Here's what I will probably do.
Hack in a Competetive Battling team to use ONLY while training my legit one. Once my legit one is complete, the Hacked Poke's will be released. |
I don't believe it's okay.
To me it just shows off how weak you really are. |
I was always the type to want ALL video games to make sense, and if they didn't i would make something up, i made up that gamesharks are a type of lab in the poke' universe that make synthetic items and pokemon. I think you should never cheat, it spits upon the name of those that attempted catch their selves that modest shiny rattata and train it to learn water gun. But for real don't cheat unless your very curious, want to @%[email protected] up your game, or catch missingno, and if you do, do it on a rom.
|
It depends on how you're cheating. Not all "cheaters" give themselves a team of Lv100 legendaries with ridiculous stats and sweep through the game. You can cheat in smaller ways, and in my opinion some cheats can actually make the game more fair.
Say you're building a team for battling online, and you need a few TMs. Unfortunately you don't have all the TMs you need. Some you've already used on other Pokemon. Some would take tons of BP or hours in the Game Corner to obtain. Some you'd have to completely restart the game to find again. For that sort of thing, I'd say an "unlimited TMs cheat" or whatever would be acceptable. Or hell, maybe you just want to nickname an event Pokemon. Not all cheats are extreme or game-breaking. ... When it comes down to it, though, it's always okay to cheat, so long as you aren't parading around beating people on WiFi with a team of hacked ubers or anything. You can (and should) play the game however you want to. Cheating in a video game isn't horribly immoral and wrong. It's just a video game. |
I think it's ok to cheat if the person needed a pokemon for his Dex and didn't have WiFi or any other means of obtaining it. Or if the person really likes a pokemon that only comes in a event and they missed it. I however don't think it's right to make hacked pokemon for trade or try to rip people off.
|
When I finish the game, I usually pop in my Action Replay and get insanely high levelled Pokemon, and make really powerful Pokemon.
I've gotten many legit shinies (I have 2 in Emerald). Still, I never use these Pokemon in battles and only use them for fun. |
I think it's fine if it's something like getting an event pokemon, or a similar situation.
When I was younger, I loved doing it because my friends couldn't figure out how they would be able to trade me a pokemon, and me have it level 100 the next day. Silly things like that :D |
I suppose it just depends on how you feel about it. I mean, if you can't get your DS online, and no events are close to you, then what else are you supposed to do? If Nintendo didn't want people to cheat, they should make the Pokemon accessible, instead of keeping them back for events like this that don't even reach certain countries. If something is impossible for you to get any other way...well, why not? I wouldn't say there was anything wrong with that.
Similarly, if you can't be bothered to EV train Pokemon or shiny hunt - and it IS a very long, time-consuming and boring process - there isn't really anything wrong with cheating to get them. You're not hurting anyone but yourself (I know it'd drive me INSANE if I cheated to get anything I could get otherwise, I can't even accept Masterballs to catch Legendaries, I've had to build up a stock from previous games to use when I'm sufficiently aggravated) unless you make Pokemon with improbable stats and moves and then take them online. Although I do know one thing...I'm liberating my friend's AR when I feel like starting HeartGold or SoulSilver again so I can play it from the beginning with the GB Sounds. |

For competitions and trading, keep the cheating out of it. It's not fair when dealing with other people.
As for personal gain, I say, GO FOR IT! I have some hacked shinies because I've become tired of trying to get them legit (I do have a pair of Legit Shinies from trading: Latias and Eevee-evt) for my personal use. Just don't pass hacked stuff to others. It's not nice. |
I only ever use my Action Replay in places where I've finished my game. I never cheat or hack the game when I'm playing the story but once that's over, I allow myself to do some simple cheats. nothing like level 100s or stuff like that but small things that make the after-game better. For me, using my Action Replay enhances the game after I've finished the main part of the game. However, I won't cheat when it comes to WiFi battles or anything involving other people because that's really cheating.
|
It is never okay to cheat it is annoying and it ruins the game.
|
The only cheat code I use is the walk through walls one. I use it because I hate to teach my Pokemon the crappy HM moves. >_<
|
in pokemon games I'd only cheat for hard to get pokemon like celebi. in other games I wouldn't cheat at all
|
I like using Pokesav to create my own Event Pokemon but they're not ridiculously-powered LV100 Shiny Legendary Pokemon or anything like that. I did recreate the Shiny Legendary Dogs for Platinum and I did recreate Movie Mewtwo for Platinum. But those were merely tests to see if it worked - I was after a PokeRadar which I received through making my own event - a friend used his AR to activate the National Pokedex before I completed the Elite Four, thus not allowing me to obtain it.

Eh, I personally stopped doing it but have nothing against anyone does as stated before as long as im not affected. I will admit though using cheats to generate shinies is never okay in my book knowing you got a shiny legit is part of what makes them sparkle to me. Go spend hours with the pokewalker and have ur chain broken by a Bidoof like everyone else
|
I sometimes used SendPKM to create my own Pokémon. Usually I either release them or keep 'em in the PC. Nothing more. I tried sending an Azure Flute, but the flute didn't work. >.<
I rarely ever get them touched, or activate an event if they can. |
I haven't used AR or GS since I was a little kid, but I don't care if people cheat on their own games so long as they don't try to trade hacked Pokémon off as real ones or use them competitively.
|
I only do it to get pokemon who are not obtained w/o trading. I use the modifyer codes to catch the missing Kanto/Johto/Hoenn pkmn in Diamond
|
I don't count the glitches in R/B/Y/G/S/C as cheating...every game has a glitch or two.
I'm going to be honest. I cheat. I don't do crazy movesets and all that. It's just way too complicated for me but I do get Pokemon that I just cannot obtain through HeartGold and to help complete my Pokedex. I also like to breed so I usually grab some Pokemon of same egg groups or to get shinies and stuff. I don't think I've ruined my game for myself. I still have tons of things to do in it and just because I may have some illegitimate Pokemon there doesn't bother me. I just don't like it when you cheat to compete in tournaments and have a better outcome. It isn't fair and I know I would be pissed if you had a level 100 Shiny Diglett that knew Fly in a tournament. |
I use my Action Replay a great deal, mostly with getting certain items, money, gaining levels quick when I don't feel like doing it the legit way and help catching the occasional Pokemon. I don't know anything about using the AR for IV, impossible movesets and uber Pokemon for competitions.
I follow the rule of never using my AR for Wi-Fi battling. I only use the AR for personal stuff. |
I do cheat, and do not give a rat's arse about it.
But I do have my limits. 999 on all/one stat? Teaching a Dugtrio Hydro Pump? Not for me. Eivana, some people who cheat have something called a job and/or school, not to mention other responsibilities that barely gives them time to do anything game-related. Or, [le gasp], A LIFE. It has nothing to do with being weak. |
It doesn't matter if you cheat or not (not because I cheat sometimes in these games) but everyone has their opinion on cheating. If someone is cheating while I'm playing, I will cheat right back by getting my Action Replay. If people believe that cheating is their way of enjoying the game, then let them
:t354:TG |
I agree with everyone has their view towards cheating to complete the game, receive items the easier way, or do silly things like walk through walls but to me, I find it unnecessary. If you cheat to get things that take a while or are a bit difficult to obtain in the game, then what gives off a good challenge? A lot of people already complain how the game is barely challenging so cheating just has no challenges input and everything becomes easier. I never cheated throughout the game because I like some kind of challenge and I find it more fun to play the game the right way rather than having it in a cheated way. :( This is just my two cents anyway.
