New Discussion Question:
What do you think about the 5th gen Poison Types?
I personally like and dislike this design http://static.marriland.com/images/bw/sprites/front/norm/591_morobareru_front_norm.png I would like to read its Dex entry , but I cant find it anywhere. I like Pendoraa (spelling?)http://static.marriland.com/images/bw/sprites/front/norm/545_pendoraa_front_norm.png and am willing to give this one http://static.marriland.com/images/bw/sprites/front/norm/569_dasutodasu_front_norm.pnga try as it looks.....unique.

dragoniteuser October 15th, 2010 7:40 AM

I knew this topic will be next! :)
I like some of them, but generally I dislike the Isshu Pokemon...
The mushroom is OK, and Pendora is perfect, but that last thing, I HATE it! Sereously what were they thinking?!

(Off-topic)
Spoiler:

Gearuvagen you should check the BFC... there's a lil' sum' sum' for ya there! ;)

Makbets October 15th, 2010 8:08 AM

http://static.marriland.com/images/bw/sprites/front/norm/545_pendoraa_front_norm.png rocks! It's the best poison type pokemon in isshu!

Christopher October 15th, 2010 8:18 AM

We have Pokemon based on Magnets,Lawn Mowers,PokeBalls,Computer Programs, and Refrigerators so why not a Garbage Bag http://static.marriland.com/images/bw/sprites/front/norm/568_yabukuron_front_norm.png lol I mean theres not much left.

dragoniteuser October 15th, 2010 8:49 AM

I know, but it's just so ugly!
All's fare, this generation was not generous on poison Pokemon!
Haven't played BW yet, so I can only hope they improved poison moves!

Christopher October 15th, 2010 9:30 AM

I Like the new Move Called Venom Shock Power 65 its power Doubles if target is poisoned
also there is Sludge wave which has a base power of 95 so STAB plus that will be great.

Makbets October 15th, 2010 9:34 AM

Toxic and Venom Shock would make a great combination! :D

Christopher October 15th, 2010 9:52 AM

true but I imagine it will be hard to use competitively as if you Toxic a pokemon they will most likely switch out to prevent a 135+STAB+Type Boosting Item powered Venom Shock.
I can't wait to see the B/W Competitive Strategies what with the new moves and abilities.

Oh and there is also Coil which boosts Attack,Defense and Accuracy. I like this for Physical attackers with a OHKO move.

dragoniteuser October 15th, 2010 9:56 AM

So Coil is basicaly a new Bulk up, with the accuracy stat rise! Me likey! :D
Well at least they improved Poison attacks a bit...

Christopher October 15th, 2010 10:06 AM

Bad thing about Coild is it can only be taught to 8 Pokemon Ekans,Arbok,Dunceparse,Seviper,The Jarooda Line and Shibibiiru. so I h=guess it helps the Snake's sub par Defense but other than that.....

I like the mushroom! it looks MUCH better than that mutant crystal thingy... & since Grimer & Muk came from sludge somehow, wouldn't it make sense for garbage bags to come to life in the same way? & Pendoraa does look awesome!

Christopher October 15th, 2010 10:52 AM

I used the same logic when I first saw Yabakuron (Garbage bag guy)
Has anyone noticed the insanely high evolution levels in B/W?

dragoniteuser October 16th, 2010 7:27 AM

I know... O.o
Kinda ruins Dragonite's and Tyranitar's exclusiveness!
Not to mention that they are WAY TOO HIGH! It doesn't make any sence...

Christopher October 16th, 2010 8:25 AM

there has always been a few that were high but you caught them high. E.G Grimer.
but most B/W evos are high and you catch the pokemon low,and with there are no Pokemon from other region so its all new ground kinda Daunting.
anyway.... New Topic

Nidoking for Ice pokemon, Venusaur, Tentacruel and Crobat for the ground pokemon, and Drapion and Gengar for the Psychic Pokemon! :)

5th Gen Poisons aren't to bad but compared to other generations not as good.

The Mushroom isn't too bad, I do like the expression on his face XD but not a fan of his pokeball hands. Pendora is awesome and one of the coolest bug and Poison types. The garbage bag thing is alright not to bad.

What is your Poison Pokemon Dream Team

Dream team would be

Toxicroak
Drapion
Crobat
Tentacruel
Ariados
Venusaur

Didn't pay attention much to how they would in battle, just picked my favorites XD

Miss Doronjo October 17th, 2010 7:05 AM

May Miss Doronjo join? =)
Like heck; I believe the poison types are underrated. :<

What is your favorite Poison Type- Nidoqueen cause its spunky unlike its brother. :3 And it has breasts as well but I'm not going all perv now. D:

Seviper and Arbork is pretty kewl too because they are both snakes. :3 *In B4 Snakes on Plane reference*

What is your favorite Poison Move- Poision Tail, and Sludge Bomb...I was gonna say Toxic Spikes but when I use it, it always gets sucked up by like a Roserade or something. :3

What is you favorite Shiny Poison type- Roserade. ^.^ It always looks lovely~

Which generation has the Best poison pokemon- Kanto's region; cause Oldies are the goldies~

What was the first Poison type you caught- Venonat; cause I liked it more than Venomoth and raised it to Lv 54. before finally letting it evolve.

Christopher October 17th, 2010 8:36 AM

Welcome Aboard Miss Doronjo would you like a partner Pokemon?

also My dream team
Nidoking
Tentacruel
Seviper
Arbok
Skuntank
Roserade

I figured it made sense due to having better overall pokemon in the region.
(Pendoraa has much better stats than Beedrill, the Dark/Dragon has no stat rating lower than 90, while other non-legendary dragons do, Etc.)

dragoniteuser October 17th, 2010 12:55 PM

Welcome to Miss Dorojo! :)
^^ And that better pokemon, I wouldn't agree... but I guess that's just my opinion...

Christopher October 17th, 2010 1:59 PM

@Stoney yes some of their stats are higher than usual but theres this:
Pendoraa -Hp-60/Att-90/Def-89/Sp.A-55/Sp.D-69/Spe-112=475
Ninjask - Hp-61/Att-90/Def-45/Sp.A-50/Sp.D-50/Spe-160=456
Roughly 20 point difference from a 2 tier evo line to a 3 tier evo line a pokemon that evolves at level 20 V.S a Pokemon that evolves at level 22 and again at 30
Another example
Lamprah Hp-60/Att-40/Def-60/Sp.A-95/Sp.D-60/Spe-55 you get this pokemon when it evolves from Hitomoshi at Level 41....So some of them do not have superior stats.

Miss Doronjo October 17th, 2010 6:25 PM

My Poison Mon- team goes like this:

Nidoqueen / Gengar / Tentacruel / Weezing / Stunktank / Crobat

Yeah. ^.^

Sometimes I'll allowed to use stuff like skarmory or blissey to take tyrantiar and alakazam hits~

Christopher October 18th, 2010 10:21 AM

I find that skuntank is a good Alakazam deterrent and when you think it is about to use focus blast switch in Gengar to negate it one shadow ball should take down your average Alakazam or at least in my experiences.

Well, I was trying to macth them to their counter parts from other gens...
(I think Pendoraa is supposed to be the 5th gen Beedrill...)
& If I'm right, Lamprah evolves again with a dusk stone (at any level!) into a chandlier that has 145 Sp.atk(!) & have other good stats. (nowhere near as high as the Sp.atk, but still good...)

Chord October 18th, 2010 5:22 PM

Name: Chord
Favorite Poison Pokemon: Beedrill
Why Its Your Favorite: Bees are awesome animals, it angers me how Beedrill has shown NO development over the Gens. Gen V didn't even change it's level up moveset
Partner-Beedrill

Christopher October 18th, 2010 5:27 PM

^Point taken but still level 41 is high and I have no idea how soon a dusk stone is obtainable plus that would make it somewhat of an alakazam counterpart who evolves from a trade so harder to obtain for some. but one difference is Abra evolves at 16 into a Pokemon better than Lamprah IMO but anyway we're getting a little far from "Poison Pokemon" So.......new topic.
DO you think a Non Poison type Pokemon should have a Poison Typing or a Poison Pokemon that should not be poison type?

Welcome Chord, Beedrill is awesome Poison and Bug

Thanks

I've always wondered what the Poison typed Eeveelution would look like. That's probably my most anticipated Poison typer

Christopher October 18th, 2010 5:38 PM

^and How would it evolve I would love to see it. Maybe trade with Toxic Sludge?

I was thinking about Breloom due to it has a poison heal ability.

Chord October 18th, 2010 5:41 PM

^ That's probably why it hasn't been made yet ;-;
It would've made sense to introduce it in the new city-like structure of GenV. There's bound to be a polluted area somewhere where levelling up would cause it to evolve just like Leafeon and Glaceon.

I think it would be understood about Breloom since it's a mushroom but by that logic, Paras and Parasect should fit in well

Christopher October 18th, 2010 5:57 PM

I don't know if I would count Parasect as a poison type though it is a mushroom it is technically a Bug infected by a brain-jacking fungi (bulbapedia origin of species) where Breloom is a fungi.
Also if they made a poison Eeveelution they would have to make one for every type a plan I thought they were going to do until this recent generation

dragoniteuser October 19th, 2010 12:57 AM

How about a wyvern Pokemon (Dragon/Poison)?

Pokémandias October 19th, 2010 1:01 AM

I'd say my favorite is Weezing. Put some Will-O-Wisp on him and he's good to go, Johto! Fav Poison type move hmm, I'm not sure. Toxic I guess. Gen I has the best Poison types, all the rest are, I dunno. Toxicroak is good but he needs evolution.

dragoniteuser October 19th, 2010 1:07 AM

Um Pokemandias, you need to be a member to post here...
Just ask for membership, and I'm sure that Gearuvagen will accept you! :)

Christopher October 19th, 2010 8:56 AM

^ indeed I will

and a Dragon/Poison pokemon would be epic.

Edit: New Topic
What Ability do Poison Pokemon have that you find useful?

What Ability do Poison Pokemon have that you find useful?

Indeed, a Dragon/Poison pokemon would be epic.
In reply to the topic:
They poison stuff.

Christopher October 19th, 2010 10:38 AM

^ I meant like their actual abilities Like Drapions Battle armor or Sniper

Oh, I see now...

From the top of my head, Roserade's Natural Cure.

IanDonyer October 20th, 2010 4:27 AM

Yo. Totally want to be a member here -- love most Poison types.

Top three favorites?

Crobat, Crobat, and Crobat- *shot* FINE, Crobat, Seviper, and Ariados.

What is your favorite Poison Type - CROBATCROBATCROBATCROBAT
What is your favorite Poison Move - Poison Fang. With STAB, decent damage and the chance to badly poison.
What is you favorite Shiny Poison type - Seviper.
Which generation has the Best poison pokemon - Gen 2, because it introduced CROBATTTTTTT- I like Crobat.
What was the first Poison type you caught - Zubat. Never really been the biggest fan of Poison Types prior, and tried to raise one in Diamond... dear god, I started to fall in love

Partner: Crobat, please.

What Ability do Poison Pokemon have that you find useful? - Personally, I like Drapion's Sniper.

My closing statement consists of three words: I like Crobat.

Christopher October 20th, 2010 8:28 AM

Welcome IanDonyer and Crobat is indeed an awesome Pokemon.

oh and I'l say My favorite ability is Shed Skin , the ability to heal a status effect without having to switch out is a blessing though Natural Cure is just as good and a little more reliable.

Chord October 21st, 2010 5:15 PM

I'll have to check the list of Poison types and their abilities before I make a solid decision

I will say that Natural Cure is really useful though especially since we can't get poisoned it's just to shake off a paralysis or cure a burn

Crobat <3
I was gonna use one as my flier but I decided it would take too long to raise a Zubat from level 2 >.<

I never liked Shed Skin; it never worked for me until it was too late but the minute I status something that has it, it loses the status (-3-)/

Ah yes I've had this happen to me many times In-game. Usually though My Seviper comes through and shakes whatever status it is currently inflicted with.

Do think that Poison should be weak to more/Different types or Resistant to more/different types?

Chord October 21st, 2010 5:47 PM

^ I never got the connections with Poison to Ground and Psychic or Steel so I can't really say.

I mean, chemically metals react when exposed to acid which is what I base the poison type to be.

Very Reasonable but it is a two way street as some chemicals and poisons would beed and roll right off of steel so maybe it should be normally effective instead of completely immune

dragoniteuser October 22nd, 2010 1:10 AM

Acid and poison are to COMPLETLY different things.
But I don't understand why poison type attacks are super-effective only against Grass types... O.o

Guess what? I'm doing just that on SoulSilver!
I named her Batgirl! (How orignal, eh?)
I must say I got her VERY early in the game... I don't know how early/late you were talking about in the games...

dragoniteuser October 22nd, 2010 10:52 AM

You can catch Zubat in the Dark cave...
That's before the first gym battle!

I think Poison should have a super effectiveness against Normal as well

Wow, you've got patience. When I was starting off my flier options were Pidgey, Spearow or Zubat but I went the completely different route and caught and traded a Murkrow from my Dia. Catching one from Dark Cave is the best option though since by the time it becomes a Golbat the Happiness would already be high so it won't be long until you have a beloved Crobat. I learned that in FireRed

I can definitly agree with this! Poison type attack should be super-effective against Normal type Pokemon! Hm... maybe even Fighting pokemon...

Chord October 23rd, 2010 8:56 AM

I wouldn't say Fighting but I see your point. Fighting types are just normal types that know martial-arts

Miss Doronjo October 24th, 2010 2:18 PM

GIUSE GUISE GIUSE---
I like Drapion nowz. <3 A Scorpionnnnnn. :O

I wish there was a way to poison steel types someday...I'll dedicate my work with dangerous chemicals with my lab garenteed to turn myself into a mutant octopus to find out how to poison a Jirachi! ;-;

Waiiitttt, actually, there's a 5t h gen move that turns any type of pokemon into water; so that is a kewl way to poison steels. XP

Chord October 24th, 2010 2:28 PM

^ Waterlog :P

Waterlogthen Toxic? Sound like a plan but what Poison types learn Waterlog if any?

Miss Doronjo October 24th, 2010 2:37 PM

Nodda. ^.^
(If only Octillery and Wailord will join the poison side~)[/star warz pun]

Gah, I thought quilfish might, but KILLfish won't allow it...
/headdesks
Things confuzzle me.

Chord October 24th, 2010 2:44 PM

Or Tentacruel for the least. Tentacruel should be able to learn Waterlog so we can poison those Steels

Miss Doronjo October 24th, 2010 3:03 PM

Yeah; tenta too; oops, forgot about it. ^.^;
Tentacruel got alot better with Boil Over-- so kewl to burn incoming tyranitars. :3

Also Squidward's favorite. ^.^
I always imagine it shaking its tentacruels and having two neighbours: Ludicolo and Starmie. ^^ Eh, well, I'd thought Ludicolo was more like a spongbob pokemon, lol. <3

Christopher October 24th, 2010 3:03 PM

Sorry guys was gone for a few days
Ive Added you Curious sorry about the wait.

dragoniteuser October 25th, 2010 4:45 AM

What's up Gear, where have you been?

Don't really see the point in wasting two move slots, just to poison a Pokemon... :/

Christopher October 25th, 2010 1:41 PM

I was helping some People move thus was not at my house and had no access to my Computer so I might be absent later too :(

@Miss Doronjo - Squidward=Tentacruel? O.o I never thought about that :)

Yes, but who will you team up with? And what moves does arbok know? each move containing 5 pp

Christopher November 19th, 2010 8:42 PM

Perhaps you can then host a match?

Christopher November 19th, 2010 8:57 PM

that would be you as Host of the match umpires and states how much damage a move does.

dragoniteuser November 20th, 2010 1:32 AM

Hey Gear, thanks for the promotion!
If you really need a host, I'll be glad to step in! :)

Christopher November 20th, 2010 4:59 AM

well still need people to realize the clubs back up and going for those participating to find a partner and choose a Pokemon. It might be some time before the actual contest starts but thanks for offering help.

Tribal Ebony November 21st, 2010 11:58 PM

Yes Gear you are right. Draggy, you may host the match(es) depending on if others want to host. Gear, we may be able to create a hall of fame. We can have everyones names up there, stating what sort of competitions they've won.... Gear, wanna team up? I'll have a Tentacruel.

Haze 5pp

Ok, gear and I are in the comp. Any other members feel free to enter. So far we have draggy as a host. Draggy, are you willing-(If other members dont), to host all matches? Because it would be unfair to put all the pressure on you.

dragoniteuser November 23rd, 2010 6:13 AM

Sure, I don't mind, but don't shoot me if I make a mistake... ;)
I'll put all the hosting in purple, so if annyone wants to skip it, or find it, it'll be a lot easier!

Ladies and gents, grab your seats, cause this is gonna be one hell of a ride!
Gear sents out his Crobat, and Tribal sent out her Tentacruel! *the crowd is going crazy*
