Choose-Your Own Adventure! (Johto Branch)

Same rules as the original apply.

Story: Its been 7 years since the original adventures of Ethan, and Lyra. As a new trainer in new bark town, you choose your Pokemon from the lab and begin your journey through Johto.

New Rivals: This adventure will feature 2 new rivals, http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/CKmaster/RIVAL.png?t=1289714674 Gordon and Kass.
They will use Pokemon according to your choice of starter.

Johto League-In the years that have passed, the league has changed around a bit. Chuck has gone to train in Saffron, Pryce has retired, and Clair has gone off elsewhere, leaving blackthorn without a leader but a new gym has emerged in cherrygrove.
The Elite Four has changed as well, growing stronger than before.
http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/CKmaster/jOHTOLEAGUE.png?t=1289714785

Villain-Team Rocket has long since gone but some disturbances have been reported of a group of tomb raiders claiming to be called Team Rune.

So, to begin the adventure....

You wake up, full of energy and walk downstairs to eat a hearty breakfast. After you gobble it down you rush out the door and go to Elm's lab. There, he offers you a special rare Pokemon.
Which one will you choose?

LET THE JOHTO ADVENTURE-BEGIN!

Christopher November 13th, 2010 10:18 PM

looks interesting new leaders eh?
anyway I vote for Cyndaquil

Meduza November 13th, 2010 10:29 PM

The option I'm making isn't just because I like Grass Types, I also want a challenge in this game, so I choose Chikorita

AuraPaladin November 13th, 2010 10:43 PM

Cyndaquil. Mainly because Chikorita is too derpish, and there's better water-types out there.

Meduza November 13th, 2010 11:41 PM

Derpish?

At least Chikorita has actual eyes >_>

dragonite149 November 13th, 2010 11:55 PM

There are better Grass Types out there if you want offense *Points to Victribell* and in my eyes, Seaking is a good Water Type. However, I like using Flareon or Growlithe as a Fire Type.

Imma say choose Totodile!

alisaie November 14th, 2010 12:33 AM

Look like the poster after me will make the final decision, as I also choose Totodile~

Mistress Rose November 14th, 2010 1:44 AM

Cyndaquil is what I choose lol.

GrifSpark November 14th, 2010 6:56 AM

So many different votes! Lemme just make sure I've got this right.

Chikorita - 2
Cyndaquil - 3
Totodile - 2

Ah darn it, I much prefer Totodile. I'll vote for that one, but if we're going for the same "3-vote" system of the Hoenn and the Kanto versions, then my opinion doesn't matter...

Helvetica November 14th, 2010 7:34 AM

Definetly Clair in the E4, but if I choose, I choose....

Totodile.

champagnepapi November 14th, 2010 7:55 AM

Alright then, Totodile it is!
http://www.pokesplash.net/pokedex-hgss/sprite.php?natid=158
Next Poster gets to nickname him!

Ynfiniti8 November 14th, 2010 11:03 AM

Oh really? Epic! In that case I chcoose Cyndaquil =)

GrifSpark November 14th, 2010 11:12 AM

I'm being drawn to nicknaming it 'Jericho'. Only due to the fact it was the name of the Aerodactyl Pokemorph I once played in an RPG, and they are both vaguely dragon-like.

champagnepapi November 14th, 2010 11:19 AM

@ynfiniti8 sorry I miscounted @[email protected] no cyndaquil
--------------------------------
http://www.pokesplash.net/pokedex-hgss/sprite.php?natid=158 You take Jericho and go forth to cherrygrove, with 3 Potions to make the journey!

As you step out of the lab you see your neighbor, Kass. http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/CKmaster/kass.png?t=1289762062

She asks you to partake in a practice battle against her Chikorita http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb187/Minirizzle/Chikorita.png (5 Tackle, Growl).

Jericho knows Scratch and Leer and is also at level 5.

Inventory:
Potion X 3

-------------------------
So, which attack will you choose, Scratch, or Leer?

GrifSpark November 14th, 2010 11:28 AM

"Woohoo, I winz teh name!"

Anywho, back to the battle. If we use Leer, Chikorita could easily counter it by using Growl on Jericho. So I recommend using Scratch for now. Should it become appropriate, then we should use Leer, but not yet.

560cool. November 14th, 2010 11:38 AM

I'm in too, Karpman !
I say spam Scratch until he dies, eh ?

Helvetica November 14th, 2010 11:50 AM

Scratch! Scratch it now! For victory!

champagnepapi November 14th, 2010 12:03 PM

Trainer: Scratch, Jericho!
Jericho: Toto, toto! (Slashes Chikorita with its claws)
http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb187/Minirizzle/Chikorita.png
15/19 HP

Kass: Chika, Use Tackle!
(Chikorita rams into Jericho)

18/21 HP

What do you want to do next?
Use SCRATCH
Use LEER
Use a POTION

Potion (3)

Ynfiniti8 November 14th, 2010 12:25 PM

Ah well... anyway! Just use Scratch again.

GrifSpark November 14th, 2010 12:33 PM

Stir and drink, stir and drink, never let it settle!

Ok, scrap that. Scratch and dodge, scratch and dodge, never let it fight back!

Arma November 14th, 2010 1:14 PM

Use Scratch, of course, Leer's such an useless move

champagnepapi November 14th, 2010 1:21 PM

Trainer: Jericho, scratch attack!
(Jericho scratches Chikorita again)
http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb187/Minirizzle/Chikorita.png
11/21
Kass: Chika, use Growl
(Chikorita lets out a proud cry, lowering Jericho's attack)

Meduza November 14th, 2010 1:32 PM

Use Scratch!

-Whispers to Chikorita- No offense :(

Helvetica November 14th, 2010 2:03 PM

Scratch! Use it again! Now!

Christopher November 14th, 2010 4:08 PM

so 4 votes win in this one?
well Scratch

champagnepapi November 14th, 2010 5:38 PM

(Jericho runs up and scratches Chikorita, doing a good amount of damage)
http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb187/Minirizzle/Chikorita.png
7/21

Kass: Chika, use tackle
(Chikorita's attack does an average amount of damage)
http://www.pokesplash.net/pokedex-hgss/sprite.php?natid=158
16/21

Totodile shakes it off and scratches Chikorita again, its a critical hit, and Chikorita faints.
>_> (decided I might as well end this battle since its a scratch tackle scratch fest)

Totodile is now Level 6! Learned Water Gun!

Kass: Wow, you're quite the trainer! Here's 3 Pokeballs, maybe you can use them?

---------------------------------------------
As you walk out into Route 29, you see three wild pokemon.

(Lv. 3)
Foresight
Scratch

If you throw a poke ball the other two will probably get scared and run away.
So, which one do you want to catch?
Rattata, Pidgey or Sentret?

Bag:
Potion-3
Poke Ball-3

Thorns November 15th, 2010 7:57 AM

I'm going to have to say Pidgey for the following reason.

- It can learn Fly, which will be helpful later.
- Will help us with the Second Gym in Azalea town and the Fifth Gym in Cianwood City.
- It's final form, Pidgeot, is way stronger than the other two.
- This may not occur during the story, but through tutoring, Pidgeot can learn Heat Wave (Fire), Ominous Wind (Ghost), and Twister (Dragon)

Ynfiniti8 November 15th, 2010 8:39 AM

Yeah, definately get Pidgey.

GrifSpark November 15th, 2010 8:59 AM

Pidgey by far. I haven't used the thing since the original Silver, and I really should catch one in SS. It's a good Pokemon, and can learn MirrorMove. Primarily useless unless you're against a Dragon or Ghost type, but it's still comical.

Helvetica November 15th, 2010 11:03 AM

Pidgey. Ignore the other options.

champagnepapi November 15th, 2010 12:21 PM

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/16.png
Pidgey was sucsessfully caught!
Next Poster gets to name it!

After catching pidgey you decide you should train one of your Pokemon 2 levels.
Which one do you want to train?

Train TOTODILE?
Train PIDGEY?

Party:

Diablerie November 15th, 2010 12:50 PM

Uh, ok, let's go with 'Wings'.

I really just came here to check out all the CYOAs that sprang up overnight, but this one looks pretty good. Diablerie approves. :)
-_- As long as it doesn’t run mine out of business. -_-

heh I was the first to make one after Johto but that kind of opened up some leeway for the other five ._.
and thanks, I planned it out to be unique.

Meduza November 15th, 2010 3:10 PM

Let's train Totodile to start off with since the first gym will be a Flying Gym and Wings won't be much help with the same types there.

AuraPaladin November 16th, 2010 4:02 AM

Hmm...it does depend on the game...

If this is based off G/S, then I'd suggest Wings. If it was based off HG/SS, I'd say Jericho.

HOWEVER

Seeing as sentret can't learn Foresight in G/S (not to mention how crippling that would be to movesets), I'm guessing that this is based off HG/SS, and therefore we should Train Jericho.

Ynfiniti8 November 16th, 2010 11:03 AM

Jericho shall be trained.

GrifSpark November 17th, 2010 11:01 AM

Hmm...

Well, wings is at a comparitavely low level, and it would be useful to keep the Pokemon at a balanced level. Let's train Wings!

champagnepapi November 17th, 2010 12:14 PM

Okay!
http://www.pokesplash.net/pokedex-hgss/sprite.php?natid=158After some training, Jericho leveled up to Lv. 8 and learned Rage!
As you stroll down route 30, youngster Joey approaches you.

Joey: Hey guess what, my rattata, its in the top percentage of all rattata, like stronger than all the other rattata! Let's have a battle now, kid!
Trainer: Alright, let's just get this over with.

(Joey Sends out his top percentage Rattata)

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/19.png
Lv. 4 19/19

You send out Jericho
http://www.pokesplash.net/pokedex-hgss/sprite.php?natid=158
Lv. 8 26/26

What will you do?
Use SCRATCH
Use LEER
Use WATER GUN
Use RAGE
Switch to Wings

Water gun. ...Nuff' said.

Meduza November 17th, 2010 3:58 PM

Water Gun, ENOUGH said. I hate those paraphrases <_<

brodioh November 25th, 2010 12:28 AM

Water Gun to make a decision

champagnepapi November 25th, 2010 5:09 PM

Joey's Rattata beats you to the punch and uses quick attack!

22/26
Jericho then uses water gun and blasts Joey's Rattata

Meduza November 25th, 2010 5:22 PM

Let's use Water Gun.

We get STAB and it's more powerful than Tackle.

brodioh November 25th, 2010 9:15 PM

Get Jericho to us water gun again.

Ynfiniti8 November 25th, 2010 11:46 PM

Water gun. STAB, most powerful attack etc etc.

Dark: Random Guy November 29th, 2010 7:50 AM

Switch to Wings so it can deal the finishing blow. Wings needs the exp and at the point they're at i doubt ratatta can kill it in one hit unless it's still weakened which Wings wasn't before it was caught.

slls81 November 30th, 2010 9:50 AM

I'll say Water Gun, just to make a decision :P
