Yeah.

Yusuke Murata draws backgrounds, Takeshi Obata draws backgrounds, Osamu Tezuka draws backgrounds, Naoki Urasawa draws backgrounds, Akira Toriyama draws backgrounds, all decent manga-ka draw backgrounds. :U

Kazuma Kondou (Deadman Wonderland and Eureka Seven) is probably my favourite mangaka for art alone, his movement is perfect and when it needs it the detail is brilliant.

Other favourites would have to be Mizuki Kawashita (Ichigo 100% and Ane Doki!) She would be tied with Kentarou Yabuki (To Love-Ru), Kou Fumizuki (Umi no Misaki) and Shouji Satou (HOTD).

A Pixy January 23rd, 2011 1:20 PM

Yusuke Murata. Eyeshield 21 was never not candy to my eyes.

Higurashi Spoiler
Spoiler:

So, yes. Yesterday, I decided, "I'mma watch some Higurashi, and finish up the series!"
HOLYCRAPTHATWASANAWESOMEDECISION.

While Meakashi-hen (Shmion Arc) was fairly... okay, the next arc blew **** out of the water, and in the most awesome way possible.

While I was originally skeptical about watching an episode about a child with severe family issues who tries to shove them all away and force themselves to be upbeat, I SITFU, and watched anyway.

Dear Kanako, was it worth it.

I mean, REALLY. RENA VS KEIICHI WAS THE MOST AWESOME THING I'VE SEEN IN A WHILE. IT WAS AWESOME, AND...

Yeah.

Amazing. They did the last arc/episode really. Effing. Well.

Only regret?

I watched during the daytime. Oh well, should've waited. I won't make that mistake when I watch Kai.

For now, though? On to Madoka Magica, and, after I finish Angel Beats!, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes.

HIGURAAAASHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII~

Wouldn't want to watch the later seasons for a while, though. I need a breather. D:

I have to admit the rooftop scene was one of my favourite anime moments ever. I really should watch Kai, I always think about it when you bring up the series. Bleugh maybe later.

A Pixy January 23rd, 2011 5:46 PM

We're talking about favourite anime moments?

Cowboy Bebop episode 5 spoilers.

I honestly am angry towards my little sister for interrupting me while watching this.

Even then, and even though I ruined the potential atmosphere by watching it during the day...

That episode was definitely one of the better finales I've seen.

The rooftop scene was so powerful because, being Higurashi, it could have ended in any way imaginable, and still have fit within the series. The ending was unexpected, even with that.

Weeaboo Name January 23rd, 2011 6:29 PM

It was a good ending, I like how it was complete enough to feel satisfied with just watching that but there were enough questions left that you know the second season will be good.

Sorry Pixy, can't open that spoiler tag as I will eventually get around to watching that. Obviously heard good things about the series though.

Shanghai Alice January 23rd, 2011 8:06 PM

The second season... I'm so looking forward to that.

Still, even though I know the Sound Novels were made with Kai, and the first season is supposed to lead into the second, it's hard to not feel like, "Hey, it's over!"

Also...

Umm... Does anybody know where I can find a full patch for the games?

I know Sonozaki Futago is working on a patch, but... -_-

EDIT:

THEY.

HAVE.

ONE.

FOR.

THE.

IPHONE.

WHHHHHHHHHHY? *Has an iPod*

jigglyppuff8 January 23rd, 2011 8:35 PM

Really? Cool beans. Too bad segments past ep 1 cost money. :V

Shanghai Alice January 23rd, 2011 8:59 PM

Ep. 1 is already released on PC as a demo, so charging for it would be akin to slitting the throats of the fans. I imagine they kept it free as a goodwill gesture.

You know what's sad?

This might be the straw that breaks the Shanghai's back, convincing me to get an iTouch.

kohei January 24th, 2011 3:43 PM

I don't really expect to watch Freezing because I don't like the manga.
But the OP song is stuck in my head. I need help.

Also, Yumekui Merry. Stripy socks and navels will the end of me.

A Pixy January 24th, 2011 3:56 PM

The only opening that has gotten horribly stuck in my head was the opening to Evangelion.

SO. CATCHY. SO. INAPPROPRIATE.

Weeaboo Name January 24th, 2011 4:56 PM

I still have the Lucky Star theme song in my head from the other day. How uncool is it that i could probably do the dance that goes with it ^^

I've also decided not to watch any more Freezing and Merry along with a few others, at least not as they're airing anyway. 8 from this season + 4 ongoing from previous seasons is far to many as it is really.

jigglyppuff8 January 24th, 2011 5:38 PM

Freezing is just one of those shows screaming "BUY ME ON BLURAY!"
Also, 10 from this season + 6 from last season + 6 from before that. And I ain't even overwhelmed. I have no life too much free time.

Weeaboo Name January 24th, 2011 6:14 PM

That's quite impressive tbh, it would suck if you missed a couple of weeks though. You'd suddenly have 40+ individual episodes to torrent.

Anyway, I've started watching the very unique Michiko to Hatchin. It's kinda like watching the bastard lovechild of Boys In The Hood and Baise-moi minus the explicit stuff. It's one of those i can't seem to gauge it's quality due to not having stuff to compare it against but i think it's pretty good..

Quality elitist. Curse you for infecting me with your viewpoints. *Almost had a heart attack over watching FLCL in low quality, and spends an extra three hours getting the best-possible resolution anime*

THANKS A LOT. D:

In other news, from the... half episode (Flash drive complications, don't ask) I've seen of Madoka Magica, this show looks interesting.

jigglyppuff8 January 24th, 2011 6:40 PM

And that's why I have my torrents on RSS feed. :V

I have the hard drive space. It wasn't that necessarily. It was just that in the case of Freezing, it was a choice between intense amounts of "fade to black" censoring or 4:3 aspect ratio in the world of 16:9. I'm going to choose the option that lets me have both uncensored and 16:9.

Weeaboo Name January 24th, 2011 6:47 PM

Lol I doubt many people will be buying the blue ray version of that for the quality. ^_-

Madoka Magica is certainly interesting so far, probably only enjoying Gosick more than it from this seasons releases. I was right before the season started that it would probably be Shaft V Bones for the prestigious honour that is being my pick of the season. saying that either of them could get overtaken by Fractale if that manages to step up a gear or so.

EDIT - I don't really mind fade to black censorship, it's the other sort that annoys me.

-.-...I mean, what. :L

Shanghai Alice January 24th, 2011 7:10 PM

I think it'd be better if, you know, the animators just tastefully censored the stuff. Like in Higurashi, when the violence got excessively excessive, there'd be a Gory Discretion Shot or three.

EDIT: Having watched the first two episodes of Madoka Magica, all I can say is...

It is, as one would guess from the title, a Mahou Shoujo series.

Hmm. Surprisingly enough, I've never actually seen one of these. It's interesting, but headbangingly sugary.

Guess I should've expected this.

Oh, and Homura is win. :D

Weeaboo Name January 25th, 2011 4:50 PM

Ever had the feeling that you're going to love an anime from the moment you see and hear the opening?

Downloaded it as a recommendation of Black Lagoon but the similarities are superficial at best. After only five episodes I truly thing this could be could be one of my favourites ever. :)

The score of the series so far has been awesome so i looked up the ound Director, Yota Tsuruoka. As well as this he is the guy that has done all of the Key anime sound, Azumanga Daioh, K-On! and a big chunk of Shinbou's Shaft anime.

digi-kun January 25th, 2011 5:33 PM

Not surprised, same writer as Fate/Zero and Madoka Magica

Shanghai Alice January 25th, 2011 5:40 PM

Only three episodes seen, and it's becoming very clear to me that Madoka Magica was made on drugs.

Like I said, it's my first mahou shoujou series, so that'd probably explain my reaction to it. XD

Good so far, though.

jigglyppuff8 January 25th, 2011 5:50 PM

More like first SHAFT animu. Most magical girl series probably aren't like that. :x

Weeaboo Name January 25th, 2011 6:09 PM

Indeed the madness is more Shinbou than the genre it's self, I haven't seen a lot of straight up Mahou Shoujo but that is fact. crap, for this statement to work you can't look at who directed Lyrical Nanoha.
