Choose Your Own Adventure - Nuzlocke Style

I've seen threads like this everywhere, and to be honest, I always wanted to make one, so here it is! Choose Your Own Adventure - Nuzlocke Style! Don't forget, everything happens for a reason!

How it works (if you don't know)
I tell a part of the story. Then, I give the player a few options. You will post what you think the player should do. Then, the story will continue, and the player will do what the majority said he should do.

How the Nuzlocke Challenge works:
If a Pokémon faints, it's dead.
You can only catch the first Pokémon you meet on a route. If you kill it, too bad.
All Pokémon need nicknames.

What makes this thread interesting:
A storyline from a different point of view.
Added drama because Pokémon can talk and are bros.
Irony, sarcasm, wrong and random stuff.

Now that that's out of the way, here's the story.

You wake up in a dark room. So dark, actually, you can't see anything. You feel around your body. No curves, so that must mean you're a boy. You remember your name: Luke. But you don't remember anything else... You think hard and something pops up in your mind. You remember where you are.

You are in:
1) Kanto
2) Johto
3) Hoenn
4) Sinnoh

Ynfiniti8 November 28th, 2010 6:33 AM

OK seriously? It was fun at first but now it's just getting repetetive. It's getting out of hand. I mean come on, Nuzlocke? *Sigh*

Dark: Random Guy November 28th, 2010 7:40 AM

Agreed. What is the point of this?

If you want to do a nuzlocke challenge then do it on your actual pokemon game. Nuzlocke on here would be colossal amounts of boring repetition.

tkallab November 28th, 2010 8:48 AM

Ummm, thanks? Illegal to have some fun here? Geez, I'm just bored. If you're not interested, just leave this thread alone and it'll die, and I'll get the message. I'll just wait and see if there's anyone interested, and if not, bad luck for me. It's as simple as that.

Dark: Random Guy November 28th, 2010 8:54 AM

i'm just saying it doesn't work well like this.

jeez. no need to be so defensive.

tkallab November 28th, 2010 9:22 AM

When someone says something I don't really agree with, I at least get to tell him my opinion, right?

My idea was to not just add those Nuzlocke rules, I was gonna make the story interesting. Like the Nuzlocke comics. Warping the storyline, making the Pokémon able to speak and all... So for me, this is not an alternative to doing a Nuzlocke run, but making a Nuzlocke fan comic, which I am also doing, by the way.

Just don't judge this before it's started, okay?

Dark: Random Guy November 28th, 2010 9:39 AM

and if you'd said that in the first place people wouldn't have seen it as such a repetitive concept and this debate wouldn't even be happening.

regardless, you have to admit that response did come across as a bit of an overeaction. Also, i never said you couldn't tell your own opinion on the matter. You just went and assumed that i was so just calm down and we'll get started on this Nuzlocke thing then.

Hoenn.

tkallab November 28th, 2010 10:03 AM

Just so you know, I wasn't mad or defensive, but I understand I may mave been percieved as overreacting.
I'll just make a small paragraph in the first post about how this is different from other threads like this.

Thanks for voting. ;)

#Emochu November 28th, 2010 10:14 AM

Uh so we have to vote a region?

I choose hoenn, since i'm doing a ruby nuzlocke challenge.

Helvetica November 28th, 2010 10:42 AM

I call that we do Kanto.

Stupid character limits.

Ynfiniti8 November 28th, 2010 12:53 PM

Sorry 'bout that earlier, was in a bad mood anyway. Might as well vote. Sinnoh.

tkallab November 28th, 2010 12:56 PM

Ey, it's alright. I kind of understand it, I was already kind of hesitating to make this thread because there were already so many.

I'll take five votes before continuing, unless it becomes a tie. The next vote can make the difference between definitely Hoenn or a tie.

Meduza November 28th, 2010 1:16 PM

Yah, another Adventure game! ^^

I choose Hoenn.

tkallab November 28th, 2010 1:34 PM

Hoenn it is then.

You realize the dark room is actually the inside of a truck. The floor is shaking, so you must be going somewhere.
Your memory is starting to come back. You are moving from your home in Saffron City to the quiet Littleroot Town. It's very close to your father's gym, and a friend of your family lives there. You're starting to wonder how the hell you could have lost your memory earlier. It almost seemed like some kind of lame excuse for an introduction. You stand up, but suddenly get dizzy out of motion sickness and fall down, bumping your head against the wall in the process. This must have been how you lost your memory, you think, before passing out.
Some time later, you find yourself in that same truck, with your memory and all. Light suddenly falls into the room through the hole that had miraculously formed in the back of the container, and you jump out. Your mom is standing in front of you.

What do you do?

1) Talk to your mom
2) Go meet your new neighbours, ignoring your mother
3) Go to Route 101 and get a Pokémon

Meduza November 28th, 2010 1:40 PM

3) Go to Route 101 and get a Pokémon

Let's just get this started and not go to pointless dialog XD

Ynfiniti8 November 28th, 2010 1:53 PM

Talk to your mom. Because I like talking.

Helvetica November 28th, 2010 2:11 PM

Meet the neighbours. See how awkward it is.

tkallab November 29th, 2010 9:10 AM

Still a tie, we're gonna need one more vote for the story to continue.

Dark: Random Guy November 30th, 2010 6:34 AM

get a pokemon.

seriously we need to keep our story moving.

tkallab November 30th, 2010 11:48 AM

Ignoring your mother, you walk straight towards the road that leads to Oldale Town. She starts following you, talking in a lot of different tones, varying from red with anger to begging, but you don't pay attention to the words. Suddenly, you notice she's talking more slowly. You look at your feet and see they're moving like a pair of Slugma's. You carefully listen to what your mother is trying to tell you in slow-motion: "Please go set your clock."
Not fully understanding what's going on, but having a faint idea, you walk to your new home, your movements becoming slower with each second. You start running, but it's still not as fast as your walking speed before time had begun slowing down. You fear you won't make it before time stops, but then you see your house showing up in the distance. Surprisingly, you make it inside without a lot of time passing, as if there was an illusion that made it seem much farther away. After what seems like hours of climbing the stairs, you reach your room and set the clock to 8 o'clock, afternoon.
You have no idea what just happened, but it must have everything to do with your clock, so you put it in your bag.
You walk out if the house, still ignoring your mother, and head for Route 101 again. When you get there you see a bag lying on the ground. Upon further inspection, you find out it belongs to your family's friend, Professor Birch. There is a puddle of what appears to be blood about twenty feet away from you.

1) Return the bag
2) Steal the bag
3) Check inside the bag
4) Inspect the puddle

Meduza November 30th, 2010 11:52 AM

Steal the bag! ^^

That way we get 3 Pokemon to start out with.

Helvetica November 30th, 2010 12:22 PM

Steal it. Have to agree with Meduza.

Ynfiniti8 November 30th, 2010 2:06 PM

I'll end it now and say Steal it. XD

Dark: Random Guy December 1st, 2010 10:15 AM

Steal! Three pokemon is always a plus!

(if there aren't pokemon in there i bet we're all gonna be p*ssed as all h*ll)

#Emochu December 1st, 2010 10:47 AM

uh...steal ok? :S

A quick question, are you gonna give us options to choose for the nicknames? Plz no ;0;

tkallab December 1st, 2010 11:27 AM

Of course not, no one will immediately agree on that and it will only slow down the story.

You grab the bag, not planning to return it anytime soon. There must be some good stuff inside... You open the bag and find three Pokéballs. You decide to open them and claim the Pokémon inside, when you hear a growling. It sounds dark and dangerous. You point your heaad towards the puddle of blood and see a silhouette of a spiky-haired Pokémon from the bushes behind it. An evil smile is all you can see before the figure disappears into the bushes. You grab a Pokéball and open it. A ... comes out.

What is '...'?
1) Torchic
2) Mudkip
3) Treecko

Helvetica December 1st, 2010 11:37 AM

Treecko it must be. Skwak!

DoctorFred December 1st, 2010 1:19 PM

Yeah, let's get Treecko...

ChaosLord December 1st, 2010 4:08 PM

(Why not just open all three? that's what I would have done.)
To end this choice lets just get Treecko.

Dark: Random Guy December 2nd, 2010 9:28 AM

Treeko.

It's not quite as good as mudkip but i'm quite sure we get to keep all three pokemon as a result of choosing this so it might not matter what's chosen anyway.

tkallab December 2nd, 2010 2:26 PM

A Treecko comes out. You tell it to shoo the figure away. The Pokémon carefully walks towards the bushes into which the creature disappeared. The moment the Treecko reaches the bushes is the moment a Zigzagoon bites his head off. The Pokémon that had been lurking in the bushes, looking at you hungrily, was this evil Zigzagoon. He is covered in blood, so he must have been responsible for the puddle over there.

Further chemical research proves this.

You quickly grab another Pokéball, but it is snatched away before you can open it. You look who took it. It's a girl in red clothes and a green headband. "Thank me later", she says, and throws the Pokéball towards the murderous Zigzagoon. A Mudkip leaves the Pokéball as it hits the ground. The Mudkip then proceeds to Tackle the Zigzagoon to death.
"Why did you have to take the Pokéball? I could have easily commanded that Mudkip to do that," you ask the girl. "Don't you get it?" she replies, quite angrily. "I just saved your life! You should have been dead and you almost broke a rule!"

"Follow me to Littleroot Town," she continues after an awkward silence. "I'll explain it there." She yoinks the bag you're still holding and heads back to the town.

1) Follow her
2) Demand an explanation right here
3) Demand the remaining Pokémon

Dark: Random Guy December 3rd, 2010 12:27 PM

Follow her

you get a pokemon regardless if you do this. demand an explanation right here would just piss her off more and it's not wise to do that to someone with two pokemon that could easily kill you.

demand the bag will have the same effect.

Ynfiniti8 December 4th, 2010 2:13 AM

Follow her for the reasons said above.

miltankRancher December 4th, 2010 6:05 AM

follow the girl cause the zigzagoon might come backbto life, and yo certainly need someone to save your freakin' life. From a Zigzagoon.

dragonite149 December 6th, 2010 9:26 AM

Basically, what ^, ^^ and ^^^ said. Also, this forum is getting Nuzlocke mad! Nuzlocke challenge, Nuzlocke Roleplay and a Nuzlocke roleplay! Also, maybe this could be a Sabotage mode Nuzlocke? Not sure how that would work out though.

Shubshub December 10th, 2010 11:22 PM

Demand The Remaining Pokemon
Screw That Just Frigging Take Them and Knock Her Out

On Second Though I Choose My Own Option
-Destory The Universe And Eat A Bagel- bagels Are yum

tkallab December 15th, 2010 12:53 PM

Not dead yet! Not me, not the thread! I hope.

You reluctantly follow the girl back to your new hometown. She doesn't speak a word while going back, so neither do you. You have a lot of questions, the most important one being "What the hell was that all about?", but they'll have to wait. The girl takes you to a small laboratory in Littleroot. She says: "This place is my father's." She must be professor Birch's daughter.
"You must have noticed something was going on with that Zigzagoon", she begins when you're inside the lab. "It was psycho, you mean", you reply.
"Something strange is going on, I'm sure you felt it too..." The girl looks at you. "I think I may be the cause of what happened earlier," you say. "Time almost stopping and all..." "Really", the girl says. You start explaining what happened with your clock, but the girl stops you after the first word. "I think it's better I you don't know." She's confusing, you think.
"Listen up, kid. This isn't the kind of adventure you were expecting it to be. Pokémon can die. If they die, you die. There are ancient rules of the universe, and they apply to you now. Don't ever ever ever catch the second and upwards Pokémon you meet on a route." "Is that why I couldn't have those other Pokémon?" you ask. "You understand quickly", May says. "But I'm safe now, can I have the final Pokémon?" You see May smiling. "Of course you can. But be sure to give him a name." She hands you the Pokéball. "I'll go search for dad now", se says, walking out the door.

1) Follow her so you can help
2) Go to Oldale Town
3) Meet your new Pokémon

Helvetica December 15th, 2010 1:28 PM

First 3, then do one, hopefully with your new teammate in tow.

Dark: Random Guy January 13th, 2011 10:38 AM

Follow her so you can help.

The pokemon she took with her is weak and undertrained. The other ones she has might not be much better. At least with both of you there you can both hold your own a little better.

649 January 13th, 2011 10:44 AM

Meet your new pokemon. Better to get familiarized with your pokemon.

tkallab January 25th, 2011 2:29 PM

*Oh right, I still had this thread semi-going*

Still in the laboratory, you open the Pokéball and a red beam of light comes out. It materialises into a Torchic. It seems relieved it's out of its tiny capsule, but after looking around, its breathing starts to accellerate. You try to comfort it.
"It's alright, little buddy, I won't hurt you." The Torchic looks at you and opens its beak.

"Where is the professor?"

It talks. It talks. A talking Pokémon. You don't know what to say. Speechless, you stare at the Torchic who just spoke, and it looks back at you timidly, expecting an answer.
"The professor..." you try to say. "He... He's not here. The girl is looking for him."
"May! Where is she? Can I see her?" The Torchic is obviously angsty because it doesn't know you. You try to calm it down and worry about the fact that it can talk later. "I'll tell you what. We'll go look for that May together, and then we'll all look for the professor."
"Ummm, okay..." the Torchic says reluctantly. You ask: "What's your name?"
"It's Red." "Red?" "The professor isn't that good at coming up with names."
"Oh, ok. That explains it."

What to do now?
1) Look for May
2) Train for a bit
3) Buy Pokéballs

Nintendoshs January 29th, 2011 7:12 PM

I choose you! Look for may! We gotta save the proffeser.

Dark: Random Guy February 11th, 2011 6:12 AM

Look for May.

Being with her is safer than going around on your own and buying pokeballs just wastes time. I don't think it'll end well if you get there with your freshly obtained pokeballs just to find them both dead due to the stalling.

Training for a bit just helps risk you getting you and your pokemon killed (there isn't a pokemon center in this town. just a way to rest at the house which will take up too much time).

I'd say rescue is the way to go. After all, you can convince May and her father into giving you a reward for your efforts later which could mean another pokemon.

tkallab February 11th, 2011 2:31 PM

You go back to the place where you saw the 'corrupted' Zigzagoon. The puddle of blood still creeps you out. You have a hunch whose blood it could be... But you shake off the thought and quickly go past the place, to Oldale Town.
You look around the town to see if May is there, but you only find a weirdo who's looking at his own footprints, thinking they belong to some kind of Pokémon. You heal Red at the Pokémon Center, despite the fact that his health is full, and accidentally heal him again due to impatience.
The market is closed, so May can't be in there.
You head for the route north of Oldale Town. There are Wingulls circling above your head, ready to scoop up any food you might have with you the moment it falls. You get annoyed and command Red to scare the Wingulls away. Red meekly tries to catch the Wingull with a Scratch attack before catching several super-effective Water Guns with its body. You hurry for the Pokémon Center to heal the severe injuries Red just acquired.
"Wh-what were you thi-thinking?!" Red yelled angrily, although still in his awkward way of speech. "I was thi-this close to d-d-dying!" "Sorry..." you reply, "I wasn't thinking. I figured, since you're a Pokémon, you can fight others." "No-not Water Pokém -aagh- Pokémon!" "Look, I said sorry." You realise how stupid your mistake was. From what you understood from what May said earlier, Red really could have been dead. It happened to the Treecko...
"Just make su-sure it does-doesn't happen aga-ain." Red stumbled over his words. "Let's jus-just find M-may alre-ready."

I'm awful for making most decisions end up the same way... Just give it some time, the story is still in its baby stage.

A) Head back to Route 103
B) Investigate the puddle of blood
C) Try to get past the man blocking your path to Route 102

Dark: Random Guy February 27th, 2011 10:21 AM

Investigate the blood puddle.

For all we know there could be an injured person there still alive seeking help and you know what that would mean? free items.
