How would you cope?
You lost all of your money. You have no way of getting it back. You're now at the bottom of everything. Hypothetically speaking, just a few weeks ago you were one of the wealthiest people on the planet with a business empire and billions of employees under your wing. Now you have nothing, and the connections you had when you had everything are all gone. You have no way of communicating with anyone other than in person. How do you tackle life by the horns and get back up after going from the top to the bottom so quickly? What are the steps that you'll take to at least make a decent living in a one bedroom apartment?
You have no one to help you - family and friends have not contacted you in years. You're alone. |
I'd take advantage of the benefits system and make the government pay all my bills for me.
Then I'd start again in the same business I had before. If I managed to build a business empire then I assume I'd be pretty good in the field. I started at the bottom once before, so I'd do it again. Even if I stayed at the bottom then it still gives me something to survive on, and it's my only option unless I want to go back to college and get a qualification in washing farm animals or something. |
Well I'm at the end of my school "career" so I guess I'd take out a student loan, get a degree, and after I graduate in April, apply for a job in my chosen career path.. and start paying back my school debt and working on having a living for myself. I could also do art commissions after work to earn a bit of extra cash.. or work part time on weekends to help myself out.
:/ Also would make sure I watch my spending on food while still being healthy (don't eat out), I'd probably not have a TV.. but.. I'd basically WORK. I wouldn't want to waste my time- time is pretty precious. People forget that a lot of us if we were 3rd generation immigrants to a country.. that our grandparents basically game to North America with absolutely nothing. There was NO welfare system back then. I personally would never like to be on welfare. I rather work my butt off and get myself out of a tough situation. I can understand when it helps people with disabilities or who are in bad situation.. but a lot of it also goes to people who are lazy. |
Well, good question.
Depends where I am living, as in which city or location I am. I would take advantage of hostels to stay at. I would get my thinking hat on and look at what section of my business I was in. I would have knowledge of that area and jump right back into it. If I was wealthy in that area, then I know about the area well enough to get up and running again. I would have to get bank loans for the time being to get it kick started again, but unless the company went bankrupt, I would just set it up again. |
It all depends on where I live. I'd look for jobs, and work hard in them. If a charity comes, I'd take advantage of those to help me get back on my feet.
|
Unless I physically experience this situation, I'm not sure how I'd react to it. I'd try to start at the bottom and eventually, somehow work my way back up.
|
Probably try to get the government to assist me as I claw my way back to the top of the business world, using the business skills that I hopefully didn't lose in the fallout. Hopefully in a few years I'll be back in middle management where I can start to rebuild my lifestyle as it was pre-losing everything.
I might have to skip certain meals and use public transportation for awhile at first, and somehow keep this ancient laptop running for a few more years... BTW, I'm kinda in the same situation IRL, as I'm about to graduate from college with no job lined up afterward. |
Well, if I was just the head of my own billion dollar corporation, I obviously have skill to some degree. I might not be able to get back up that high, but I would certainly begin the climb again. I would climb as high as I could and then make my stand there. Idle hand are the devil's workshops, as long as I keep busy, I won't feel bad.
Or at least, that is what I would like to believe I would do. In reality, I would probably just mope about the streets forcing people to cast their pity unto me. |
