I'm going to end this seemingly long debate by saying Taillow.
It's a very good pokemon to have, especially for the second gym. |
tailow! fly and is a good poke.
|
Note: Just a reminder to everybody that as the character started in Verdanturf, the Mauville Gym will most likely be first (the way this is going, anyway), not Rustboro and Dewford. You'll still go there at some point, but not for a little while.
Try to Capture Tailow! You wade through the tall grass for a while, and eventually find what you're looking for: a Tailow! _____________________ Lv8 Tailow http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/pkrs025.gif Peck Growl Focus Energy Quick Attack ________________ The battle begins with both Mudkip and Tailow Growling at each other. Tailow then swoops in with a speedy Quick Attack, slamming Mudkip backwards. Mudkip tries Mud-Slap, but Tailow flies up and the Ground-type attack has no effect whatsoever. Tailow divebombs Mudkip with a Peck, and Mudkip meets it head-on with a Tackle. Mudkip jumps in the air and delivers another Tackle to Tailow, causing it to retreat slightly. Both Pokemon have taken a fair bit of damage now, so what do you do? Your Options -Attack again with Tackle -Throw a Poke Ball -Use a Potion on Mudkip Team Spoiler:

Pokeball. Catch that bird, yo.
|
Throw a Poke Ball
You toss a Poke Ball at the Tailow... but after two shakes it re-emerges! Tailow takes advantage of you being distraction to hammer Mudkip with another Quick Attack, which is met head-on with a Tackle. But Tailow uses its speed and hits Mudkip with another Peck. Mudkip goes flying back and lands at your feet. It's now close to fainting, but Tailow is a little weaker too. As you examine Mudkip, Tailow spreads its wings and begins to fly away. What do you do? Your Options -Throw one last Poke Ball. -Try one last Tackle -Hurry back to Verdanturf to heal Mudkip -Use a Potion Team Spoiler:

Since Taillow will be weak at the gym anyways, we'll catch that or another Pokemon later. Let's focus on Mudkip now and get healed at Verdanturf. Friends come first :).
|
We can't give up! I would throw a pokeball! :D
|
....throw mudkip :P
pokeball is my choice :) |
Pokeball. Mudkip can wait (what idiot decided on Mudkip, Sammy!?).
|
Throw another Poke Ball
You piff another Poke Ball at Tailow as he's about to fly away. Tailow is beamed insided and the Poke Ball falls to the ground. One shake... two shakes... three shakes... sparks! Tailow was caught! *** After a quick trip back to Verdanturf to heal your Pokemon, you continue down the road to Mauville City. As you do, a young boy with his back to you stands in the path. He has Poke Balls on his belt, so you assume he is a trainer. http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/frlgemtr/frlgemtr055.png "Hey, you!" you call out. The boy turns around. You've seen this frail-looking boy before, hanging around Verdanturf, but you've never spoken to him. "O-oh, h-h-hi..." says the boy nervously, "Y-you're a trainer too?" "Yup! Wanna battle?" "Uh... sure... I guess..." He lookes positively terrified at the thought. "By the way, my n-name's Wally..." "Ok Wally, how about a one-on-one battle?" "Sure..." Wally threw a Poke Ball and a Ralts emerged. _____________ Lv6 Ralts http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/pkrs029.gif Growl Confusion Hidden Power ____________ You consider Wally's Psychic-type Pokemon. It doesn't look too threatening, but its Confusion and Hidden Power attacks could be deadly if they hit too often. Which Pokemon do you send out to fight with? Your Options -Send out Tailow -Send out Mudkip Team Spoiler:

Mudkip since it'l give us an advantage if it evolves into Marshtomb at the Mauville Gym, since that's the one we're going to first.
So mudkip, Go! :D |
mudkipz cos we need the exp
|
Mudkip is weaker than Tailow, we need to train him! :)
|
Use Riptide! (Our Mudkip)
|
Riptide? *Burns all evidence of the nickname*
Mudkip He needs some more practise compared to Tailow, and it seems to be a rather balanced fight (Let's just hope HiddenPower isn't Grass/Electric-type!) |
Mudkip!
It isn't completely Sammy's fault, Kei Okay it is... |
Taillow, has a higher chance of weakening Raltz who is super rare so we can catch him.
|
Uhm... no it isn't, Sammy. v____v
Considering it's a trainer Pokemon and we're not thieves, I'm going to go with almost everyone else in bringing out Mudkip. Needs the Experience. |
Release Mudkip!
Mudkip emerges and quickly hammers Ralts with a Mud-Slap. And, for the first time since you've known him, you see a smile creep onto Wally's face. "Ralts! Hidden Power!" Ralts suddenly shoots a yellow Hidden Power at Mudkip blasting him back. As Mudkip falls to the ground, yellow sparks come flying off. "Y'see... Ralts has an electric-type Hidden Power attack... Which is bad news for Mudkip." You grimace. Of all the crappy luck. "Ralts! Hidden Power!" Another Hidden Power comes flying at Mudkip. "Mud-Slap!" you cry. The Mud-Slap deflects part of the Hidden Power, but Mudkip still takes a bad hit. Ralts is preparing another Hidden Power. You look around frantically. Ralts, charging it's attack is dead ahead, to your left is a large crumbling and dying tree and to your right is a flowerbed - could these help at all? You return to the battle. Mudkip is standing helplessly as Ralts is seconds away from firing the finishing blow - no time to get a Potion to Mudkip. What do you do? Your Options -Charge ahead with Tackle -Use Mud-Slap to your left -Use Mud-Slap to your right -Cry, flee and ditch Mudkip Team Spoiler:

Mud-slap (left)
Maybe we could knock over the tree? |
Mudkip should use...Tackle! :)
|
Mudslap the tree
Who knows? It could scare some Tailow and make a distraction or something... |
So thats:
Charge ahead with Tackle: 1 Mud-Slap to the left: 2 Mud-Slap to the right: 0 Cry flee and ditch Mudkip: 0 |
