Worst Pokemon Game

What, in your opinion, is the worst Pokemon game ever, in my opinion, it was Dash, it's nothing but a complete waste of your time, has no storyline, has no significance to the series whatsoever, and there is only one playable character, and that is Pikachu, and nobody else, what do you think is the worst Pokemon game, it can be either the main games or the spinoffs.....

PlatinumDude October 12th, 2010 8:05 PM

I don't really know about worst Pokemon games, but I did find Dash the least enjoyable among them because the only Pokemon you can play as is Pikachu.

Sydian October 12th, 2010 8:13 PM

I hate FireRed and LeafGreen. They didn't add much new to the game and just made a rushed rehash of the original Red and Blue. The music was awful as well. Spriting was great though, I'll give it that, but they could have given these remakes more attention imo. The Sevii Islands and Ruby/Sapphire quest weren't really enough. I mean, look at all that was added to HGSS. Now, you might argue that this didn't happen because GSC were longer games and were missing a lot originally, so there was a lot of room to play with on HGSS, but think about it. HGSS at least let you get some new evos, like Yanmega and Tangrowth. You couldn't even get Crobat or Blissey in FRLG, and it was really damn annoying having to watch it attempt to evolve all the time. Nintendo logic says Golbat can't be Crobat because your POKEDEX, just some electronic Pokemon encyclopedia, doesn't allow it. Yeah. Makes a lot of sense.

I could rant more, but I'm not really in the mood. But that's just my opinion. At the time of their release, they were great. I just eventually got to where I realized I would rather play the original because they didn't do the original games any favors. And changing gamblers to gamers! Absurd!

Project. October 12th, 2010 8:21 PM

I also agree with FireRed. The music was terrible. The lazy way they seemed to set everything up just piled onto it. And the storyline is so blank. Like the tea part.

1. You walk into old lady's house
2. She gives you tea
3. Go to guards "Im thirsty!"
4. Give them tea
5. "I am no longer thirsty, therefore I will resign my duties and allow you to go in."

And just overall the game is confusing. I haven't played many spinoff games, such as dash... but I have played Colosseum and PKRV. They're both good though.

RivalGator October 12th, 2010 8:29 PM

I have never played Dash, and I like the GameBoy games, even if they do have odd parts. They usually keep me busy. I may be a little 'grr' at a couple of them because I dislike changes made to them or parts that seem really unworthy of the game, but I like them anyway.

Honestly, I just wasn't a big fan of Pokemon XD. I hated how you couldn't walk the paths to the towns and cities you wanted to go to, had to set out PokeFood to get wild Pokemon, which were usually crappy and hard to find... Especially the ones you really want. The Spot Monitor always goes off when I am doing something important and don't want to leave. I hated that thing. The only thing I liked was the Battle Tower.

how dare you insult FRLG

but yeah, I agree with you...

BUT! My least favorite is probably Gold

A. I hate ho-oh
B. the story seemed... soft
C. there was NOTHING to do after johto, Kanto bored me
D. Silver was better because Lugia made it a CHALLENGe to win, ho-oh was too easy with

Teh Blazer October 12th, 2010 8:55 PM

I'm pretty sure I'm wrong, but the Telefang "rip-off" games were the worst Pokemon games.
Technically, they weren't legit Pokemon games, but they had a logo on it, so you can't distrust a logo (same logic with a dollar). I found the Engrish funny, but the randomness and everything was just too bad for me. I laughed for ten minutes, realized I was in a place where you're screwed, then gave up and tossed it into the garbage. How fun.

May the ranting about how I'm totally wrong about even mentioning Diamond and Jade begin.

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ October 14th, 2010 9:44 AM

My favorite Pokemon character made her appearance in FR/LG so I can't say too much negative about it.

Among Pokemon games I've played, Battle Revolution was the least impressive. I mean, there was so much they could have added to it. Things brought over from the Stadium series, like the Gym Leader Castle and the mini-games. It felt like one of those half-hearted effort budget titles, only it didn't have a budget price.

Deathshot October 14th, 2010 9:54 AM

Anything after Gold, Silver, and Crystal for me. >_>

Its because of those games I gotta catch up again. XD
But yea, I know its kinda how anime and games go, you get money rolling in. That means its time to make a new game for more profit... but Its kinda got out of hand. I think Pokemon has more games the Final Fantasy officially now.

Sydian October 14th, 2010 10:41 AM

Oh, I completely disregarded spin offs. But to put FRLG on a higher scale, I would much rather be forced to play those two for the rest of my life rather than sit through PBR. I was hoping for something like Pokemon Stadium 2, but instead, I get this miserable pile of goat feces otherwise known as Pokemon Battle Revolution. Why did this disaster have to happen? Generation IV as a whole was a big disappoint to me. Only Platinum and HGSS seem to pick themselves out of the crapfest. They're great games, some of my favorites. But nearly every other Pokemon game to hit the market during generation IV, and not just PBR, was a waste of the dollar.

Planetes. October 14th, 2010 11:13 AM

I honestly don't have a least favorite game, I'm not saying I like every game, as I haven't enjoyed playing some of the aforementioned, though there are some games where little effort is shown. It wouldn't have been much to let us play as characters other than Pikachu in Dash, but its obvious GF did not have big plans for the game as they do with the main games.

La Denryu October 16th, 2010 6:23 PM

If you don't count spinoffs, I'm going with FRLG. The music is lazy and boring and sounds like it was done by an amateur remixer.

Plus, who names their kid LOSTELLE?

Out of the spinoffs, I'ma say Colosseum because I didn't have a gamecube and never got the chance to play it >:
...On a serious note, I hate Trozei. The art style is unique, but the gameplay is boring, and the music pisses me off, I'm sorry to say.

AshPikastar October 16th, 2010 6:29 PM

Pokemon Dash was one Pokemon game that I did not enjoy. I think I still have that game around my room somewhere.

Satoshi Ookami October 16th, 2010 11:32 PM

I don't hate any of Pokemon games but my least favorites are probably Trozei, Dash and the first Ranger. I mean I like Ranger games but the first one was awfully hard... (meaning Salamance/Charizard in storyline) I've never beaten it so that's probably why I don't like it very much...

The Corrupt Plague October 17th, 2010 1:56 AM

Official or Unofficial? Take your pick.

Unofficial- Pokemon Adventure for the Gameboy Color. It is a terrible ripoff of the Sonic series in which you play as what looks like a man wearing the world's ugliest Pikachu costume. It also has bad physics, bad level design, bad music, everything about it sucks and it's practically unplayable. This pirate is obscure for a good reason.

Official- Dash. Okay, to be honest, I never really played it but the reviews and videos I saw back in the day were enough to give me a good idea on what it was like and it looked bad, I'm glad that I chose Mario Kart DS over that one. What really scared me away was the bad, cramp inducing stylus controls that they apparently shoehorned in and then there was the fact that you could only play as Pikachu.

Rainbow-Sasuke October 17th, 2010 2:00 AM

Trozei. It sucks badly. I can't believe they even made it, let alone thought of making it.

CharCopter October 17th, 2010 7:28 AM

I really was dissapointed with pokemon battle revolution.

Dooonerz October 17th, 2010 7:45 AM

Pokemon Trozei. Seriously, it was Tetris.

bOxieLiciOus October 17th, 2010 2:36 PM

it's hard to choose, but i'd have to say that pokemon trozeii was the worst among the rest. :s

Garouga! Bare Your Fangs! October 17th, 2010 3:49 PM

Three words: Pokemon Puzzle League. I still have it, and I loathe it. Even if you practiced for hours on end, there was always some impossible addition to it a moment before you won. I actually started flinching when I saw the bigger blocks fall.

SandslashFTW October 17th, 2010 3:55 PM

For me, probably DPPt. It all just went downhill from there... Horrible Pokemon designs, billions of legendaries, terrible "3D" graphics (3rd generation graphics still look the best IMO), extremely slow and boring battle pace, I just couldn't stand it. I made it to the 3rd gym leader before I was ready to kill myself, and I quit and went back to RBY, haha.

I'm bored of the same old GBA games... I had them for almost 7 years..

I remember accidentally downloading that because of a mis-click on my part back when I was looking for an Emerald ROM. I figured that since I downloaded it, I might as well play with it for a little while before deleting it.

That Pikachu thing still haunts my nightmares to this day. D:

I've never finished D/P...ever. Sinnoh is too large and confusing to traverse, the graphics are quite ugly, and Galactic's storyline is far too cliche to be considered interesting. :/

BHwolfgang October 17th, 2010 4:56 PM

I'd have to say that Pokemon Pearl and Diamond was terrible. The worst would have to be Pokemon Dash, but everyone pretty much explained why it was. After completing Pokemon Platinum and SoulSilver, I decided to go back a bit before starting on HeartGold. So, I borrowed my friend's Pokemon Pearl that he doesn't play anymore.

After a while, I realized how much better Pokemon Platinum was. Overall, it pretty sucked and I hate some of the sprites. Mind you, some of those sprites survived and got into Pokemon Platinum, and I still hate it. Thank goodness that I chose not to buy it, or it would've been a waste of money.

Roxasabridged October 17th, 2010 5:17 PM

Pokemon Red and Blue Pinball... It's pinball.

Of the main series, any game from the 3rd gen. Hoenn was just an immensely boring region to traverse with the worst 'evil' teams in the games, and FR/LG felt like very slow versions of the first gen. Didn't help that it treated you like you'd never even played a game in your life.

Pyrax October 18th, 2010 7:30 AM

Probably Pokémon Ranger for me, then again, it wouldn't be fair 'cos I never got to complete it. :p

dragon0fangz October 18th, 2010 4:47 PM

That one PC ripoff game. i think it was Pokemon Masters Club or something...

Serebii94 October 18th, 2010 5:00 PM

For me, the worst one is Pokémon Trozei!. The reason: It was Tetris with Pokémon characters.

thedestinedblade October 18th, 2010 5:37 PM

I don't know about you, but I found Hey you! Pikachu! pretty terrible. I usually avoid pokemon spin-offs.

I forgot that game and the Pokémon Pikachu series. I hate games those kinds of games.

tkallab October 19th, 2010 11:37 AM

My Pokémon Ranch. Not really a game, but still. I hate the fact that it's incompatible with the newer games and you can't put a Pokémon from one game back into another.
As for the main games, Pokémon Yellow. Mainly because it's incredibly non-canon.

Demigod October 29th, 2010 10:18 AM

Hmm there is more then one that's for sure..

Clark October 30th, 2010 7:03 PM

I agree with the OP. Dash was just sort of... lolwhat.

As far as the more main-series games go, I'd have to say Fire Red and Leaf Green. Not because they're Gen1 remakes or anything; I do really like how they decided to remake the original games. It's just... the way they were set up. There were all these little things that bothered me when I played through Fire Red. All the help options with the really blatant explanations and whatnot, for instance. They seemed to be trying to make sure every person who picked up the game knew exactly how it all worked, like it was geared toward brand new players. ... Whereas none of the other games go so out of their way to do that sort of thing. And how the entire Sevii Islands felt like one big cryptic unexplained mystery. And how a few bits of music from RSE were used (like the "victory tune" that plays when you win a battle.) RSE's music was so perfectly fitting for Hoenn's atmosphere. In Kanto it just felt out of place.

I dunno, I just didn't enjoy FRLG very much. The original RBY games were much more fun to play, and didn't feel quite so generic. Not saying the fact that they're remakes is bad or anything (I myself adore HGSS about as much as the originals). They just could have done a much better job with them. And uh. Made them a bit less awkward.

Brave Jonah October 30th, 2010 8:26 PM

Of all the Pokemon games I've played, which is just about all of them, I'm going to have to go with Pokemon Snap. I know some people loved it, but I just couldn't get used to the idea that the entire breadth of the game was photo-taking.

gregory_turner420 November 1st, 2010 12:10 PM

hey you, pikachu was terrible. he never listened to a word you said

Palkia November 1st, 2010 12:27 PM

Pokemor Ranger was terrible and had that idiot, fatty charzaird. The charaters were ugly and souless and almost killed my touchscreen. Immensily boring and stupidly hard. Ironicly, Shadows of Almia is fantastic.

Zaroas November 1st, 2010 12:37 PM

The original Ranger game, I have to say. I mean, it took me a month to get past Salamence and Charizard respectifully. And those freaking dogs are so hard. I'm still trying to beat Suicune... >_<

I gave up on that stupid charzaird. He was impossible. Every time i see a video of it, i feel like the game was being unfair because i had to think of getting a AR. It's just awful.

bwburke94 November 2nd, 2010 4:46 PM

Probably Ranch. Even though I missed the recent Mew event. I'll just buy an AR for the goddamn Mew instead of getting Ranch AND Diamond or Pearl.
