The vending machines in B/W kinda remind me of the RiderVendors from Kamen Rider OOO except that the RideVendors transform into bikes. :p
Plus, how many times can you say that you've bought lemonade IN THE DESERT!

Palkia November 12th, 2010 8:10 AM

Preety interesting, although it would be interesting to see them remplace Pokemarts. Also, replacing the potions with the drink (lemonade, etc.) would be ideal for the 3rd game.

PlatinumDude November 12th, 2010 3:40 PM

I never knew that vending machines were widespread. It's actually convenient if one of your Pokemon is about to die/faint, but it would suck if you're about to run out of money.

which really shouldn't happen. I honestly had about 250 000 at the end of the game, after buying like 30 Revival Herbs for the Elite Four.

The vending machines are great. You tend to use them less towards the end of the game (as 80/200 HP isn't really that epic anymore) and I'd rather just buy like 200 Moomoo Milk before leaving, but they're useful as early-game.

Zelda November 12th, 2010 8:36 PM

I actually like this idea not only because it allows you to make a quick buy for your Pokémon's HP every town/city you reach, but also because it helps prove a point for Isshu being based off of New York. New York tends to have a lot of vending machines around the cities, so this has it all make sense. This and the fact that in the previous games the vending machines were usually only reachable on the top of the huge mall in each game, so this makes it a reasonable change. I like this purpose, and I'm sure GameFreak thought about doing this mainly to have it show off more of the New York style.

Kevin November 13th, 2010 6:49 AM

What the... There's vending machines now? xDD This is definitely New York now. What's in them? Is it like a quick PokeMart resource where you can by Potions, Medicine, etc.? It sounds like an easy and quick way to buy items. :3

I would love it if they'd put moomoo milk in vending machines!

Haza November 14th, 2010 2:18 PM

Wow I like this feature... pretty realistic and it reminds me of the Destiny Deoxys movie!

We had Vending machines in past gens too but they were restricted to the Major Deparment stores and sometimes appeared in other locations like the Pokethlon. Actually I'm amazed that the past four regions don't have that many vending machines, seeing as they were based on Japan and Japan has vending machines that sell everything from cigars to toilet paper...(at least that's what I heard)

Ooh boy. Yep, we've had vending machines since Gen I... They only sold some HP recovering drinks (Fresh Water, Lemonade, etc) but I really loved them... Dunno, I just like thinking that my Pokemon are drinking tasty stuff to recover HP instead of... some kind of spray drug. :P

Maybe in the third game you can fight wild Rotom appliances. Try to "steal" from the vending machine to fight a Rotom-Fridge. Like the infamous Kecleon of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series.

That would be a nice idea :)
I like it that the bending machines are around almost "every corner" in the cities :)

PsychoJigglypuff November 14th, 2010 7:05 PM

I like the vending machines, because you don't have to go all the way to "such and such city" just to get them. Because I always try to stock up on Lemonades, except when my Pokemon have hundreds of HP.

Rettan November 15th, 2010 10:25 AM

I find it awesome and convenient, and obviously more realistic,
it also enforces the me that Isshu is based on New York...

In the United States... theres vending machines everywhere xD

Bela November 15th, 2010 11:33 AM

As we all know, the United States/New York is the only place in the world that has vending machines. Thus, this demonstration of a highly modernized society in a Pokemon game is clearly only capable of being based on that one area--as again, that's the only place in the entire world where vending machines are in widespread use, right?

Rettan November 15th, 2010 12:18 PM

Theres vending machnes everywhere not just in New York, but there is more in New York that other places (at least from what ive seen) so it fits Isshu

Pretty sure s/he was being sarcastic.

Is there anything in the vending machines besides the normal HP recovery items? I probably won't use them at all, to be honest, unless they had other items in them

Mew~ November 20th, 2010 2:03 PM

Honestly I didnt know anyone really used them
I guess it does help, and you do usually see a vending machine here and there around the city in the real world so it's an ordinary feature.

Azumi November 20th, 2010 2:55 PM

Huh, and I thought only vending machines in Japan breed like rabbits.

Yeah mainly Soda and water vending machines. Some snack, but most I've seen were in public buildings and schools. Now variety of vending machines (like in Japan) aren't found here (from what I've seen anyways). And we already have vending machines for drinks in pokemon, so in a way pokemon games already have a dash of NY/Americanism in them. :surprised:

Prometheus November 22nd, 2010 9:09 AM

I think thats brilliant. Seems convininet.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire November 22nd, 2010 9:44 AM

I wish we could get deals off of the Vending machines like buy two get one free...

Austy November 24th, 2010 10:34 PM

Oh? Extra vending machines? Exciting! Adds a sense of realism to it, IMO. Cos I mean, vending machines are pretty much everywhere in the real world... But it seems fairly convenient to just pop a lemonade wherever you are. But I don't think it could ever fully replace a PokeMart... but more diverse vending machines (like pokeball ones!) would be really cool.

LMFAO, XD! Yes.

BHwolfgang November 24th, 2010 11:21 PM

Once I get past the 4th or 5th gym leader, I begin to stop using vending machines. It sounds convenient but would anybody really use it throughout their adventure, especially when they need multiple lemonades for just one Pokemon?

However, if the vending machine were to... supply moo moo milk, then things would be a lot different.
