Alright I'll keep that in mind!
(You don't happen to have a tutorial on the Pen Tool do you?)

Pikabloo March 13th, 2008 2:26 AM

I posted one on the tutorial thread (click).

It's not on rendering, but mainly on how to use the pen tool.

Perfectionist March 13th, 2008 2:53 AM

Thanks heaps you guys!
I had another question though..

How do I add light textures?

Volta. March 13th, 2008 4:28 PM

Hmm, do you mean textures that look like light? ...or "faint" textures? Sorry, your question was a little obscure! ^^;

Pikabloo March 14th, 2008 1:22 AM

Assuming that you're talking about stuff like this: click (totally not mine, just found on Photobucket)

You simply place them in, and set the layer mode to screen/colour dodge/linear dodge, then erase if necessary.

Perfectionist March 14th, 2008 2:27 AM

Ok thanks Shiranui once again! =)
Sorry about the obscurity of my question but yes that's what I meant..

sun_gogo March 16th, 2008 2:35 AM

yo, what is photo shop(new here)!!!

THIRTY-SIX March 16th, 2008 2:42 AM

Here's a link:
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/index.html

It's an image editing program, have fun.

Tazz March 16th, 2008 9:57 AM

Actually, limewire most certainly is NOT illegal. The program itself is just as legal as Photoshop, but the downloading music part is illegal. It's a file sharing program, but just started ripping CDs and putting the songs in their shared folders so people could access them.

Unforgettable March 16th, 2008 1:12 PM

Hokay. I just got Photoshop, and know NOTHING about it. I want to be able to make prettyful banners with it. Maybe some one can tell me how to use it or something...
Thanks!!

evilcheese March 16th, 2008 2:56 PM

well if your a beginner i would suggest looking at some tuts either here or other sites.

Azonic March 16th, 2008 3:33 PM

Okay, I just got the trial.

On my palette, I accidently deleted the Layers section. T_T How do I get it back? D:

evilcheese March 16th, 2008 3:38 PM

there should be a history option. if you dont see it go to window >history. then go to the part before you erased the layer.

Unforgettable March 16th, 2008 4:39 PM

Thanks!! I checked them out. I didn't know we had them, that is why I posted here. =/

No, I don't mean I deleted a layer. I mean I deleted the whole Layer Options in the Pallete. So I can't get to the colorize stuff or anything like that ;-;

Volta. March 16th, 2008 9:58 PM

Oh, that's simple then! ^_^ Just drop down the Window menu from the top and hit Layers, and it should pop up on screen again. From there you can drag the tab back into its original window.

Azonic March 17th, 2008 3:11 PM

Oh mai gawsh, I love you Ratiasu ;-;

loljk, but thanks so much ^_^

Renyui! March 18th, 2008 9:16 PM

hey guys, its me poke'd
can you make good banners in ps elements?
thanks.

Volta. March 19th, 2008 5:04 PM

Photoshop elements has many tools for making good banners. I used to use it before I got CS2. If you're just starting out, Elements is the way to go since it's much cheaper than the full vers.

Last I remember, Elements has all the things you need for good banners (blur tools, distortion, color editing, marquees, pens, etc.). So to answer your question, yes, PS Elements is a good enough tool to make good banners.

Perfectionist March 22nd, 2008 3:17 PM

Hey guys I got a question!
How do I blend a render into the background?
What is the easiest way to blend?
What is the neatest way to blend?

Thanks!

Uryū Ishida March 23rd, 2008 7:44 PM

There is no "way" to blend, there are many different techniques, such as Gradient maps, photos philters, smudging, and using key colours from your render in the background, look for Full Signature Tutorials on Google, and you will learn how to blend just from those.

Sorry to jump in like this but (i feel like a nubcake for asking this) what are the
dimensions for a regular sig and a reg. banner ?

Gerri Shin March 31st, 2008 1:19 AM

It really depends upon the artist making the banner to decide what their standard sizes are.
For me personally I think of the sizes 500x300, 500x150, 300x200, & 450x150px as standard.

Pikabloo March 31st, 2008 1:41 AM

Pretty much what Gerri said. Some people prefer larger banners, while on the other hand, others may like smaller ones. Sometimes, it also depends on the banner to be made, and the render/stock that is to be used, etc. For example, if you're stuck with using a small image, you're probably going to use it on a small banner.

THIRTY-SIX April 1st, 2008 1:13 AM

Smallest sig I've made was 385x75 largest was near 500x500 although some considered it a small large piece.
Anyway I was wondering are there any good burn and dodge tutorials? I'm ok at it… but tend to do a little too much… same with my pencil shading xD
