your first pokemon game

my first pokemon game is pokemon Platinum

La Denryu October 8th, 2010 4:52 AM

Pokemon Yellow for me <:

Actually, I was 5 years old, and I had to share it with my older sister, so I didn't get to play much. I was stuck in Pallet for ages and I was like "Sis, am I in Pewter city yet?" "Well, what do you see around you?" "um, a fat guy and a big house" "....You're still in Pallet, idiot, give it here."
And I hated that my starter was a Pikachu, and that I couldn't catch a Meowth.

Then I got Blue, and everything was all better <:

JAK3 October 8th, 2010 5:36 AM

Haha, my very first Pokemon Game.. It'd have to be Pokemon Gold. That game was a masterpiece, to be honest though, it wasn't even mine, it was my good friends game, I was only 4, and I borrowed it for about a Month, my Mom was in the hospital for her back, and I played it when I went to visit her.

Later on though, my first ACTUAL Pokemon game ( ACTUAL meaning the one I actually owned myself ) was Pokemon Ruby. All these games didn't seem special at the time because they were just games, but nowadays I look back and Say: "Wow, I actually miss that day I walked through the Grocery Store playing my Gameboy and Pokemon Ruby. "

Sydian October 8th, 2010 5:41 AM

My first game was Pokemon Yellow. :) I never made it past Brock and then I lost it. lol

leogrecchi October 8th, 2010 5:45 AM

First pokémon game i ever played was Yellow
by that time, i was 7, and had no idea that was a gameboy game (seriously, a "friend" tricked me saying it was a pc game, when he gave me no$gbc with the rom, in a 3 1/2 floppy disk)
oh, old times... As for cartridges, my fist game was Emerald, as i didn't get the chance to grab myself a GBC, just GBA

Purple Materia October 8th, 2010 5:59 AM

First was Blue. Played the crap out of it. I don't remember when I got it, but I do remember having a Yellow version. Lost it to the bath.

yoyoma724 October 8th, 2010 6:34 AM

My first game was Yellow. Then Stadium. Then Silver. And that's it!

Timbjerr October 8th, 2010 8:09 AM

First Pokemon game I played was Red, which I shared with my younger brother. Two months later, I got Blue for myself for Christmas. :D

Fever October 8th, 2010 11:42 AM

My first game was Yellow. I adored it.
To be honest, I still have it and my oldschool gameboy lying around my bedroom to this day.
I have Silver also and now I also have a DS that I can play HG on.
Still needing to buy D/P though.

Prometheus October 8th, 2010 11:54 AM

Pokemon Diamond/Ranger, Same day!

Pumpkin Fields October 8th, 2010 12:11 PM

Blue version, although I was stuck in the first town for about 10 months since I didn't bother to read anything back then.

Eurydice October 8th, 2010 12:35 PM

my first game was red, blue and yellow. i got all three for my birthday ^_^

Dooonerz October 8th, 2010 12:57 PM

My first game was Pokemon Red, when I was 5. That thing was like a baby to me xD

mondays suck October 8th, 2010 1:26 PM

Pokemon Red, and I was 6 or so. I remember first having incredible trouble with Misty and later with a random Dugtrio in Diglett's cave, so I just dumped by Ivysaur (it had been underleveled and I never used the awesomeness Leech Seed because I thought it would always do only 1 damage. I had been trusting the type advantage, without any success) and went on a Nidoking rampage instead. It knew Horn Attack, Thrash, Bubblebeam and Thunderbolt; I thought this was the best possible moveset. How wrong I was...
Well, it's at least better than good ol' Ember, Flamethrower, Fire Blast and Fire Spin 'zard, right?

560cool. October 8th, 2010 1:35 PM

Haha, @mondays 'zard.

Yes, I remember clearly : my Sapphire Blaziken Solo in 2003, at the age of 5. I just got my GBA and I had been with it day and night : the very extension of my arm ! I soloed up to Steven with 'Ken (80-90 by the end O_O) and had a lot of tries against him. In the end, I won.

That childhood memory caused my love for Blaziken and fire types in general. Most people on PC know about my love (I had various references, some themes, etc.), but I thought I might as well put it here ! :-)

GrifSpark October 8th, 2010 2:06 PM

My first Pokemon game, eh? That would be Pokemon Yellow. I was young, and generally did awful at it. Was I the only person to get stuck on Brock?

I soon got past that part, by using Nidoking :D

PlatinumDude October 8th, 2010 3:07 PM

My first Pokemon games were Ruby/Sapphire. Those were some good times I had back then.

Sho7gun October 8th, 2010 3:16 PM

My 1st game was Pokemon Red. Back in the day when playing Pokemon with Colour was a dream yet to come true & Shinies hadn't even come into it! :O Shock Horror :O

jujuju October 8th, 2010 3:27 PM

Pokemon Blue. Still my favourite game, but I never play it. I wasted many hours with the mew glitch to obtain all 151 pokemon and trained them up with the help of rare candies from missigno. (This was after I had played through the game countless number of times) I don't want to restart because then all my hardwork would be gone.

Nickmonster October 8th, 2010 4:07 PM

I believe it was Pokemon Ruby. I got it when my brother said he needed someone to play with.

Eliminator Jr. October 8th, 2010 4:23 PM

My first Pokémon game was Pokémon Red. I got it when I was five for Christmas. The first time I played through I never knew how to catch Pokémon until I was in Vermillion, so at that point I had just a level 40 Charizard and something else. Coincidentally enough my Charmander evolved into Charmeleon after beating Brock and into Charizard after beating Misty so I had the belief that Pokémon evolved after beating gym leaders.

Astinus October 8th, 2010 4:27 PM

I feel old.

My first game was Pokemon Blue when I was eleven-years-old. I didn't know about version exclusives. I just picked Blue because I liked the color more than Red. Yet my first Pokemon was Charmander. But I was still happy because I could catch Meowth and Sandshrew while I wouldn't be able to in Red.

I spent so many days playing that game on the giant gray GameBoy brick.

psychomew2 October 8th, 2010 4:45 PM

pokemon stadium for the n64. They had a demo set up at a blockbuster that i went to alot, and I wound up getting hooked. Red version soon followed so I wouldnt need to rely on the rental pokemon.

Iceshadow3317 October 9th, 2010 4:13 AM

My very first was Blue. I will go ahead and tell you the rest as well.

1st Blue
2nd Yellow
3rd Red
4th Gold
5th Silver
6th Crystal
7th Ruby
8th Sapphire
9th Emerald
10th FireRed
1th Diamond
12th HeartGold
13th White
14th Black

I never really owned N64/Gamecube/and Wii games. I have always rinted them. I only owned 1 of the Rescue Team games and that was Blue. Cant remeber when I had it tho.

Red1530 October 9th, 2010 5:42 AM

My first two Pokémon games were Blue and Yellow.

Pyrax October 10th, 2010 6:00 AM

My first was Sapphire back when I was about 7/8. :p

As I recall, I lost it before I got to Sootopolis to catch Kyogre. :p
Oh, and I pretty much used my Swampert all the time.

This seems to be a pattern, back when I was a kid, I seemed to not want to battle the final gym leader and thus was stuck with 7 badges. :p

WonderGirl October 10th, 2010 6:01 AM

Pokémon Sapphire! Ah, the good ol' days ♥

Itstoppedatumbreon October 10th, 2010 12:18 PM

yellow when i was like 7. easy game really. I think i broke my bros yellw, but he said he saw glitch pokemon before i went on it, so we dont know. he had a level 83 pikachu called puka. luckily saved in set on stadium ad stadium 2. thank god for them

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ October 10th, 2010 2:52 PM

Pokemon Blue, though my brother got Pokemon Red first, soon after it first came out. Ah, the memories :)

razzbat October 11th, 2010 4:19 AM

mine is silver, it was also my first ever game i owned.
it was how i learnt japanese. XD

The Dragon Queen October 11th, 2010 7:20 AM

I believe my first Pokemon game was Crystal.

Palkia October 11th, 2010 7:29 AM

If you're talking about the side games, then it's Red Rescue Team. I LOVED IT. I was a charzard (Back then when i though it was cool.)

If you're talking about the main games, it was emerald. I will be soon playing that game again on a DS phat.

MidouCloud October 11th, 2010 8:00 AM

Pokemon blue on christmas when i was 10 xD.

I remember how i got the 150 pokemons on my game and a friend delete the savedata when i let him the game... i was crying a lot XD

Ryoku Renzo October 11th, 2010 4:54 PM

For me, it all started with Red. I played that game more than I slept back then.

Cataclysmic October 11th, 2010 6:36 PM

My first Pokémon game was Blue. I don't remember how old I was, but they hadn't been out for long. I'm happy to say that I still have my cartridge.

skppy1225 October 11th, 2010 6:44 PM

My first Pokémon game was Yellow. I still remember the joy of coming home and beginning my journey. Little did I know it would be a lot longer than just catching those original 151.

I still have my copy with the original save data. It's in my GBA sitting on my dresser. I think I may fire it up now.

Roxichu October 11th, 2010 7:35 PM

My first game was Red back in 1999, and I am quite proud to be a genuine, old-school veteran of the fandom. ;)

PaxAmericana October 11th, 2010 8:36 PM

Sadly, my first was Platinum that was a easter gift, god i remember that morning, like 5:00 in the morning, we were about to go to sunrise service at church, and i looked in the easter basket, and there was Pokemon Platinum!!!!!!

Roxichu October 11th, 2010 8:48 PM

New fans have it easy...I remember the time when if you wanted to trade and you didn't have a Pokemon-playing friend in reasonable travel distance, you were out of luck. Now you just put something on the Global Trade Station and all the work is done for you. :pirate:

Rengoku October 11th, 2010 8:53 PM

Pokemon Yellow!
-Is an old time veteran now and is proud I'm still with Pokemon till recent generation-

benjamoid October 17th, 2010 11:22 AM

Diamond. I got into the franchise late in terms of the games.

Captain Hobo. October 17th, 2010 11:29 AM

My frist game was leaf green I played it a bunch then, lost it.

Charizard★ October 17th, 2010 12:26 PM

My first Pokemon game was Saphire for GBA :D
But the first game I played was Silver.

Cold Fusion October 17th, 2010 12:37 PM

My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Crystal version. At the age of seven I technically got it off my old neighbour who gave it to my elder brother but, he was playing Pokemon Yellow still so he let me "borrow" it, eventually I became addicted to it and kept it for myself. He didn't seem too bothered that I pitched his Pokemon Crystal Version, in fact I still have it now. He cared a lot, didn't he?

Nohr October 17th, 2010 1:41 PM

My first game was Pokemon Blue, when I was about 8 or 9. Then I got red, then Yellow. When Gold and Silver came out, I bought SIlver first, then Gold a few weeks later.

I skipped R/S, as the pokemon looked like something my little brother drew, picked up LG for nostalgia and then came back to Gen 4. I got pearl, and then HG, and SS. I let my girlfriend have my Pearl, so she could play with me (now she's obsessed, and also has my SS) So I got platinum. I recently went back and bought Saphire, though, I want to find emerald and can't find it in any stores.

I still feel like gen 3 is the one where they were lacking in originality, but they're still fun. I enjoy the region, if not the story/pokemon within it. It's okay, as I pretty much exclusively use 1st and second gen pokemon only.

Time Guardian October 17th, 2010 2:09 PM

My first was the Red version, which I got during Christmas of '98. That was I believe way back when I was in 3rd grade as well.

Gosh it's been a while, I got Blue with my own allowance some time after. And the Christmas that Yellow came out I got that along with the GBC then as well. But that is sorta besides the point. XD

Garouga! Bare Your Fangs! October 17th, 2010 2:27 PM

I got Blue first, and I loved it. That is, until I got to the old man laying in the road and attempted to catch him.

bOxieLiciOus October 17th, 2010 2:31 PM

my first game was of course, pokemon yellow. i think i gave it to my friend. xx;

Ho-Oh October 18th, 2010 1:18 AM

/reads up
Easter Gift? Wow. XD;

Anyway, my first game was Gold (yeah started gen 2), but then went to Crystal and got R/B/Y, so I didn't miss out on gen 1 that much, since I was still young at that time, (though Gold/Crystal was better than playing gen 1 for the first time). --Ooh, just remembered when I played through and was facing Erika in my backyard, random. XD;

Project. October 19th, 2010 7:28 PM

My first ever was Silver. I remember I got stuck on Jasmine with my Pidgeot.. It was all I trained. A level 54 Pidgeot and that Lv. 22 Bayleef in the corner. Sadly, I lost that cartridge. I'd love to go back and play it sometime.

Stupid Magnemite.

femtrooper October 19th, 2010 7:55 PM

First Pokémon game I ever played was Blue. I was 9 years old. It was the best experience ever and it pretty much changed my life forever. Sounds weird...but I'm on a Pokémon forum so I'm sure people will get it!^^

Then, in order, these are the games I played:
  • Silver
  • Emerald
  • Diamond
  • Fire Red
  • Soul Silver

I just bought Pokémon Red at a pawn shop the other day and I'm playing it old school in my Gameboy Color! Soooo excited!

dragonite149 October 19th, 2010 9:52 PM

My first Pokemon game was a R4 with Pokemon games on. Those games were DPPt,PMD Darkness and PMD Time.

Although I did play a little of my friends LG, to get a taster of the games.

the :D October 19th, 2010 11:20 PM

my first was silver. however, since my brother primarily played it because I was like "OH GOD WAT DO NAOW???" and he just did it.

the first game I owned and played all on my lonesome is yellow and sapphire can also count, because I stole yellow from my brother, more or less. still play it. :D

Elder Trainer October 21st, 2010 5:12 PM

Yellow for me....watched the anime when it debuted on Kid's WB and got into it, then I played a demo of Yellow and was hooked....bought a Game Boy Color just to play it (since my old Game Boy had been stolen several years before).

King Gumball October 22nd, 2010 3:20 PM

My first pokemon was Gold version. It was sooooo cool, and I played through the whole game around six or seven times. I remember playing on my Gameboy Colour and I must have been like 6 or seven or something and I remember thinking how completely awesome the graphics were LOL. I cant ever play that Gold again though because of how bad the graphics seem now. Ironic. My next game was Sapphire on my Gameboy SP then Emerald, then Diamond, then Platinum then HG and soon Black and White.

Krizor October 27th, 2010 10:11 PM

My first game was Blue Version.

I got it for my 10th birthday.

Brendino October 27th, 2010 10:22 PM

The first Pokemon game that I played was Pokemon Yellow. Thinking back, I'm actually surprised that I was quite good at it, despite being 7 or 8. However, this wasn't technically my first game, as Yellow was my cousin's. The first game that I actually owned was Pokemon Gold.

Asrodrig October 27th, 2010 10:35 PM

Pokemon Blue for me. Ah, the good old days, when there were only 150 Pokemon and you could get lvl 132 Venusaurs by talking to the Old Man.

Skylands November 4th, 2010 5:20 PM

I've been a Pokemon fan since the very beginning. I embarked my journey with Blue version, and then proceeded onto the future games.

Black Prince November 5th, 2010 12:43 AM

I...Don't remember exactly, but I followed Pokemon from the beginning. If my memory's good, I think my first version was the Yellow one.
I remember when I was playing that game while my dad was driving, I was totally into the Pokemon world, I wasn't even paying any attention to the outside as I usually do now.

PiPVoda November 14th, 2010 10:10 AM

Ruby version, and to think I asked my mom for Hamtaro...she must have gotten them confused! :D

PKMN trainer Sean November 14th, 2010 10:47 AM

I got the games in this order:
  1. Blue
  2. Red
  3. Yellow
  4. Silver
  5. gold
  6. crystal
  7. Saphire (turns out it was fake), made me lose interest
  8. Fire red (turns out it was fake)
then I lost interest for a while, got some extra money and bought a new game 4 years later
  1. Diamond
  2. Platium
  3. Soul silver
  4. Heart gold
  5. Emerald

PiPVoda November 14th, 2010 10:57 AM

wow, how did you get two fake games?

Rivian November 14th, 2010 11:49 AM

My first was Fire Red, and i loved it :)
But then I played crystal, and I figured out how everything else is lame XD
perfect game, story, day/night mechanics, special balls, and a BATTLE WITH RED XD
crystal rules :D

Shadow Ball November 14th, 2010 12:03 PM

Pokemon Red. *goes into nostalgia mode* I still have it. I have my original play-through, I was only 8 years old... but my team kicks butt! Charizard, Scyther, Haunter, Alakazam, Vaporeon, Raichu. <3 I'll never lose it or give it away. It's a momento of my love for Pokemon. :]

I remember the day my dad took me to get it, I also got my Lime Green Gameboy Color. It was the coolest thing ever, back then. xD

Ace Trainer Jessie November 14th, 2010 12:25 PM

My first game was Pokemon Red, I got it along with a neon green GBC (:

DarkVhozon November 16th, 2010 12:06 PM

Mine was Yellow version, the strange thing being I had no idea what pokemon was, had never seen the anime, or knew why the thunderstone I bought from the department store wouldnt work after 3milion tries(I even tried turning the game off, waiting literally years and then retrying just to confirm lol good times)
Now that I think about it I didnt no it was pokemon until years later, when I picked the series backup at Fire Red and sensed something oddly familiar lol

ggctuk November 16th, 2010 12:57 PM

Pokemon Yellow was not only my first Pokemon game but my first video game. I knew all about Pokemon by then - my friends would bring in the trading cards, their game boys on last day etc, the anime was broadcast every Saturday and Sunday morning on CITV, but it was actually about a year after the beginning of Pokemon on UK shores that I got Yellow (alongside a then-brand new Game Boy Color... which I still have locked in one of my drawers along with my GBA). Yellow is also the only Game Boy game (discounting the two GBA Pokemon games I have) I still have, having given Silver and Gold to my sisters (both ran out of battery power not long after I gave them to my sisters ) along with Blue.

sfalpharyu November 16th, 2010 1:24 PM

mine was red
1. Red
2.Gold
3.Silver
4.Blue
5.Fire Red
6.Diamond
7.Pearl
8.Soul Silver

Aquacorde November 16th, 2010 1:39 PM

My first game was Pokemon Emerald, and I loved it~ It's still my favorite game~

Haberdasher November 16th, 2010 1:54 PM

My first game was Blue, and I got it as a Christmas gift. I had a Bulbasaur as my starter, and leveled it up to a Level 100 Venusaur with crap moves (I know it had Cut...). I also had a legitimate Mew that was level 50-something. Don't really remember the others- possibly a Persian? Anyhow, after my parents had a get-together at our house, I discovered that the game had been saved over for one with a level 6 Charmander named something silly like Chubby.

MareBear November 17th, 2010 7:03 PM

Mine was Yellow, given to me by my cousin for my birthday. Surprisingly, I was pretty good 'cause I distinctly remember beating the game. I still pick it up once in awhile but my original file was erased long ago. Gold was my second game that, I believe, I bought for myself. However, I never realized there was the Kanto part to the story so after playing the main game, I just stopped. I was a stupid child back then. -_-

dialga493 November 17th, 2010 7:18 PM

the first i played was technically Yellow (hehe it was my brother and he had a perfect game and i started a new game) but the one I fully played was Crystal

Spacial Sage November 17th, 2010 7:26 PM

Crystal. I was six.

I am still honoring it to this day on Soulsilver with the typhlosion I started with.

<3

avolonsaber November 18th, 2010 4:52 AM

My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Red, that was the game that started it all for me. 'Cuz I had bought and beaten Red I bought Blue, then Yellow, Silver, Gold, Crystal, Ruby, Emerald, FireRed & Leafgreen, Diamond, Platinum, and Soulsilver. I still have Red Version, its not the original, but still :D

mervyn797 November 18th, 2010 8:31 AM

My first Pokemon game was Emerald. Even though I used to watch the Anime ever since I was around 3 years old, (lol) I was introduced to the games only in 2006. Then soon enough Pokemon D/P were released and yeah.. I became a Pokemon game addict. XD

Silmeria November 18th, 2010 8:53 AM

Pokemon Red, waaaaay back in the day. My friend had Blue, and I thought Charizard looked cooler than Blastoise anyway. I've bought every single mainstream game except Gold (it cost a great deal of money when it was first released after all, and for some reason I never got around to it later...) to come out since then, and a large majority of the spinoffs.

72pokemonmaniac27 November 18th, 2010 9:25 AM

My first Pokemon game was Yellow :) When i was little my cousins got me into it the i begged my mom to get the game for me as well as the game boy color Pokemon addition XD

Meriaali November 29th, 2010 5:26 AM

Platinum, and that's the only one I have. :3

Fredward December 1st, 2010 9:45 AM

My first game was Yellow when I was 8ish.
Gold, which I loved more than anything just because I had a Dragonite.
Ruby, I always kicked my brother's butt when we link battled :D.
Emerald, but I gave it away, it wasn't that...great to me.
Pearl, but I sold it back to the store :p.
Heart Gold, my favorite to date!!
Platinum, :l.

My brother would always get the opposite game, and we battled to settle our arguments.
:D.

LightOfTruth December 1st, 2010 12:13 PM

My first game was Pokemon Red. I didn't know anything about The Mew Glitch or Missingno back then though :)

da_absol December 1st, 2010 12:15 PM

..Pokemon silver version. An awesome game, still like it better than the remakes...

♠Dawn Rayne♠ December 1st, 2010 12:55 PM

My Dad bought me a Gameboy Color and Pokemon Yellow when I was 8 years old, I will never forget that day. I was in love with the series from that point forward.

Butterfree-Charizard December 1st, 2010 1:04 PM

Pokemon yellow :) to this day i still love it.

ManhattanTheStarr December 1st, 2010 1:27 PM

Sadly, my first Pokemon game was Sapphire. =/
I just wasn't into Pokemon when I was younger, but the whole Mystery Dungeon thing kinda got me into it. (Technically, my first Pokemon game was PMD: Blue Rescue Team, but I don't count that as a REAL Pokemon game). :x

joel641 December 1st, 2010 1:42 PM

my first game was pokemon red i had to ask my mom a hundred times to tell my big bro to give me the game lol... good times

Meganium December 1st, 2010 9:12 PM

My first Pokemon game? Pokemon Red. Got it as a birthday gift back when it was recently released. Unfortunately I lost it when I moved to a different city. (More likely I threw it away by mistake. :( )

terrence107 December 2nd, 2010 4:51 AM

I got Pokemon Blue for my birthday when i was about 12....I have never been so addicted to a game in my life!

Zelda December 2nd, 2010 5:02 AM

My first Pokémon Game was when I was 7 years old. It was Pokémon Sapphire and I absolutely fell in love with the Pokémon generations every since. I never really have anything bad to say about the games as I always get adjusted to new changes I've known about Pokémon before I was seven as my brother was into it as well so when I got the game I knew how to do most of the stuff. I love the memories of my Poképast. :P

Calamity December 2nd, 2010 5:33 AM

My 1st game I believe was Crystal, I remember grinding my Chikorita to level 20 on the 1st few routes, dont really remember much else from that, lol :D

Kites December 3rd, 2010 10:17 AM

Mine was blue. I must have been 10 or 11 at the time... I remember it took me months to save up for a gameboy by doing chores for my parents. Then yellow came out and I got that the following Christmas. Loved both of them. =)

dragoniteuser December 4th, 2010 2:06 PM

Kinda ashamed to admit it but it was Pokémon Sapphire, a couple of years ago.
I was into Pokémon since always, but I wasn't even aware of the games... :/
But I HAVE played them all!

dithyrambos December 4th, 2010 2:50 PM

Pokemon Snap took away my PokeGinity. ♥ Then I bought Pokemon Stadium 2. I didn't have any of the GB handhelds at the time so I had to make do with what I did have: an N64. I miss those games ( and the system ) so much... :(

Legendary Silke December 4th, 2010 8:26 PM

My first Pokémon game? That will have to be Pokémon Red, lots of years ago. Too bad I gave it away. Not that I have anything to run it on, though.

esperance December 4th, 2010 8:50 PM

My first Pokemon game would have to be Emerald. I got it when I got my ds. It was the one of the first games I was allowed to get, because my parents were very uptight about video games.

MurasakiYugata December 4th, 2010 10:39 PM

I believe my first was Pokémon Blue.

Massacre. December 4th, 2010 11:12 PM

If I remember correctly, then Pokemon Yellow.

NekoNekoChan December 5th, 2010 3:57 AM

To be honest, Mine was Fire-Red, Then I really got addicted to Pokemon! XD;

Eagledelt December 5th, 2010 11:25 AM
