Traffic Jams~!

Oh! Hi there! Today we are going to talk about traffic jams. >_>
Irritating as they can be, headaches are what they cause for me.
^ Oooooh! Did that rhyme?

So there, I have a bunch of questions for you all!

1. Have you even been caught in the middle of a traffic jam?
2. Was there any specific cause of the traffic jam or are they really common, a part and parcel of your lives?
3. How annoying are traffic jams for you?
4. Has a traffic jam ever caused a delay in any important work of yours?

Not to mention that I was caught in a traffic jam myself today, and that kinda resulted in bad tempers. :O

1. Have you even been caught in the middle of a traffic jam?
Yes, too many times ;_;
2. Was there any specific cause of the traffic jam or are they really common, a part and parcel of your lives?
Usually car accidents, but sometimes just a normal thing.
3. How annoying are traffic jams for you?
On a scale of 1-10 I'd say a good 9.5
4. Has a traffic jam ever caused a delay in any important work of yours?
YES, many times.

1. Have you even been caught in the middle of a traffic jam?
Yup.
2. Was there any specific cause of the traffic jam or are they really common, a part and parcel of your lives?
It was on the m25 so they just happen around going home from work time.
3. How annoying are traffic jams for you?
It was ok as it was on a coach with friends.
4. Has a traffic jam ever caused a delay in any important work of yours?
Nah.

SIN1488 October 22nd, 2010 2:14 PM

Yes, it's bad when they slow things down, but it's even worse when they cause a Database Error. >_<

Considering the fact that I don't drive, they don't really bother me as I just listen to music and look around. It's nice around the LA area as you can see all the graffiti. :D

Well Sydney is known for its bad road design (the roads go randomly anywhere not in a grid pattern like every other smart city), so traffic jams are a common part of my life. It takes forever to get through the city or to the zoo which should take us 10-15 min once we are in the city but instead took us around 45 minutes. I dont work so it doesn't cause anything major for me other than I don't have enough time for GPX+ :P Of course in the suburbs there are car crashes like the other day where buses need to take enormous detours and cars are lined up everywhere. And there are smashes on the highway which can cause many hours of delay.

1. Have you even been caught in the middle of a traffic jam?
You know it. Multiple times.

2. Was there any specific cause of the traffic jam or are they really common, a part and parcel of your lives?
Usually road work, but once I got stuck behind a 4-car pile-up. 'Twas a postcard moment from Hell.

3. How annoying are traffic jams for you?
I won't yell at the jam itself, but I've been known to yell at people yelling and settle some business with the tire iron in my trunk.

4. Has a traffic jam ever caused a delay in any important work of yours?
Nah. It gives me a good chance to catch up on any books I'm reading.

1. Have you even been caught in the middle of a traffic jam?: Yes, a lot of times.
2. Was there any specific cause of the traffic jam or are they really common, a part and parcel of your lives?: They're pretty common, because a lot of people have to go to school/work early in the morning.
3. How annoying are traffic jams for you?: I find them very annoying when I realize that I'm about to run late.
4. Has a traffic jam ever caused a delay in any important work of yours?: No, not really.

1. Have you even been caught in the middle of a traffic jam?Yes, quite often.
2. Was there any specific cause of the traffic jam or are they really common, a part and parcel of your lives? They're very common around here, and the blame can be placed on old roads that can't handle the increased traffic as well as horrible traffic signals that remain red for WAY too long.
3. How annoying are traffic jams for you? Quite annoying, as I am known to be very impatient.
4. Has a traffic jam ever caused a delay in any important work of yours? Almost. There have been several occasions when a traffic jam while riding the bus has made me miss a connecting bus.

1. Have you even been caught in the middle of a traffic jam?
Yes

2. Was there any specific cause of the traffic jam or are they really common, a part and parcel of your lives?
Road construction

3. How annoying are traffic jams for you?
The one there was one for what seemed like 3 hours and we got no where. But I had my GBA on me so it was all good. I have dealt with a couple traffic jams on the way to school.

4. Has a traffic jam ever caused a delay in any important work of yours?
No, just caused me to be 20-30 minutes late to school.

1. Have you even been caught in the middle of a traffic jam?
Yup.
2. Was there any specific cause of the traffic jam or are they really common, a part and parcel of your lives?
Most of the time car accidents.
3. How annoying are traffic jams for you?
EXTREMELY.
4. Has a traffic jam ever caused a delay in any important work of yours?
No, but I've cut it close.

Lucy Lu October 23rd, 2010 7:12 PM

1. Have you even been caught in the middle of a traffic jam? No. I hardly go anywhere to deal with a traffic jam. I been lucky driving without any problems.

2. Was there any specific cause of the traffic jam or are they really common, a part and parcel of your lives? I know there were a few traffic jams, but I wasn't around to deal with them. I been hearing them on the news.

3. How annoying are traffic jams for you? They are super annoying. Especially if you really want to get to a place as soon as possible. But again I don't deal with too many traffic jams. I been lucky.

4. Has a traffic jam ever caused a delay in any important work of yours? Nope. I live across the street from my work so I don't have to deal driving on the freeway.

Yeah, many times, like when I'm going to a doctors appointment.

Zebeedoo October 24th, 2010 9:32 AM

Mmhm. I've been caught in a traffic jam many, many times.

The main cause of the traffic jams around here are in the early hours of the morning when everyone is rushing to go to school, and in the afternoons when schools are out. They're quite common around here, since there is a school 5 minutes away from my house, and another 15 minutes away at the other end of the street I live in.

Traffic jams don't really annoy me that much to be quite honest. Probably since I'm not the one driving the car and getting all flustered over it though. When I get a taxi to school everyday, the taxi drivers are always shouting and yapping telling the cars ahead to move (even though I'm sure the cars ahead can't exactly hear the taxi driver shouting o_ o) and beeping their horns and such. Really, beeping the horn or shouting isn't gonna help, it's just going to provoke some people.

Hmm, only once or twice have I actualy been late or delayed for school due to traffic jams, since I pretty much order a taxi 30 minutes before school starts so I can be toward the front of the traffic jam. o/

Yes, I have been in a traffic jam and the reason was because of a common festival in the town every summer (which is extremely popular for where I live as it's quite small) and there was many from the area and other places going to the small town centre, I happened to be going with my family and a friend who lives thirty minutes away from me. It was an expected traffic jam though. There have been plenty more but I'm going for more recent traffic jams in my time when they have happened. But, none of these traffic jams have caused me to be late to anything as I have left early to get there on time just in case I needed to do something when I arrived at my destination beforehand and didn't want to rush it.

Traffic jams aren't that bad if you've got something there to entertain you, especially if you have your music player or even just watching the public go by and if you're with someone, just have some fun with them! I've never found them annoying as they don't happen often for me, so really I just find other methods to entertain myself as I wait for whatever is causing the disruption or the queue of cars to settle and we will be away again. Really, I don't see anything to fuss over even if I was going to be late and it was important, I'd tell the person who I was to meet what had happened and why I was late and I'm sure it could be settled quickly.

It helps that most of the time I walk to places, though so I don't often get suck in that type of situation. And my family don't have a car so we take buses, so really we walk so we don't have to pay the money for the bus hence the walking. I think I have been in three traffic jams and there was big events going on each time so really, I just have to wait for an event to come and I will be stuck in the traffic waiting for the bus to be able to move forward or walking by it all.

I've been in several small traffic jams, all due to construction, but most didn't last long. Annoying, sure, but we're always out of the way soon enough, and never bad enough to delay us. There's one that sticks out in my head, though...

It was a few years back, when I was living in Germany. My stepdad decided to take an alternate route, I think to avoid construction. Well, the route we took also had construction, and thus, a traffic jam. It was kind of boring, sitting in the car, wondering when the hell we'd finally move at a decent pace. And then, all of a sudden, it starts snowing. This... was the middle of summer, iirc. o_O It only lasts for a few minutes and nothing stuck at all. To this day, I'm still boggled by it. Strange weather.

1. Have you even been caught in the middle of a traffic jam?
Indubitably. In all manner of places one can experience in America, including parking lots, expressways, country roads, downtown areas, and sporting events.

2. Was there any specific cause of the traffic jam or are they really common, a part and parcel of your lives?
There've been all sorts of causes for the traffic jams I've been, as a driver or otherwise. Many of them were just purely traffic related and caused by everyday traffic, but others have been caused by utility work, road construction, and traffic generated by a major event. Oh, and let's not forget the jams caused by snowstorms and other harsh weather. I don't really consider waiting at a major stoplight to be much of a jam unless the back up stretches for more than half a mile, which has happened to me before. ^_~

3. How annoying are traffic jams for you?
They're not very annoying, because I know full well there's not much I can do about the other people except figure out a quicker route to my destination or leave a little earlier.

4. Has a traffic jam ever caused a delay in any important work of yours?
Well, I was an hour and a half late to school last January because of a morning snowstorm, but that was to be expected. Other than that, I can't think of anything, because I always try to allow for heavy traffic when I plan on going places. ^-^;;

I really hate traffic jams. I am a pretty impatient and anxious person, so sitting around in a car for only god knows how long has a big impact on me. Fortunately, I have never missed out on an opportunity because of it.

Stratos99 November 13th, 2010 2:19 PM

I don't drive myself but the last traffic jam I got stuck in was wonderful. It was a cold winter night, on the way back from a wal mart considerably far from my house. The roads were really really ice covered so of course there was an accident. Luckily we had just gotten a new jeep with dvd players in the back, and I personally love car rides so it wasn't bad at all. We had heating so I wasn't cold or anything and I had brought my itouch along with me which has emulators on it so I ended up laying down in the backseat playing pokemon crystal all warm and cozy. My brother usually is antsy as heck when we're in the car but the aforementioned dvd players kept him busy. So yeah just an overall enjoyable experience on that cold winters night, on that long long road.

Well today, our school bus came late, and we were caught in quite a traffic. And I had some really important things to do at home. Not the best feeling. At all.

1. Have you even been caught in the middle of a traffic jam?

Of course.

2. Was there any specific cause of the traffic jam or are they really common, a part and parcel of your lives?

Well, it's quite a common thing if I take a bus. Busy hours and busy people are the common roots.

3. How annoying are traffic jams for you?

It depends on the situation and my mood.

4. Has a traffic jam ever caused a delay in any important work of yours?

Yes. Like Today. >:| I had a whole schedule up for working on my assignments.

Ho-Oh November 14th, 2010 7:55 AM

We've never been in a traffic jam as a far as I can remember. The traffic has gone slowly, but jam? Nope, luckily. XD

Yes. MANY times.

2. Was there any specific cause of the traffic jam or are they really common, a part and parcel of your lives?
Well, both. I live 20 km away from my school, so I get in traffic jams every morning. And if it's a crash, in the evening as well. They usually affect my schedule. >_<

3. How annoying are traffic jams for you?
Very.

4. Has a traffic jam ever caused a delay in any important work of yours?
MANY MANY times.

So yeah, I hate traffic jams.
