The way you described the music reminds me of R.O.D.

I totally gonna finish that series, actually... It was good, but I keep forgetting about it.

I hadn't remembered it in... 3 months.

I'll have to do Angel Beats! after Higurashi, then. It sounds interesting~

Weeaboo Name January 9th, 2011 9:52 PM

I couldn't help but think of it as a grown up version of the Power Puff Girls, I don't know exactly what your tastes are but you'll probably like it.

Hmmm apart from Gintama and Naruto: Shippuuden i've now got nothing bar currently airing anime on my watching list. I still have over 36 different unwached series downloaded but can't decide what to go for -.-

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ January 10th, 2011 7:40 AM

I recently picked up Canvas 2 because it started airing on Crunchyroll. I had been looking for a decent sub version of the series for awhile but hadn't had much luck until Crunchy picked it up.

digi-kun January 10th, 2011 8:42 AM

Really? for Canvas 2? I thought that one really good sub group had picked it up...I forget the name though since it stopped a while ago...Lunar, that was the name.

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ January 10th, 2011 9:13 AM

Yeah, idk, maybe I was just looking in the wrong places for it. I think I might try for that subbed version, though - I did note several grammatical errors on the Crunchy version and I'm just five episodes in...

Weeaboo Name January 10th, 2011 9:41 AM

Are there any really bad sub groups? The only slightly odd one i've seen recently was in the latest episode of Bakuman. Surely nobody would say "Do a barrel roll" whilst jumping into a car now i've written that it is actually a bit like Nizuma's character...but still I doubt that's a meme in Japan.....tbh even if he didn't that gave me a laugh so it's ok. I think that was "subDesu" or something like that.

Shanghai Alice January 10th, 2011 2:03 PM

Some of the groups that subbed Detective Conan were barely passable.

Native gods, don't even get me started...

Green Eyes White Dragon? ya, there are bad ones.

Weeaboo Name January 10th, 2011 7:12 PM

Ah i remember hearing about some of Detective Conan being near unreadable, and is that a Yu Gi-Oh! thing... the first 100 episodes of my download are all English so i might have bad subs for that.

The only time a subbing company pissed me off a was Anime-Station's subbing of Koi Kaze. It wasn't anything to do with the quality of sub or anything they just felt the urge to ruin a really beautiful scene by adding a note at the top saying something like "i would like to state do not condone statuary rape or incest". I ended up doenloading from a different set of subbers and they took the piss out of it at the end....

EDIT -

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? - LMFAO, wow, well that isn't what i expected. THis season now has 2 polar opposite magical girl anime (although this is more a magical boy). The art looks like a toned down Key work to me, and the animation is fine. Really looking forward for the rest of this.

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ January 11th, 2011 12:24 PM

From Canvas 2 ep. 6 or ep. 7, which I just watched last night:

Typos happen to the best off us.

OK so I recently watched: both Eden of the East movies, Haruhi movie, and the first episode of Is this a Zombie?

Eden of the East: I didn't watch them before because the site I go to only had a megavideo stream (I ****ing hate you megavideo!) I had to rewatch the series before I watched the movies so I had a marathon of Eden! The ending was awesome sauce!

Haruhi: Again the site I go to had a problem (movie theater camera) so I just watched it yesterday. Amazing movie but the ending made me want more (third season please?)

Is this a Zombie?: What. The. Frenchtoast? So many questions unanswered! but it seems like it'll be a great series a lot less loli than I first expected (this is a good thing you sickos!)

jigglyppuff8 January 11th, 2011 4:55 PM

HAHA, OH WOW. You should really learn how to watch your anime in High Definition and not off streaming sites before complaining about quality.

Also, that Haruhi movie. I was blown away, it was so amazing.

I stream because it's more convenient than downloading IMO and plus I heard some act or whatever to stop pirating (I don't want jail time)

and define "high definition". I don't know any Japanese so I watch fan subbed which is obviously not high quality or "high definition". Of course as soon as I saw it was a camrip I said "F this! I'll watch it when the DVD is released" which was just recently

jigglyppuff8 January 11th, 2011 5:21 PM

I can argue all day about how streaming is NOT more convenient unless you have ADHD or something, but I won't since you're afraid of downloading due to that government act, whatever it is. Also,
>implying that you aren't downloading when streaming
Alternatively, support the industry! Buy licensed DVDs!

As for what I define as HD,

XD I actually do have ADHD!

and nah SD is good enough for me. I stream the animes on FUNimation's youtube channel and what they don't license I just don't watch in full screen. doesn't bother me too much

Weeaboo Name January 11th, 2011 6:01 PM

If i went back to streaming i think it'd annoy the hell out of me ^_^....i mean i don't mind waiting a couple of hour for a series or 10 mins (at most) for a new episode tbh. I've also never watched a camrip in my life, i'd rather just wait.

Anyway, think i might start the second season of Kimi ni Todoke soon. Edit - I did, and it was exactly as you'd expect. I'm quite surprised at how much i like this series.

Hey now, the Shotgun Rule is in effect.

Meaning no discussing awesome things I haven't yet seen, or else! D:<

Seriously, though. Why haven't I seen-

Oh, wait, I tried, and all I could find was a camrip.

BRB. Going to err... acquire a decent version.

*Wants to see Vanishment so freaking badly*

As for what I define as HD,

You need to find a better streaming site if that's what it looks like for you. In my case, it takes longer to download an episode than it does to watch it, so I prefer streaming.

Example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IInyA9Vz7KA&hd=1

And there are better quality videos out there.

Shanghai Alice January 12th, 2011 7:59 PM

My monitor doesn't do full-HD, so it takes less time for me to download. :D

Still better than streaming, though.

Just mass download one night, and start watching them the next day.

I experience the same thing, but I vastly prefer the quality of downloading an episode. It's just seriously that much better quality to download and then watch. Some of us actually like to watch in full-screen and have high resolution screens that stretch the pixels on the stream.

Yeah, seconding that. Full screen is really the only way to watch, and it's that much better if it looks that much better. :D

Did you not watch the video I linked? Its quality is just as good, if not better than any of the downloads I've watched.

Of course I watch it in full screen when streaming, and I have a large, high-res/HD monitor. I don't notice any problems with it.

Weeaboo Name January 12th, 2011 8:52 PM

THe only sites i can stream from are those that host from Facebook, they split the episodes in half but it certainly watchable. I always DL now though.

OT...Bleach going moe?

First off,
>Part 1

Why would you even do this? Why? WHY? Now I have to load part 2.

And of course there's better quality steams out there, but none of those compressed files can ever hope to defeat properly encoded releases. Here's a comparison between two screenshots (upscaled to fit my 1440x900 monitor) from the same 720p encode:
Uploaded to Youtube
Original

Both HD files, but the quality on the bottom is superior. The Youtube screenshot for some reason decided to darken the original colors and add some artifacts most notably to her gloves. The original color is preserved in the original and there are less artifacts present.
Also, can you show me where I can find EVERY SERIES with HD quality? Didn't think so.
