Would you keep Pikachu in Pokemon Yellow just so you can talk to it?

I been playing Pokemon Yellow and I evolved my Pikachu to a Raichu a long time ago. Now I beginning to miss talking to my Pikachu to see how it felt about me. So I ask you all, Would you keep Pikachu in Pokemon Yellow just so you can talk to it?

JAK3 October 5th, 2010 11:03 AM

To be honest, I didn't even know you could get rid of the Pikachu, so, no, I probably wouldn't miss it.

Cilerba October 5th, 2010 11:23 AM

Yeah, I think I would. :P
In my opinion, Pikachu walking with you is the best part of Pokémon Yellow.

tkallab October 5th, 2010 12:29 PM

To me, it was the only thing that made Yellow more interesting than Red and Blue. So yeah, he stayed a Pikachu here.

So, did you trade your pickachu to another game, evolve it, and then trade it back?

Erin October 5th, 2010 6:26 PM

I wasn't aware that Pikachu could be evolved in Yellow... did you trade in one from another game, or something?
The biggest appeal of Yellow was that you had a Pikachu following you around in the first place, so yes, I did keep my Pikachu. =PP

I traded Pikachu to Pokemon Red and evolved it because it was the strongest member in my Pokemon Yellow and traded it back to see if there was a walking Raichu. :(

No. It's far too lightweight, even with Surf.

Also Pikachu = most annoying Pokemon. Ever. Raichu is at least bearable.

The Pikachu was level 100. I defeated the elite four without changing once. "Used a lot of revives and elixirs though."

Well yeah but you could realistically defeat the Elite Four with any Lv 100 Pokemon if you have enough potions to replenish yourself with.

The original question was "would you keep Pikachu so you could talk to him", and my answer's still no. But then I strongly dislike Pikachu so maybe i'm a little biased lulz.

Purple Materia October 6th, 2010 2:20 AM

With a Pikachu, probably not. I prefer Raichu; then again, I also prefer Magnemite/Magneton.

...that's actually pretty neat, I didn't know you could do that. o_o
Anyway, no, I wouldn't. That was the only thing that bothered me about having Pikachu in Yellow. I hate having anything follow me around in games, I always feel like I should try and "lose" it or something. When I first played Colosseum I would constantly try to get Rui stuck behind a building or something so I could get away from her. ._.

I liked having Pikachu follow me when I first played Yellow, but I'm replaying it now and all I can think is, "wth is this, it won't leave me alone and it doesn't even evolve, this is so annoying."

LightOfTruth October 6th, 2010 9:28 AM

I would dump him in the PC as soon as I get another pokemon. Then if I needed a electric-type I would catch another pokemon :)

Red1530 October 6th, 2010 7:03 PM

I kept my Pikachu as is in my play through of Yellow.

Sydian October 6th, 2010 7:31 PM

I thought you couldn't get rid of him for a long time. But when I found out you could, I kept him anyway because for the longest time, it was the only game where a Pokemon followed you. And oddly enough, Pikachu is my least favorite Pokemon. You think I would have deposited it when I found out it was possible, haha. Now that we have HGSS, I wouldn't mind ditching him now I suppose...

Eurydice October 8th, 2010 9:58 AM

whenever i play yellow i always keep my pikachu. i dont think i have ever got rid of/evolved it either.

Itstoppedatumbreon October 8th, 2010 1:29 PM

kept mine till the end oif game, but it was only level 18

psychomew2 October 8th, 2010 4:50 PM

I always kept pikachu and trained it evenly with all the other members of my team. I guess for me it didnt seem right to get rid of what was kinda the selling point of the game.

Duragi October 8th, 2010 4:55 PM

I wouldn't evolve it in any game until lv 40-ish for thunder.
I like to have the little guy follow me around though, so yea, i'd keep him.

IAWTC

I hated Yellow when I was younger because I couldn't get a squirtle until later on in the game, so I deposited Pikachu any chance I got when I played the game.

Nearsighted king of Ice October 9th, 2010 4:30 AM

I'd keep pikachu i think it's better than raichu

Spikey-Eared Pichu October 9th, 2010 6:04 AM

Um, PkMn Yellow expert here and you can't evolve your Pika unless it's traded to another game. Anyways, I always keep him on my team. Yellow's Pikachu is actually above average to all other Pikachu found in the wild of the Metal/Color games.

mal'akh October 9th, 2010 7:17 PM

I hate Pikachu. I despise Pikachu. I wish it wasn't the mascot for the ENTIRE franchise. But, I loved it in Yellow. Just something about it made me fall for it. I never use it in any other game, other than this one.

dragonarche October 10th, 2010 12:25 AM

Yeppp =)
but in heart gold i kindaa ditched him poor pikachuu oh well

Apostrophe October 10th, 2010 9:43 AM

That was pretty much the point of yellow version. Without the Pikachu, you might as well get Red/Blue version because at least the Gym Leaders aren't nerfed.
