of Gen V. :D The only thing I would change is some of the blue to yellow. Admittingly, the original coloration isn't bad, as it actually made a (hot) pink Pokemon look cool.

Eh...I really dislike the color combination for Crimgan's shiny variant. It looks like a strange grass Pokemon with claws with mustard poured on it. :(

I don't like the original blue-and-red coloration either; it reminds me way too much of Salamence... (who is a Dragon-type, no less :cer_no:) I had envisioned Crimgan adopting a cooler color scheme, such as incorporating black in its color scheme to replace either red or blue, similar to the sprites of these Pokemon:

Not really. In nature, bright colors like red and blue are very common on extremely poisonous animals. If anything, the shiny form looks more poisonous.

Hmmm true, but I just thought that it looks more like a fire type rather than a poison type, probably because in pokemon Purple is almost always assossiated with a poison type.
