Differences.

There are a lot of people in this world who are scared of people and things that are different than how they were raised, and tend to shun such things from their life and disassociate with anything of the like. There are other people in the world who love things that are different and are attracted to people who shine with abnormality quirks.

Which type of person are you? Do you like things, for the most part, the same and comfortable, or do you like to have a colorful array of people in your life?

Note: Differences in humans, in this thread, deals more with weirdness and eccentricity.

I love to have people who are different in my life. I have a vast majority of friends from different cultures and sexuality online AND offline. I also have very young and old friends.. friend that range from 12 to over 50 years of age and I feel I get along with everyone.
I have a lot of really eccentric asian friends, some love anime, some hate it, some love cooking, some love fashion. I have a bunch of indian friends; some who love traditional things, others that love sports. I guess I'm pretty comfortable around a whide array of people. Heck, yes I have friends who admit to being in gangs/ were in gangs, and some of my friends do hard drugs like ecstasy.. but just because they do it doesn't mean they're bad friends. They respect that I don't want to be involved with that stuff, and that's what makes them a good friend.

:/ My dad's a bit old fashioned and always wanted me to date an Italian guy.. but I guess you love who you love. I ended up falling in love with an American guy.. someone who's half British, half German on one side of his family and probably a whole slew of other stuff, too. But we're also on the same level when it comes to wants and needs for our relationship.

So yeah, I like things to be mixed up and different YET I want that sense of honesty, trust, and respect to be the same throughout all my friends.. because without those three I personally find it very hard to hold a friendship.

I definitely prefer diversity. Just as long as it's a good kind of diversity! When I say that, I mean bad kinds of diversity such as a desire to torture animals and other similar nasty things.

Anything else that's different is just far more interesting than plainness. I like people that have funny quirks, strange obsessions and when I converse with someone it's far more interesting if we have unusual conversations. I don't want to have the regular "hi, how r u? wuu2? lol nm" conversation. I want to have a crazy discussion about something I've never heard of before, or learn about someone's differences.

Being the same as loads of other people is incredibly boring.

Diversity for me is the best thing to have in a friendship. I do have groups of friends who are alike, but I talk to many groups who are all different from each other in big ways and I enjoy that more then just sticking to the same few people. I love talking about anything really and if you constantly hang around with the same kinds of people you'll find that you talk about the same kinds of things over and over. By talking and ultimately then making friends with people who aren't at all like my other friends brings about new conversation and thoughts.

I especially love the kinds of people who will just bring up a topic most others won't even think of or want to talk about. It just opens up a whole new realm of interesting conversation that you might not of been able to have with anyone else.

I guess the point is always hanging around with the same people ends up turning into a monotonous task for me. I like the fact that I know many different people and I enjoy each person for different reasons.

I love to have a different array of people in my life. If I like the person, then I will be friends with them.

What everyone else said, I prefer diversity, since being surrounded by people who are just like you would be boring.

I like to surround myself with people of varying backgrounds and interests, as I can learn more about their particular lifestyles and backgrounds and get to hear things from a different perspective than my own.

I like being around people that are different from myself. It helps to see different perspectives on things, and I usually learn a lot from people that are way different from me. Plus, I like being exposed to new things, which I might never be if I only hung around people similar to me. That being said, I'm also perfectly happy around those similar to me (though... not too similar, can't have that now..). It's the combination of the two that's really the best, for me.

I enjoy diversity. If the people I spend time with were all identical clones, I think I'd eventually get tired of them..

If everyone was the same, our would would be so plain and dull..

I have trouble leaving my comfort zone, and I hate change.

With that said, I'm also very accepting of other types of people.

The Corrupt Plague November 22nd, 2010 11:14 PM

I tend to embrace differences among people because to me, the world would be very boring if everyone looked and acted the same way.

Aquacorde November 23rd, 2010 12:31 AM

I like diversity, which is a good thing because I live in a place with a lot of it. :3 I like to study and analyze people, so it gives me a whole bunch of varying subject matter.
