Fame! with a price.

Someone walks up to you on the streets and makes you a tempting purposal. He offers you a chance for fame and to have your name in lights and your own fanbase. But there's a price. You'll go back half your life (if you're 24, you'll be 12) and lose the past half of your life in the process. He says you'll have a week to think it over and to meet him back at the exact spot the two of you are standing.

The week's up and you meet him at the park you met him in a week ago.
He's standing there with something in his hand and he asks with curiosity "Have you made your decision?"

Rogue planet November 21st, 2010 3:11 PM

If it's some stranger on the street then he's probably lying or hiding a secret catch. I wouldn't accept because he's probably some sort of pedophile.

Putting that aside though, will I lose all my memories and personality if I accept the offer? If I could keep my memories and current personality then I would accept the offer. If I totally reverted to how I was when I was 8 years old in every way, then I would decline.

Agent Clank November 21st, 2010 3:12 PM

Heck. No.
First of all, I don't want to be famous because all people do is follow you around with cameras and junk like that.
Second of all, I wouldn't like to erase all of those great years of my life.

Nick November 21st, 2010 3:13 PM

You'd keep all of your memories and all, but others won't have any memory of you. For example, if you made a best friend at the age of 17 and you're 24, you'll remember him/her, but they won't remember you.

Eucliffe November 21st, 2010 3:17 PM

Honestly, even if there weren't a catch, I wouldn't take him up on the offer. Fame usually leads to rumors and paparazzi and whatnot, not to mention I don't like the idea of being so well-known. If anything, I think I'll just stay "somebody else". And if I do want fame, I'll work for it.

Kenshin5 November 21st, 2010 3:20 PM

I wouldn't want to be famous even if the draw backs you mentioned weren't in place. Generally famous people have lesser privacy which comes with the fame and I wouldn't want that. They have extensive schedules to keep up with and what not. That is just not for me I would much rather be super rich and none famous.

Rogue planet November 21st, 2010 3:20 PM

Then I'd take the offer. If I retain my current personality then I could probably manage to befriend the same people anyway, seeing as it's already been proven our personalities are compatible 'n' all, as well as me already knowing what they are like so being able to say the right things etc. If I couldn't manage to do that, then it raises the question of how compatible were we in the first place? Plus I could erase all the bad things I've done and start over.

I'd probably take up on the offer even if there wasn't a promise of fame and fortune. That's just an added bonus for me.

Ayselipera November 21st, 2010 3:38 PM

Since I'll be able to retain my memories up to this point I would say yes. The way I figure it is I'll be famous for a few years, collect my money, and then leave the spotlight. After high school I don't see myself talking to my friends that much anymore so having them not remember me wouldn't be that big of a deal. I'd end up making new friends anyways.

Captain Fabio November 21st, 2010 4:17 PM

Simple, no.

I can't really explain my decision why, but I just don't want it. I want to stay as I am and keep my friends and family.

Phantasmagoria November 21st, 2010 4:52 PM

I wouldn't take it. While sometimes I do wish I could back in time, I'd rather not become famous. I'd rather stay how old I am, and simply live the peaceful life that I currently live, and hope to continue living.

Corvus of the Black Night November 21st, 2010 4:56 PM

This is my response:

**** I HAVE TO GO THROUGH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL ALL OVER AGAIN?!

Captain Hobo. November 21st, 2010 6:37 PM

No, I would not want to lose half of my life.

Eliminator Jr. November 21st, 2010 7:06 PM

I really don't know. I started typing a response that I wouldn't do it, but then I took it back. As in if the fame wasn't there I might do it, if I was to become famous I'd rather do it through hard work. I really don't know. I wouldn't enjoy having to go through school again.

PlatinumDude November 21st, 2010 7:41 PM

I don't really care about fame, so I'd just refuse the offer and continue my life as a 16 year old.

EmeraldSerenade November 21st, 2010 7:43 PM

I wouldn't accept..
My past has made me into the person I am today. Fame means absolutely nothing to me anyways.

everyone hates 8 year old idols anyays

femtrooper November 21st, 2010 7:48 PM

God no! That would be awful! That means I'd be 10 1/2 years old! GROSS! You'd be a ten year-old that knows he/she's actually older.

There are so many wrongs about this I can't go into it. No, no, no.

Timbjerr November 21st, 2010 8:23 PM

To me, rewinding to the current halfway point in my life is much more tempting than having fame, so the question might as well be worded backwards. XD

I might accept so long as I retain my current knowledge and memories when I revert to being 11. Fame is relatively easy to shake off so long as you lay low and I had a lot of family problems during my teenage years that could be easily remedied the second time around with the proposed sizable stack of money. :P

professor plum November 21st, 2010 8:48 PM

I would most certainly do it. I would kill to be a star. To be honest, it's what I wish I had done as a child, so, yeah. I would most certainly do it. ^-^;

Kura November 21st, 2010 9:02 PM

I wouldn't want it. The difference between being 10 and being 21 is pretty vast. I've learned way too much and I have experienced, loved, and been through too much to give it up for a couple bucks and some fanboys.
I wouldn't trade my accomplishments and the relationships I have for anything. Also, what's the point in having memories if you don't have people to think back on them with?

Melody November 21st, 2010 10:00 PM

I can't say the last 11 years of my life has been a walk in the park...but Fame and Fortune is not payment enough for that. It'd take far more than just Fame to necessitate that exchange.

I don't make deals with devils. :<

King Gumball November 21st, 2010 11:10 PM

I wouldn't. If my memories and were erased then maybe, as there wold be no sense of Dejavu. However with memories remaining, I think all the dejavu would be too much of me, even reliving years of my life in a different way.

Alice November 21st, 2010 11:25 PM

Honestly, that isn't really a big deal... Especially if you still remember everything that happened in those lost years, because you get to live them a second time. It's extending your life, and giving you an opportunity to make better decisions during those years. Of course, your life will be drastically different, because you'll be famous.

I'm thinking I might say no though... I don't think I would want to be famous to begin with.

I thought about this... whether it would be better to remember, or not remember everything you're losing... in the end, I think it would be better to remember though.

It would be a lot harder on me, but I wouldn't want to waste 9 years of effort I've put into these years. Plus, it'll make school easier, because I remember some of it. lol

I think it would be better to forget everything, and not know that you have lost anything, as remembering would be way too emotionally painful and mentally tough to cope with, depending how many years you need to relive, or how good your earlier life was.

Cold Fusion November 22nd, 2010 5:46 AM

I've already cut out the consequences and thought no, and the consequences aren't going to make it any different. I wouldn't want to be famous in the first place, that involves all the paparazzi and such but also, I'd rather have worked hard to get to that place. No way would I cheat the system to get to that stage. But also taking my life away, I wouldn't do that either even if it was bad life because what you do in life makes you the person you are now in the present time and future events will make it happen too.

KanadeTenshi November 22nd, 2010 6:04 AM

No.. I'd rather be my quiet self than having fanboys/girls and paparazzi all around me. I like a quiet life.

Still... I'll brutally murder the guy and take his device. Then I'll disintegrate it for the fun of it.
