Are you picky about your team members?
I guess I'm a little picky. I have to always have a Fire, Water, or Electric Pokemon...or at least someone who can learn Flamthrower, Surf, and Thunderbolt and be decent with it. And I usually go for fast Pokemon that look slender. I feel uncomfortable when I have large Pokemon (Blastoise, Venusaur, and Torterra, I'm looking at you). And I don't like having too many defensive Pokemon either. Umbreon is an exception, since it's my favorite, haha. Oh, and once I have my six members, I don't change them. Very rarely have I changed my party, or raised something and then decided to scrap it. It usually only happens when it's my first time playing a new region (so it'll probably happen to me in BW).
|
Not usually. When I first play through a new game, I just pick ones I like based on their sprite. Then when I play through another time, that's when I pick out ones that I think will be good for a competitive team. And if I'm playing through one like Ruby for the 400th time just so I can get something to migrate over, I try and pick ones I've never used before.
|
I tend to be picky, yes. I only really like to have my favourites in my teams. And then when I feel like replacing one (I love my PKMN y'know) I feel bad and it takes me ages to decide.. xD; I don't really know what I'm going to be like by the time B/W comes around.
|
Uhm, somewhat. My team has to be made of cute/cool looking Pokemon and I'm dead serious. I've stopped my starter from evolving into its final stage because it was ugly *cough* Torterra *cough*
|
I guess so. I'll NEVER have two attacking moves of the same type EVER! I'll never have two pokemon of the same type either, escept for Shoddy and PO. so, if you want to call me picky, that;s fine. But personally, I don't think I'm too picky!
|
Yes. I like my Grass, Fire and Water. I choose Pokemon I like. I dump only HM Slaves. I try to train more than 6 Pokemon I like (after Elite 4).
|
Oh sure. I never have two Pokemon in my team that are the same type. Except when I do a monotype team.
And I like checking out my team's base stats before I make them to make sure there isn't one that's far more/less powerful than the others. |
I prefer the beauty and gracefulness of Pokemon. So no cute Pokemon, no ugly Pokemon, no 'cool' Pokemon. I like to use naturally beautiful Pokemon such as Gardevoir, Linoone, Milotic and Dragonair.
I once did a run with Pokemon that I'd never used before, I have a new found respect for Vileplume, Huntail and Drapion now, even if they aren't the prettiest of monsters. |
My in-game teams are always constructed of 1 grass-, 1 fire-, 1 water-, 1 electric-, 1 flying-, and 1 ground-type pokemon. If I manage to get overlap between those six types, the last spots go to whatever dark/poison/ghost/bug tickle my fancy. XD
|
I guess I'm quite picky. One condition I have for my team members is there shouldn't be multiple Pokemon with the same type. An exception would be when two Pokemon have the same type, but they are dual typed and the second types don't match. I also usually pick Pokemon that can evolve (the only exception I can think of being Heracross... so far), though I can't really explain why. I suppose it could be because I (still) get excited whenever a Pokemon evolves? :B
|
Yes, I'm picky. I always need a grass type on the team, I tend to avoid HM Slaves, and I always need some Pokémon that could learn HMs in a useful way, not just for outside. Additionally, I try to add in Pokémon that I like better than others, so for example, if Skitty or Purugly (I hate them, no offense) or whatnot had all 999s for its stats, I still wouldn't put it in my team. So yeah, that's how picky I am.
|
Well, I always keep my starter to the end. I also usually grab an electric type, and a flying type. I go with pokemon that I love, like Misdreavus and Ralts and Starmie. I love special attacks.
|
Me too. I keep my starters toward the end of the game. I just changed my team to an awesome ou team. Unfortantly my team isn't finished yet.
|
I am very picky. I chose from a list of my favorites, and there can not be two of the same type on my team. And if I can, try to get a few pokemon with two types.
i can care less about stats and things, but I always plan my team around the gyms and the elite four. That's just so I can have at least one pokemon with a type or a move that is super effective against the opposing team. It seems to work for me. However, as of recent, every team I have ever used have been basically the same pokemon. I even traded my Platinum team to HeartGold, haha. But basically here's how my team usually is: Grass type Water type/might have a psychic move if it can learn it, like golduck for example. Electric type Ice type/learn psychic if it can Fire type Flying And usually my pokes learn moves like bite or other non-same type moves just in case. I really dislike using any type of dragon and ground pokemon on my team. Don't know why I dislike ground so much, I guess it's because I love water a lot and I feel like ground sucks except compared to an electric type. Dragons? I hate the whole lot of them. I don't like having an over powerful team. And they not eye pleasing to me either, except for the first two forms of the Dragonite family. |
Oh God yes. I HAVE to have Pokemon who have different colors. If any one Pokemon is the same color as another on my team, I get rid of the one I like least. Also, a Pokemon where Attract would be appropriate for it. Like Bellossom or Gardevoir. I need cute Pokemon, no matter what. Also, one Pokemon that specializes in each stat. Like Sunflora for Sp.atck, Feraligatr for Atck, Aggron for Def, etc etc.
I am a VERY picky person for Pokemon. |
Oh, yes. I am EXTREMELY picky about my team. X_X
I'll just list examples of the pickiness. x3 1. Must have 3 males and 3 females (NO GENDERLESS POKEMON) 2. Can't have the same personality or characteristic (whatever the second thingy is xD) 3. Can't be of the same type (even if it doesn't share any weaknesses) 4. Must always have nicknames, and the nicknames can't start with the same letter (stupid, I know x33) 5. All team members must have at least ONE non attacking move (like a Defense lowering move, status changing move, etc.) 6. Each team member must have at least slightly different colors (I like a colorful team, y'know? :B) 7. Each team member must specialize in different stats (like one speedy Pokemon, defensive Pokemon...) 8. Must ALWAYS have a flyer Pokemon and a surfing Pokemon (I don't do HM slaves) And that's pretty much it... I can be very picky. xD |
I am quite fussy about my team:
|
I'm picky about my Pokemon team. These are the main criteria:
-Must be male, if possible; only will accept females if it takes a while to find a male with good stats/ability, has a higher female ratio, or the species is female exclusive -Starter stays on the team no matter what. -No HM slaves -HM moves are to be distributed among team members |
I'm a little picky, I guess.
I always keep my starter unless I'm doing a challenge. If I think a Pokemon looks boyish, it has to be a male. If it's girlish, it has to be a girl. I always have a member who can Fly, and a member who can Surf. The other HMs I don't care about. :P I always like to use a variety of types, and I want to like the way every team member looks. The only exception is if I'm going through and specifically using Pokemon I've never used before. I never use legendaries or pseudo-legendaries on my in-game teams. |
I'm picky in a different way. If I want a said pokemon, and to me that pokemon looks girly, I have to wait for ages till I can catch a girl. Similar things when it looks like a boy, I have to wait till I catch a boy. This is why I like the fact that most starters are male, cus to me, most of the starters look like they should be guys.
|
Whenever I make a team, there cannot be two or more Pokémon of the same type (unless they have useful secondary types), and I generally make it so that I have at least one super-effective move for each type on my team, and I am resistant to as many types as possible. I'll always have a ground-type Pokémon or a Pokémon with a ground type move to defeat electric types.
I think that's about it. |
I think that the main thing that excludes certain PKMN from my team is evolution. If it doesn't evolve, I won't use it; it just really bugs me for some reason. Oh, and I always have to have a member who can Surf and one who can Fly; I use a slave for anything else I may need.
I've used a Gengar since Red; but he's been the only constant in my team. I only ever have one team, but every gen I change at least one PKMN out. Its usually one that I wasn't too happy with anyway, or one that didn't feel quite right in my team, and gets replaced when I find something better. In Red, I did worry about type spread, so I ran a mixed team (fire, water, ground, electric, flying, etc.). But as of Platinum, I was able to run a split team of Ghost/Dark, waiting for the day to come when I could finally run a mono-Ghost team. Needless to say, as of B/W, I'm pretty much set forever =D |
I'm seriously picky, but one point is the most important - only speedy attackers. no slow pokes, and no defensive ones.
|
Very, I don't care if my Pidgeot/Entei get completely destroyed by every second Pokemon, they look awesome and therefore they are on my team :).
Same as real life really, if you are ugly/fat I won't hang around you :p Joking of course. |
Yeah, I guess. I need to have a fire, water, electric, and psychic type not matter what. The other two, I really do not care about, though.
|
I just like to have a mixture of types.
|
I generally don't worry about Types or general qualities of the Pokemon I put on my teams. So long as I have at least a Surfer (which is of course always Water-Type) I'm fine. Fliers are nice, too. My main thing is every time I play through a game I use Pokemon I've never used before. And I hafta at least sort of like the design. That's usually not a problem as there are only a very small handful of Pokemon I really dislike.
Otherwise it doesn't matter much. I'll happily use a team of less than six, or a team with grossly unbalanced Types. 8D;; |
I've been into fire types since gen 1, I also like electric types. but to get through the game I use a pretty diverse group to cover all the hms and strengths/defenses. but once I beat red and get the pokemon in the hidden tower. This time around I've developed a whole new appreciation for Eevee's evolutions.
|
I'm extremely picky about my team members. They have to have good designs and solid attacks. Usually they have to be physical attack oriented too. |
I do my research beforehand and choose a party of 6 based mostly on base stats. Afterwards I look for the Pokemon I want with the ability I want, beneficial nature, and preferably female for breeding purposes. Takes me hours to find a single Pokemon most of the time. D: Typing is generally less of a deal for me. As long as I have decent coverage and no universal weakness, then I'm fine with doubling up on types.
|
I have a horrible habit of sticking to the ones I know best (EG. Golem, Alakazam, Articuno, Raichu, you get the idea).
My preference is fast or strong pokemon, whilst trying to make sure I go first (It's why I try to base my battles on paralysing them over most other statuses, maybe add confusion if I can to it). It's a bit of a horrible habit, as it leaves me a bit one dimensional when battling. If I see others that look very good however (Be it stats wise or in battle videos), then I'll train it up and see how it goes. |
For me, A bird type that evolves at least once is a must. If I'm playing a new game, i'll get pokemon that are common but strong.
On the GBA version of the games. I alwas had to have ONE dragon pokemon |
I just usually try to have a grass type a fire type and a water type and usually a pokemon that can fly which is usually my Charizard
|
Not picky. At all. Hell, I'd use NFE pokemon. But there are some pokemon that somehow make my way on my team in certain generations, no matter how many times I play it through.
RBY: Cloyster GSC: Forretress RSE: Ninjask DPPt: Spiritomb Also, I tend to be defensive. |
Yes I am very picky especially on natures and genders. I always want the best from my team in every game and look up what it is good at and which nature suits it better. I'm also very picky in its moveset I really want them to each have at least one move that covers its weakness, one move that cause status change, and one that benefits from its type and the other to be a emergency situation move like hyper beam.
|
I guess I'm not all that picky about who is on my team, as long as I have at least one token cute Pokemon. xD
That space has been reserved for an Eevee since Gen I, so I have no clue what I'll do in B&W. |
I admit that I usually don't take pokemon that I like, even if their stats are amazing. You would probably see me with a pokemon that looks awesome, rather than one that's extremely powerful. I need to change this if I ever wanted to competitively battle, though.
|
1. My starter.
2. Native bird. 3. Various types, exception is Tobeca who's my Togetic on HG and Senn who's my lickle HM Slave/Water-type Sentret. 4. All of them need to know one useful move, with the exception of the swapped-out ones and said Starter. |
I'm not really that picky, I try to avoid universal weaknesses and also to use at least a few new pokemon each playthrough. I only keep my starter on my first playthrough :]. Thanks to my constantly changing teams, I've come to respect pokemon such as Volbeat (which is awesome, I love it now x)) and Poliwrath (fell in love with it in Crystal), but also to dislike certain pokemon (I tried to use a Relicanth once, it sucked pretty hard against the Hoenn E4 :/).
There are a few pokemon that frequently make it on to my team, such as: Graveler/Golem; Hariyama; Walrein; Crobat. Lately, I've come to respect Ampharos and Slowbro. I also like to have a surfer and a flier, for ease of transport. |
Lately, I've ALWAYS had at one Fire, Water, and Grass type on my team. Also, every time I play a region more than once, I HAVE to use pokemon I never have before.
I also usually keep my starter to the end, except in Platinum I used an Empoleon and swapped it out for a Poliwrath after the E4 because it kept getting KOed in E4 pre national dex by Garchomp's Earthquake. In fact, I actually got very lucky and that was the only reason I beat the champion. I knew I would have no such luck for the Post Nat. Dex Cynthia. Poliwrath can probably withstand atleast one Earthquake from Garchomp, then possibly OHKO it back with Ice Punch, Or atleast get enough damage on it to finish it off with something else. Being picky about your teams, though, is actually a good help towards making a good team. |
I typically use the same Pokemon without realizing it. I do try and switch it up a bit, though.
|
I am extremely vain and only use pokemon that I consider to be pretty, cool and/or cute. I will not use most pokemon because the majority are ugly.
|
I use pretty, strong and occasionally odd pokemon (to mix things up) But I am picky with looks and genders.
|
I always need something that can fly, and something that can surf. It kinda makes me sad that I can't have a full Eeveelution team because of it. ;-;
I usually go for Pokemon with high speed, attack, and special attack. I don't like being defensive- 'The best defense is a good offense', or whatever. :3 But regardless of what it is... shiny Pokemon go in my party. |
I just pick strong offensive and defensive pokemon. Simple as that. But I sometimes pick cool/ cute pokemon because they're awesome. Plus, I usually have a strategy for each cute/ cool pokemon I might use.
|
i'm not too picky, but my starter generally stays (always a grass type) i try to have a diverse team: grass, water, fire, some bird, psychic, and another type usually ice or electric.
i prefer speedy and defensive pokemon. i really don't like hm slaves. |
I always have at least one water, and at least one flying, for HMs. Other than that, I don't care too much about the types, as long as I have a good variety. There are, of course, certain types that I prefer over others, like ice and electric, and some that I almost never use, like poison and ghost.
|
Each member on my team must have something (other than looks) that makes him "unique"
I mean a pokemon like masquerain is pretty cool, but it's moveset (Bubblebeam,Giga Drain, Ice Beam and Silver) doesnt really help my team, As I already got a A flygon and a Walrein who outshine his offensive capabilities. I like hard hitting Pokemon, most of the times physical attackers. I usually don't mind slow pokemon, as long as they're bulky, like Swampert and Blastoise. I also like Sword dancers like Zangoose (who learns it at a ridiculously low level) and anybody that can learn it by breeding it with zangoose (most often being Sandshrew, I'm talking 'bout Hoenn here) Sometimes I tend to picky about natures, as I REFUSE to raise a modest Breloom!! Also I'm usually havin trouble to find myself a FLY user, as I always used Fearow in Kanto/Johto, Flygon in Hoenn and Staraptor in Sinnoh. I never use HM slaves, well not as a member of my team, If I need Cut, I get a cutter and deposit him back at pokecenter in the next town. |
1) No Females (except gender exclusive)
2) No legendaries (except mewtwo) 3) Type based, i am anything but electric, water and grass (except roserade, ampharos and blastoise) 4) AND ITS A MUST TO INCLUDE SNORLAX! |
I usually try to avoid to pokemon of the same type.
Also I need someone with some pretty good speed and attack stats. I tend not to use walls during my runs. |
Somewhat.
I tend to try to make my team diverse and... have the ones I consider "cool" looking. Most of them are males. But in some rare occasions, they can be female. And of course, no legendaries. |
i'm not really picky about my team members....
any pokemon can be strong if you train it~ i'm ok with any kind of pokemon~ |
My Platinum Team:
Infernape Luxray Staraptor Floatzel Garchomp Bibarel -it must have different type of move to cover most type of pokemon -all males :D and... a HM slaves (in above case, it's Bibarel :P) |
i usually have a lot of demands for my team:
1.Starter must be included 2.All of them must be male 3.Their natures must sound awesome (hardy, naughty, brave...) 4.Surfing pokemon 5.Golem :) I first used him in crystal, and he basically won the game for me 6.A Psychic pokemon... usually Alakazam 7.And I never use two of the same type not to picky am I? ;) |
I always include a pokemon that fits into the category of sweeper and I always have the basic flying pokemon of that region. Thats basically all.
