iPod Nano - 4th/5th Gen

I have a few questions regarding the 4th and 5th generation iPods.

/ Do I absolutely need iTunes to connect with it? I've used iTunes in the past and I am NOT going back. I use Winamp.
/ Can they scrobble my tracks? If not live, then every now and then? I love Last.fm; it tells me what I listen to the most. I'm not sure why I love it, but I just do. xD
/ I know what size I want (8GB, 16 if it's affordable) but how big typically is the iPod OS?

1. No, there are plenty of alternatives. Google is your friend :3

2. Yes sir, specifics can be found on Google, again.

3. The 8gb would give you 7.41GB (that may be slightly different now), but it's small enough to not be a game-breaker.

Enjoy your iPadNanoNanolol

I did Google, for ages. xD First rule of technology is Google first, ask later.

I've been considering an iPod for years now and I figured a fellow Pokecommunityite would help share some information only they knew or something, like experiences or something... :P

iTunes is probably the easiest way to sync, though it appears that you can use Songbird or Winamp too. How to doit exactly I don't know, you might try looking through a support forum for WinAMp/Songbird to see if there are any instructions.

iPod Nanos (no matter the generation) cannot scrobble tracks. I Know iTunes keeps an updated list of the times a song is played and the iPod can update that, but I don't know if the same is true of other music players. (some other music players can tie into Last.fm, but iTunes cannot.)

To give you a ball park, the 8GB version will actually only give you around 7GB of space, the 16GB will give you around 14GB of space. the OS is usually in the megabytes, for nanos no bigger than 200-300MB(if even that big).
