Heh, that's ok - we all start off as newbies at some stage. =p

You won't be seeing 'legendary' Pokemon for some time I'm afraid (besides the roaming Pokemon Raikou/Entei but they can be found anywhere in Johto grass/water (only one of them and they always move as well) and they run away on the first turn - best to try to chase those after you've got the time/pokemon/etc.

First legendary Pokemon you'll see while playing is Lugia though, after you get 8 gym badges (found in the Whirl Islands after you visit Elm + Kimono girls in Ecruteak upon getting ther 8th badge), and at the neat level of 45 as well which'd be around/higher than your team's level/s when you get it. Any other legendary Pokemon besides the only-encounter-by-chance-and-very-hard-to-catch-anyways Raikou and Entei would be after beating the Elite four or even getting all 16 gym badges for a good number of the available legendary Pokemon however.

And if by 'legendary' you just mean strong Pokemon, well that's a totally different matter. =p Depends on your team (you wouldn't want to have 3 water types for instance) and generally most things will do well for you as long as you train them up enough. If you want team advice I'd suggest posting in the In-game Team Help section, as that's where such questions should go. =p

Any other questions ought to go to the HGSS Help thread sticky (which is at the top of this section). Going to close then as that basically sums it up - as said if you want more help try that section/thread respectively.
